Taylor House Inn

The Inn was a little "long in the tooth" but the service, cleanliness and friendliness were superb. Tessa is a chef not a cook.

We had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate our thirty ninth wedding anniversary at THE TAYLOR HOUSE INN. We had a GREAT time staying in Aunt Nancy's room. The breakfast is fantastic. It is a beautiful house and Bernard and Tessa went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. We hope to return some day and we highly recommend this B & B to anyone visiting the area. Thanks again Bernard and Tessa for the warm hospitality. God bless you both.

Our hosts were fabulous. Tessa is a fantastic cook. All-day coffee, comfy beds, warm fires on wet days. Bernard is a joy and gave us a lovely history lesson about the historic site. Nestled in the smokey mountains of NC, we enjoyed hiking, shopping, wine tasting and so much more. Thanks for making this the best stay I've every experienced at a BYB.

This lovely bed and breakfast is located in a beautiful area just outside of Boone, North Carolina! The decor and artwork was not my style however the home is decorated by the owners and likely appeals to them. The room was very clean and fresh feeling. The bedroom was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was large and comfortable with great lighting. The big windows and evening breeze was delightful! Waking to singing birds topped the stay!

My husband and I reserved the Flower Cottage for an overnight stay on our anniversary. When we arrived, we were offered a free upgrade to Aunt Nancy's Room. It was wonderful! The room was more spacious than the cottage and everything was so clean and well taken care of. We were very pleased with our stay! Would definitely like to go back and spend more time there.

We stayed Friday and Saturday nights as we were in area for a wedding nearby. We were very pleased with our stay. Hot tea, coffee and hot chocolate available at all times as well as fresh baked goodies. Inn Keepers very helpful and friendly.

We spent an amazing weekend at the Taylor House Inn thanks to Tessa and Bernard. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. When Tessa learnt that we were traveling with our 3 year old daughter, she rented us the entire floor for the price of one room just so the little one could get all the space she needed. The breakfast was an out of the world experience - sumptous pancakes, fresh fruit, gourmet coffee. The sunlight in the dining room, the cozy living room, the lovely art pieces throughout the house - we will cherish all the memories.

We spent the weekend of March 1st to celebrate our marriage anniversary and we couldn't choose better. The place is beautiful, full of personality. Tessa and Bernard are perfect hosts, providing all we need to feel at home. The breakfast is delicious and sophisticated. In the living room, there's a sign saying: "enter as strangers, leave as friends" and I wouldn't describe better.

My husband and I just returned from a lovely three night stay at the Taylor House Inn. We chose the Inn based on reviews we read online, and we were not disappointed. The house itself was beautiful, and the hospitality offered by Tessa and Bernard was second to none. We arrived in a cold sleet and snow mix to find that we had been upgraded to a larger room in the main house (we had booked a smaller room in a cabin). The heat had even been turned up in our room in anticipation of our arrival. The room was spacious, the bed was comfy, and we had everything we needed. A small refrigerator stocked with water and soda was a welcome surprise. Downstairs, we had 24 hour access to an assortment of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. We thoroughly enjoyed each of the three breakfasts that were served during our stay. Everything was delicious, and Tessa enthusiastically embraced the challenge of my husband's dietary restrictions! Restaurant recommendations were excellent, as well, and Tessa even heated up our Italian food leftovers so that we could eat a quick lunch before taking off for an afternoon of skiing at nearby Sugar Mountain. We couldn't have asked for a more pleasant and relaxing stay, and we will surely find our way to the Taylor House Inn again soon!

Easily the best bed and breakfast I've ever stayed in! My wife and I checked in late and the owners were very accomodating. They also upgraded our room which we really appreciated! The breakfast was great. The owners were very happy and always had a smile on their face. They were very knowledgeable and had great recommendations for activities and resturants in the area. We will definately stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

The host were most gracious and upgraded our room as they were not so busy during our visit.

Perfect overnight stay! The breakfast was unbelievable..

We arrived to the Taylor House Inn after a long day of skiing. The hostess and host were amazing. We brought with us a cold container of homemade soup and they heated the meal up for us and had it waiting at the dinning room table in beautiful servings bowls. The snack they provided when we first arrived was delicious, a variety of cheeses and crackers, olives, homemade apple pie (DELIOCIOUS!) A wide variety of hot teas, coffee, wine to drink. The home was beautiful. We stayed in a little cottage outback that was warm and cozy and very intimate. The host was able to provide us with a map of the area and recommendations on restaurants and attractions we maybe interested in seeing. The next morning they served a delicious homemade meal and we had the opportunity to sit at the dinning room table and mingle with the other house guests. I totally feel if the hostesses was to serve a formal evening meal we would have paid anything she wanted to charge, her cooking was phenominal! I would definitaly recommend this B&B and hope we have the opportunity to stay there in the near future!

