The Aerie is a proud member property of Select Registry, a BedandBreakfast Diamond Property, 3 Diamond AAA and the highest Mobil Travel Guide rated B and B in the area. We have also earned TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence in 2012 and 2013. Voted 2004-2012 as "Simply the Best B and B" in the region by readers of The Sun Journal.
The Kennebec Room is named after the innkeepers' first bed and breakfast in Long Beach, CA--Kennebec Corner. The wonderful four poster full lace canopy bed was in the old B and B and makes this room romantic and very special. The second floor location and large bay windows make an ideal getaway in this elegant and comfortable room. Jetted tub with a shower in a great bathroom complete the elegance of Kennebec.
Whirlpool bath in a truly romantic, elegant setting. There is a large Magnolia tree just outside and the theme carries into the room with artwork by the innkeeper, Marty Gunhus. Queen hand carved four poster bed with canopy makes Magnolia a great room. As with all of our rooms, linens that are the most comfortable you have ever slept on are featured. Magnolia is one of our larger rooms and is simply magnificent.
An elegant Victorian Suite with a 19th century king bed from Austria, Sheridan settee, and Late Victoria chairs compliment the sitting area. Great bath with large Whirlpool bath and shower make Tuscarora romantic and one of our most comfortable.
One of our largest suites with a king bed and a beautiful sitting area with two wingback chairs set in an alcove of bay windows. Another period wingback chair near the fireplace is the perfect spot. Romance and elegance in the Whirlpool bath and shower area make Carolina one of our best.
The Hidden Room offers secluded quarters with a private entrance just off the upstairs deck. The Williamsburg blue and ivory toile drapery reflect New Bern's colonial heritage while the romantically swagged four-post canopy bed and period furniture allow guests the opportunity to be part of a tranquil bed and breakfast experience with a little extra intimacy. Private bath with Whirlpool and rain forest shower in a polished white marble surround, period one-inch hexagon white marble floor and stunning fixtures make this bath truly spectacular.
The Basin Street Room harkens back to when Samuel Street built the home c.1882, and this cozy room was the upstairs bath, kept comfortable by the fireplace, decoratively in place today. The name refers to the room's original purpose (Basin) and owner (Street) and also to New Orleans' famed promenade where your innkeepers enjoyed their honeymoon. Stylish artwork depicting the French Quarter lends sophisticated charm to this quaint room with a pencil-post queen bed. The private bath with a walk-in shower features a shower tower with six body jets, rain shower head and a hand-held shower...no bathtub, but who needs one with luxury like this?
The Duck Inn Room was the room of Mary Ward whose family purchased the residence from Samuel Street in 1900. Mary Ward (1891-1979) lived in the home her entire life and during her later years divided the house into several apartments, renting them out during World War II. In fact, the current door to the room was once a closet and now guests over six feet may need to 'duck' their heads to enter a room with an eleven foot ceiling! Tasteful appointments and refined decorative treatments make this quaint, warm-hued room one of our most popular. A smaller room, but delightful in every way.
The Caleb Bradham Suite, our largest suite, is named to honor the legacy of New Bern's Caleb Bradham who invented Pepsi-Cola. A two-room suite, it is a beautiful mix of turn-of-the century and contemporary elegance. Stained glass lamps, a king-size, wrought iron bed and elegant furnishings complement this suite of rooms in every corner. The adjoining sitting room includes two loveseats that convert into twin beds, creating perfect lodging for 3 or 4 adults traveling together or for families. The whirlpool tub and is extra wide and perfect for relaxation. Located in our Guest House.
The King George III Suite honors the British Empire's ruling monarch at the time of Governor Tryon in New Bern. This suite's regal décor is fit for a king with an elegant, period queen bed, marble topped nightstands and an eight-foot armoire from Italy. The bathroom is designed with a large whirlpool tub plus a walk-in shower featuring a shower panel with multiple body jets and an overhead rain forest showerhead. A full window of period stained glass is centered over the jetted bath that is certain to capture your attention. Located in our Guest House.

This was the first time my husband and I stayed at a B&B and it was absolutely amazing. The Aerie is definitely a keeper and we will be back.

These people really have it down to a science! The home is beautiful and their knowledge of how to run a BnB is top-notch. Their recommendations (dining, site-seeing, etc) are spot on. Our room was lovely...and the bed was more than wonderful! Location is great as well. Breakfasts were delicious and the experience is one you'll never forget. Would definitely recommend, and stay there again!
