Great secluded property. Hosts are friendly and accommodating. Perfect location. One of the most relaxing trips I have taken in many years. With 13 rooms/cabins we want to go back every year and stay in a different one each time. Already planning our Fall foliage trip for next year if not sooner.

My girlfriend and I made last minute plans to stay at the Pilot Knob Inn and I have to say, It was wonderful. The cabin was beautiful. The management was great! Everything was so perfect. It was our first time staying, but definitely won't be our last. We are going to come back every chance we get and we are going to stay in the same cabin, every time. Couldn't of had it any better! -Jesse Holcomb

Nestled at the base of Pilot Knob Mountain is the Pilot Knob Inn Bed & Breakfast. We spent two lovely nights there this week (end of Sept.). The Inn has several log cabins (100 year old tobacco barns) with hot tubs, fire places, central heat, air conditioners and Wifi. We stayed in the Love Shack. Very comfortable and cozy. We spent time shopping and sightseeing in Mt.Airy, NC (inspration for Mayberry, RFD and Andy Griffith TV series) and in Pilot Mountain, NC (Mount Pilot in the series). Spent one afternoon touring "Mayberry " attractions: Andy Griffith Museum, Walley's Service Station, Floyd's Barbershop, Opie's Candy Store, and ate at Snappy Lunch. Later we enjoyed time in the jacuzzi, sat on the front porch and read in the rocking chairs then watched Andy Griffith videos in front of a cozy fireplace. Nice breakfasts were supplied each morning: fresh fruit, Belgian waffles, sausage, bacon ,ham and eggs to order (8:30 - 9:30AM). Wonderful, restful time!

No one does it better. The breakfast is unbelievablle. You want it, they have it. We have stayed in three different suites and been coming nearly eight years. Jen and Kathy are very friendly. They give you your privacy. It is always clean. A nice weekend or week long get away with someone you love. Peter & Debbie, Wilson, NC

We loved almost everything about the cabin. It was rustic and charming with all the amenities. We were very happy that our cabin was pet friendly; made our stay much more relaxed because we could have our pet with us. It is very quite and peaceful and could not ask for nicer folks that run the place. The food was fantastic. We were a little disappointed that the boats, paddles and life jackets were not of better quality -- we only saw one life jacket available and most of the paddles were either broken or did not look safe so we opted not to go out on the lake and fish; that was a bit of a disappointment because that was one of the reasons we stayed there . Overall it was a great stay and we really enjoyed it. I would suggest that the cabin we stayed in have an overall good dusting, the lights and shades were quite dusty and also, the room could stand to be aired out after each guest to let some of the wood smoke out. Although it is to be expected with a wood burning fireplace, the smell was overwhelming when we first got there. We opened the windows and sprayed febreeze (that I always travel with) and the odor subsided almost completely. Again it was overall a great visit!!!!!!

We will be coming for our third visit this weekend but this time we are bringing some our closest friends. Hoping to have a surprise party for my husband and introduce our friends to the serenity and hospitality we found here!

This was our second visit to the inn. We first visited 2 years ago. I love the tobacco barn cabins. It's a great escape from the hustle of everyday life. Very peaceful and romantic not to mention the fantastic breakfast! Jennifer and Kathy are very welcoming. Can't wait to return!!

We had a wonderful time at "The Love Shack " log cabin this past Thurs night. It was so cozy and comfortable, cheesecake & cider just perfect... breakfast out of this world! All homemade and delicious. Even their dog was so friendly- is he a dingo/Australian shepard ? My husband thought he was "fake" because he was so perfect ... just like everything else at your place. We will definitely be back. We hope to be back soon ! Dawn & Ron of Hooksett NH

My partner decided after 2yrs it was time to exchange rings. We had to plan this at Pilot Knob Inn. Jennifer and Kathy were great in helping us plan. Most of it was a surprise, and Jennifer was such a big help, from flowers to letting us check in early. Was the most wonderful weekend! We have been going to Pilot Knob for a year now, and just can't even imagine staying anywhere else. It has become our home away from home.

My husband and I recently stayed for our anniversary. We were looking for something different from the hotels at the beach where we usually vacation. This site was definitely different! We stayed in Cabin 4, and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. We only stayed two nights, but wanted to stay longer! The positives of this place outweighed the negatives: beautiful grounds, private cabin, outstanding breakfast, good service with a willingness to please, VERY close to Pilot Mountain park, super romantic and cozy cabin, and nice amenities. I rated the cleanliness as a 3 (met my expectations) because I expected to find a little dust and a few cobwebs in a mountain cabin. I swept the front porch and cleared the cobwebs outside myself because I was squeamish about walking under so many spiders. Inside, the room was pretty clean, but a little maintenance and updating in the bathroom would have been nice. Overall, we had a wonderful stay, and we are planning to return! If you are looking for a 5 star resort, this is not it, but if you want a peaceful, unique, romantic place to stay, you should give Pilot Knobb Inn a try.

Just wanted a little time to sit , catch my breath, and listen to the wind blow. So sunday night via 11:30 looked up b&b w/s and found you guys and what a find. I relaxed wednesday night 7/3/12 and did not even make it to breakfast. I sat on the front porch of cabin 3 till 2 am then the upstairs porch off bedroom till 3:30 listening to the wind , frogs, and whatever but the room was great and the down time was even better and then on the way out just to meet the people in charge was the best . I will go back over and over and thank you for what you have given me. Danny

Sit on the porch and rock, sleep on the brown leather sofa, soak in the jacuzzi, take a swim in the pool, take a hike in the woods, eat, repeat. 3 days was not enough....neither would 4. Soooo glad we found you.

My husband totally surprised me and we had a great time. The cabins, ground and pool were delightful. We fished and caught several panfish and bass in the pond. We saw deer run across the property. The breakfast was wonderful and included waffles, omlets, ham, bacon, sausage, muffins, all sorts of preserves and your choice of orange juice, apple juice, tea, milk, or coffee...I think I missed one. LOL. I would definitely love to go again.

Penthouse Suite is wonderful. It is large and relaxing with a full wall of windows, floor to ceiling, that look out to the knob of Pilot Mountain. The hottub in the living room was great, but the chlorine fumes were a little overwhelming...but we fixed that by opening all the upper windows and it didn't get cold because of the beautiful gas log fireplace heating it. This trip was for our 20th anniversary and we will be back!!! The breakfast was worth the cost of the trip alone...the hospitality was terrific. STAY here and you will be absolutely pleased. Thank you Pilot Knob Inn for giving us a quiet wonderful place to escape to...on 2/15-17, 2012 and for the future!!

We had a great anniversary weekend. We only wish we could have stayed longer. We arrived Friday evening in the dark, which was a little scary because it is truly in the woods. We stayed in the SW cabin and it was wonderful. The next morning is when we really were able to appreciate the beauty of the property and the area in general. We also went to a nearby park to hike and see waterfalls. It was a really enjoyable weekend. The cabins/suites were very private and romantic. We definately plan to return!

We spent our wedding night in the Pilot Knob Inn 6 years ago, and have always wanted to come back and stay in one of the cabins. We finally did it for our 6th anniversary and it was great. We stayed in cabin #2 for Friday/Saturday nights and it was rustic, but charming and romantic. The cabin was clean and private and Jennifer and Kathy were great at attending to us at breakfast each morning. The breakfast is outstanding and their service is extraordinary. I highly recommend a stay at the Pilot Knob Inn, and I know we will definitely try to come back before another six years passes. Thanks so much for a wonderful weekend.

We just returned from a 3 nt stay at the Pilot Knot Inn. We stayed in Cabin #1. It was just what we were looking for and generally met our expectations. We found it attractive because it's rustic, nicely located, yet offer convenient ammenities inside. The service was outstanding. We were well-taken care of and given lots of privacy. Kathy and Jennifer simply couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating. They make you feel right at home. Here are my (hopefully helpful) suggestions to the owners: (1) place screens in the upstairs bedroom windows to get airflow w/out having to run the air conditioning. (2) place a satellite or cabled-enabled TV in the living room (only the bedroom had this and the mainfloor TV could only play VHS tapes) (3) place hangars in the bedroom armoire - we saw the spindles inside but there really weren't enough (4) fix the bathroom tile since there were several areas of tile in the bathroom that were noticeably loose (5) place a latch or lock on the front screen door - it really didn't latch so we had to keep the large front door closed to keep out the insects and this further inhibited airflow. (5) air out the cabin before incoming guests arrive - the previous occupant had obviously burned firewood in the fireplace shortly before our arrival and the cabin needed airing out very badly! It also smelled a little musty (6) place something on the stairs separating the main floor and bedroom with slip resistent material to avoid potential hazards. You have to hold onto the hand rail tightly and walk slowly to ensure you don't fall - especially while wearing your socks. (7) place a least 1 hassock in the bedroom to making sitting in the chairs more comfortable. Overall - a great stay. The breakfast is awesome and Jennifer & Kathy make you feel so welcome. Getting to meet their family pets Jean, Douglas, and Trooper really made for a fun time!

We stayed in Cabin#1 7-8-11 thru 7-10-11. We had a great time. From the time we arrived to the time we HAD to leave......it was fantastic. It is so peaceful there. The cabin was great. The service was great. The breakfast was fast and out of this world. I took my sweetie up for the weekend just to get away and that's what we did. No agendas....just relaxation. We loved sitting on the front porch and talking. We hiked along some of the trails and saw no one else. There were people there but you did not see them until maybe at breakfast. It was so peaceful. The weekend was everything and more than we were expecting. Thanks for a great getaway weekend! We will be back. Donnie & Cindy

My wife and I made a trip down to Winston Salem to view the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (potential job for my wife) and we made reservations to stay at the Pilot Knob Inn....All I can say is that this place is as close to Heaven as you can possibly get without being there! We stayed in the Heavenly Hideaway Suite and it was perfect. The name says it all....because it was truly Heavenly! We ate dinner at Soppers which was amazing and then in the morning, the breakfast was incredible! This place takes Southern Hospitality to the extreme....and that's not a bad thing! It was a wonderful getaway for my wife and I. We HIGHLY recommend it and will definitely be back!

Thanks for a great vacation - PS: Brought our dog which is so great to be able to do!

Pilot Knob Inn is a breathtaking getaway hidden in our beautiful North Carolina mountains. A wonderful getaway for my husband and I. We love spending our anniversaries there. The cabins are unbelievable. They are so romantic. The lake is peace and quiet mixed with the beauty of nature. The staff is so friendly its like visiting with old friends. You know they are there if you need anything, but they will not intrude on your privacy. The breakfast room is terrific. Specktacular view and country feel inside with fresh flowers and warm sunshine. Jen and Kathy have everything for breakfast you would ever want. Thank you for the special memories that my husband and I share everytime we stay. We are looking forward to working our way through each of the cozy cabins. PEACE-BEAUTY-ROMANCE!!!!! I was at work and I decided to take a trip to the beach. Well my wife reminded me that we had never went on our honeymoon. So, she sent me this B and B through my e-mail. I did not want to spend that kind of money on a weekend trip but man was I surprised when I arrived. We have never stayed at a B and B before and needless to say, it was underpriced for the hospitality and the feel of the place. They dotted all their i's and crossed all their t's. We didn't lack anything. I highley recomend this B and B for your honeymoon or just a romantic weekend get away. Thanks Michael and Kim

The setting at Pilot Knob Inn was very relaxing. Everyone we spoke to there was very nice. Unfortunately I'm not a morning person, so we didn't get any breakfast. We did have a slice of cake, which was very tasty. We loved the room! It was so nice to be able to just relax at this place! I would recomend the Inn. We will return when we get a chance!