We arrived in a blizzard directed by Bernard on the phone. They upgraded our room to one upstairs since we had reserved the "Flower Cottage" which would have meant walking thru the mud and snow to get to our room. Every breakfast was beautifully served and delicious. When we decided to leave before breakfast on our last day Tessa even put the coffee out early to send us on our way warm and awake! They made our stay so pleasant. I'm happy we chose the Taylor House Inn!

This was our first time staying at the Taylor House Inn. The inn is a short drive from multiple ski resorts, state parks many great places to eat. Tessa and Bernard are fantastic hosts, providing us with directions and tips that helped us plan our daytime activities. Tessa is also a wonderful cook and prepared a delicious breakfast every morning. We highly recommend the Taylor House Inn if you’re planning a trip into the mountains of North Carolina!!

We had one of the best B&B experiences we've ever had when we stayed at Taylor House for 5 days in December. The Inn Keepers, Tessa and Bernard, are warm, friendly, and welcoming. Our room was spacious and comfortable. You are surrounded by simple but tasteful furnishings, beautifully coordinated decor (no B&B mauve anywhere), and unexpected pieces of art. Breakfast served in the dining room of this hundred year old house was artfully prepared and delicious. The house and grounds are well-maintained. Two heating systems guarantee that you will be comfortable. It was close to all the places we wanted to visit in Boone, Sugar Mtn., Linville, and Chimney Rock. We look forward to staying at Taylor House again.

We enjoyed Thanksgiving weekend at the inn. The owners are gracious and provide not just an immaculate inn and gourmet breakfasts, but respite from the hectic demands of work and family life. The inn is surrounded by mountain and vale-- lovely scenic views abound from the wide front porch. I enjoyed the comfortable bed in an elegant room. This was our second stay at the inn. I will return again.

My husband and I recently visited Taylor House Inn for a weekend away. We were celebrating our 7th anniversary. We had an amazing time! The Inn is lovely, our room was large and very comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent, as well as the wine and cheese on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The owners, Bernard and Tessa, were charming and funny. We will definitely be back as it was a wonderful experience!

A great experience. The breakfasts were outstanding. The only negative comment is they need to have a radio in the room. We will go back.

We spend this weekend here and loved it. It was our first time, but we will definetly be back. Tessa and Bernard do everything possible to make your stay a wonderful experience.

Having just been married a couple of hours earlier, we arrived for a two-night honeymoon at the Taylor House Inn. We'd made reservations for the Little Room in the Red Cottage. The innkeeper quickly and generously offered to move us to Aunt Sue's Room in the main house. Guests were greeted with wine and cheeses. Breakfast on Sunday morning was lovely with whole wheat pancakes, turkey sausage, and wonderful rice pudding with peaches and rasberry sauce. Monday morning was graced with a scrumptious Italian pastry, the innkeeper's family recipe. We also enjoyed smoked salmon, asparagus, and a poached egg on an English muffin with hollandaise sauce. The setting is quiet and rural -- exactly what we were seeking -- but close enough to wonderful dining and nearby small towns and outdoor activities if one is interested in heading out and about.

Excellent B&B in a beautiful location. Tessa and Bernard were delightful hosts who have created a really warm and personable atmosphere. Food and hospitality were fantastic and the property and setting is perfect for a calming getaway. Will definitely visit this B&B again. Highly recommend it. Kevin & Julie DeVries

We enjoyed our stay and agreable talks with our interesting hosts. The colorful paintings all over the place are very inspiring and the interior of the rooms was set with love for the detail.

Our stay during Labor Day weekend was perfect.......from the delicious gourmet breakfast, to the comfortable king size posted bed in the Taylor Squire's suite! We will definitely go back. Thanks to Tessa and Bernard for a wonderful time!

The 101 year old house is stunning, and it is beautifully decorated, including original art from artists of the inn keepers family. Tessa and Bernad Russo are wonderful hosts, and the food served for breakfast was exquisite. I was seeing my son off to college, and staying at the Taylor House for two nights turned this trip into a mini vacation for me.

