My husband and I had a weekend together for his 40th birthday and this was the perfect place. It rained and they had crazy wind storms while there, but we had a room with a beautiful view of their own personal sound and it was a relaxing wonderful trip. The food was outstanding, service wonderful. Very well stocked common area, great views. We ordered the simple picnic which came with a fabulous chibatta sandwich, a noodle salad, some apples, water and hand dipped truffles. With the rain and wind, we took the fairy and ate them in the car, but it was romantic and perfect. Dinner was wonderful, it was quiet and romantic and despite the weather a perfect get away. Steve was friendly and helpful with ideas of places to go and see. Another great thing to do while in the area is visit Orange Blossom Bakery for their apple uglies. Bring cash and be there early....they're pretty popular.

We came here shortly after the hurricane had washed out the only road into town, forcing us to come in by ferry. It changed our trip from 6 hours to 12 in travel time and by early morning on our first day there we were positive that we had made the right decision to still come. We realized too late that we'd be arriving in after all the restaurants were closed, no problem, the staff at the inn helped us to arrange a midnight meal delivered from Rusty's (fantastic food here btw). With only twelve rooms, your stay here is always going to be cozy and peaceful, the height of relaxation between hectic wedding activities. Steve was incredibly helpful and attentive to our needs and inquiries throughout our 5 night stay. We had a family only wedding party of 8 but Steve opened up his restaurant for us two nights running to some amazing food. My new wife is a shutterbug and came away extremely satisfied from all the photo opportunities that we took advantage of in the area. Can't wait to return one day for an anniversary vacation!

My boyfriend and I could only stay for one night at the Inn on our recent vacation due to the impending arrival of hurricane Irene. The short time we could stay very much exceeded our expectations. Beautiful views, great food, friendly staff, and a great room. They made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We highly recommend the Inn for anyone looking for a beautiful, calm, and relaxing get away.

My wife and I booked two nights in the Hyacinth room for Saturday and Sunday in between a weeks family vacation in Corolla and the Blue/Grey Civil War Reunion in Hatteras on Monday. The best part was the staff. Jen was our waitress for dinner all three nights. She is a terrific waitress - friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. After the first day, I knew the Inn was as nice as other reviewers had said. Because we really liked it there and it would work out well for the reunion we decided that we wanted to stay another night. We really liked the Hyacinth room. Steve said it was booked for the third night but that the Jasmine room was available. It was a more expensive room, but he gave it to us for the same price, because of the whirlpool tub problems in the Hyacinth room. Jasmine is a larger room with a bigger whirlpool tub and a larger desk with an even more open view of the sound than Hyacinth. However it had a rug instead of the hardwood floors that Hyacinth had. Also the color scheme was darker. We would probably ask for Hyacinth if we stay there again. Both the free breakfasts and the dinners were just about perfect. The dinner prices ranged from about $25 to $30. There were around 8 entries on the menu. It cost us about $100 plus tax each night that we paid. That included an appetizer 2 or 3 glasses of wine each and coffee and dessert. I had two fish dinners and a steak filet, my wife had crabcakes and a screwer of shrimp and scallops. All of it was delicious. The free breakfast changed each day. There was one main entrie plus a fresh tasting fruit cup and a muffin. They served omelets one day, eggs benedict the next and quiche the third day. They served a 4 bean blend and a coffee called Java that is stronger. We had a wonderful time and would like to go back there again.

This was one of my family's favorite vacations! The Inn's attention to detail and laid back atmosphere allowed for total relaxation and rejuvenation. We will with out a doubt be adding this gem to our regular vacation rotation! The view, the room, the food, the coffee, the staff, the amenities- ALL PERFECTION!

We celebrated our 15th anniversary at the Inn on Pamlico Sound and had a great stay. The property is beautiful and exceptionally maintained. Our room was well-appointed and had a great view of the sound, which allowed for nice sunset views from the balcony of the room. We chose to have dinner at the inn twice during our three night stay and it was excellent both times. The staff will go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable and the innkeepers were extremely hospitable. I highly recommend staying here.