We stayed at the Pilot Knob Inn for a business trip and getaway combined. What a wonderful, "lost in the forest" site this is. It was so quiet and so very different than any place we have been that it quickly became our favorite! The breakfast was so good and prepared by Kathy to order! I have some food sensitivities and she made me feel like I wasn't a big pain. Thegrounds were wonderfull natural with Pilot Knob practically in the cabin! I couldn't believe the nice photos I got. We will be back again! Linda and Larry Biggs Sugarcreek, Ohio

A week in the cabin was an oasis from the noise and confusion of our day-to-day technology-laden life. It was sheer pleasure to walk out on the front porch in the silence of the woods and hear nothing but the wind or a squirrel scampering by in the leaves. Building a fire in the fireplace was a comforting and hypnotic daily ritual. There is a sense of accomplishment in contructing the perfect blaze, and a oneness with the world as you stare at the everchanging flames. Will and Jennifer's inn gives you total privacy with a warm, friendly presence just around the corner so that you never feel alone. Kathy served up delicious breakfasts with her local wisdom and good humor. She is a treasure and a delight! We are already planning our next visit (4th year in a row). Thanks to all of you at Pilot Knob Inn and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

We were thrilled with our stay in one of the tobacco barn cabins. We had nice hikes in the woods and came back to enjoy a fire in our real wood burning fireplace. If you want rustic but without truly roughing it, this is the place. A wonderful breakfast was served each morning in the lovely breakfast room and everyone made us feel as though we've known them forever. We will be back for a longer stay next time. There is a stable available so think about bringing your horse too! It is a beautiful area to ride.

The picture to our cabin was misleading. It is not standing alone as pictured. It is connected to another building and is in very close proximity to foot traffic for guests going to their rooms. It should be noted in the details so that guests are not surprised.

From the sparkling cider and truffles waiting when we arrived to the luxury of an extra hour at checkout time, our expectations were exceeded. When my husband and I opened the doors to Castle Suite 11, we stood with mouths agape. It was one of the must elegant, luxurious rooms we have ever stayed in. The rich dark paneling on the walls contrasted beautifully with the white floor-to-ceiling bookcases. The entire room was decorated with some of the most highly-detailed, unique antiques. The room even featured a jacuzzi tub easily large enough for two, and our own private sauna! I could have laid on the comfortable sofa or the embroaidered setee for days just reading. There is also a large private balcony overlooking the woods. Breakfast was delicious--we just had too many choices! The owner and chef were a wonderful team in making sure no one left hungry. We are looking forward to our return!

I would highly recommend this inn and I plan to come back.

We stayed in one of the tobacco barns, which was quaint but rustic. When visiting a B&B my wife notices attention to detail, which was lacking; the sink had no stopper, the soap dispenser was empty, the TP roll low. Simple things, but important to her. There's a lot of road noise since its close to the highway, but the thick log walls do a pretty good job of stopping it if you don't need a window open. The window air conditioner filter was filthy, and I cleaned it out in the sink. We rowed around the lake in the flat-bottom boat, and had to temper our excursion by the speed the boat was leaking and filling up the bottom (we made it before our feet got wet). Breakfast was good and the cook friendly; overall not quite the value we expected.

This was a 5th wedding anniversary getaway for us and this was a great place to celebrate. We stayed in the Southwest Honeymoon Suite. All of our hosts went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. With all due respect to the two legged hosts, I have to give special praise to Trooper who showed us all the best hiking trails. He was a bit reluctant to stay in sight while hiding his bone again but I am sure he felt confident we could find our way down that section of the trail. The location puts quiet romantic walks, a visit to Mt. Airy("Mayberry"), Pilot Mountain State park, Hanging Rock State park, and the Ydkin Valley Vineyards within easy reach.

We stayed in a cabin which was great. The food and service at breakfast was outstanding. Our only complaint was that we had several questions about the Inn, attractions, etc. but the office was not staffed when we were there. You can bet on the fact that we will be back again... as soon as we can... and as many times as the purse will allow!!!!

We just spent a night at Pilot Knob Inn in the Pilot Knob Suite and loved it! The pictures do not do the room justice. The hot tub was wonderful, and Jennifer was a sweetheart. We will definitely stay here again!

Reserved cabin online at the last minute and was very pleased with the fast response. Great place to get away for a few days. Beautiful pool, great atmosphere. The cabins are well equipped, I was suprised that the full DirecTv lineup was on, not just one HBO channel like at a hotel. The breakfast was excellent, everything cooked to order. Total first class all the way.

My husband and I recently spent one night in the Southwestern Suite to celebrate our August birthdays. From relaxing in the sparkling pool to walking down to the quiet lake to soaking in the enormous spa tub in our suite to being served a very delicious breakfast, we felt like we celebrated our big days in style! We hope to return soon when we can stay a little longer..........

The Southwest Suite is GREAT!!! We are regulars at Pilot Knob B&B. Southwest Suite is our favorite. It's cozy and we love it. It is the only suite that has a kitchenette, table and chairs. We like to sit out on the porch in the rockers and enjoy a glass of wine. The king size bed and a HUGE whirlpool tub is more than big enough for two . The bedroom is very spacious. It has the most comfy leather sofa and recliner chair. Kathy does a super job of keeping everything clean in all the rooms, suites and cabins, and she makes a fabulous breakfast. Jen is a phone call away if we have any need at all. Jen makes you feel right at home. And don't forget the cheese cake, crackers, sparkling cider, and truffles as an add-on to the deal. The breakfast is amazing. You can have a little or have it all -- from eggs, waffles, fresh fruits, cakes or pies, canadian bacon, country ham, toast -- it's all there. It's truly a treasure that we found Pilot Mountain B&B a few years ago. I am always looking at the calendar for a time we can squeeze in a get away. You'll love the Southwest Suite!

My husband & I stayed in the Southwest Honeymoon Suite for our anniversary weekend at $179/night and staying for 2 nights. Walking into the bedroom before even putting down my bag, I got splinters from the wall in my hand, wrist & arm. The bedspread was old & faded and pillows, sham pillows and neckrolls were flat. The rooms were dark, no decoration on the walls of any kind in the bedroom. Sparsely decorated with cheap, homemade paintings in the bathroom on unframed small canvases complete with staples showing. One was literally 7 feet high! Only one small, cheap towel rack across the room from the sink. Medicine chest with mirror over sink you had to be careful not to knock it off the wall. The shower was at least 8 feet high and you cannot get a shower. It felt like a light rain coming from that high. VERY disappointed in room. Breakfast was also disappointing. No bacon or sausage smells wafting in the air because they are pre-cooked and/or frozen, reheated for your dining pleasure. I asked for country ham one morning and heard the microwave going and beep, then my food came. Hm. The fruits are wonderful. However they take them away about 910am, even though it states on the website that breakfast is from 830-930am. The 6-acre pond we never did see on the property anywhere. Overall, a huge disappointment for the money!

My husband I celebrated our 42nd anniversary here. We had wonderful time and were made to feel very special by Kathy especially. The full breakfast each morning was great even though it lacked some "variety" in choices. We had the Yadkinville Honeymoon Cabin. It had everything we needed to relax and make our stay pleasant. We had a great time hiking around the grounds and in the state park, swimming, fishing, visiting Mt. Airy, and a nearby winery. Just happened the weekend we were there was the Pilot Mountain "Cruise In". My husband loves old cars, so it was a pleasant surprise and fun evening. Will put it on our list of things to do again!

We spent 3 terrific nights in Tobacco Barn Cabin #1. I had heard such great things about this inn, that I just had to see for myself. It was charming and a great adult get away. We were able to take our toy poodle with us. The breakfast was superb as well as the service. We were not bothered by anyone and it was like we were in a small mountain community. We will certainly be back as soon as we can! - Mark & Susan, New Bern, NC

I just stayed another weekend in cabin number 5. Kathy and Jennifer were great as always. The world stops turning when I am up there. The lake is always full of fish. We caught 60. We saw deer and ground hogs. What a wonderful place to get away.

Was beyond our expectations. We have stayed at several B&Bs before but none like this. The breakfast was great. Waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage; all of the usual stuff plus the best fresh fruit, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, watermelon, pineapple, canteloupe and more. Then there were the desserts for breakfast, totally unexpected but great. Constant supply of supply of snacks in the breakfast room which was open 24 hours/day. Staff were very helpful but not intrusive. Very peaceful setting. Perfect setting for honeymoon or anniversary. Wonderful place/setting for couples who want to get away from it all and don't want children around. Will be returning and highly recommended to others.

My husband and I stayed in Heavenly Hideaway Jacuzzi Suite in April and really enjoyed our stay. We took advantage of the $99 a night special. We were looking to unwind and it was just perfect!! The lake is great! We took the paddle boat out- saw turtles, geese, frogs, (and other wildlife I won't mention for those faint at heart). We caught enough fish for a fish fry out at the public grill next to the gazebo. The room is absolutely adorable- very cozy and romantic. Breakfast and our chef were just wonderful! We will definitely come again!

My husband & I stayed in the Yadkin Valley Honeymoon Suite last week. It was wonderful! Very quiet & relaxing. It had a king size bed & a large jacuzzi, the living room had a gas log fireplace. We even had our own front porch with rocking chairs! Our room had a minifridge, coffee maker & microwave. We also had DirecTV & wireless internet. The breakfast was wonderful & the owners are very nice. They don't allow children, & they try to screen the guests to ensure a quiet retreat for everyone (ie: no noisy college kids throwing a party!) All of the rooms are non-smoking, which is especially nice when you have allergies. Right now the property is gorgeous with all of the flowers blooming. There are trails to walk, a private lake with gazebos, paddle boats & row boats. They have catch & release fishing, too. There's also a stable about 5 mins away where you can go horseback riding. There are plenty of nice restaurants within 15 mins or so. Why would you stay in a boring hotel when you can have all of this for about the same price? We'll definately be back. It's a perfect weekend getaway! ~ Cheryl M.

We stayed there for our 2 year anniversary and we can't wait to go back again! Jennifer is such a sweetheart and the nicest person I have ever met. Also, the breakfast was great! We have never stayed at a bed and breakfast, but let me tell you we would recomment this bed and breakfast.

You could not ask for a better breakfast and view. I look forward to our next visit.... just got home and wish we were going back. My husband and I solved all of our problems and the world problems on the cabin front porch rocking in the those wonderful chairs. This inn is a wonderful place to get away! My husband secretly booked us a weekend getaway at Pilot Knob Inn for our anniversary and it couldn't have been more perfect for much needed romance, rest and relaxation. The breakfast every morning was wonderful and the service was even better. We spent the weekend kayaking and visiting the local vineyards. There is not anything bad I can say about this wonderful bed and breakfast. I can't wait to come back!

This was a Christmas present and I was excited as I had never been to a bed/breakfast or cabin getaway before. The cabin was spectacular. Very rustic but with all the conveniences! We relaxed and enjoyed the jacuzzi. We took a few short hikes. We felt like we were in our own little world in cabin #4. I highly recommend Pilot Knob Inn. The Allens were very hospitable and made you feel so welcome. The cabin was extremely clean and the breakfast served each morning was delicious! I've decided to make a weekend stay at the Pilot Knob Inn my parent's gift for their upcoming 50th wedding anniversary! A truly delightful experience and I can't wait to go back again.