Our time at the Taylor House Inn was a very relaxing and peaceful time that we will most likely do again! The food, room, location, and hosts were all a part of making our stay an enjoyable experience.

We weren't sure where we'd be staying on our way home from Knoxville, so the night before we were looking at B&B's and hotels in the Boone area. We saw only positive comments about Taylor House and that clinched it for us! Those comments were absolutely correct---Taylor House is a truly delightful place to stay. The Inn Keepers, Tessa and Bernard are wonderful hosts---very helpful about places to eat and interesting places to see, and they served us a delicious breakfast also:) The Inn is charming and very clean and comfortable. If you are used to watching TV all the time, you will learn how to communicate with each other again since the room did not have one (a positive comment!) We are looking forward to going back soon, and will also be recommending it to our friends.

I found the Taylor House to be a beautiful, comfortable place to spend an entire week. Tessa and Bernard are extremely hospitable. Bernard even carried my big suitcase up and down the stairs! I can hardly wait to go back!

We chose this as an alternative to a chain hotel. We had a pleasant stay. We felt that while we had stayed in better B&B's, this one was a good value.

The Taylor House Inn was the 'most gracious & friendly Bed & Breakfast. Tessa & Bernard Russo were so pleasant & gracious people that run the Inn. The food was fabulous and everything was so clean. My husband and I felt at home! What a beautiful experience, we will diffently return!

We had my daughter's Bridesmaids luncheon at The Taylor House Inn. Tessa had us set up on the front porch. The setting was perfect and the food was delicious. They were wonderful to work with. I would do the same thing again in a heartbeat!!

Our hosts Tessa and Bernard were very gracious. Tessa's breakfasts and afternoon snacks were delicious. Very quite and restful place to stay close to downtown Valle Cruis.

Mid afternoon arrival with ginger cookies and coffee/tea waiting. Upside down pineapple cake later in evening. Totally unexpected. Only 3 couples staying that night so (without asking us), Tessa offered us an upgraded room. Amazing! Chocolate kisses at bedside. Lots of attention to detail. Breakfast was delicious, but a little over the top for my taste. Overall excellent experience!

June 16, 2012 - We held our daughter and son-in-laws wedding reception at the Taylor House Inn, Banner Elk, NC the Inn Keepers and Owners Tessa and Bernard Russo are the most gracious people I have ever meet. They opened their beautiful home and hearts to us all, the wedding reception was amazing under the big white tent with mountain views all around. It is the wedding location of a lifetime. Tessa and Bernard helped make our day absolutely amazing. We left Banner Elk that Sunday knowing we had made two new great friends. I would highly recommend the Taylor House Inn for a Wedding, any event, or just to get away. You will stay and then you will return, the beauty of the Taylor House Inn and the generosity of Bernard and Tessa just draws you in.

This was my first stay at a Bed & Breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised - super friendly owners, lots of complimentary coffee/tea choices, comfy bed, very clean, and lovely view!

We had our wedding at the Taylor House Inn on May 27, 2012. My family stayed at the Inn for the weekend and the inn-services were wonderful. Their Wedding services were equally outstanding. Bernard and Tessa assisted us with any details we needed and were flexible regarding our requests and last minute changes. The wedding set-up turned out beautiful- just what I wanted. I would highly recommend for a vacation or event. It is an amazing value for an amazing venue.

We stayed at the Taylor House at the end of May 2012 for our anniversary weekend and Tessa and Bernard were so hospitable, but definitely not overbearing. The location is gorgeous – a perfect distance to feel secluded but not so much that you actually are. The house itself is beautiful and the room we stayed in was so relaxing (Aunt Doris Room #2)! The décor is more updated than what is shown in the current website photo (very pleasing to the eye). The food was absolutely delicious!! A made from scratch, two course gourmet breakfast was served every morning. Tessa is a fabulous cook – she was even able to accommodate my dairy-free diet without blinking. This was such a wonderful experience that my husband and I are looking forward to making this the place we visit every year for our anniversary – Lord willing!

We as a couple enjoyed a perfect 2-night stay, and found the accomodations, setting, and hospitality exceptional. Our hosts were gracious, kind and generous with lovely breakfasts, afternoon tea and wine & cheese. This was our most relaxing and pleasant bed & breakfast visit ever, and we have been traveling to Valle Crucis and the NC highlands for 20+ years.

