Sobotta Manor Bed and Breakfast

We needed a to get away, but were not able to go too far. I've never been to Mount Airy and found Sobotta Manor B&B on line. Boy did we hit the jackpot! Everything was perfect from the room, the breakfast, to the hostess. We were able to get some much needed rest, enjoy the surroundings, and wonderful company. I love that Main Street is within walking distance. We can't wait to go back. Five stars are not enough.

Stayed here for 2 nights as we explored Mt Airy wine country. Big rooms; comfortable beds, 5 star / 3 course breakfast and a charming host. Could not ask for more!!

The Bedroom and Breakfast were outstanding, could not have been better...after all, isn't that what a Bed & Breakfast should be all about!! However, there was much in the way of a bonus that added to our stay; hospitality, laid back, restful, stories, history, quiet, location, basically, very upscale-small town "Mayberry"!!! My wife and I plan to go back!!

this was our first experience at a bed/breakfast - and we were not disappointed! Everything from the first minute we arrived surpassed our expectations! We were planning a return trip on our ride home!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house was decorated beautifully for the holidays and our breakfast was fabulous. The Inn was very accommodating by providing a roll-away bed for our son to sleep on and Robin made an excellent recommendation for a local dinner spot that was delicious. I can’t say enough good things about Sobatta Manor.

We had a very lovely stay for just the one night we were there. We had to cut our three day visit short because of a death in the family and they were very accommodating about it. We look forward to returning to experience Mayberry in the spring.

My husband and I along with our "four-legged" child stayed 3 nights at Sobotta Manor and it was the most wonderful B&B we have ever experienced. I had researched many places to stay in the area it online. We were going to visit the NC wineries and needed a good location to make our base We were soo glad we chose this one. It was even more beautiful in person than the website shows. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and felt right at home. This place just felt very homey the minute we stepped in the doorway. Beautiful fall decorations adorned every room and each room had gleaming hardwood floors, lovely antiques, oriental rugs, and all the amenities of home. Our room was warm and inviting with wine color walls and ensuite bathroom. The King bed was heavenly... like sleeping on a soft cloud. It was a welcome retreat after a full day of touring the area. We enjoyed sitting in the parlor each night chatting with the Inn Keeper Robin and her assistant Christy about the area and activities to do. They were very helpful with a wealth of information on the area restaurants, wineries, etc. and we definately enjoyed getting to know them as well. Our four-legged child got lots of love and attention by the girls. Being pet friendly for well mannered pets was certainly a big plus for us as it can be very daunting to find accomodations that allow them. Robin has pets herself and she understands that they are truly family members. Breakfast time is not to be missed! The dining room table was elegantly decorated in warm fall colors and the place settings were gorgeous. We had a fabulous breakfast each morning , both the presentation and the food were outstanding...my personal favorite was their signature collards and ham quiche! I even picked up a delicious new recipe or two! If you get the chance to visit this B&B I highly recommend it...you will NOT be dissappointed! Jan and Steve....and Brinkley

My husband and I utilized Sobotta Manor's elpoement package and what a wonderful experience it was!! We were waited on hand and foot, provided with excellent accommodations and the food was absolutely fabulous. We intend to return each year for our anniversary :) I can't thank you enough for making our special day perfect in every way. You guys are amazing!

Three wonderful nights at this lovely and gracious establishment. Wish we could have stayed longer. Room well appointed and comfortable (and quiet.) Robin conducted two days of wine tours (5 wineries each day) including picnic lunch with linen napkins. Breakfasts were a joy - to the eye and the taste. Beautiful large gardens for nice walks. What a delightful find! We spent two nights and the owner even baby sat our Shi Tzu so my wife and I could have an adult dinner at Trios in downtown Mt. Airy. The accomodations were exceptionally clean and comfortable. Wish we could have stayed longer.

I had a wonderful stay at the Sobotta. Robin and Christy were excellent hosts. They made me feel right at home Their breakfasts were delicious. The inns decor and gardens are very inviting. I had room #1 on the first floor. I loved the marble shower that also has a built in bench to sit on. I loved Sobotta so much that I stayed an extra night instead of heading home. I will ddefinitely be going back to stay there.

This was probably the highlight of our fall vacation . Had never been to Mr. Airy before and I was really thrilled with Soboto Manor. Wish I could have stayed longer. I would rate Christy, the chef, probably a 5-star. The food was fantastic. They were very accommodating in making our stay very comfortable and relaxed. We stayed at Sobotta Manor for the second year in a row celebrating Mayberry Days, 2012. Sobotta is as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. We arrived earlier(11a.m.) than the 3 p.m. check in time, but was met graciously by Christy who immediately welcomed us in and showed us to our second floor room. The room was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Breakfast was served each morning promptly at 9 and on some days the time was changed to meet the needs of all of us guests. Breakfast was at least 2 courses and very elegantly prepared and served....a treat all in itself and was looked forward to each morning....(The recipes were even shared with us). We were given our own key to come and go as we pleased. In the evenings there was always dessert and coffee and cold drinks available to us. Robin and J.R., the owners, were very gracious hosts and engaged us all in friendly fellowship with each other Sobotta is within walking distance of the main town, shops, theater, museums, restaurants, and the friendliest people you will ever meet. We booked Sobotta again for next year's Mayberry Days, 2013, not only for the beauty of Sobotta, but for all the new friends we meet each year.