My husband and I stayed in one of the Tobacco Cabins last year and had a great experience!. We had spent the day in Mt. Airy shopping and sight-seeing. The last night we were there I was looking at pictures we had taken and unknowingly dropped my SD card. I had filled up the card and was using a new one in my camera. It wasn't until I got home (Alabama) that I realized I had lost it and was devastated. Not only were there pictures of our tirip, the card had pictures of our grandson's first birthday party and Christmas. I called Jennifer to ask if anyone had found it and they had not. She assured me that she would look extensively for it. I knew that the last place I remembered seeing it was in the cabin. After speaking with Jennifer on several occasions, she called one day to say that my card had been found down in the sofa. I was so relieved and happy. Jennifer and the staff not only made our visit at the cabin a great one, they went out of their way after we left to search for my picture card. Thank you so much staff for making my year and I do plan to visit you agan.

Wow! What a romantic place to remember the "honey" from your honeymoon! The rustic yet first class accomdations of the cabin was wonderful! What can be more romantic than a real wood fire, a mug of fresh coffee and then a soak in the jaccuzi tub for two? The huge bed was so cozy in a large loft with a beautiful view off of the balcony and out the window, we had a wonderful get away and have already recomended it to our friends! The innkeepers were so friendly and the breakfast was wonderful!

Hello, First time I had stayed at the B & B and it is not just a romantic getaway. The ladies I went to high school, (have been graduated for 30 years) still get together once a month. There are eight in our group and five were able to come up for the weekend of New Year's. We wanted a new and exciting adventure to start our new year. (Also, 50th birthdays this year) We were not disappointed. The Southwest suite was perfect. Loved the gas fireplace and the setting, very clean and neat. (would have only changed the size of the TV) We went to Pilot Mountain State Park and hiked up to some of the overlooks and got some great photos. Even went back at sunset to take more photos. Walked around the property at lake, wonderful frozen fountain there. (I am a photographer and got lots of photos for my calendar for 2011) Then also walked down to the swinging bridge and got another "group" shot there. Breakfast was awesome with a good variety of foods and fruits. Did not want to leave we had so much fun. It was very relaxing and just what we needed to start our new year off with wonderful friends. Even made our reservations for next year.

This was my first time at the Pilot Knob Inn. It was reccommended by my neighbors so we booked one of the cabins. The location was very easy to get to but it's set back from the road so it felt very remote. The cabin was small on square footage but very cozy. We had everything we needed. We purchased some wine from the local vineyards and enjoyed the rustic fireplace with the ton of wood they provided. They next morning we were pleasantly surprised with the included breakfast. There was a ton of delicious food and the service provided by Jennifer and Kathy was great. Wonderful people, wonderful stay. We will be going back and recommending to others.

Went wine tasting for the day and settled in to our private cabin at this B&B. Could not have been any more wonderful. Sat by the fire drinking wine. Very romantic. DEFINITELY going back and bringing friends!

My husband and I live very close, but with three kids we need an occasion getaway. This was our third time visiting Pilot Knob Inn. We love it! We have stayed in three different cabins since we started visiting and every one was great. Fireplaces, jacuzzi tub, comfortable atmosphere, great breakfast including fruits, waffles, sausage or bacon, eggs. I can't say enough about this place. One morning we woke up to a deer walking around on our porch. If you need a cozy getaway or just passing through, don't pass this place by. By reading all the guests entries in the guestbook, everybody loves it. Can't wait to surprise my husband again!!

I booked a two night stay at this inn for my husband and myself for our third anniversary. We have nine children and four grandkids and 3 St. Bernards. We never had a honeymoon and with all them people to tend to we were in need of this mini vacation. This place was FANTASTIC! The owners and staff were beyond exceptional, very caring and extremely courteous. The room was ready and also exceeded our expectations when we arrived. It was hastle free. We just went into our room and began enjoying. The breakfast was absolutely AMAZING. The waffles are great and I dont even like waffles. The atmosphere was so enjoyable and the scenery was remarkable. We had a great view from our penthouse suite , of pilot mountain. We just could not have asked for a better place to stay and have a great third anniversary celebrated. THANK YOU SO MUCH! We were traveling from the Outer Banks back to the Nashville area and wanted to stay in a log cabin in the mountains on the way home. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! My husband never wanted to stay in a B & B even though I've stayed in many through the years in the US and in Europe. This has changed his mind. The only problem was that we couldn't fit the cabin in our vehicle to bring it home! If we lived closer, we would FREQUENT Pilot Knob Inn!

We came to Pilot Knob Inn for our honeymoon in 2006, and came back for our anniversary this year. We will definitely be back again. We love this place. The staff are among the most friendly people you will ever meet. The campus is a beautiful, secluded get-away. Nice little bass lake on site in which we caught and released about 6 large-mouth in two hours. Breakfast is amazing -- don't make the mistake of sleeping through it.

My husband booked Cabin 2 as a total anniversary surprise. He knew how much I had wanted a cabin getaway, so he thought he had found a deal. Compared to other cabins, it was less expensive. Jennifer & Kathy were incredibly friendly and the breakfast is wonderful! Rooms review: Our cabin, however did not look like the photos. I feel they should advertise each cabin with the actual photos of that cabin. We had a loveseat in the livingroom with no coffee table, where a sofa is shown on the website. There was a chair, but being an anniversary, we wanted to spend time "together". Service: The service was very friendly, but our bathroom door was squeaky. We asked that the hinges be sprayed with some oil, but that didn't happen during our visit. Not a big deal, it's just that they said they would and they did not. Again, the value, was just okay for our cabin, other cabins might be different. Cleanliness: The floor of the shower definitely needed to be bleached or resurfaced and the tub was not exactly inviting either. The shower was not a "two-person" shower either, as the online ad displayed. There was also a log that had been left behind in the fireplace that had the entire cabin smelling of old smoke. Once we removed it, that was fine. Dining - the breakfast is everything promised! It was very tasty and Jennifer and Kathy are great hostesses. Would we return? Maybe we would go to the B&B, but not back to the cabin. The Innkeepers are more than friendly - so it's worth looking into, but ask questions.

We stayed in a cabin for two nights. It was very homey and relaxed, well renovated and nicely furnished. Loved being able to bring breakfast back to the cabin the first morning. It was wonderful to be so close to Pilot Knob State Park, and we loved Soppers Restaurant in the town of Pilot Knob. The only negative comments would be the too-hard mattress, and the lack of a step to get into the whirlpool tub.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in the Castle room. Clear to see maintenance on facility and housekeeping is lacking. Not sure how long the owners have had possession but clear they have not put much money into business. They were not there during our stay. Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, and waffles every morning. Worst breakfast of any B&B we have ever stayed in. We thought after reading all the reviews that our experience would be better than it was.
We are very sorry when any customer is not satisfied with their stay at our inn. We strive daily to meet the needs and expectations of our guest. Due to circumstances beyond our control we were required to be out of town during your stay. I wish our staff had been notified of your dissappointment we would have released you from your reservaion. Since the purchase of our inn, nine years ago, we work daily at maintaining the cleanliness and quality of our inn. We have been fortunate enough to recieve several prestegious awards including top 12 inns worldwide on bedandbrakfast.com and maitain a superior rating by our inspectors. We would love a chance to work with you in the future. Thanks! Jennifer Allen

My husband and I rented a tobacco barn cabin for vacation. The cabin was very clean and confortable. The staff Kathy checked on us to be sure that everything was at hand that could be needed. The breakfast each morning was outsanding. Jennifer the owner was present in the morning, at breakfast, also helping Kathy and inquiring on our stay, to be sure everything was going well for us. The hospitality was exceptional and I would recommend this B & B to anyone. I will definitely return! Also if you like history and the good old days the area has several things to keep you entertained. Pilot Mountain was beautiful.

I wanted to surprise my husband so I blind-folded him and took him to Pilot Knob Inn, which is only a few miles from our home. When we got there, it was so awesome. I took him to the door still blind-folded and then unfolded the surprise. He was so shocked. He is usually the romantic one but I wanted to just get away to relax for the weekend and thats just what we did :) We fished for a while and then we got in the hottub. The next day, we layed around and was just lazy after we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast cooked by Kathy. She is the sweetest thing! I really couldn't have pulled it off without Jennifer's help. I thought she was going to crack up after seeing my husband blind folded. Thanks so much for a wonderful weekend Jennifer and Kathy. You made our stay even better than I could have ask for...

This was an extraordinary highlight of our first vacation together. While not an official honeymoon, it certainly had the feeling of one when we arrived at this secluded "Castle Room". It felt like we had entered a wonderland and our stay here brought back all those feelings of falling in love all over again. We felt like we were being treated like royalty even before we learned that the walls in the room had been imported from a castle in Versailles, France. If you are needing to connect or reconnect with your mate and want a place to do this, you will not be sorry if you choose this one.

A relaxing bit of elegant back country. My husband and I stayed in the Castle Room for a long weekend. Everything was absolutely wonderful: the room, the pool, the view, the breakfast. Can't wait to go back and try a cabin!

We stayed recently at this B&B for our honeymoon. We loved the privacy, space from others, and the facility was beautiful. The variety of foods offered at breakfast was enormous. All the employees were so nice and helpful. The location was great for wine touring, visiting natural parks and seeing local color. We would love to return in the future.

What a great trip! We only live two hours away so it was a great little one night out of town trip. The cabins were perfect, rustic and cozy. The fact that they are all seperate cabins, and therefor a little more private, is a big plus. The grounds are beautiful. Took a quick little drive up to the top of the mountain to watch the sunset, don't know of many other places where you can do that. The breakfast was SUPERB! Will definately be coming back here next time we need to get away.

My husband and I were looking for somewhere kinda close to hav an overnight getaway. After searching on the internet for MANY hours, I found the Pilot Knob B & B and booked it. WOW....this place is absolutely great. Clean, friendly, private, and did I mention clean ??? So very relaxing and what a great time to reconnect. The "no kids" policy is just awesome - and we have kids - but we were looking for a break and this place has it all !! Thanks to Jen for making us feel at home - nothing is left out - we will definitely be back........very soon !!!

My husband and I stayed in Cabin 5 to celebrate our honeymoon on our first anniversary! I recommend staying at Pilot Knob B&B to everyone I know. The rustic tobacco barns have been fully updated, decorated perfectly, cozy and romantic! We spent most of our time inside the cabin, but we also enjoyed hiking, swimming and taking in the views from our porch as well as a 2nd story porch that overlooked the back of the cabin! We have decided to stay here every year to celebrate our anniversary! Mostly because it suited our personalities so well and despite how much we enjoy taking our kids on vacations we know that Jennifer will not allow them to come! :] Therefore we can look forward to a minimum of one weekend a year in a fabulously cozy and romantic cabin!! The jacuzzi was tremendous! Other details will remain private! This is a must! Forever and ever! It was worth every cent! PLUS!!!! They serve a phenomenal breakfast every day! homecooked by someone else! It was delicious, I overate every morning we were there! Please go! Book your reservations today!!

This place was way above all our expectations. I saw a side of my husband I never saw before. He was romantic and truely fell in love with the experience. It is a memory that we will never forget. The owners were so friendly and we instantly felt at home. We had a cute bunch of kittens that played on our porch and 2 cute dogs that followed us on our walk around the lake. We are already planning on going back someday. This is absolutely a MUST if you need to reconnect with eachother...I never even know a place like was still around....I fell even more in love with my husband..and I think him with me

We have celebrated serveral anniversaries at Pilot Knob and we have not been disappointed yet. We have stayed there when snow is on the ground and also in the heat of the summer. The breaksfast, rooms and southern hospitality are great representatives of the wonderful area.