Although we have stayed at much nicer B&B facilities, the owners service attitude made up for any defeciencies. We received an upgrade w/o asking for our wedding anniversary. Rooms include free wifi, complementary beverages, and phone use.

Couldn't have asked for more out of a weekend getaway at the Taylor House Inn. The hosts were wonderful and helpful, the room was delightful and the breakfast was delicious!

We made our reservation for a stay last year but had a problem getting to the Inn that night and had to cancel after the cancelation deadline. Bernard suggested a win-win for all of us that allowed us to stay at a later date and not endure any cost penalty. It was wonderful to know we had selected such fine Inn Keepers for our getaway weekend. We just stayed with Tessa and Bernard and had a wonderful time at their beautiful Inn and enjoying their hospitality.

Off the beaten path, but a great place to go to relax. We showed up in the middle of a hail storm and were given a room upgrade from the outdoor cabin to an in the house room to make things easier with luggage, etc. We had a great time and would recommend to friends. The only reason rooms didn't get 5 stars is because we would have liked darker curtains on the windows.

From the enticing front porch to the wonderfully appointed room to the delightful breakfasts, the Taylor House and it's innkeepers, exceeded all expectations. The Russo's have not missed a single detail to insure that our stay was a 5-star experience. Not only is the inn itself gorgeous, but Tessa and Bernard are so genuinely warm and welcoming, you feel as if you've known them forever! Thank you both, for a terrific experience. Kathy H.

Our daughter and son-in-law gave us a two night stay at Taylor House Inn B&B to celebrate our 50th anniversary! We could not have been more pleased! Our hosts were so accommodating and yet we had complete privacy. They were very knowledgeable about restaurants near by for great dinners, and attractions in the area.Our breakfasts were divine (we are a little spoiled...our son is a chef!) We would recommend this jewel to everyone!

This is the second time in two years that we had the opportunity to stay at the Taylor House Inn. We have stayed both times in the Flower Cottage, a room in a separate cottage behind the main Inn. It is very warm, comfortable, affordable and private, with it's own bath. Our hosts served a wonderful breakfast which included fresh fruit and eggs benedict! We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.

This was our first experience at a B&B and we loved it. The owners were fantastic, so nice, extremely helpful and accomodating. The house is lovely and the room was comfortable and relaxing. We would definitely go back.

This was the first time my husband and I had stayed at a B&B. I can't say enough great things about The Taylor House Inn! The Inn Keepers, Tessa and Bernard, as well as the Inn itself were warm and inviting with more than I expected for a B&B. The breakfast was out of this world, plenty filling to hold you off until dinner and snacks in the early evening to keep you warm an cozy through the night (The menu was always changing). The house has many bedrooms, perfectly updated but still keeping in tact with the charm of the house. Each bedroom seemed to have its own private bathroom, which was excellent. The Inn is perfectly situated between all of the local ski spots (Sugar, Beech, and Appalachian Mountains),waterfalls, hiking, and towns of Boone and Blowing Rock. The Inn Keepers are very familiar with the area and provided excellent ideas for fun filled days. It was the perfect accommodation for our long weekend getaway to appreciate all the simple things in life. This is a must stay for all those traveling to the mountains. We will definitely return with friends and family.

Quaint and timeless, the Taylor House was a cozy end to our short vacation. Bernard and Tessa were perfect hosts with abundant cheer and good advice for local dining and to-do's. After a long walk around the crisp and majestic country side, I'm afraid we may have drank them out of their apple cider, but the stay would not have been the same without it. Breakfast could not have been better or more filling, as it was accented with classic French accoutrement. I left feeling more like I was leaving home only to return one day to the warm smiles and firm hugs of a newly acquired family. We were there for only 1 night for my wife's birthday. Tessa & Bernard were outstanding hosts. They upgraded our room for my wife's birthday - no extra cost! We enjoyed our stay - it was perfect for our 1 night; we will stay again and recommend.

Lovely place 15 minutes outside of Boone and Banner Elk, NC. It was a wonderful stay, great room, and charming owners. I will be going back next time I ski Sugar Mnt.

The rooms were chilly. I woke up several times and was cold. The hot water was great however. Filled up the bathtub and never ran out. Would go back, but would pick a room that wasn't on the1st floor.

The owners are wonderful hosts. The house is in a wonderful rural area within a short driving distance to the ski sloped and the Mast General Store. It was simply wonderful and we will return.