We spent a weekend in The Inn on Pamlico Sound in July and were astonished - a beautiful, quiet spot. Everything was well arranged, the dinner as well as the breakfast excellent. The staff was friendly and tried to fulfill all our wishes. We will come back and enjoy the wonderful sunset while having perfect dinner in the restaurant.

My wife and I stayed for three days at the Inn. A very relaxed atmosphere, as if you were at your own home and just happened to have some friends over. The meals were excellent - steak & eggs for breakfast as well as different coffees every day. The pan-seared scallops are incredible as was the duck! A very friendly staff and guests, too. We'll be back!

3rd stay at the Inn, enjoyed it just as much as the 1st. We always look forward to a weekend away at the Inn, and make it a point to visit at least once a year. Dinner was superb both nights (per usual), and we left on Sunday feeling full, relaxed and eager to return.

This is a nice place, I am sure nothing short of a private house is nicer. Food in the restaurant is amazing. Steve is great, rest of the staff is very friendly. View of Sound is nice from rooms. Recommended.

Our stay at the Inn was truly wonderful! The room, service, food, and amenities were better than we could have imagined. It was beautiful, quiet, and relaxing! We can't wait to visit again next year!!

Exquisite views of the sound from every location. The gourmet dinner didn't disappoint.

We picked the Inn on the Pamilco Sound for our honeymoon because of its good reviews and its convenient location. That decision was one of the best during our whole wedding process. We had none of the hassle I've heard people talk about with honeymoons. Everything about the Inn was beautiful, relaxing, and fun. I would rank the food as the best I've ever had and we thoroughly enjoyed every meal. The staff was friendly and helpful and our massages were heavenly. The stay was a bit of a splurge for our budget, but it was well worth every penny and we cannot wait to return!!

This Inn exceeded my expectations and we will be going back to the Outer Banks just to stay here. Beautiful rooms, beautiful view, great food, great service!

great room for view of sound, nice large deck. carpet in room looked quite old, had many spots, definitely needs replacing as it is first thing you see going in. as room was right over kitchen, noise from closing kitchen down could be heard for some time after 10 at night.

we stayed 3 nights at the the Inn on Pamlico Sound and could not have been more satisfied. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were large and extremely clean, the food was wonderful and the view was fantastic. we plan on visiting again and will bring friends from Texas. Norma & Rod

This place was great. Everyone was so nice, courteous and helpful. The room was very clean and what a view of the sound. The inn has its own restaurant and it was excellent also. I am very picky about where I stay but this place exceeded my expectations. Would not change anything. THANKS

Loved the attention and friendliness of the staff. Loved the views from our private balconey. The food was excellent! Surprised my wife with the romance pkge w/ in room dining and she loved it. Recommend this to any husband for any special occasion, or just a romantic getaway. Loved the history of the island and enjoyed the local attractions, we will be coming back in the fall again! My husband and I stayed at The Inn on Pamlico Sound for one night celebrating our one year wedding anniversary...wish we would've booked MORE nights!!! The Inn FAR exceeded our expectations and we are confident to say that this will be the BEST bed & breakfast that we will EVER stay at!! I'm 6 months pregnant and was looking for pure relaxation and comfort...and this was the place!! Thank you to all the staff that made our special day so wonderful! We will definitely be back again!