We recently spent one night at the Pilot Knob Inn as we were passing through the area and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The quaint cabins were a peaceful and relaxing getaway for our anniversary. Our cabin was two stories with a living room and spacious bathroom on the main floor and bedroom loft upstairs. The cabins were clean and well kept and the owners were extremely friendly and accommodating. Although we have stayed at ritzier B&Bs, the value for the price was well worth it. We would gladly return and stay again.

We have had a tradition of going to the Pilot Knob B&B for over a decade. We try to spend a weekend close to our wedding anniversary. Our latest stay was perfect. The cottage was perfect, and the breakfast excellent!! The quality of the service is first rate, and the cottages are the ultimate in privacy, with the added benefit of being able to hike or just enjoy being outside reading on the porch or the back balcony porch of the cottage. We loved it!!

I wanted to stay on the Blue Ridge Parkway, but the B&Bs were quite pricey. Selected this one and loved it. Very secluded and quiet. Great lake with canoe and paddle boats. Easy to find and lovely folk running it. Only drawback is the breakfast time, which is only 8:30-9:30 - who wants to get up that early when vacating?! Suggest giving guest the option of having a microwaveable b'fast in their cabin fridge, with fresh fruit and OJ.

Thank you Jennifer!!!

My wife and I have stayed at Pilot Knob twice now for anniversary weekends. Both times have been wonderful and we are already planning another visit later this summer. Jennifer runs a great Inn that is ideal for couples to get away for a few days. The suites are modern and well decorated. The jaccuzzi tubs are a great addition as well. The breakfast is great and service provided by Jennifer and Cathy is wonderful. I highly recommend a stay at Pilot Knob if you need some time away!
5 on April 30, 2009
My boyfriend and I stayed here for a romantic getaway and we could not have been more pleased. We stayed in the Heavenly Hideaway and we highly suggest it for a couple looking for some peace and quiet: front porch, whirlpool tub, standing separate shower, gas fireplace and a little DirectTV for when you need a little break. Breakfast is great and served promptly in the morning and the location is great for visiting nearby vineyards and other sights. It's quiet, cozy and extremely clean. The staff is incredibly friendly and you cannot beat the value for the price. We recommend the Pilot Knob Inn!
5 on April 20, 2009
Me and my husband stayed 2 nights at the Pilot Knob Inn for our honeymoon and it was even better than what we expected. The staff was extremely friendly and were there to help out in any way possible. The room was amazing and even better in person than the pictures on the website. The setting was peaceful and beautiful, especially since it was April and lovely in spring. We loved our stay and would highly recommend!

My husband and I visited Pilot knob April 14th and 15th. We got an unexpecting phone call from home about 5:00`clock in the morning which woke us up way to early, so we decided to walk around before breakfast. The scenery was beautiful! We walked to the swinging bridge and took priceless pictures. We walked to the top of the mountain where we then started seeing big paw prints, I then wanted to turn around and go back. The night before we walked around the place with one of Will`s and Jennifer`s dogs named Jean, She was very unique. She ran around like she was doing her part by keeping unwanted varmets off the Inn, It was like she was always working, It was so cool watching her. Everybody was so nice and helpful. We stayed in cabin 4, It was like Little house on the Prairie! I hope to come back real soon. Thank-you.

My husband and I eloped and were looking for a place to spend a few days before going back into the real world. Pilot Knob Inn was the perfect place - the cabins were rustic, comfortable and cozy while the innkeepers were an absolute delight. A late night spring thunderstorm was passing through and we drank a glass of wine while sitting on the front porch of the cabin and listened to the rain. Absolutely wonderful and we will be back!

We had such a wonderful time at the Inn. The accomodations, the breakfast, and the hospitality were topnotch! We plan on sharing this place with many of our family and friends. Fantastic hiking and horse trails, surrounded by a multitude of wildlife, creeks and beautiful foilage. Within minutes of Mount Airy and Pilot Mountain, the real Andy Griffith "Mayberry." In addiiton, Pilot Knob State Park is a spectacular breathtaking view that you can see from your room, as well as from the dining breakfast room. Just a fabulous stay for couples of all ages!!

What a great place - went with 2 other couples. Stayed in Cabin #2, #3, #6 and it was perfect for relaxing, quiet fun weekend! Service for breakfast and food was a wonderful way to start each morning! Loved not having to be at breakfast at a certain time and have a breakfast room with chairs for couples, groups, etc. Jennifer was so accomodating and contacted us for any and all questions prior to arrival! The cabins are amazing coming from several of us that grew up on tobacco farms! Common area w/gazebo for grilling was so nice! We will be back!

We came here for a relaxing weekend away and to spend quality time together. It was exactly what we needed! A beautiful cabin with gas logs to keep you toasty on a cold rainy night, a huge comfortable bed, totally relaxing hot tub and wonderful breakfast the next morning!! Enjoyed the day in Mt. Airy strolling down Main Street and visiting all the shops and ate a late lunch at Goobers 52. The perfect getaway without being far from home!! Highly recommend!!

We stayed for one night. The next morning went to a lovely, excellent breakfast. Was informed by staff to take our time leaving. We left on time and we hope to return to Pilotknob Bed and Breakfast again. This has been a most memorable time. Thank you again to the outstanding staff members. C and R Hall

My girlfriend and I planned this weekend about 2 months ago hoping for good hiking weather, but it rained all weekend. It was a great chance for us to just talk and han out in a very cool place with no distractions. The cabins are rustic and beautiful and the fireplace and hot tub were all that we needed to make a memorable weekend. The shopping in the area is great if you like country stores and antiques. We are planningon going back to this place again in the future.

This place is out of this world. You truly feel that you are someplace else. It is so peaceful and warm and welcoming even in the rain. The cabin was so much more then we expected. I would highly recommend to anyone who just wants to get away for a day or two (you will want more time believe me) to make sure you put this on your calendar NOW..... We can't wait to go back the people there were so friendly and they made sure that you have everything that you need and more. Eddy & Sonja Patton Eden, NC

He proposed in Hawaii and we honeymooned at Pilot Knob Inn! After the stress of planning a wedding, this was the perfect place to unwind. We were able to sit back, relax and focus on one another! After a delicious, made to order breakfast we toured the area and a couple of wineries. We went back to Cabin #5 and enjoyed the jacuzzi that evening. Although Hawaii and Pilot Knob are thousands of miles apart, they are both on the top of our list for places we will be revisiting! Thanks to Jennifer, our honeymoon was wonderful!

The innkeeper "Jennifer" was very nice and very helpful an absolute pleasure to talk too! We stayed in Cabin #3 the weekend of 1/30/09 to 2/1/09 and throughly enjoyed ourselves. The Cabin was cozy and warm even though it was extremely cold that weekend. The fireplace and jacuzzi tube was a added bonus to the already neat and unique little tobacco cabin. We loved the secludedness of the cabin from the rest of the inn which allowed us to just getaway from everything and enjoy the time with each other. It was a great getaway from our normal everyday weekend of work and stress. We loved the fact the Pilot Mountain state park was just a hop skip and a jump up the road from the Inn. Well within walking distance with lots of wildlife to see and hiking with great scenic views. We throughly enjoyed the Drive Inn Movie Theater as well in Mt. Airy. That was a great throw back to the old days at a great price. Overall we recommend this Inn to anyone who loves the Mountains and Foothills, and would love to have a little romantic getaway with local attractions all within a short driving distance. I have already directed many of our freinds to the Pilot Knob Inn already for their next weekend trip. We would just like to see a big THANK YOU! to Jennifer for her kindness and help. We loved your Inn and will be back very soon!

My wife and I stayed for two nights in January in cabin #2. In spite of the much below normal temperatures, our cabin was toasty warm both from the fireplace and the central heating system. The cabin was clean, comfortable and cleverly laid out. We thorougly enjoyed the company of the innkeeper, Jennifer, and the two delicious breakfasts she served us. Hiking in the area was great. Would recommend this to someone who wishes to try something a bit different but without any risk. The cabins are clean, comfortable and have all the creature comforts you would like including sattelite TV, microwave and refrigerator.

The occasion was our first night as a married couple. The setting was the Castle Room at the Pilot Knob Inn Bed & Breakfast. The atmosphere was magical. As the two of us walked into the room, and as the evening progressed, the Castle Room gave us the opportunity to share memories that will not fade with the passing of time. The elegance of the appointments added such wonderful flavor and comfort to our stay. Outside the temperature dropped into single digits, but we experienced the magic and warmth of a beautiful fireplace. While the wind howled outside, we experienced the quiet of the sauna and the comfort of the inroom jacuzzi. The inkeepers knew the exact balance to strike between meeting our every need and in providing a very private experience that we will remember always. If you want our ultimate endorsement...we plan to return for more magical moments. Thank you Pilot Knob Inn!

The cabins are secluded and wonderful. They are neat and clean and have all the extras you would want. You can even bring your dogs and horses if you'd like. Breakfast was good with lots of fresh fruit but could have had a bit more variety. It is in a convenient location within walking distance to the state park and easy to find. The only drawback about the location is is is very close to the highway and the traffic can be heard from your room.

The Pine Knob Suite has a great hot tub outdoors and gas logs inside. We've stayed there a couple of times and looked inside many of the rooms/cabins. There's not a bad room in the inn and we will return to try as many as we can! The Innkeepers are great people who do a fantastic job taking care of their customers, and the breakfast is wonderful. They all worked very hard to make sure we were comfortable. We like to go and visit the local wineries each year and just relax in the area. Give it a try, you won't be sorry!

Stayed in honeymoon cabin-it was a lovely stay as the staff was warm and friendly, the cabin was rustic and charming with rocking chairs, jacuzzi, gas logs and lovely views with the lake and mountains- when we arrived two deer bounded in front of us as we were entering the grounds and then we were directed to our cabin that had already had porch lights turned on as well as the interior lights awaiting our arrival-breakfast was a true Southern delight and it was the cozy relaxed atmosphere we were hoping we would find.

We got home today, and we have already told some of our friends about it. We want them to go back with us. It was a wonderful, relaxing weekend.

Staying at the Pilot Knobb Inn was absolutely a dream come true. Beautiful grounds, wondeful people...heaven in North Carolina. We can't wait to return. My husband had just returned from his third deployment to Iraq when we vacationed at the Pilot Knobb Inn. Next time we will stay at least a week! We can't wait to stay in Cabin 2 again!

My husband and I planned a three night pre Christmas get away and stayed in the Heavenly Hideaway. I have bad allegergies and typically have sinus problems in hotels. I had no such problems here as the room was dust and smoke free. Fantastic. We happened to stay on the coldest day of the year and still found lots to do in the immediate area. The breakfast was very good and Jennifer and Kathy were very friendly This was the perfect relaxation break before we hit the holiday season.

We recently stayed in Cabin #5 & it was much better than I would have anticipated. You could see the fire from the jacuzzi. Our porch was loaded with wood our bathroom was overstocked with plush towels. The breakfast was way more than a feast. We were pleased and will be back.