I just want to say thanks for the best time. The place it's amazing, the attention from Mr Bernard and Ms Tessa make you feel like home. Very sweet people, many beatiful details, and the place it's a dream. MORE THAN OUTSTANDING

Stayed in the Squire Taylor Suite. The place has a wonderful atmosphere to it. My only complaint was the chair and couch in the sitting area were uncomfortable to sit in. They look wonderful but were not conducive to sitting in them for any length of time.The service and food were excellent.

We had a fabulous new years weekend here, and can't say enough good things about the experience. The Russos are so welcoming, cordial and breakfast is delicious. We loved our room, and will definitely visit again!

We planned a weekend getaway to go skiing and enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountain area. What a great weekend it turned out to be! The innkeepers were perfect hosts, tending to our needs and making sure we had directions to our destinations. Our room was perfectly appointed and warm, which was nice to came back to after a long day out in the cold. Breakfast was outstanding both mornings. I cannot say enough about Tessa and Bernard. They made our stay very special. We will definitely return!!

My wife and I have made each other a promise to get away every year on our anniversary, even if for only one night. Sure enough, this year work schedules and family obligations restricted us to just one night. So we wanted to do something special. Neither of us had ever stayed at a B&B before, but have often talked about it. We decided that was what we would do this year. The economic of course gave us some restrictions, and Taylor House Inn fit our budget and was absolutely beautiful as well. We could not have asked for better. The house is gorgeous, the room was spotless and very comfortable, the extras like long distance (including international) calls, drinks in the in room refridgerator, and downstairs refreshments were complimentary. Breakfast was incredible and there's no way you leave the table hungry.

The Taylor House sits amongst beautiful trees in the back and the front porch of the main house overlooks a stream and pasture. Quiet, calm and serene are words that come to mind. The rooms are charming and inviting, each with its own personality. The innkeepers are friendly, likeable and anxious to please. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there!

This was our first experience at a B&B. We were celebrating our 11th wedding aniversary. We loved our stay and will come back again. The best thing about a B&B is the social interaction with other guest and the innkeepers. That just doesn't happen in a hotel. In fact one of the guest gave us free tickets to the ASU Football Game (Thanks again for the tickets). I will definitely stay at this B&B again. In fact I might start using B&Bs over hotels in the future. Great job Tessa and Bernard.

My wife and I decided to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary by staying in a B&B in the Banner Elk / Valle Crucis area of North Carolina because of the charm and character of the local area. We chose the Taylor House Inn because of its good reviews on B&B.com, the quaint appearance of the photos on its website, and because it is tucked away in a more rural area on a map. We were not dissappointed. The Inn has the ambiance of a bygone era of the old South, nestled away in the hills. We stayed in the Lou Hill Smith's suite which was quite spacious and private, located at the top floor of the house. Tessa provided us warm, scruptious breakfasts and Bernard provided excellent recommendations on what to do, see, and eat in the local area. We'll be a return customer!

Just had a fantastic trip to the NC mountains and no visit is complete without staying at the Taylor House Bed and Breakfast in Valle Crucis ( have stayed numerous times). The house is lovely, the rooms are roomy, clean and very comfortable. The hosts, Tessa and Bernard, go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable and individualized. Tessa made my partner and I a wonderful vegan breakfast.

If you're going to call the Taylor House Inn a Bed & Breakfast, you need to put the word BREAKFAST in all caps. Best B&B dining I've ever had. The location is conveniently nestled between some of NC's best sites and attractions and close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which for our October stay was a must. The only reason a couple of my ratings were "Met my expectations" and not higher, was that research had led me to expect top quality. I was not disappointed.

My Husband and I just had our wedding at the Taylor House Inn. Planning a destination wedding on my own seemed difficult, but Tessa had all the answers to any questions that I had. She arranged all of the rentals that we needed and put me in touch with the right people to make the whole thing happen. The weather changed drastically a couple of days before the wedding and she secured a much needed heater for the reception. Bernard did the photography and took beautiful pictures. We were able to rent the entire Inn for our family, which made everything very easy. They were both very accommodating and helped make our day special. Even though we only staying at the Bed and Breakfast to sleep and eat, we still very much enjoyed it. Mr. and Mrs. Russo are very warm and charming. They are a perfect fit at the Taylor House Inn. The property is picturesque, and the rooms are quaint with simple design, which makes it all that more comfortable. Tessa and Bernard, it was a pleasure. We would love to stay there again.