The food, scenery, accommodations, and service at the Inn on the Pamlico Sound are beyond compare. It’s difficult say enough about our fondness for Steve and his fabulous home, but we’ll try. The food is world class. We’ve enjoyed a magnificent Thanksgiving dinner as well as several exquisite summer evening meals in the restaurant (goat cheese encrusted filet with demi-glaze, shrimp & andouille sausage with grits, & mahi with asabi mayo). The crab bisque was over the top!! The breakfast is different each morning with selections ranging from scrambled eggs & bacon to frittatas with hollandaise, always included with fruit and a delectable baked item (chocolate chip scones, raspberry muffins). While we normally skip dessert, we never do at the Inn. Our favorite was the Hazelnut Grenache but everything has been simply delicious. Last but certainly not least, we’re sure to find our favorites and then some in the wine selection. Now, imagine enjoying all that delicious food while overlooking the sunset on the Pamlico Sound. We’ve taken many gorgeous sunset pictures from our spacious, private balcony and even watched a couple of sunsets from the pier after kayaking on the sound. Between the Sound and the lovely gardens and flowers, the Inn is surrounded by beauty and a sense of calmness. Hospitality at the Inn cannot be beat. Steve and staff are relaxed and everyone has a great sense of humor. Over Thanksgiving, we enjoyed watching a football game on the big screen in the theater room and even managed to find time to pick out a couple of movies from their great selection. Other amenities we enjoyed: pool, hot tub in room, and the rocking chairs on our deck. All the rooms are elegant and comfortable at the same time. Each is personally decorated and truly a home away from home. We can’t tell you our favorite room because we don’t want it booked up all the time but trust us when we say we could stay there for months on end.

Nioff-season so the inn wasn't full and we were upgraded to a bigger room. Nice enough room, but seemed like high ceilings were the only real differentiator from the others. Pluses: Whirlpool tub was great. porch. Tastefully decorated, not too kitschy. Minuses: Carpet was stained, but not dirty. Waterside view of Sound, not ocean.

The staff- friendly, courteous, always that extra effort to make our stay the very best. The service - professional, courteous but not intrusive. The facility - our room (Sea Oats) was large well aapointed and we loved the private deck. The dining - what can I say, if you don't like fine food, wine and great service then this isn't the place for you. However if you DO like fine food, wine, and great service you will love The Inn on Pamlico Sound. We will definitely return. Thanks Steve and the staff for a fabulous week.

I took my husband to the Inn for his birthday. We have visited Hatteras hundreds of times over the years but wanted a new and unique experience. We were overjoyed to find that at the Inn. We were there March 4-6 and had a fabulous time. We arrived later than aniticipated but called ahead to let the Inn know we were on our way. Steve was very accommodating. We had not stopped for dinner so Steve notified the chef that we were on our way. We kept it light and just had soup and salad. The seafood chowder was divine. The Inn was halfway booked so Steve very generously upgraded us to a premium room. It was very nicely decorated with a large private deck and beautiful view of the Pamlico Sound. Our breakfast was wonderful. We enjoyed a 5 star breakfast with a stunning view.The afternoon fresh cookies were a delicious treat. We will and have already recommended the Inn to our friends and family and can't wait to return in the fall for our anniversary.

ok so we went in the "off Season", but the room was still a little above average in price. The room was nice but we could hear everything and I do mean everything in the other rooms. We also heard the staff coming and going into the late hours of the night because of the catering business ran from the inn. The bath towels had a smell like meldew and the spa bath had a coating of something all inside of it. All in all we would not go back. Did not get a good nights sleep for 3 nights.

Were visiting to plan a wedding, and we were welcomed warmly. Lots of good ideas about how to handle details of wedding. Very pleasant and relaxing and fun place to stay. The rooms were lovely and comfortable, although we were aware we could hear sounds from the neighboring room.

There isn't one thing that I can say disappointed me about The Inn on Pamlico Sound. From the moment we arrived the staff was amazing. Our room was spotless and inviting. The food was world class and the complementary breakfast better than any i've ever had. I'd recommend anyone going to the Outer Banks consider staying there.

Our stay at the Inn was one of the best vacation I have ever had on the Outerbanks. Usually we rent a house and with that you have to bring and pack everything towels linens beach stuff snacks. Doing all that a week before you even arrive really began to take a toll on me. I was stressed before I left for vacation. And then all the unpacking, and then packing it all up to leave the house, plus the cleaning, droping off the keys. More things to deal with and mroe stress. . Not so with staying at the Inn. I did not have to pack anything except clothes! Everything else I needed was provided at the Inn kayacks, beach chairs, & umbrellas, boggie boards, and towels. I was so relaxed, pampered, I did not want for this vacation time to end. Packing to leave was so easy thanks to all the above amenities The room, service, dinning, at the Inn were outstanding, and such a great value for your money. I can't wait to return this fall. Steve the Innkeeper is a great guy down to earth and makes you feel like a VIP guest in his home. Jus keep doing what you are doing Steve, don't change a thing. It all works.