This was a great place where my wife and I celebrated our 20 wedding anniversary. The rooms were neat, clean and romantic. The location and view from this B&B was inspiring as well as located relatively close (5-35 miles) to many things to do like visiting Mayberry (Mt. Airy), wineries, state parks, and shopping malls. This was a great getaway just before Christmas. I think we will come back again during the fall to see the beautiful fall colors as well as during the grape harvesting season and go on multiple winery tours.

My husband and I recently stayed in the Honeymoon Cabin. We were celebrating our 7th Anniversary. What a wonderful experience. The room was just what I was hoping for. Breakfast was great. Very friendly staff. When you go away from your family and children, you sometimes miss them. At breakfast the ladies ask me about my family. That was so nice. I especially liked the dining room set-up. I have been to other bed & breakfasts' and everyone has to eat together. Here they had small individual tables...that was really romantic and nice. Diffently hope to make this an annual retreat!!

I cannot recommend this B&B highly enough. It was awesome! The cabin was spotless. After a nice long stay in the jacuzzi tub, we enjoyed a nice fire. I could feel the stress leaving me! Breakfast was wonderful, too. I can't wait to go back.

My fiancee and I stayed a week (October 14 thru 21, 2008) in the Southwest Honeymoon Suite. The stay was indeed wonderful and the owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. A full breakfast every morning was nice if you wanted it - we took part several times but also had the ability to prepare our own at a later time - we liked to sleep in a little. The area was beautiful, the atmosphere in the suite very romantic - highly re4commend it for new and old lovers.

My husband & I just stayed at Pilot Knob in the Castle room with B&B.com certificates our children had given us. Cathy & Jennifer were very nice. The property was beautiful with a big variety of room types. I chose the Castle room online with a king bed option. I wish I would have gone with a cabin or someting a little brighter. The castle room was big but very dark. We like to play games when we're away & the lighting was not good for reading or playing games. We made due. The breakfast was the same as you could get at any hotel that offers a hot breakfast. I myself have made B&B breakfast recipes when I have people come to visit. There was nothing homemade but waffles. That part was very disappointing. The only other thing was that the room was not as clean as we thought it should have been ( clothes left in closet, flowers left in a vaseon mantel & 2 beer bottle caps in sauna ). Believe it or not, we had a great time. Being with my wonderful husband for 3 whole days was awesome. We went to Mount Airy shopping & sightseeing. We ate at some of the local spots. We also went to Sparta to cut down our Christmas tree. We have created alot of new memories. If we go back again I'd like to go back in the warmer weather.

My husband surprised me for my birthday by taking me to the Pilot Knob Inn Bed and Breakfast and it was such a treat! The Pilot Knob Suite room was very spacious with a living room, bed, and private hot tub porch. The breakfast the next morning was delicious and very filling! I would love to come back and stay in one of the cabins.

My husband and I enjoyed a second honeymoon of sorts, during his 4-day military leave before he left for Afghanistan. We stayed in one of the tobacco cabins, and it was perfect in every way - we soaked in the jacuzzi tub 'til we were prune-y, spent hours in front of the fire, and made a daily trip into Mt. Airy for a late lunch/early dinner. We felt absolutely secluded - we didn't even know there were other guests at the inn, until we saw 6 other couples at breakfast. And while having complete privacy, we were still close enough to all of the conveniences of Mt. Airy. We have some wonderful memories to carry with us over the next year of my husband's deployment, and look forward to visiting again when he returns home!

This was our second time visiting Pilot Knob Inn B&B. Our cabin was full of romance and passion. The cozy fireplace and the whirlpool tub gave us the romantic getaway that we were looking for. The love that we share for each other is a love that most people only dream of. His is my destiny and I am his. If you want to spend some much need quality time with your significant other, please don't hesitate to bring them here. The private and intimate cabins are to romantic to pass up. We will definately be returning next year.

We stayed in the Southwest suit...it was decent but over priced for what you get. Around $425 for the weekend stay. While the people there were very nice and polite and the breakfast was great I probably woudn't go back. We stayed for a weekend and that is plenty for that area. There is some antique shopping in the area if that is your thing but not a whole lot and Pilot Mountain is very nice but it was pretty cold and windy the day we went up to the peak and couldn't really spend much time there. All in all I would recommend it if they didn't mind paying that much for an OK time.

My husband and I needed to just get away for a few days. I found Pilot Knob Inn on line and loved the rustic charm of the pictures and was not disappointed! The cabin was absolutely beautiful outside and as we entered we were both ready to lock the door and hide in the cabin's captivating embrace! Having a fireplace for a romantic fire and a huge comfy bed was wonderful but the part we enjoyed the most was the two person jacuzzi! There was no shortage of hot water for the multiple soaks! The cabin was clean, lots of towels including 2 bath sheets, having satelitte tv in the bedroom....I can't say enough about our experience at Pilot Knob Inn and are already planning a return trip. Thank you Jennifer and Kathy for a fantastic time!

We have been to Pilot Knob Inn twice this past year and each time have thoroughly enjoyed our stay, once for our 39th anniversary in August and for my 63rd birthday in October. It is a very quaint place, the cabin atmosphere is very romantic, the inn keepers are super folks, and it's just far enough away in the woods to feel like you are really all alone in a big world. A great get-away place for couples!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much! We live only about 70 miles from Pilot Mountain, so it's a great getaway in a short amount of time. The accomodations, food and especially the scenery are exceptional. We first stayed at the Inn in 1992. Now that our children are older we hope to visit more often.

As any man will tell you, earning "at-a-boys" (earning points with the wife) are hard to do and especially keep. Our stay at the Pilot Knob Inn B & B earned me enough to stay in the plus side for a while, and when I run low again, I know where to earn more. Having missed our anniversary, number 27, (lost a lot of at-a-boys) and not taking away time for a family vacation, my wife stated "We need to get away for a trip." She prefers rustic cabins and I prefer "creature comforts". What a surprise when I read the offerings at Pilot Knob Inn B & B. I searched the web for others but kept coming back to this one. It had ALL the things we were both looking for . Porches to sit own and relax while enjoying stunning views, jacuzzi to soak in, sauna and a bed that you couldn't help but oversleep in. When we finally got stirring in the morning, we had a "more than excellent" breakfast of eggs, waffles, meat, coffee and juice. Our hostess gave us excellent information on local attractions and how to find them. We visited the lake but didn't have time to take out the paddle boats or fish. We ended our stay by going hiking on the mountain that we had been looking at during breakfast-- "Pilot Mtn. State Park" and from the hiking view was able to find the Inn from our view near the Pinnacle! I scored BIG "at-a-boy" points at this Inn and plan on coming back for more !

my wife and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at the Pilot Knob Inn Bed and Breakfast. The cabin that we stayed in was extremely clean and had all of the comforts of a fine hotel. The breakfast that was served was one of the finest you will ever eat. While we were there the leaves were turning, and the view of Pilot Mt. was beautiful. We hope to return in the spring. The staff there was very friendly and made sure everything was first rate . We enjoyed our stay and couldn't have found a more romantic spot to celebrate our 10th anniversary.

We felt like we were the only ones there. The breakfast was great and Jennifer and her husband Will were super friendly and sweet. The area there is beautiful. We took walks along the trails through the woods and just hung out on the front porch of our Cabin. It was all around a terrific experience and we will def. be back soon. My hubby and I have decided to make this place our little romantic getaway each year!!! Thanks you guys...we will NEVER forget our honeymoon!!!!

I found this B & B online. This was a gift to my husband to celebrate his retirement. Really it was a gift to both of us. We had a wonderful time. We stayed in the honeymoon suite looking out the sliding glass doors at Pilot Mountain. Wish we stayed longer. If we are in the area again we will most definitely stay there again. Decor was beautiful. You could go rustic or contemporary. You had your own privacy with your own bathroom. You weren't bothered by any maids unless you wanted to be. The breakfast was great, eggs, waffles, meat, fruit, pastries. Jennifer was great. Wished we lived a little closer we would go more often. We highly recommend this. We are telling all of our family & friends about this one. Next time we would recommend the suite with the hot tub outside the clorine fumes were a little much for inside. Next time I think we will stay in one of the cabins, we saw the castle that looked gorgeous. Pilot Mountain state park is a must see. We were there in middle of October it was a beautiful time of year. Hope to go back again soon.
5 on October 20, 2008
The service was outstanding, and the personal attention - only when wanted - was beyond our expectations. The setting was so peaceful and serene that we loved it - walking through the woods, sitting by the lake, or just sitting on the porch of our cabin reading a good book. After a summer filled with health issues for both my father and me, and his death at the age of 92, we needed some time away to unwind and relax...and just enjoy each other's company. Pilot Knob Inn B&B was just what the doctor ordered, adding a bit of nostalgia to the occasion by virtue of the fact it is located only a few miles from where my father was born and grew up. This was our first stay in a B&B, but after our experience here, we certainly wish we had come sooner. Rest assured, we WILL return, and that we will recommend it to our friends and family!

One week prior to our scheduled vacation at our time share, I sustained a serious injury that left me in the hospital for just under three weeks. After two months at home I finally got the okay take a VERY short vacation. My wife needed it as much if not more than I did, after all, she's the one that's done everything. We decided on the Yadkin Valley and so I started searching for a B&B. The ad for Pilot knob almost jumped out at me. My wife and I will have been married for 42 years this September and a Honeymoon Cottage just sounded right. When we checked in and went to our cabin and my wife saw "Honey Moon Cabin" next to the door... well, I made some points. Although I was only allowed two days, Jen, her husband Allen and their staff did everything possible to make a short stay a very memorable one. What a fantastic place for newlyweds and there were several there as well as a few our age... 21+. We've warned them, we will be back. Larry and Jurona Mobley Asheville, NC

This was a wonderful experience. I only wish our stay could have been longer. A way to change routine and relax. This was what we needed. The location is excellent, easy to get to and no hustle or bustle :) Everything was great from the moment we stepped into the cabin to the wonderful breakfast. Will return! Thanks for the hospitality!

A recent stay at Pilot Knob Inn gave me reason to appreciate the finer things in life that don't include material items you can purchase. Will and Jennifer Allen treat you like family and make your stay at Pilot Knob comforting, relaxing, and peaceful. The cabin combined with its' secluded setting and tobacco barn history was spotlessly clean with cabin charm and modern conveniences. I would recommend Pilot Knob Inn to anyone who thinks they need a little time to watch deer, appreciate the North Carolina wilderness and Andy Griffith country, revisit family values, and make memories to last a lifetime. I hope to visit Will and Jennifer again and can't thank them enough for their kindness and hospitality. Rick from Southwest Missouri

We really enjoyed our stay, the lake with paddle boats was a nice perk with the stay. It kept us busy-relaxing. The breakfast was phenominal, never had so much of a selection offered for breakfast! The staff was also very courtious and helpful, and provided lots of information for attractions and restaurants in the area. The only downside of our cabin was that could be difficult for some to get in and out of the tub, it's a big stretch!

After spending our wedding night here 2 years ago, we returned for the 3rd time. We come back to the Castle Room every year and greatly enjoy our stay. The location and view are perfect and the staff at Pilot Knob is great.

That's the way to describe the Pilot Knob Inn & breakfast! Quiet & peaceful get-away for the busy stressed couple. Time to relax and enjoy the things God has made that we don't always stop and look at! Best vacation in a long time!