Our hosts were very sensitive to our dietary needs and went out of their way to accomodate them. They gave us excellant recommendations for day trips and fine dining. We will certainily return to Taylor House Inn.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at the Taylor House Inn. The owners, who have personable and pleasant in the past, became much more like friends this trip. They do a remarkable job with service and food in a part of the world where both are somewhat hard to come by.

Quiet and pastoral location right next to the conveniences of Boone and the mountains, but without the hubbub. Delicious breakfast!

Tessa and Bernard are charming, lively and attentive hosts - they absolutely cannot be topped in terms of hospitality. They truly make you feel welcome without being the least bit intrusive. The inn is located off of a windy country road, in a beautiful wooded setting. Other than the occassional car passing by, you can sit on the front porch (rocking chairs or swing) and listen to the sounds of nature - it is a nice escape from city life. We were also able to walk to the Mast General Store from the inn. Bernard is a great source for ideas and information about the area. We went to the mountains with no specific plans, and he helped map out our days. Tessa is an excellent cook - breakfast was different each day (we stayed four nights) and the service was 5-star. I felt like a princess every morning! The rooms were clean and neat - yes, it is an older inn, but well cared for. We did receive an upgrade when we arrived, which was very appreciated. The Aunt Doris room is comfortable and quiet (and has a charming claw-foot tub in the bath). The bed was made up and towels replaced each day, so we always came back to a neat room. Overall, this was a pleasant stay with hosts who made us feel completely welcome and at home. Highly recommended!

The location was perfect, the breakfast was detailed, delicious and filling, the room was large, uncluttered and clean. We do note that we received a free upgrade because not all rooms were filled. The innkeepers were friendly, hospitable and engaging. Will seek to go back.

I would say that the host/hostess were the best there is! We will certainly recommend this B & B and will go back again. We were there for l week.

My fiancee and I went up to Taylor House to have a middle-of-the-week "weekend getaway" (she works weekends). We saw everything online, made reservations, etc., and came up for our stay. We got a bit lost on the way inn, so we called - and Tessa expertly, and happily, directed us in. So far, so good. Then, when we arrived, we were treated to a sudden upgrade in room - an unexpected, and very much appreciated, bonus! As we needed a place to eat that night, Tessa helped us find a great little spot (she apparently knows all the great-food places in the area). Then, we settled in, had a good sleep, and awoke - to an amazing two-course breakfast. And, by "amazing," I mean AMAZING. And that's why there are so many "Outstandings" in our review. Because, frankly, they truly were "outstanding." Personally, I'm not big on giving out 5/5 reviews, since so few things are outstanding. However, Tessa & Bernard truly did provide us with an outstanding experience. And, as the title says, it was so good that ... well, I just booked our return trip. There is one note that people should be aware of: it's an older house, tucked into a valley. Given that, as you might expect, there's a bit of a smell of dampness to it. People with some breathing conditions may want to make sure you get the hypoallergenic pillows (available) and turn on the A/C to clear things out. It kinda comes with the territory. I wouldn't mention it except that I have members of my family who are sensitive to such things, so folks should know. That said, again: our experience was so wonderful, we're returning soon!

We love to go the the mountains to escape the summer heat. The Taylor house is a great place to land. Tessa and Bernard are great hosts. The location allows us a short drive to the park for a walk, a short trip into Banner Elk or Blowing Rock.

It was our 55th Wedding Anniversary and the Russos went out of their way to make it very special for us. We had a suite, a wonderful upgrade, and breakfast was delicious. Before we stayed at the Inn we had asked about places to eat for dinner, and Mrs Russo went spent some time arranging a reservation for us, so that the whole experience really exceeded our expectations. It was an anniversary we will remember.

The Taylor House Inn was a pleasant surprise. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The house was beautifully decorated with stunning artwork. The innkeepers were delightful and friendly, hailing from France and Italy. We enjoyed chatting with them about their amazing travels over a five star French breakfast of pastry and souflee. The overall experience felt like it could just as easily have been an inn in Switzerland. Loved it, and we would highly recommend the Taylor House and it's charming owners' hospitality to anyone seeking a romantic retreat.

Bernard and Tessa are the best hosts, they are friendly without invading your privacy. Very helpful with planning trips. The house is clean and comfortable and we loved the porch. The breakfast is a gourmet delight, something different every day. Delicious and filling, set us up for the day. We were there in early July for four days and we will defineatly come back if we can.