Our long weekend at the Inn on Pamlico Sound far exceeded our expectations - and based on other's recommendations, we had fairly high expectations. Steve and the entire staff work very hard to service their guests as well as the facility. Details both large and small were tended to. The entire staff was most friendly but certainly not intrusive, and ready to help with tips about the surrounding area. The location is gorgeous, the rooms are lovely, and the food - wow! We look forward to a return stay in the not too distant future.

This was only the second B&B my husband and I stayed in. I read an article about it, describing it as "not your Grandma's B&B." That basically sums it up! The rooms are not ornately decorated like other B&Bs we've seen, and there is no turn-down service. However, a 3-course breakfast is served either outside or in the restaurant downstairs. We found the breakfast to be VERY filling, and the chef often delivered the entrees to the tables himself. Our only complaints are that the construction wasn't tip-top. We had a lot of trouble with the deadbolts on the main door and the door to the balcony because the hardware did not line up correctly. We also wondered if the doors and windows were not correctly sealed because there were bugs in our room every day. Our second complaint was that the restaurant downstairs was a little noisy. We stayed in the Jasmine room so all the noise from downstairs kept us up at night if we tried to turn in early and woke us up about 7am each day. Other than those minor complaints, the B&B was great! The staff went out of their way to make us happy. We even went on an "elegant picnic" for sunset, and the chef really set us up with a nice feast!

The inn is as much a treasure as the National Seashore. For us they are one in the same. We couldn't imagine coming to the Outer Banks without it. Steve and the staff truly make you feel as though you are the only guests there. A "10" from rooms to food to atmosphere to setting.

We are not seasoned B&B guests, but we believe this place would be hard to beat. The setting is lovely; beautiful romantic rooms, fine dining, and breakfast on the deck made the visit exceptional. The innkeepers and staff were dedicated to making the stay as perfect as possible. Many delightful amenities and activities are available for guests. Our only complaint would be in the food service - a bit slow and erratic at times.

Stayed for 5 nights - split between 2 rooms - fab stay - great breakfasts and dinner. Sunday brunch a feast with Lobster and grits ... the best veal cutlet I have ever eaten one night, sushui another ..Love the little touches - afternoon cookies, soft drinks, guest 'fridges, surf boards, beach umbrellas ...and the staff and the sunsets ..plan to return in the duck migration season if I can. The rooms of the inn are beautiful, each one unique. Rooms that have no guests are left open so that you can take a peek at the rooms offered. Larger rooms had spa tubs! Each room had something special and different about it, separating it from all of the others. Some had love seats, while others had table and chairs, and there was a different color scheme and decorating theme for each - no two alike! The little ammenities make for a warm atmosphere: free cold sodas and snacks for guests, beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas for use at the beach, kayaks for use any time, bikes and helmets, internet in each room. Dinner food was wonderful, and we loved the breakfast, especially the delicious sweet bread, as well as omellettes made to order right at your table. We were there for "Blues on the Sound" night, which was excellent entertainment. Nice place, I would definitely go again!