Mt. Airy is promoted as The Friendly City and it certainly was. The people were warm and welcoming. Sobatta Manor was a wonderful stay. The house and gardens were beautiful, very well kept and very clean. Enjoyed visiting w/ the other guests and also had plenty of privacy. The home was an easy and enjoyable walk to Main St. and surrounding areas. We enjoyed great food, wines, shopping and sites.

Great little B&B in a small town. Perfect for our one night stay over on a long trip back home! Nothing beats a bottle of wine on the side porch before a nice long sleep in the beautiful rooms!

We spent five days at the Sobotta and enjoyed every one of them. We felt as though we were in our own home. The sitting room was beautiful with comfortable furnishings. The patio was delightful and a great place to visit with other guests. Christy's breakfasts were amazing! I wanted to steal every one of her recipes. The presentation was professional and a joy to look at each morning. We would go back in a heartbeat if we just had more vacation time!

Very enjoyable stay. The house was lovely and not overdone. Loved the old room keys and the architectural details. Breakfast was delicious and ample. The garden was a delight as was the side porch for morning coffee. Nice walking distance to downtown Mt. Airy.

I found the Sobotta Manor on the web while looking for a place for my wife and I to stay near the Galax, Virginia area. We originally intended to stay there for two nights but ended up staying for three. Sobotta is a beautiful inn (inside and out) located within walking distance of the Andy Griffith Museum and downtown Mount Airy. Robin's breakfasts were an outstanding gourmet tour de force. Each morning's offerings were different and delicious. Our hosts gave us two of their season passes to see a live performance of a local Beach Music band at the Mount Airy Ampitheater. Being originally from the west coast, our concept of beach music was entirely different than what we found Carolina Beach Music and the "Shag" to be. It was an enjoyable education for us. My wife and I have stayed in many B & Bs including some that are/were lighthouses and we both think that Sobotta Manor is an outstanding value in a remarkable location.

I have stayed in several B&B's and Sobotta ranks right at the top. The pictures are up to date and accurately reflect the beauty of the house. Breakfasts were hearty, delicious, innovative and beautifully served. The staff was friendly and accommodating......If the light in the bathroom (over the sink) had been working I would have ranked the room outstanding, also. I would definitely recommend Sobotta Manor to my friends!

We had the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation experience. Our hosts became instant friends.We were treated like family even though we were only there overnight. The ambiance was very homey. The room was very lovely and the bed was very comfortable. We were very pleasantly surprised with the gourmet breakfast. The menu was comparable to any high end restaurant. We dined with two other couples and enjoyed each other's company. We will absolutely return especially to take their winery excursion in their Limo.

We really enjoyed the cleanliness, service and friendliness of Chris and Kristy. We are also keeping Chris and his family in our prayers.

The Sobotta is tops when it comes to Bed and Breakfasts and was a perfect retreat for our 10 year wedding anniversary. The hosts are gracious, the food is wonderful and the location is very close to downtown Mt. Airy. I enjoyed my stay so much that I wish I could go back again this weekend!

We stayed at the Sobotta over a weekend and had a great stay. The house is beautiful and immaculately kept, and the breakfast both mornings was exceptional. It was also a short walk to "Mayberry". I highly recommend the Sobotta for anyone visiting Mount Airy.

I couldn't bear to just go to the Mecklenburg County Courthouse to tie the ultimate knot and was so glad to come across this little gem in the heart of "Yapa" Valley. Considering the fiancé popped the question in Napa Valley- being a Carolina girl I knew I wanted to take him to the North Carolina version for our wedding night. It just so happened as I was looking for a place to spend that night, I found Sobotta Manor- and they offer “Elopement” packages!!! It basically fell out of the sky- thank you! I all but blindfolded the poor man who was to become my husband; just told him to take the day off and dress for an outdoor wedding. We weren't sure what to expect- the main owner Robin was out of town with her family so the home was left in the care of Christy, the innkeeper and JR, Robin's husband. If you only speak to JR on the phone, you might not get the sense that Sobotta Manor is his labor of love, or that he has the warmest look in his eyes when he smiles. But it is, and he does. I woke up bright eyed and very much enjoyed the specially prepared patio breakfast- complete with our flowers from the day before and a perfectly put together wedding album Christy had made after she got off work the night before. Was an absolute dream, and all thanks to the people in it. Sorry this review is painfully long but it WAS our wedding day, after all... ;) If you made it through- thanks for reading, and do put Sobotta Manor on your trip list.

I was looking for a place that was quiet and relaxing - it was everything I was looking for and more. The rooms were beautiful and Christy made it cozy and enjoyable. The food was also great! We'd go there again in a heartbeat!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay and if we return, we will certainly stay again. Very relaxing and the best breakfast ever.