On December 26, 2010 I married the man of my dreams at the TAYLOR HOUSE INN! With only two weeks notice (and Christmas right around the corner!), Tessa thought of EVERYTHING and made it look easy. She and Bernard hosted our fairytale wedding and provided our family excellent accommodations. Every time we gather we long for her egg roulade! Bernard captured every step of the weekend beautifully in photos. I could not be more pleased, every element of our wedding and stay exceeded our dreams, and the snow was a bonus! My son had his wedding at the Taylor House and we, his parent, were very pleased. We stayed the night of the wedding and found everything to be far beyond our expectations. We plan to return for another stay in the near future.

I stayed at the Taylor House Inn in early May with my 2 young daughters (6 and 4). The house was built in the early 1900's but it is very clean, comfortable, and doesn't smell like an old house. The room was comfortable and clean and we slept with the window open so we could hear the stream across the street. The best part of the stay is the Inn owners (Tessa and Bernard)...they really made us feel welcome and at home. Bernard even cut my youngest pancakes for her. :^)

My wife and I spent two nights at Taylor House Inn for her birthday. We used to come to Valle Crucis for several years, but never had the pleasure of staying here until now. The accommodations were lovely, the host were warm and friendly and made every effort to assure our stay was memorable. We will return!

The owners are very accommodating and the dog next door (Jack the Black Lab) is as nice a neighbor as you will ever meet.

My husband and I were traveling in the mountains with another couple and booked rooms at the Taylor House based on reviews and price. We had two large, bright, immaculate rooms with comfortable king beds. Tessa prepared a gourmet breakfast, and portions were more generous than those often served at B&B's. Because the inn is a bit off the beaten track, if you arrive after the dinner hour, as we did, you might want to stop at a restaurant in Boone or Blowing Rock before checking in. Note: judging from photo albums displayed in the living room, the Taylor House is a lovely place for a wedding.

On Monday, April 18th, my wife and I spent a wonderful day at the Taylor Inn to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary. The location could not have been more charming and the Innkeepers seemed, almost at once, like family. We were fortunate to be able to view every room and will be comfortable in any one of them when we return for another visit. The atmosphere seemed to lower our blood pressure by at least 30 points. Both Tessa and Bernard proved to be historians on the area and handled all of our inquiries with ease. Breakfast the following morning was five star. We look forward to opportunities to visit our wonderful hosts again.

Upon arrival we discovered, we had been granted an upgrade to a larger room. The Inn is very clean and comfortable. Our breakfast on both days of our stay was wonderful. The Inn Keepers made our stay very comfortable. My husband and I are very laid-back; we enjoyed the way the inn keepers were friendly, helpful, accommodating, and not hoovering.

Really enjoyed our stay, Tessa & Bernard made our first stay in a Bed and Breakfast a wonderful experience. Their home is beautiful, very inviting and the breakfast was great. We will stay with the Russos again in the very near future.

As a first time bed and breakfast guest, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. We were greeted warmly and promptly by Bernard, who upgraded our room for free. He provided dinner recommendations, maps, and even the weather report! We wanted for nothing during our stay. The room was spacious and clean, with luxurious bedding. I was surprised that there was no TV in the room, but what a small price to pay for an beautiful weekend in a beautiful area. We would definately stay again!

my husband and i needed a long overdue break..he from teaching, me from caring for my 92 year old mother, so, we decided to take a week off during his semester break and travel down the blue ridge drive to visit north carolina. i found the taylor inn on your site and it looked perfect. we wanted a place in the country and i immediately fell in love with the inn and it's big front porch. we spent two wonderful days at the inn and the innkeepers couldn't have been more caring. the food was absolutely wonderful..both days we were so full from breakfast that we skipped lunch altogether!! I can't wait to return again to our "home" in North Carolina!

I was very hesitant about staying at a Bed and Breakfast due to noises, but honestly I had a GREAT first experience and look forward to staying with Tessa and Bernard in the near future. Hospitality and breakfasts were the best!!!

We were in town for a birthday celebration and it was a wonderful highlight of our trip to stay at the Taylor House Inn! Several aspects of our trip were less than satisfactory but each night that we returned to the inn our spirits were lifted by the wonderful atmosphere. We were upgraded based on availablity for the birthday we were celebrating and that was awesome! Our room was extremely clean, beautifully & eclectically decorated. Bernard and Tessa are really gracious hosts and have done an excellent job as innkeepers!

