Experience comfortable elegance in the heart of the Historic District. Built circa 1850 as a four room house for Benjamin and Eliza Ellis, the inn has been in operation since 1985. Several additions were made to the house as the Ellis family grew. During the civil war, Company K of the 45th Massachusetts Volunteer Militia occupied the house. The most interesting change was made circa 1900 when the house was sawed in half, separated nine feet, and a separate entrance and stairway was installed to construct two dwellings. The inn offers seven guest rooms and three suites, all with private bathrooms. The Benjamin Ellis Suite has a living room with a queen sized pullout sofa bed and a bedroom with a queen sized canopy bed. This arrangement is ideal for families. The romantic Eliza Suite has a King sized bed and features a heart shaped Jacuzzi tub/shower, perfect for a special romantic getaway. The William and Emily Suite boasts a four poster queen sized bed and a heart shaped Jacuzzi tub/shower. We are within walking distance to major area attractions, antique and specialty shops, and restaurants. Gift certificates available.

Harmony House is a very nice place to stay. Great location in town affording a walking distance to many attractions, such as the Tryon Palace. Like many structures built so long ago, this house has many interesting facets, as well as a rich history. Take time to examine some of the artifacts on the walls. We didn't see Ed too much, but Sooki is a wonderful hostess. Very friendly, accommodating and informative. Thanks Sooki! I gave three stars for most categories because the price is on the high side. For me, a higher price brings higher expectations. Those expectations were met, and Sooki gets the one notch above for Service.

Everything was very nice. Food was delicious and the owners were very personable. The room we had was very roomy. The house is old and had some old house smells. The mattress was very hard.

Fantastic value and the best location in New Bern. 2 blocks from the waterfront and also 2 blocks from the shops and restaurants. Plenty of parking and super comfortable beds! Its a very large B&B so you still feel as if you have the place to yourself. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!
Thank you so much for your kind words. We're so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. When we see such reviews as you have made it truly warms our hearts and helps us to continue working hard at our Inn. Again, thank you so much and we hope to see you again soon.

Porch is wonderful as is the location in downtown New Bern. Only real complaint is that the air conditioning was set much too low the night we were there.
Many of our guests love the front porch with the swings and rocking chairs. It's so relaxing to just sit and read a book. We really wish the guest had talked to us about the A/C when they were here. We never have any trouble adjusting temperatures either by using the thermostat or by closing or covering the A/C registers. If you plan to visit us, please ask us about adjusting the room temperature while here when we are able to do something about it.

I didn't realize that this B&B was in the historic district of New Bern. It is a charming B&B in a charming city with lots of little shops and and river and green space nearby. The innkeepers are friendly and the breakfast was very good.