We stayed at the Pilot Knob Inn on 06/19/2008. This is our second stay there. We love that it is less than 2 hours from our home in Charlotte, but you feel like you are a million miles away. The grounds and cabins are well kept, very clean with special touches everywhere. This is not a country club type atmosphere if that's what you are into. The owners and Cathy treat you like you are old friends....they really make you feel right at home. The only negative is that the pool is no longer open due to some inspection issues and they will not be able to re-open it.

My husband and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary here. We have been several times before and we think it is the best getaway anywhere. You feel as if you are in another world that is just so laid back and you have no worries at all. The inn keepers make everything perfect and it just gives you time to relax and enjoy your time together. We recommend Pilot Knob as the world's best getaway.

We chose to stay at the inn for a couple of nights during a business trip where we would be going back and forth from Winston-Salem and Greensboro. It was a terrific thrill to come back to our cabin each afternoon. The accomodations are adorable and take you back in time (with luxuries from today) ! We watched the deer gathering each morning and dusk. What a thrill! The ladies take superb care of your needs and do it with spring in their steps. We will definitely make a return trip when we can fully enjoy all the inn has to offer. Don't hesitate to book your room or cabin ! You won't be disappointed !

Nice cabins, secluded enough to feel private and remote, and close enough to vineyards/Old Salem/attractions to be convenient. We'll be back.
5 on July 21, 2008
We celebrated our 18th anniversary here and wondered why we didn't do it earlier. I work with 2 other people who have been here and we have talked another person into going. So far we have 3 5 star ratings where I work. Loved it and would definatly reccomend.
5 on July 21, 2008
What a great time we had! Beautiful views, close proximity to Mt Airy (and the Mayberry memorabilia) and Pilot Knob State Park, wineries and orchards. We enjoyed our privacy and our breakfasts were wonderful. We intend to return annually.

We stayed in the glass walled room and would highly recommend it - are planning to come back! The private outdoor hot tub is incredible, and the suite itself is incredibly romantic. The grounds are neat and well cared for, with plenty of quiet places to stroll. Highly recommend this inn.
5 on July 20, 2008
The Pilot Knob Inn has the market on the Southern Hospitality they are just the way you would picture going to Mayberry. This was the funnest experience we have ever had everything exceeded our expectations and we cannot thank Jennifer & Will enough for a fantastic place to esacpe. We cannot wait to come back for more!

My fiance' and I recently stayed at the Love Shack at the Pilot Knob Inn. It was an absolutely adorable cabin! It has a huge jacuzzi tub for 2 (that I might add we enjoyed tremendously)! There are several different sites to see around the location, however, the grounds are gorgeous. The breakfast they serve included in your stay was delicious! The owner & the woman that cooked breakfast were so friendly! They made you feel so at home! We can't wait to return! I would HIGHLY recommend this b&b to anyone for a very romantic weekend! Debbie Whittington & Jason Todd!

We were very pleased with our accomodations the cabin to me was extremely reasonable and we received a great breakfast too! I personally enjoyed soaking in the jacuzzi and watching the deers.

We were recently married (July 5th, 2008) in a small 200 year old Chapel in Tanglewood Park, NC and wanted to continue our vintage trend by visiting Pilot Knob Inn and spending our Honeymoon night in a beautiful rustic Log Cabin. We found Pilot Knob Inn on the internet, and although I've lived in NC most of my life I had never heard of them. The first word that comes to my mind to describe our one night visit there is "INCREDIBLE"! My new bride just moved to NC from S. FLA and she was absolutely in Heaven! The cozy charm and the rustic beauty coupled with every modern day amenity possible made our "Love Shack" (the actual name of our cabin) a truly unforgettable experience. It all started with about a 1-mile drive down a narrow dirt/gravel road into the wooded forest surrounding Pilot Mountain State Park. Although our arrival was after dark, one of the owners met us at the office with a key and a smile. Upon arriving at our Cabin we immediately got into the oversized Hot Tub in the bathroom area and sipped some chilled Sparkling Cider I had pre-ordered. Although they had Satellite TV, I don't think we ever cut the TV on! The next morning we got up and walked a few short yards to one of the best Hot Breakfast's we had ever eaten. We spent the rest of our time there exploring the trails and the lake where they had canoe's and paddle boats. Although we only had a one night stay there, it was definitely enough to convince us to come back for AT LEAST a long weekend or maybe more. We've both travelled all over North America, but this was beyond a doubt the most relaxing and tranquil place we have ever experienced. Absolutely a MUST SEE and MUST STAY for anyone looking to leave the World's troubles behind and escape to a solitude and comfort that only Pilot Knob Inn can provide. (Did I mention how comfortable the bed was??!!!) Mike & Janie Greensboro, NC

This was the best two night getaway my husband & I have had in forever! My best friend told me about the Pilot Knob Inn and it was just the place we were looking for Charming cabins with log beds and whirlpools it was like out of a storybook. The lady Jennifer was so sweet very quick to respond to my emails and very attentive when we got there! We will tell our friends and family.

The Pilot Knob Inn in Pilot Mountain North Carolina is the place to go for a relaxing time. This is where my wife & I go to unwind and get back to remember why we got married in the first place. The Pilot Knob Inn is a special place to us and we always look forward to our whirlpool for two!
4.6 on July 12, 2008
"P-i-l-o-t-K-n-o-b-I-n-n". The inn is even better than the website states and the staff is very welcoming. The locale feels like you're very far away from real life; yet, nature and popular attractions are a skip & a hop away. We were delighted with our cabin and are already planning when we can go back. Will definitely share this special place with friends and family!

We loved the atmosphere, the owners (Jennifer),Kathy in the kitchen, were great! The setting is incredibly private, beautiful.

Mayberry Getaway could not have been complete without a visit to the Pilot Knob Inn! This place made the trip worth it all. We stayed in the Yadkin Valley Honeymoon Cabin it was the best night sleep I have Ever had. We awoke to the smell of bacon there is no need to ever go anywhere else this is the place for Patsy & I.

We spent our Honeymoon here Twenty Years Ago and this place is still in business and actually better than ever before. We stayed in cabin #1 for our Honeymoon and came back and stayed again. Much improvements over twenty years and the price could not have been a better deal! Their breakfast is outstanding and we loved cabin #1. They have added a lake and boating! The hosts were very attentive to our every need.

I can see why the Pilot Knob Inn has been in business for over 20 years. They are the best bed and breakfast in this state and I have been to atleast twenty in North Carolina. We visited several in Mount Airy and want to say without a doubt this bed and breakfast is the cleanest and most well kept in the area. We also want to thank the innkeepers for going out of their way to make us feel welcome. Loved our room and breakfast was great.

I can say without a doubt this was one of the BEST trips we've taken in quite a while. The folks at Pilot Knob Inn go way beyond any other B&B we've ever stayed at for service and accommodations. We WILL return again and many of our friends who we've told about our trip are planning on using this B&B for their stay. This was a surprise Anniversary trip for my husband, I must say he was impressed!

I cannot tell you enough what a wonderful getaway this place provided for us. We stayed in cabin #2 it was so much nicer than we anticipated. The cabin was exceptionally clean it was spotless. I am a critic because I clean houses for a living. Huge lake with boating and fishing available for no extra cost. The breakfast was absolutely amazing and the staff was great. Loved the jacuzzi and the bath salts provided. Also I fell in love with the quilts they were beautiful.

My husband and I have visit this B&B twice now. The first time we stayed in the suite named heavenly Hideaway it was beautiful and cozy although you could hear some noise from the breakfast room but not too much. The breakfast was great and you even had options as to waffles or toast. The hospitality was great as well. We loved arriving to find directions to our room posted to the door. It made us feel like we were on an adventure. We felt very welcomed both times. The second time we stayed in cabin 1. It was very rustic but cozy as well. The bedroom was upstairs with the bathroom and small sitting room downstairs. At night, we saw deer running around on the property. As said before we had a great time! We hope to return again very soon.
3.6 on June 27, 2008
Loved this bed and breakfast and I will come back for sure. It was quaint, quiet, and had wonderful amenitites, like the whirlpool jacuzzis and outdoor activities to make you feel like you were truly getting away. Only criticism was that I do not think the whirlpool's jets were super clean as they left red, rusty-like marks at the waterline. Did not get to eat breakfast, so I cannot comment on that. Was one of the best bed and breakfasts I have ever stayed at.
The red rusty marks you are referring to is caused by Iron in well water which comes and goes, but sometimes is worse when we are in drought like conditions like we are now. It does seem to be most noticable when the jets circulate with the bubble action. I appreciate your kind comments about our inn and hope you will come back & visit soon & be sure to make it to breakfast next time!
5 on June 26, 2008
My wife & I have stayed at Pilot Knob Inn many times and it only gets better. The rooms, service and grounds are top notch. They are very reasonable and every time we go back we notice improvements which says a lot to us. This to us is the most romantic getaway in the south.

The Pilot Knob Inn Bed & Breakfast has preserved and perfected a piece of history that nobody should ever miss a chance to visit! Will & Jennifer were super friendly went above and beyond to guarantee our stay was perfect. There is nothing I could possibly complain about. Our place was extremely clean and the breakfast was above what we expected with generous portions. Lake was very peaceful and quiet I loved the fact that they do not allow children. We loved setting in the front porch rockers in the evening and on the balcony late at night. It was a dream get-a-way for anyone needing some R&R. The breakfast was wonderful each morning and the staff was great. We will definitely be telling all of our family and friends about our wonderful say at Pilot Knob Inn.

We went to Pilot Knob for our anniversary. The room was wonderful. I was very glad that they provided extra towels in the room, you usually have to ask for extras. The only thing that would make this place better is a little landscaping work, but in all fairness, it is located in the woods. They have a wonderful view of Pilot Mountain in the breakfast room and from the patio. Thank you for a great stay.

When you need to get away from the busy-ness or ordinary-ness of every day work and pressures and you want to reset your focus, energy, and priorities, you will find the natural beauty and quiet and comfort of Pilot Knob Inn a refuge and resting place. Just returned from a perfectly romantic getaway. The Pilot Knob Inn came highly recommended from some friends at work that had been going for years. We stayed in the Penthouse Suite which was extremely well appointed with Hottub & whirlpool, gas logs and satelitte tv and an eye shot Mountain View! Breakfast was delicious with plenty they even asked us if we wanted seconds (that is hard to find!) Plenty of fruit and assorted cakes! The lake was incredible for fishing as well! We cannot express how impressed we were with Pilot Knob! They have truly thought of every detail!

although our stay was quite short lived because I was taken ill and had to cut short our trip- the short stay we had was wonderful. The food was excellent and plenty of it. The staff most accomodating and friendly. We stayed in one of the tobacco barns. It was charming and most romantic. Would recommend a stay to anyone who wanted to get to know each other

I found the inn while searching for information on the tobacco barns in North Carolina, as we were planning a trip to photograph them. I figured what would be better than staying in a converted barn while hunting the countryside for some to photograph. Glad I did!! Absolutely beautiful! Kudos to the forward thinking folks that saved these awesome pieces of NC history...Just walking into one of the cabins, yoou could almost smell the curing tobacco. Can't wait to come back!!

We have been going to Pilot Knob Bed and Breakfast every year since we were married in 2003. The cabins are so peaceful. The breakfast is outstanding. They anticipate everything you might need, from logs for the fire to extra big fluffy towels for the large tub. There is a state park less than a mile away for romantic hikes and picnics and a pond for fishing, including row boats. I have stayed in many places in 46 states of our fine country. This place is exceptional in every way if you are looking for a rustic getaway.