Our wonderful breakfasts were served in the dining room with style, and the food was absolutely wonderful. Each morning we treated to a different 3 or 4 course delight, ranging from French toast to Quiche - and all different. We spent 4 nights and never had the same breakfast twice. We thought we'd try our first B&B and so glad I chose the Sobotta Manor to spend our vacation at. It’s hard to know how to start to describe the experience. Staying in this grand old home with JR, Robin and Christy, was like a trip to visit friends. They were exceptionally friendly and very knowledgeable about Mayberry and the wineries and helping us get around, yet giving us our privacy. Perfect is the word! We stayed in room #3 located on the second floor. Our room was so beautiful and tastefully decorated. There was a peace about our room and the Inn, that when we weren't touring/tasting, we cuddled in our room and read or strolled through the beautiful gardens. Our room was very clean, no complaints. This is our second time here and we were very happy with our experience both times. It was very clean and the hosts are great at making you feel comortable. The house is beautiful and very cozy with gorgeous gardens to venture thru. If you are wanting to see Mayberry and have a nice relaxing place this is the place to be.

We were fortunate that Sobotta Manor had one room available when we called on Friday afternoon at 2:30 PM. It was a lovely room that was very quiet overlooking the street. Thoughtful details in the room and bath were evident and we had everything we needed for a restful stay. The innkeeper gave us good advice about local dining, and the breakfast the next day was quite special. We only had a short visit and did not have time to enjoy the gardens or socialize as we had to get back to Raleigh with a rental car. We recommend this B&B for visitors to Mt. Airy.

We loved our stay at Sobotta Manor - what a lovely home and we appreciated all of the extras that made it so special! The room was gorgeous and the bed was so comfortable! Jean and I had the most delightful visit. The Inn itself was most accommodating and the Innkeeper, Christie, was a fabulous host with the most amazing culinary skills - as taught by Robin, the co-owner, of the Sobotta Inn. The Inn was adorned with fascinating antiques and given it was the holidays during our stay included very festive decorations. The breakfast meals were equivalent to dining at an upscale Los Angeles restaurant - each entree was as delightful to look at as it was to eat. A truly wonderful gem in the midst of Mayberry RFD.

My husband and I have stayed in a lot of B&B's and this one ranks high on our list. Christie, the manager, was very friendly and suited to the job. We had some interesting conversations with her. Breakfast was excellent. The location is just right for touring Mt. Airy and surrounding area. One thing I liked about our room was the bathroom. Each bedroom has it's own original bathroom, not an add on. Sometimes bathrooms added later in older houses tend to be small. These are spacious with original tile. Our bed was comfortable as well. We would not hesitate to recommend the Sobotta Manor to our friends and family.

The Sobotta Manor Bed and Breakfast was like visiting in a beautifully appointed early century home. Christy, Innkeeper, made us feel as if we were visiting family. Accommodations were excellent. Breadfasts were very tasty. The weekend was a gift from our staff; they chose well.

This is a do-over for us and we will be bringing many of our friends with us on other weekend trips to the area. The Inn is beautiful and very well kept. I can recommend a stay here without hesitation.

From the moment that I talked with Robin on the phone the service at Sobotta was outstanding. They provided us a special stay and helped us celebrate our engagement wonderfully! The food in the morning was great as well. I am sure we will make more trips to Mount Airy and will stay at the Sobotta Manor.

The Sabotta Manor is a beautiful and comfortable inn, run by equally special people (and two small, friendly and very special pups!). Owners Robin and JR are accommodating and attentive, and are very helpful in advising how to navigate the local area, including the "Mayberry" village of Mt. Airy, local restaurants, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the wineries, etc. Be sure to treat yourselves to JR's wineries tour in the manor's luxurious limo; you can see the beautiful countryside, taste all the wines and leave the driving to him. He is a wealth of information regarding the wineries and their restaurants. The manor's breakfasts are exceptional, and innkeeper Christy is an artist in the kitchen. The home itself is beautiful. Our room was comfortable and spacious, with a large bathroom and walk-in closet. The bed was extremely comfortable, as was the furniture throughout the manor. The Sabotta Manor is worth a trip to Mt. Airy. We will be back.

We were given the trip to Sobotta Manor from our children and grandchildren for our 50th Wedding Anniversary. We absolutely loved it. The warmth of the home and the hostess's was Wonderful. We loved our stay at the Sobotta Manor! We were traveling with another couple, celebrating a retirement and our 30th anniversary. The Sobotta Manor was so comfortable, welcoming, beautifully furnished, and served a wonderful breakfast-southern hospitality at it's best! Staying at bed and breakfast inns while traveling was a new experience for us, and we would definitely stay at Sobotta Manor again.

I travelled solo to VA to visit family in June. I used the Sobotta Manor as my stop over. What an elegant English Tudor home. My bedroom was very spacious; bathroom adequate. The hospitality was over the top and so was the breakfast. I would definitely stay there again. I am a gardener and loved the secret gardens in the back yard. The only negative - I was a little concerned that I had to park my car over night on the main street going into town. It is a small town and not a lot of traffic, so it worked out ok.

Sobotta Manor far exceeded our expectations. It is a beautiful property with outstanding decor, service and dining. Robin, JR and Christy were gracious hosts and our two breakfasts were excellent. Clayton and Cher really made it like home. Sobotta Manor was worth the drive off of the interstate for our road trip.