The reasons to have your wedding at this location: First, the owner and staff was very easy to work with, helpful and fun. Walking up the steps to the Inn you could see blue skies and the sound.Our dinning area once again,gave you the sound view for all to see. The service was outstanding. We had 20 people and they kept up with everyone. With the view of the sunset, and beautiful photos gave that special feeling to all on this special day. Now the food! Can you give 10 stars? Hands down you cannot get better then this. Everyone wanted to taste what the other person had because it all looked so good. There was not one unhappy person there. The menu (had the bride and grooms name on the top) and had something for everyone, pasta, seafood, meat or chicken. The chefs again kept up with 20 people by getting the food out hot, no wait and delicious. We started out with a salad; pick of two and then everyone was given a bowl of seafood chowder. We talked, laughed and had a good time. Never given the feeling to hurry up. The cake was the best wedding cake made right here in Hatteras. The wait staff cut the cake and made sure the bride and groom had a piece to take home (they had gotten very little in their mouths first time around!). They then boxed up the top of the wedding cake for them keep. Every one received a glass of champagne for the best man’s words of fun. With the dark evening sky and little white lights outside the Inn the couple had their first dance by moonlight. What night to remember for years to come. My son and I had a wonderful stay over the fourth of July weekend. The staff and service were exceptional. They anticipated our needs and made our vacation very enjoyable. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The pool and other recreational activites made it easy as we did not have to load up bikes kayaks etc from home. Breakfast was wonderful every morning and the chefs did an amazing job with dinners. We thoroughly enjoyed and I will come back again and again. Will definitely recommend to friends.

If you are looking for a caterer for a special event when down south on the Outer Banks you cannot go wrong with The Inn on Pamlico Sound. From the very beginning, Steve and his team were incredibly timely, responsive, and receptive to different ideas. The entire IOP team were friendly, professional, and a joy to work with. And the food... DELICIOUS!

A sudden change in our plans gave my wife and I a wonderful opportunity. We enjoyed a night of music, wine and fine dining al fresco at the Inn. The Inn on Pamlico Sound far exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed the view from every spot, loved the convenience of the dining hall and the ease of getting around to the different rooms. Loved the freebies such as kayaking, bicycling, the pool, the sound, and the wildlife. We ate popcorn and drank wine while we watched a movie in their theatre. Just an Exceptional B&B. Steve is "hands-on" and the Staff is delightful and efficient. The setting on the Sound is lovely, the Rooms comfortable and cozy, the Restaurant is excellent, the Sushi was outstanding. Guarantee that you will "wish you had stayed longer"!!

My husband and I stayed at the Inn on Pamlico Sound for two nights and wished we could have stayed for two months! Steve, Paul, and the entire staff made us feel like we were the only guests. They cater to your every need and the accomodations are beautiful and very clean. My wife Kris & I have been blessed to have experienced all 4 seasons at the Inn. The views of the sound & marsh are beatiful. The rooms spacious & comfortable. However the dining is a culinary delight. We thank Steve & staff for wonderful times. Allen & Kris

We have been to the Inn about 8 times now, and love it every time. The location is wonderful and offers a beautiful sunset most nights. The staff is great and eager to help however they can. The accomodations are comfortable and homey and have some great bonuses, like the big-screen theater, home-baked cookies and free snacks and sodas to go. The breakfasts are great and the Inn has a gourmet restaurant for dinner as well. We can't think of anywhere better to go on Hatteras Island and have already recommended to all our friends who will listen.

I have stayed at this Inn on four different occasions. I love this place. The location on the Sound is superb, with most rooms looking directly out on the water. Sun, light and water make Hatteras such a great destination, and the Inn provides access in abundance. Hospitality is truly gracious and the innkeepers are both knowledgeable as well as helpful with regard to any of the water-related Island activities you can think of. The restaurant, open for dinner, is excellent. We showed up at the Inn on Pamlico Sound late on a November night - our first night ever on the Outer Banks. We were looking for a house to rent but weren't impressed by what was available. On a whim we stopped by at the Inn and were wonderfully surprised by what it had to offer. Ultimately we were very happy NOT to have found a house to rent! Steve's local knowledge which he generously shared with us made for an exceptional Outer Banks experience. The rooms and service were great and food exceptional. The extra touches - warm cookies, snacks and bottled water were especially nice. Free access to bicycles, movies, internet and many other play-things complimented the unforgetable view from our room. Thank you Steve and staff for sharing your wonderful Inn and hospitality.

We only stayed one night but had a very nice time. The area was very peaceful and the amentities were surprising. The food at the restaurant and breakfast were exceptional.