This is truly one of our states hidden treasures with a historic touch mixed with modern convience. The rooms were great and the breakfast was outstanding. Anytime they were needed, the staff was more than accomadating. We have stayed in several Inns across NC, but this was by far our best adventure yet. The people at Pilot Knob Inn know that it is nice to be important, but more important to be nice. Thanks again for a Great Weekend.

This was my wife and I's second visit to this great place. The tobacco barn is the best (we stayed in the penthouse suite the first time fro our honeymoon). It's a great atmosphere and takes you back to a much more simple time. These cabins are extremely cozy. The breakfast is awesome-it was on our minds for the entire year until we made it back.

This was a perfect choice for our 15th Anniversary we chose Cabin #1 because of it's Mountain View. It was a great idea and we are only sad that we didn't find it sooner. We have three children and had not been away since our first one was born 12 years ago. We have decided to make it a yearly thing to come back to Pilot Knob as we read in the journals that was the thing to do. We loved it all maybe because we hadn't been away in so long or maybe because they are just that good! To us it is a special place and a two night getaway for us felt like a week. We were able to completely unwind.
5 on May 21, 2008
You must experience this for yourself to appreciate the way they have ideally preserved these 100 year old Tobacco Barn Cabins to make you feel as if you have stepped back in time. They are tastefully decorated and in a haven for wildlife. These cabins are tastefully decorated and even have whirlpools for two and real wood burning fireplaces. My wife and I sat on the balcony of our bedroom loft just getting back to the way life is suppose to be. We really needed our one night getaway and will be coming back. The breakfast was more than enough and served with style. Jennifer was very informative about the area and places to eat. To be so far away it is actually extremely convenient to the highway and lots of unique wineries. They even have rowboats on a lake you can fish too! I rate this place an A+! Ben and Sherri Thompson

Regain Your Sanity this is our place Pilot Knob Inn. To finally take the time to rock in a rocking chair and watch the wildlife as you just sit a spell and sip coffee on your porch. We have visited several times over the years and have just returned from our Pilot Mountain Getaway and cherrish it more every single visit. Very convenient to Greensboro and Winston Salem you feel hundreds of miles away, but only a short drive up the road. The local wineries are a wonderful added attraction!

We, like many others, have stayed in lots of B&B's as well as cabins all over the country. However, we have returned to the Pilot Knob Inn several times and hope to be able to do so many more. Here's why: woodburning fireplaces, choice of cabins or more traditional B&B rooms, and an amazingly wonderful and personable staff who manage to be extremely attentive and yet not overbearing. They are always there for you when you want or need them, but they truly understand your need for privacy and value it incredibly. The cabins are so cozy and historical and yet have all the modern conveniences. My husband loves to fish and I love to read and we have spent several wonderful afternoons doing both on the beautiful and peaceful lake. And, free boats!! The Pilot Knob Inn is where I go mentally when I need to drop my blood pressure several points. When we are lucky enough to go there in person we do not only that...but refresh, relax, and rejuvinate our relationship. Awesome, simply awesome! We are so glad we found this place...but now that the word is getting out...it's getting hard to get a room there! So, don't hesitate to book yours RIGHT NOW!! The only thing you'll regret is having to leave!!!

I brought my husband here for our second anniversary and found it to be one of the most Unique and Romantic places I have ever been. Just outside of Winston-Salem, North Carolina it only took us less than half an hour to find this wonderfully hidden treasure. It was all we could have hoped for and more. Will & Jennifer went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The breakfast was outstanding we didn't eat again till dinner. We stayed in the Heavenly Hideaway and it was Heavenly, Jennifer recommend it because it was on special we feel like we have found a wonderful place to go and met special friends in the owners.

The Pilot Knob Inn was absolutely the perfect place for a romantic getaway. The Castle Room has this unbelievable private deck that enters to your private Haven it has a King bed overlooking fireplace and dimming lights that surround this incredible room along with the largest jacuzzi and sauna I have ever seen. The entire property is "Kid Free" which is a real attraction for the adults needing some time alone we just live in Greensboro and will be returning to Pilot Knob a lot.

This was a perfect getaway! So close to Winston-Salem yet in a beautiful mountain setting. The Penthouse Suite was awesome! Very spacious and well-appointed. Large hot tub in front of the fireplace, jacuzzi tub in bathroom, separate comfy bedroom and really nice people! We'll definitely be back. Thank you!

We wanted a couple weekend, my husband and I. We went to Pilot Mountain and asked about places to stay. We were told about Pilot Know Inn Bed and Breakfast. Luckly someone cancelled and we had a room. The staff was great, the room was wonderful. I would recommend the place to anyone. It so peaceful and quiet. If you need to just getaway and relax this is the perfect place. We stayed one night and already have made plans to go back again. We loved it!!

Tasteful Decor not too frilly and fussy and most of all comfortable beyond words. The hostess, Jennifer met us with a beaming smile and great energy which must be needed to run this fine b & b. My wife & I stayed in the Pilot Knob suite with private balcony, and Private hottub. We were excited to find a bed and breakfast that had not forgotten the need for a good "Country Breakfast" this inn met all our needs and well surpassed our expectations. Cannot wait to revisit when we come thru this region again. Thank You Ever So Much!

The breakfast is wonderful - cooked to order. The innkeepers and maid are very friendly and helpful. The cabins are so cute and cozy. I love the seclusion of the property and closeness in proximity to Pilot Knob State Park. This has become the favorite getaway spot for my husband and I.

The Pilot Knob Inn was an excellent choice to spend an anniversary weekend they are very attention to detail and very pampering. We stayed in a Tobacco Barn Cabin and was very impressed. My husband caught five bass and we went to one of the local wineries for dinner. I cannot wait to return to feel pampered again.

My husband and I have stayed at the Pilot Knob Inn Bed & Breakfast many times, and we absolutely love it!!! It is the best romantic getaway we have ever been on. Our favorite is the Yadkin Valley Honeymoon Cabin. The king size bed is so comfortable, and the huge jacuzzi tub is so relaxing! We have also stayed in the Penthouse Suite and the Castle Room which are also fabulous!!! Another great thing about the Pilot Knob Inn is the wonderful breakfast! They have eggs, waffles, toast, sausage, bacon, coffee, orange juice, etc. Every time we have stayed there, the breakfast has always been wonderful and delicious! Lastly, one other great thing about the Pilot Knob Inn is the wonderful innkeepers, Will and Jennifer Allen, who go out of the way to make sure that your stay is absolutely perfect. Also, Jennifer's sister, Kathy, does most of the cooking and cleaning, and she does an outstanding job! We will definitely be coming back to Pilot Knob Inn for many more years to come! You could not ask for a better place to stay!

We made a last minute decision to get out of town for a couple of days. Found Pilot Knob Inn on a google search and the rest is history. We stayed in the Southwest Suite and it will be the one we request the next time we go back. The staff was more than warm and welcoming and we felt like they would do just about anything to guarantee our stay was perfect. Best compliment I think we can give is we did NOT want to leave.

These Cabins are amazing they have thought of every single detail to make your stay that of a 5 star place. My wife and I travel frequently and this place is so much nicer in person that what we had expected. They were like your oldest best friends. You can go with confidence that the owners love what they do and take incredible attention to detail of every single part of this inn. It was the best place we could have chose for an anniversary get away.

We slipped off for a weekend away from stressful jobs, kids and life in general. This place was Exactly as described on the website, but only better. Close to the Wineries and Andy Griffith's Home Town. The only problem we didn't want to leave to do anything we ordered the cheese and crackers and even skipped eating out the first night. This place is just what we needed.

This is the ideal place to forget all of your troubles. It isn't far from the highway but miles away from the hustle and bustle of the world. This is a relaxing resort for the perfect getaway from the quiet cabin with a hot tub to the breathe taking view. Everything you need to de-stress and reenergize.

My husband and I were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. We were high school sweethearts and married when we were 20. Now at age 50, with the family raised we were ready for some "our" time. What a great place. We stayed in cabin 4 and were very pleased. The fireplace and tub for 2 along with the great king size bed was wonderful. We will return often for a repeat. I highly recommend this quiet beautiful place to help you remember the person you married.
5 on April 12, 2008
We were most impressed with the Pilot Knob Inn where do you go and get a cabin for only $99 and get a full hot breakfast with bacon, eggs, waffles and more! The breakfast was great we stayed on a midweek night and could not believe the price when we saw it advertised and we didn't even realize we got breakfast and got to use the lake & boats for no additional cost. Of course this isn't their usual price but it is only $129 if you go on the weekend it is more, but for anybody that can go during the week they run some incredible specials and the staff was very accomodating. We will be back no matter what the price it was worth $249

The breakfast was wonderful homemade waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, country ham, canadian bacon, fresh squeezed OJ, fruit, danishes.....need I say more!! The rooms were very clean and all of the sheets and blankets smelled so good and clean. The owner Jennifer is just as sweet as she can be and the lady who helps her is a hoot!! This will not be our last stay here we loved it!!!

We fell in love with the Peaceful getaway located at the base of Pilot Mountain it is only 20 minutes from Winston Salem & a quick getaway from Wake Forest University where we attend. We needed a relaxing getaway from school and decided to go somewhere close. They had wireless internet so we could turn in some work & then the rest of the time we relaxed, went on the lake & even went fishing. Will & Jennifer were so sweet from making the reservations to making sure that everything was perfect for our stay. The cabin was so clean I could not get over it I mean it is a 100 year old Cabin how could they keep it so nice. They had the porch loaded with wood and we had a fire the whole time! We sat out on the balcony of cabin #3 & enjoyed the birds and nature. We will be back and cannot say enough great things about this wonderful getaway. Andrea and Jay

This Inn has really went above our expectations and we were very pleased with everything. We visited over Easter weekend and they were very busy and never once did we feel like we were neglected in any way they went out of their way to make us feel welcome, make sure we had everything we needed, served us breakfast each day with a smile and warm conversation. Our room had to be the absolute cleanest I have ever stayed in. The Pilot Knob Inn I recommend to anybody coming close to North Carolina or the Blue Ridge Parkway you have to visit. They will leave a lasting impression on you they have on me. Cannot wait to visit you again! Lorna & James Minnike

Oh My goodness I don't even know where to begin but when I opened the door to the Castle Room I was impressed to say the least. This room was better than anticipated we laid in the bed and on the victorian couch and watched the fire. Enjoyed the Sauna and the enormous whirlpool. Breakfast was so good and the breakfast room staff was so accomodating it was just impressive! We already tried to reserve this room for Next New Years Eve it's booked imagine that. My husband and I have stayed in the cabins for over 16yrs now. We go to celebrate our anniversary each yr (which is in Nov.) but we wait until after Christmas when we really need a break to go and unwind for a few days. I have stayed at other cabins in NC and Tenn. but these are the best by far!(#4 and #5 are our favorites) It is the most romantic place I have ever been. We love the loft bedroom with the big cozy bed and the whirlpool tub and the woodburning fireplace, which you can see from the tub. It is the perfect place to unwind and reconnect. This place was a treasure we found it online on bedandbreakfast.com and stay at bed and breakfast all over while traveling. This place was over the top with service, decor, accomodating staff, wifi, excellent breakfast and the Castle Room could not have been any cleaner it truly was amazing. We stay in all types of luxury accomodations and this inn was so reasonable compared to what an some inns would have charged atleast double for what we received. This will be a new stopping spot for us atleast twice a year. We want to try all the suites! Hats off to Jennifer & Will Allen you are the best!