Stayed at the Sobotta Manor during our driving tour of Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway. Christy was very accommodating about our uncertain arrival time. Our room was comfortable and nicely appointed. The covered porch overlooking the gardens was comfortable and a great place to read or do a puzzle. We were encouraged to be at home and it really felt that way. The public rooms are inviting and comfortable. Easy walking distance to "downtown". Christy provided great directions and recommendations for dinner. Breakfast was excellent, just the proper size portions and very delicious. Two small drawbacks, the old fashion key system was inconvenient and I would be concerned if I had to leave the room in a hurry and the parking on street, on a fairly well traveled road. Would recommend to anyone stopping to visit Andy Griffith's hometown.

Do not pass up the opportunity for this experience: Beautiful home,gracious innkeepers and so comfortable! You will love your time here, and you will want to return!

This is my fifth stay with Sobotta Manor and I am NEVER disappointed in the accomodations and in the hospitality. I really look forward to staying there. I always think that I should go in to the city; but I enjoy too much the rooms, gardens and the terrace , to leave it to go into town. I look forward to my next stay at Sobotta Manor.

The inn was outstanding and Christy made us feel that we were home.

It is a lovely place and the hostess was especially pleasant. The gardens are pretty and we enjoyed sitting on the porch for relaxation. The bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in and the table at breakfast was attractively set and the food was wonderful. We highly recommend it.

Our host Christie was very helpful with things to do in the area, also a wonderul cook. I can't tell you how great breakfast was! We came home and called our friends to recommend Sobotta to them, and are already planning another stay there. Ted & Hilda

The Sobotta Manor B&B proved to be even better than expected. The interior is absolutely wonderful. The furnishings are beautiful and the beds were absolutely incredibly comfortable. Each bedroom has its own bath and the suite I stayed in was lovely. We made wonderful use of the lovely backyard garden area, the side covered porch and wonderful living room with fireplace. The breakfast was beautifully presented and very tasty. My only regret is that I did not have most days to spend there. I highly recommend this B&B.

My husband and I were interested in spending a weekend in the Yadkin Valley area to be able to visit several of the wineries. We had recently received a BedandBreakfast.com gift certificate, and wanted to use that as part of our getaway. Our search lead us to discover the perfect gem of Mt. Airy - The Sobotta Manor Bed and Breakfast. Our stay was PERFECT! Immediately upon arrival, we were treated to fresh baked cookies complimentary soda/water and a walk through the lovely back yard garden. Our room was beautiful and the bed was so comfortable, I felt like I was sleeping in a cloud! Breakfast each of the two mornings we stayed was phenomenal! Christy was so friendly and attended to every need of all of the guests. Plus, our use of their Excursion Limo with a driver to be able to visit so many wineries in one day was amazing. When we return to the area to visit more wineries (since you can't possible do all of them in even one weekend) we will definitely consider staying at the Sobotta Manor Bed and Breakfast for more Southern Hospitality at it's best!

While traveling on business, I had the pleasure of staying at this B&B that came highly reccomended and had no regrets! Very nice!!

My husband and I had spent 4 days with two of our grandchildren and were pretty tired. The Sobotta Manor was a beautiful way to get refreshed and revived for the 8 hour drive back home.

My sister and I (in our 50s) always loved the Andy Griffith show so we wanted to visit Mr. Airy. We wanted to stay in a really upscale nice place within walking distance. The Sobotta was certainly the right choice. We loved it, wished we could stay a week. We will go back soon and stay there again. The innkeeper was just like a friend when we met her.

If you are traveling to Mt. Airy, NC, choose Sobotta Manor Bed and Breakfast. The decor is lovely. Neat and clean. Our room was very spacious and the bed so comfortable. Christy was a great hostess and the breakfast outstanding!

I very much enjoyed our stay at the Sobotta Bed and Breakfast. This was our first visit but certainly not our last. The stuffed french toast and pineapple sage sausage was wonderful. The service was extraordinary. We were very pleased with our room, great decor and comfy bed. If you need a quiet getaway this in the place to go and unwind. The innkeeper of this inn will make you feel at home right away. I highly recommend this to everyone.

we had a great time, beautiful accommodations, incredible breakfast.. my only issue was that our room was not made up in the morning. We were asked if we needed fresh towels, if we wanted the bed made up, we had to ask. Not a big deal, but I have never had this at a B&B before. When I go away, I like to be pampered which includes having someone else make up my bed

Staff was a great help with making reservations for dinner etc. We had everything we needed. Beautifully docorate d. The beds were amazing!!!

Our stay was outstanding. It has been years since we stayed at a Bed & Breakfast. We thought we would try it at My. Airy, since it was with in walking distance of the town. We were not disappointed. We were greeted as soon as we arrived, helped to our room and the explained places to visit, eat, etc. We had a great time and both of us believe it was because of stay at Sobotta.

Robin & JR were wonderful hosts. We had never stayed at a B&B before and weren't sure what to expect but their hospitality made us feel as if their home was also ours.Their wonderful personalities shown in the stories they told of the history of the "manor" and it's beautiful gardens. The rooms were BEAUTIFUL, spacious, and clean with a VERY comfortable king-sized bed. We would HIGHLY recommend this B&B to anyone looking to spend time visiting in Mt Airy, NC.

