Lamplight Inn

We spent an evening at the Lamplight Inn for our anniversary this year. As history and cinema buffs, we chose the Gone With the Wind room for our stay. Our room was beautiful, our hostess delightful, and breakfast superb.

Stayed in the Regal Room. Being located right at the dining room was great for helping ourselves to a snack and beverage. Our hostess met our food preferences and standards with Ridgeway honey dew melon with blueberries, soy milk, decaf., and Splenda with Fiber. Not to mention the baked mushroom egg dish, homemade biscuits, link sausage, orange juice and the to-die-for homemade coffee cake. We were the only guests during this one-night stay. We got to choose when we would have breakfast. We had breakfast after an early self-tour of the farm. My favorite was the fitness center, a converted tobacco pack-house. Our complimentary personal chocolate cake was also scrumptious. The bed was as comfortable as the one we slept on at the Grove Park Inn in Ashville during our honeymoon. We followed the innkeeper's suggestion and ate at the Middleburg Steak House, which is open only Wednesday-Sunday. Awesome! Didn't want to leave!

Relaxing on the porch, looking over the tobacco farm I could imagine days of yesteryear. Shirley has created and unique retreat. I would recommend to all to come.

I've had the experience at both the main house and the cabins, and each is an exceptional treat. I'm very thankful for Shirley Payne.

I didn't actually use the B&B. We were in the adjacent RV Camp. Absolutely perfect for us. Shirley and Gary were very accommodating. The grounds were well kept. Reminding me of Bodie CA, this old tobacco farm RV park is in arrested decay. The outbuildings serve as rustic (but safe) porches and lounges. And they are fantastic artistic photographic opportunities. Being a retired photographer/graphic designer I took over 400 images. Some will definitely become part of my fine art portfolio. So, especially to your artists out there, if you want a quiet absolutely beautiful place to stay in your RV, or at the adjacent B&B, I HIGHLY recommend The Tobacco Farm Camp and Lamplight Inn. My wife and I spent Sept. 3-5, 2010 at Lamplight Inn and had a wonderful time. The inn keeper was charming and quite plesant to talk with. The food provided was delicious (esp. the complimentary cake she baked for our anniversary!). The house was beautiful and well-maintained, as were the expansive grounds. She made sure to always have snacks, etc. on hand. Very glad to have found this spot in NC! We will definitely be back!

we stayed in a farmhouse with history and charm, along with an innkeeper who wants to share her knowledge of the property with everyone. the original out buildings of the tobacco plantation are there for you to explore, and the grounds around the family cemetery and curing barns are well kept. a wonderful change of pace and great getaway.

We loved the charm and character of this quaint farmhouse. We appreciated being able to bring our dog with us and having a hearty home-cooked meal. Lots of TLC and a great price, too!

It was wonderful to retreat to old-fashioned decor and peace and quiet after and busy day with 68 family members over a reunion weekend. Our hostess was most accommodating and gracious.

We were very lucky to find this place. Peaceful surroundings, excellent accommodations. Shirley is an excellent host and makes you feel right at home. Bring your appetite for an excellent breakfast. Our teenagers love the stay too!

I've made a wonderful memory at the Lamplight Inn. I have found the stillness and quiet, the beauty and charm to be very healing.

Everything was wonderful. The service could not have been better. Breakfast was exceptional and we had a whirlpool tub in the Regal Suite. The Lamplight Inn is also closed in January but opened for us anyway because it was our honeymoon. We had a great time. ;)

There is a machine with a high pitched whine that I could hear in my room, but my earplugs blocked it.

I like supporting local businesses while on business travel. I usually have reading to do, and lighting was good. Didn't try to use internet.

Enjoyed staying at the Lamplight Inn. Was a good place to get away from everything for a few days. The innkeeper was extremely nice the breakfasts were delicious. Property has a great history. Would do it again.

At the close of a busy summer we decided that we wanted to take a relaxing vacation that would allow us to take a step back from our fast-paced lives. The Lamplight Inn was just the place because it was just a few minutes drive to lovely Kerr Lake where we were able to enjoy the scenic views as well as rent a canoe and spend the day on the lake. Shirley is a very nice and hospitable lady and we could tell that she had really paid close attention to the details around the inn; whether it be the homemade fudge, the unique lamps found in the parlor, or the converted tobacco sheds we certainly found it perfect for our first getaway as a couple. Historic districts in Henderson and Oxford afforded us the opportunity to wander antique stores and sample the local offerings as well. All in all we couldn't have asked for more from the Lamplight Inn - it was truly a pleasent and perfect vacation for us.

We came back to my husband's roots and had a very pleasant and restful stay, with a tour by the innkeeper and a good breakfast and coffee in the morning. The jacuzzi gave me a great relaxing soak!

We were not planning on staying in Henderson, but when we hit a deep hole in the road and damaged the front tire, we had to spend the night. We chose Lamplight Inn, and what a lovely restored place it is! Great hostess, Shirley! Many historical buildings.

We needed a romantic getaway and Lamplight Inn was the perfect place. The room, Heavenly Haren, was beautiful and spacious, clean, and charming. It's in a beautiful part of Henderson, very close to Kerr Lake. Loved the innkeeper!

This is the first B&B visit and it was quite enjoyable. We also used the facilities for a birthday party and got rave reviews from attendees on the facility. We had a great time - the innkeeper was great also!

My husband surprised me with one night here on our anniversary. What a wonderful surprise! The inn is located in beautiful, peaceful countryside, and the room was spectacular. And Shirley served us a great breakfast!

Shirley really makes this B&B. She is so helpful, friendly, and willing to do what she can to make your stay a great one. She cooks a wonderful gourmet breakfast every morning. We really missed those breakfasts when we got home. A close second to Shirley is the location. The Inn is surrounded by fields. It was a pleasure to sit on the porch and listen to the sound of... nothing. The rooms are a nice size and well-appointed. If I could do one thing to improve this great place, it would be to just sweep the cobwebs out of the corners. They were in every room. I guess that's the price you pay for living in some place so rural: lots of spiders. Other than this, the place is spotless. If you go, don't forget to pet the cat on the porch.

In all aspects, the visit was delightful.

We had a very nice stay. The inn is situated in strikingly beautiful farm country. It was nice to unwind on the porch after our long drive. The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot and the breakfast was delicious We would definitely stay again.