We stayed at Cabin "O" for three nights and the only word which describes our stay is "Perfect". This rustic cabin with its woodburning fireplace was so cozy and romantic. The incorporation of the modern whirpool tub, etc., made our stay so enjoyable. The hospitality and warmth of the staff made us feel as if we had known them for years. The food was great and the service was excellent. We would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a romantic weekend getaway.

This Inn has got to be the best place in the area to stay. We go to Mt Airy several times a year and had just went to the same place we decided to try something different this being just about 7 miles down the road we have found something that totally fascinated us and we will never go anywhere else in the area they could never compare to this inn. We chose a suite because that is what we are usto we chose the Castle Room it was just wonderful. The ammenities were well appointed and the room had all the extras including all kinds of books for us to read some very interesting titles. There was a Whirlpool the size for three and a Sauna we cannot wait to return. The property was beautiful! Hats off to Will and Jennifer they do a remarkable job running a Top Notch Inn!

My husband & I stayed had the best experience at this inn of any place we have ever visited. The room was immaculate and with every ammenity included to make our stay just delightful. Our cabin was stacked with wood and firestarters & large box of matches to make it easy for us. The heat was on for us and the room was cozy. We enjoyed snuggling by the large fire we fixed every afternoon & kept it burning most of the evening. This cabin was just what we needed to take a break. The innkeeper let us know she was available if we needed her, but she never bothered her. At breakfast we got to mingle with the other guest as well. Everybody was pleased with their stay as they should be. Will & Jennifer also have a horse stable there on site and some of the most beautiful horses I have ever seen. I usto ride as a young girl so I loved petting them. The place well exceeded our every expectations and we will be back time and time again. We are recommending this to all of our stressed out friends for a much needed getaway! Martha and Joe

Quaint and relaxing tobacco cabin! All the conveniences of modern day with the quaint front porch, fireplace, and rocking chair...all in a beautiful private wooded setting! I am a female professional traveling from West Palm Beach, FL, visiting family in NC area and stayed for 3 nights. (Honeymoon cottage.) I enjoyed the complimentary WiFi in the cabin for work, with Direct TV, refrigerator & microwave, coffee pot, and a wonderful breakfast each morning. The staff prepared a tray for me, so I could enjoy the morning with a good book on the porch while enjoying my coffee and yummy breakfast. At night enjoyed a nice glass of wine on the porch...in this peaceful setting. Great hiking, wine tours, peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. VEry close to Pilot Mountain for additional hiking. Flew into Greensboro aiport from Miami and less than hour from airport. Very clean, great service, and helpful staff. I am a NC native, leaving in my 20's..so glad the owners have renovated this beautiful project and sharing it with others to enjoy a little history! Would highly recommend and planning my next trip to try and catch some snow!!!

After a long day of Christmas Shopping we stumbled across this wonderful b & b. We stayed in a Tobacco Barn Cabin it was great! My husband had been follwing me around all day and we were exhausted one store after another. This was the perfect night with the fire and the whirlpool! We were thrilled to have found this perfect escape from the real world. My husband may now be more willing to go shopping with me. The staff was wonderful in finding a place to recommend for dinner. We enjoyed everything and it was very clean (and I am picky lol) Loved it hopefully we will be back for the New Year!

Such a wonderful experience for a winter vacation. The cabin was very inviting & warm for us lots of firewood ready and stacked on the porch that impressed us. We had a great night and really enjoyed the great breakfast with lots of goodies! Then we topped it off with a day of wineries came back and nestled in to watch the fire and we will return again and again! Thanks so much to our wonderful host!

We spent 2-1/2 days in a tobacco barn renovated for use by the B&B. There are about six tobacco barn cabins and several other more modern facilities. We much preferred the barn! We were pleasantly surprised to find an ample supply of firewood stacked neatly on the covered porch. All rooms were clean, towels new and neatly stacked, and the bedroom inviting clean and neat. The jacuzzi bath was clean and in good working order. We were met as we drove into the parking area and personally shown to our cabin and the history of the site briefly reviewed. Basically the room was exactly as advertised or better! HWY 52 is a bit too close resulting in highway noises that did take a little away from the woodsy ambiance -- but we found it no problem. We read two books of entries from previous visitors in our cabin and found them virtually totally supportive with indications some have come back several times ... or they planned to return. We most certainly plan to return. The staff is very accommodating and helpful. The breakfast each morning was quickly served and very tasty. Coffee and OJ was served as we sat down at our table. You will have to bring food for lunch and dinner or go to any of the many restaurants in small towns nearby. This is a wonderful place with a truly wonderful view of Pilot Mountain! Go for it ... you'll not regret it.

We decided to do a wine tour on the Yadkin Valley Wine Trail so we choose the Yadkin Valley Honeymoon Cabin it wasn't our honeymoon, but it sounded like fun! We drank a lot of wine & found our way to Pilot Knob and our cabin it was great. We had so much fun we felt like teenagers again & the staff was a blast! We are going to get a group of our friends together & rent all the cabins and go fishing & grill out! The whirlpool was so big we got lost in it & do not use too many bubbles just a suggestion! I took my husband for a quick getaway in the Heavenly Hideaway Room since we had never been before we chose this room because it was the least expensive and on special. We thought for the extremely low rate we could not go wrong. We could not have been any happier every single detail had been thought thru there was not anything that was missing in our room. We had a very private suite and even with a full house we never knew it till the next morning when we woke up to go to breakfast and went outside the entire parking lot was full. The evening well exceeded out expectations and we will return to either that suite or another we got to view two other suites that we loved and will be back hopefully before the Spring time. We really enjoyed cabin #2 we picked it because it was the most secluded and we could not have been more pleased anywhere. We cannot wait to return. The wood burning fireplace was so enjoyable.

We had a perfect stay at Pilot Knob Inn we stayed in the Castle Room for our honeymoon night and the following night. We left and went on a cruise we wish we would have stayed in Pilot Mountain instead. We will be back to the Castle for our anniversary next year and every year. This was absolutely the cleanest room we have ever stayed in anywhere & breakfast was fantastic. Will and Jennifer were so friendly and accomodating and made us feel apart of the family. Kathy was more than a pleasure and they all attended to our every need See you folks next year!

Our rustic cabin in the woods was a complete pleasure. Wood stacked to the window & firestarters on the mantle. My wife & I stayed in cabin #1 we could not be any happier. Breakfast was great wonderful & so was the whole experience! We will be back next year for our Anniversary if not sooner I am so glad we found such a wonderful getaway not so far away! Don't use too much bubbles in the bubblebath! It's a good thing they put plenty of towels in the cabin I guess we aren't the first to do that! Cabin #1 is the best cabin! Kurt & Beverly Hassell

My husband & I spent two anniversaries at this lovely B&B. In 2006 in the Pilot Knob Room 2 nights which was a 2-room suite, equipped with refrigerator, coffee maker, our own private HOT TUB outside under the stars big enough for 6. Kathy, who works in the dining area does a magnificant job. You won't find a friendlier more accomodating person anywhere. The breakfast was abundant, on your table in 5 minutes of being seated. We had "the works" every morning, a belgian waffle, canadian bacon, country ham, sausage, scrambled eggs, fruit, juice and coffee. We could barely eat again by dinner time. A love room, the Pilot Knob Room. This year, September 2007, our 4th anniversary we stayed in the Penthouse Room. It's a two room accomodation with an L-shaped sofa in LR with floor to ceiling windows, a large HOT TUB in the LR by the gas fireplace. We turned the a/c down, turned those logs on and enjoyed the hot tub. The Penthouse has a 1-1/2 bathrooms. Jennifer, the owner, is a phone call away. She responded within 10 minutes when I accidentally turned the pilot off on the gas logs. We decided to make 2007 a three-night stay. Once I emailed Jennifer to add a night responded quickly and telephoned me to confirm so the room wouldn't get reserved by anyone else. We enjoyed the cheese, crackers, sparkling apple cider, cheese cake for two,a decanter full of truffles for $45.00 on both our trips. You can order treats online before your trip. Whether you want to go visit Mt. Airy, Pilot Mount, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Pilot Mountain State Park, or enjoy what's available right in these rooms, I would recommend this B&B to anyone. The rooms we stayed in had TV,DVD,VHS, and movies you can borrow. And don't forget to eat at Goober's and Aunt Bea's Barbecue in Mt. Airy, two of many good places to eat. Oh, -- and don't forget the many wineries in the area to visit!!! Thanks for a great time and we'll be seeing you soon! D&P Thompson

We stayed in one of the tobacco barn cabins for three nights it was one of the most pleasant stays I have ever had anywhere! The cabin was so quaint, cozy and clean. We were very suprised that an old tobacco barn cabin could really be this nice. My husband was raised on a tobacco farm and I thought he would really enjoy it. We had a fire at night and sipped a glass of wine that we purchased at the Vineyard earlier in the day. Breakfast was excellent with Country Ham, Waffles & eggs, apple cider & pumpkin cake. To say the least we really had a great time & will be back. We cannot wait to tell all of our friends!

The tobacco barn was the absolute cutest thing I have ever seen in my life we felt like we had stepped back in time 100 years or more when we walked in. They had the porch stacked with wood & firestarters for our fire, coffee, cream, whirlpool had bubbles waiting the loft bedroom was just so romantic the entire experience was better than we could ever have imagined and we will be back. We even took out a rowboat & went fishing and caught between my husband & I 12 fish in half an hour! We will be back before Winter is over this year! Shauna & Matt

My husband and I needed a quick getaway & nothing could have been better than the Pilot Knob Suite they had it listed on special thru bedandbreakfast.com & we found it thru your site it was the most incredible room I have ever seen the website does not do this place justice. We go to bed and breakfast all the time & have never seen a place like this it is so much more private than any other bed & breakfast. The breakfast was wonderful & the staff is so friendly they made you feel like you had been coming for years which we will be return guest for sure. We rate the Pilot Knob Suite #1!

From the moment we arrived we fell in love with the charming atmosphere of the rustic yet so upscale we had reserved the Castle Room and entering into our suite we could hardly catch out breath it had everything privacy, huge whirlpool larger than we expected & our own Sauna we were well pleased & the breakfast was wonderful. We spent our weekend touring wineries & went to Goobers & The Wolf's Lair all Jennifer recommended & it was wonderful the whole experience was great! The lake was just an added bonus we will go back in the summer when we can really enjoy that!

We visited the Pikot Knob Inn a couple weeks ago for a little mini-vacation and to rekindle an old romance. From the moment we walked through the door, we knew it was the perfect setting to get to know each other again. The first thing you notice walking into the tobacco barn cabins (we stayed in #4) is the wonderful smell of the wood...we enjoyed a cozy fire every night we were there while snuggling on the loveseat. The whirlpool tub was nice for a soak in the evening to relax and talk about what we'd done that day and what we had planned for the next. Upstairs, the bedroom was perfect complete with a small deck to head outside with morning coffee. The breakfast was wonderful and the innkeepers and staff were just fabulous--very friendly and offered some great suggestions on restaurants and local attractions to visit. We visited one of the recommended restaurants, Goobers, and enjoyed it. Great, fun atmosphere and a wide selection of good food. We also toured one of the local vineyards (Shelton Vineyards), sampled their wines and had lunch there. I highly recommend it--even though it was cold when we were there it made for a really nice day and we brought some wine back to the cabin to enjoy in front of the fire. Our stay got us off to a great new start and we'll definitely return for another visit in the future!