Sobotta Manor was better than our expectations. We had never been to a B&B and decided we would celebrate our 40th anniversay at Sobotta Manor. We are now sold on B&B's we had such a wonderful experience. The house was decorated beautiful for fall and our room was very clean and comfortable. I would have loved to take the bed home with us. The food looked too good to eat and tasted even better. Robin and JR were the perfect Hosts. I would highly recommend on giving them a try and you will be like us, can't wait to go back. I recently stayed 2 nights at the Sobotta Manor B&B and had a wonderful time! The home is absolutely beautiful and everything was done to perfection. We've been to many Bed & Breakfast homes over the years and have found this jewel in the rough. It is a historic home with the most modern conveniences that make it stand out among the very best in the country. The extra special catering to our needs and desires was tops on the agenda for both host,Thurman Hester, and hostess, Robin Hester. Highly recommend this Mt. Airy, North Carolina, home to all who travel in this direction.

...in fact you may fall in love with Sobotta Manor like we did, our original itinerary was for 2 nights but we decided to stay another. Robin, Junior and Christy were the most gracious hosts we could have hoped for. It was our 10th anniversary and we could have stayed anywhere, lucky for us my wife found Sobotta Manor and being the dog lover she is was immediately attracted to due to Cher and Clayton the "Real" furry four-legged owners. The rooms and amenities were immaculate and luxurious, the breakfasts were fabulous and the hospitality priceless. We took the wine tour with Junior and were amazed at the variety of the vineyards Take the tour you will not regret it, but remember finish with the zip line. Will we stay again? What a great place to stay. A beautiful house, a great room and wonderful hospitality. The breakfast was wonderful. My wife and I enjoyed reading and relaxing in the parlor area. The bed was extremely comfortable. It was the little touches that made this a special place like making your own coffee anytime in the Keurig coffemaker and the fresh cookies. If your in the Mount Airy area I would highly recomment this B & B.

The photos were beautiful, and the room was great. Comfortable bed, but the t.v was tiny in a large armoire. Bathroom only had a sit in tub with hand shower, okay.....but would have liked to have known it. No wine reception. Owner way to interested in using the blower to get rid of leafs....it was fall, I expected to see some leafs. Breakfast was good.....hostess was very nice and personable.

What a great B&B. The houses is beautiful , the breakfasts were out of this world and Junior, Robin, Clayton & Cher were the wonderful hosts. All the extra touches such as coffee, water and soda available all the time along with the magazines and books made you feel as it you were at home. We loved being able to walk into town. "Mayberry" is charming and everyone is so friendly. With the vineyards and Blue Ridge Parkway so close, there is lots to do. We will definitely be back to stay at Sobotta Manor again.

We enjoyed our second visit to Sobotta Manor and will plan to go back next year. The Inn is relaxing and lovely, with wonderful accomodations. The breakfasts are fantastic and the Inn-keepers are friendly and helpful. Having stayed at other B&Bs before, I would have to give this one a top rating on food, service and rooms. We love being able to walk downtown and feel a part of the small town atmosphere. The location is also great for checking out the Yadkin Valley wineries.

Such a beautiful house. Robin and Junior made us feel like part of their family, providing information abour Mt. Airy and local restaurants. The grounds and house are imaculate. Most comfortable bed ever. Getting to visit with the other guests before breakfast was most interesting, and the breakfast itself was delicious and so well presented. We have visited Mt. Airy twice so probably will not be going there again, but if we do we most certainly will stay at Sobotta Manor.

My first experience with a bed & breakfast, so I have nothing to compare it to. But I had a great time. Robin & J.R. were fantastic hosts and Christy was very cordial & helpful. As my wife said, "I felt like a guest ... not merely a customer." I think that covers it. We also enjoyed getting to know the guests who stayed both nights that we did.

This is our third visit to the Sobotta Manor and as usual our stay was wonderful. You couldn't ask for a better place to stay. Robin and JR. are like family and make your stay extremely comfortable. My husband and I wanted to stay at a bed and breakfast in Mt. Airy, so we looked in the internet and chose the Sobotta Manor. We were more than pleasantly surprised at how lovely the grounds were and the home is in wonderful condition. Very clean and inviting rooms. The innkeepers were so warm and inviting we felt as though we had known them forever, and to say that the breakfast was wonderful is just not enough. It was served so elegantly and it was so good you didn't want to leave the table. I truly hope we can visit there again.

We have now been to the Sobatta Manor three times and have taken the wine tour twice and are looking forward to our next visit. The rooms are luxurious, the food outstanding, and the service is excellent.

Recently, we planned a trip with our friends from Ohio; we wanted to meet half way and Mt Airy was perfect...what we didn't know is where to stay until we found the Sobotta B & B. We did our research and agreed it was the place to stay. When we arrived, we were greeted by Christy who gave us the grand tour of the lovely home; she was very helpful for our visit recommending things to do and places to eat. Then we went to our room! Oh my goodness! It was so spacious and beautiful....we even had our own private bath. We felt so at "home"!!! Then the great surprise in the morning....an awesome, filling breakfast!!!! Each morning we were surprised with something outstanding. I also found out that they were pet friendly! The B & B has one room that allows pets:) The gardens were so beautiful and peaceful!!! Thank you for a grand time! We will definitely go back to the Sobotta B & B!

