A couple of the rooms have the very quaint, old fashion beds with steps needed to get into. For the challenged people this may be a problem, so make sure you discuss this at the time you book. The inn is certainly a jewel in the NC mountains, don't miss it!

We cannot wait to return to 4 1/2 Street Inn. The inn keepers weren't just warm and inviting (as one would expect from an inn keeper), they were also really cool. We truly enjoyed visiting with them They make their home at the Inn, which I think also speaks highly of the quality of service one can expect and receive. Included in the room rate are evening hors d'oeuvres and wine, cookies, beverages, complimentary bicycle use, and full gourmet breakfast. The Inn has beautiful gardens, full of blooms and lush plants. My husband is a plein air painter, so he had plenty of inspiration. It was a very relaxing setting. Plan to do nothing and relax at the Inn, or make a full day of exploring the area - hiking, waterfalls, shopping, great food, etc.

This was one of our most enjoyable B&B vacation! The location is ideal, within easy walking distance of downtown Highlands, in a quiet charming neighborhood. With a beautiful wrap-around porch and lovely gardens (my husband's favorite spot was the huge hammock), the late afternoon complimentary wine, crackers and yummy pimento cheese were perfect to enjoy with conversation, reading a book or bird-watching. Rooms are charming, very clean, thoughtfully furnished. Comfy bathrobes are provided for visits to the hot tub. Scrumptious breakfasts and great conversations with hosts Helene and Rick made this one of our best trips ever. They had great hiking and restaurant recommendations - we wished we could have stayed longer!

My sisters and I have stayed with Rick & Helene several times, and every time has been just flawless! Superb service, exquisite food, and wonderful accommodations! If I had it my way, we would go there EVERY time we traveled!