Luckily, my husband and I booked a room at the Sobotta via their website just 5 days before our arrival date, and I have no regrets. The home was beautiful and tastefully decorated. On our arrival, my husband and I noted the warm and inviting ambience of the foyer and parlor - the furniture wasn't antiquated, but rather, a cozy place to just sit and relax or read (there are lots of fairly current books and mags). Our first floor room (#1) has a private entry, and was beautifully decorated in my favorite colors of greens, plums and taupe. Also, did I mention the sheets? They are the softest, most luxuriant sheets this gal has ever slept in! The owners were away on vacation, but Christi (sp?) took good care of us. She was a one-woman show - breakfasts were excellent, as anticipated, and we had great conversations around the table with the houseguests, and Christi chimed in with suggestions for dinner and things to do locally. What else can I say? Of all the B&B's we've visited, The Sobotta is in my top three favorites!

When we decided on taking a trip to Mt. Airy, NC to spend a few relaxing days without spending it in a cookie cutter hotel, we searched the Internet and came across Sobotta Manor B&B. A good photographer can make a dump look like a castle but we felt that this would be a castle and we were so right. The Hesters kept a beautiful home much as it was when built. The woodwork is amazing, everything is spotless and no expense has been spared to make a stay very pleasant. We were greeted at the front door by Cher and Clayton, who thinks he owns the place. Cher especially loves tummy rubs and will allow you to spoil her to your heart's content. The beautiful garden at the rear of the home is tended faithfully by Jr and is a very peaceful spot to sit and read, meditate, whatever. Borrow a book from the library if you wish. Main St and many of the local attractions are within easy walking distance or a 5 minute drive. Each morning's breakfast was made fresh and included fresh fruit and berries as well as tomatoes fresh from their garden. Coffee and tea are always available as well as a fridge stocked with cold beverages. We enjoyed our stay and don't hesitate to recommend you spend some time with the Hesters at Sobotta Manor.

You will NOT find better people or personal service than you will at Sabotta Manor. I stayed there last weekend on a NC vineyard weekend getaway and was blown away by Junior and Robin's hospitality. The inn is absolutely beautiful while also feeling like home. Robin's breakfasts are OUT OF THIS WORLD. I would recommend Sabotta Manor to anyone looking for a special weekend away from home.

I had the most amazing experience at Sobota Manor B and B. I went on a wine tour with 9 other girlfriends and we all had nothing but a great experience and fantastic things to say about Robin and Junior. The food, service, generosity and kindness were outstanding. They catered to our every need. I will definitely be going back soon.

We just got back from a weekend at Sobotta Manor Bed and Breakfast and the weekend can be summed up in one word...Incredible. Mr. and Mrs. Hester are two of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. They are not only amazing people but run an outstanding B and B. The food was incredible, the decor is impeccable, and the hospitality was first class. This was my first B and B experience, but I know that the bar has been set high and will be hard to top or even come close. I am counting down the days until I get to go back. You are in for a vacation of a lifetime at Sobotta.

The Sobotta Manor far exceeded my expectations! The house was beautifully decorated and was kept immaculate! I had one of the best nights sleep at the Sobotta, and Robin's cooking was amazing! Robin and Junior were the most loving and caring people. The best part about this trip was getting to meet them! Sobotta Manor provided the perfect weekend getaway for our group of friends. Everything was perfect -- the rooms and the FOOD were outstanding, and Robin and Junior were the most gracious hosts!!

This B and B will meet all of your expectations and more and beyond. We went with ten girls for a Wine Weekend and spent both nights at the BandB. Robin and Junior were quite possibly the most wonderful hosts ever and made our trip more like a vacation. The breakfast they served was first class! Robin helped me plan our wine tours (which she helped include in our cost). After the first vineyard she met us there with a picnic lunch which was incredible. Each morning we woke up to the smell of coffee and home cooked meals :) If I could tell everyone person in the world about my experience at the Sabotta BandB I would. It truly was an experience of a life time. If you want a place where you are in a total state of relaxation, want to enjoy time with friends and family, and eat drink and laugh all day then this place is the place for you. I can assure that I will be going back at Christmas time and every year for a Wine Weekend!

Immaculately clean rooms, manicured grounds, gorgeous home, elegantly-relaxed common rooms. From the time you enter the door to the time you close it on your way out, your are attended with warmth, care and attention. Staff is there when you need them and seeimingly away when you don't. We had a wonderful time at the Sobotta Manor! The home is fabulous with all of the original woodwork and the nooks and crannies that depict a prosperous home. Our room was meticoulsy clean with many additional ammenities and the bed was dreamy! Breakfast was delicious, bountiful, and so tastefully presented. We even had live classical music to enjoy while we ate. Our hosts were delightful, took us on a tour of the home and readily shared stories about the house and the community. The grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. There were many opportunites to sit and relax amongst them. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to return.

This was mine and my husbands first time staying at a B&B and Sobatto Manor went above and beyond our expectations. The host and hostess provided us with a relaxed atmosphere that was lovely. I was curious with staying at a house vs. a hotel how loud it would be if you could hear the other guests but the house was built so structurally sound you can't hear a thing. Not only was the facility extremely clean, but the architecture of the home is a site to see. Junior and Robin were down to earth and welcomed us in their home like we were family and provided us with as much and as little interaction that you wanted. My husband is not much for traveling and he already wants us to book a room again soon. All in all a great place to stay to get away from it all.

Sobotta Manor B&B was above our expecations. We are in the lodging industry (deluxe log cabins) and it is often difficult to find a place that is as nice as what we rent to our guests at Hidden Mountain Resorts. We found it here and it was ABOVE our expectations. Robin and Junior Hester are the perfect innkeepers - warm and gracious, wonderful story tellers about the history of Sobotta Manor and the history of Mt Airy - terrific gourmet chefs as the meals were a delight to the tastebuds as well as to the eye. We will be telling people about them from now on and have already reserved a 2-night stay for our daughter & her husband so that they too may enjoy a wonderful stay at Sobotta Manor. Robin and JR were so kind to us during our very brief stay. We were in town to enjoy a graduation of 2 nieces. It was a quick but, wonderful experience to have their very good care. The food was fabulous and the room was perfect! Most of all, our hosts were the best. We wish all of our travel experiences were this great. Cheers to Sobotta Manor B & B ! Our stay at Sobotta Manor was one of the most wonderful experiences we have had at the many B & B we have stayed at. The home is absolutely beautiful and homey and the formal gardens make you feel as if you are in another time. The hosts were very gracious & willing to do whatever to make our stay enjoyable. As my wife said Robin & Junior made us feel as if we had known them forever as soon as we walked through the door. The breakfast was very wonderful & Robin was so willing to work around my special diet.

We stayed at the Sobotta Manor during our wine tasting trip to North Carolina and had a wonderful time. Robin is a great host and the breakfasts were delicious. We stayed in room #3 which is beautifully appointed and the bed was very comfortable...and smelled fabulous! We will definitely return.

We couldn't think of a more enjoyable stay we've ever had. The home is luxuriously furnished and set in the most beautiful gardens. Robin & Junior are so very personable and friendly, enrapturing us with such great stories of Mt. Airy and serving the most delicious breakfasts, the kind one would expect in a 5 star hotel. Although we met for the first time when we checked in, our 4-day stay was like being in the home of a life-long friend. Coffee & soft drinks available throughout the day -- friendly conversations with other guests in the parlor before breakfast, and in the evenings Robin usually joined in. (Junior was out of town most of the time we were there -- but he is truly a super great guy!) Add to that great advice on things to do and places to see. It was a wonderful get-away for us and we made some precious new friends!

We only live an hour and a half away, but it had been a long time since we'd had time away from home. We needed a place relatively closeby to have a change of scenery and forget our normal routines. We were privileged to find Sobotta Manor. The inn was grand and took us back in time to a nostalgic and relaxed era. Our stay and the hospitality of the innkeepers made us feel as if we were the residents of this beautiful home. We enjoyed the tastefully appointed bedroom and adjoining bath and especially enjoyed the view from our room of the English garden. Our days took us to the nostalgic places to visit in Mt. Airy - the majority in walking distance of the inn. However, the greatest entertainment of the stay was Robin's very interesting stories of the history of Sobotta Manor. The stay was great in every way!

We recently stayed at the Sobotta Manor during a visit to the Mt. Airy region. The grand old home makes a wonderful bed and breakfast and Robin is the perfect hostess. Our room (#3) was peaceful and sophisticated and breakfast was amazing. From stuffed french toast with homemade bread to a wonderful quiche served with fresh fruit, we did not need anything until dinner! Robin's three dogs are angels as well. We plan to return to the Sobotta Manor on our next getaway.

We were welcome so warmly and made to feel right at home. Robin was a gracious host and an excellant chef! Her breakfasts are to die for. We loved our room and can not wait to return again for a 3 day weekend.

When we arrived, we were greeted by Robin and the pups and given a tour of the Inn. Once we got up to our room, with a beautiful view of the garden we were very delighted by the room's decor and warmth that it offered. The bed was so very comfortable that we fell fast asleep within minutes of lying down and slept right through our dinner reservation at a nearby vineyard. In the morning the breakfast was served in the dining room and how wonderful it was and what a presentation. The atmosphere at the table, which was delightful thanks to Robin and her great since of humor, truly wonderful like a bunch of friends who had gathered for a meal. This was my first B&B and I truly enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for giving us a peaceful, relaxing memory.

The B & B of my choice. I always stay at B & Bs. This was my first at Sobotta Manor B&B. The accomaditions were wonderful and the food great. Most of all was the kindness and friendlyness of Robin & Junior. I have met two wonderful friends. This will always be my stop when I drive from Medina, Ohio back to Greenville, NC.

Our stay at Sobotta Manor was exactly you want in a B & B experience. Lovely house, easy walk to restaurants and shops, great breakfast. But most of all, nice, friendly, knowledgeable inn keepers. Oh, and great dogs, also. It was a warm and enjoyable experience.

As we walked thru the Inn, I quite simply was blown away with the initial feeling of quality and warmth. We stayed in Room #3 which was beautiful and the quality followed us from the front door and continued in every aspect of our room, it is quite difficult to express in words the attention to detail and quaity we experienced. Everything about our stay at the Sobotta Manor was great! The house reminds me of some of the great B&Bs I stayed in while visiting England. I highly reccomend the Inn for anyone visiting the Mount Airy area!

My husband and I enjoyed our weekend trip to Mt. Airy and our stay at the Sobatta Manor Bed and Breakfast. We really enjoyed the coziness of the home. We visited in February, but I'm sure the gardens are beautiful in the spring and summer.

We rely heavily on reviews when booking trips -so it's our pleasure to review the Sobotta Manor with 5 stars. My husband and I decided to book a weekend getaway for my 30th birthday at the last minute. Not only did Robin accommodate us - she made it wonderful! Breakfast was truly gourmet and fabulously delicious. Sometimes places can make it a stuffy affair - not here though...you're treated well, but with a very homey touch. We even chatted it up with Robin for a while. She's a great host! Everything in the house is done right - the decor, the level of comfort with the guest in mind. We enjoyed cheese&crackers fireside in the evening, and watched a dvd that night in our room from their nice dvd library on our in-room flatscreen. A very nice place with a nice pricetag- we will stay here again - looking forward to either seeing the garden in the summer or catching the fall colors!

My wife and I spent our wedding night at the Sobotta Manor after a surprise snowstorm made driving out of town impossible. When we arrived Robin helped us with our luggage then gave us a tour of the house. The house is relatively old and Robin said that she and her husband had made an effort to keep everything in the house original; the house is lovely! Downstairs is a parlor with a fireplace, two large couches, and a gorgeous chess set. As this was only a week before Christmas there were Christmas decorations everywhere and Christmas music was playing in the parlor. Next to the parlor is the dining room where breakfast was served at 9am the next day. The breakfast alone is almost worth the trip to the Sobotta Manor! Robin cooked us an incredible three-course breakfast with chocolate pound-cake, a blackberry & raspberry parfait, and homemade apple fritters battered in eggnog. In addition she had a very nice selection of loose teas and teabags, and of course offered us juice and coffee to go with our breakfast. Though we could only stay for one night before heading to Charleston, my wife and I both loved the Sobotta Manor and are hoping we can find an excuse to go back!

We lucked into a one-night stay at Sobotta as part of a last-minute Yadkin Valley wine weekend - usually there is a 2-night minimum and I am so grateful that this worked out! Everything made for incredibly memorable weekend, especially the innkeepers' hospitality, delicious, leisurely Sunday breakfast and beautiful historic home. We will definitely be back!

What a wonderful Bed and Breakfast experiance. The place is beautiful, romantic and very clean. It is very tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The proprietors are very friendly and treat you like family. This is an excellent place to visit.

It was our 10th wedding anniversary and staying here made it as romantic as our honeymoon! Wonderful ambience and incredible gourmet breakfasts! Truly a great experience, we recommend it highly.

My wife and I spent our anniversary weekend in "Andy Griffith Town," Mt. Airy, NC at the Sobotta Manor B & B. The most pleasant part of it was that main street in "Mayberry" was just a two block stroll. We parked our car on Friday afternoon after arriving and didn't have to move it again until we left on Sunday. After being met at the door by the "host" and the "mascots," we were introduced to the "Manor" of the Sobotta. Beautifully decorated Room #3 with a beautiful view of the gardens. The host "pulled back the covers" for us as we prepared to introduce ourselves for a relaxing weekend. We walked up the street and ate at Barney's Cafe and returned for a nice cup of coffee before sleeping on the most comfortable bed you could imagine. We wanted to be able to stay at a place that we didn't have to take the car anywhere....and we didn't until we left on Sunday. The breakfast on Saturday and Sunday were each freshly prepared by J.R. Waffles on Saturday and a Breakfast Casserole type dish on Sunday. Freshly brewed coffee complimented the food nicely along with the juice. The location made our "Mayberry" weekend so enjoyable but the comfort and ambience of the Sobotta Manor made it all worthwhile. You couldn't ask for better!!! Thanks J.R. and Clayton and Cher. P.S. Stayed here for my 40th High School reunion and was not disappointed. The room was comfortable and home was beautiful. Just what we wanted instead of another motel. The owner hosts made us feel welcome and provided some great advice on how to spend our weekend time. Would go back for another stay without question.

October 25, 2009 We have just returned from a wonderful two night stay at the Sobotta Manor B&B, a beautiful, warm, comfortable step back in time. Our hosts, Thurman and Robin Hester were gracious and knowledgeable of the surrounding area. The breakfasts were out- standing and were prepared and presented with excellent taste. Mount Airy in addition to being the home of Andy Griffith is located in the Yadkin Valley wine region and just a short distance from the Skyline Drive. This was by far our best B&B stay.