We have stayed here twice now. The first time was by a series of unforeseen events. The second time was based on past experience. The cute private cottage is nice and romantic, for the same price as the in-house rooms! The grounds are cute. The pastries are delicious and the coffee was smooth.

My wife and I skied all day at Beech Mountain and then stayed at the Taylor House Inn. For the money that we paid this was an excellent value. It was a weekday and we were the only ones there. We were upgraded to a very beautiful upstairs room with a private bath. The hosts had hot brownies and cocoa waiting for us and gave us several recommendations for local restaurants for dinner. The room was clean, the shower was hot, the bed was very comfortable. There is nothing really to complain about at this place. They cooked my wife's favorite, Eggs Benedict for breakfast. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Inn to anyone. It might be a different experience if it's crowded in peak season but for us it was a very pleasant getaway! The attitude of the hosts can make all the difference and they really couldn't be nicer.

We had a wonderful time at this quanit 100 yr. old house. The inn keepers were very gracious and excellent cooks. A great place to just get away from it all.

We found this B&B when planning a trip to Sugar Mountain. The couple who runs it were extremely accomodating and friendly. They made the quick little ski get away something to remember. Unbelievable find!

The couple who runs Taylor House Inn are genuinely kind people who really do just want you to have the best weekend possible. The breakfast was amazing! We felt like we were being treated like royalty. The location is great- far enough away from everything that you feel like you're at a getaway in the mountains, but close enough for a short drive to anywhere you want to go. I definitely recommend this place for everyone!

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in January and it was absolutely wonderful. If you are looking for a nice romantic getaway, this is the place to stay. We were only a few miles away from Sugar Mountain where we went snowboarding. The inn was well kept and very clean. It was a romantic and cozy feel. Wonderful hospitality and the inn keepers were very nice and friendly. The two coarse breakfast each morning was amazing! I will definately stay again.

We stayed at Taylor House Inn for one night December 30th. We found the inn to be very warm and inviting. Tessa and Bernard are amazing Innkeepers, they make you feel right at home. The rooms feel very private and are well appointed and cozy. I follow a vegan diet so Tessa prepared a custom breakfast just for me! The property is breathtaking. We will be back, and in the meantime we will tell all our friends about this wonderful Inn.

First time staying at an Inn and Ive been telling everyone about it. The owners give you a key to the house so you can go in and get coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cake whenever you want. We stayed in a private cabin with bathroom. Its a quick drive to any ski resort. This is the only place Ill be staying whenever I visit N.C. again.

We were upgraded to a room in the house the moment we arrived. Innkeepers could not have been more accommodating. Changed our breakfast time to an hour earlier upon our request so we could hit the slopes sooner. Breakfast was amazing! Eggs Benedict and other French foods as well, all from scratch! Will be back!

I can't speak highly enough about our stay at the Taylor House Inn! From the moment we walked in the hospitality was superb. Coffee, tea and treats were always available. Breakfast was elegant and delicious. The Inn was not at full occupancy so Tessa and Bernard graciously upgraded our room. And Bernard provided a great guide for exporation of Boone, Blowing Rock, and Grandfather Mountain. We will surely be back!

Our trip to the Boone, NC, area was enhanced by our stay at the Taylor House Inn. It is located in a beautiful area with a great view of the countryside, the service and breakfast were excellent, and the house and rooms were very well kept and comfortable -- well worth such a reasonable price. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area wanting to stay at a B&B.

In our travels, my husband and I have stayed at some really good B&B's, but Taylor House Inn is our new favorite! With warm and gracious hosts Tessa and Bernard, in a lovely 100 year old farmhouse surrounded by trees and mountains, the THI is a revelation. We were celebrating our anniversary and found this inn, booked it and were delighted to find upon arrival that we were upgraded to a larger room. Fresh warm muffins awaited us, along with hot apple cider, and we enjoyed those while sitting on the expansive wraparound porch and amongst the beautiful scenery. The interiors of the house are filled with unbelievable artwork from the innkeeper's mother and daughter and it's as though you are staying in an art museum! The rooms are lovely, complete with stocked refrigerators, robes and Hershey kisses by the bed and the house itself, even at 100 years old, is very quiet. The breakfast was nothing short of spectacular, with the innkeeper's heritage proudly on display with a wonderful meal that would be at home in a fine restaurant. The THI is located a stone's throw from Boone and Blowing Rock, and is affordable elegance! We stayed at a fraction of the price of other inns in that area, and had an extraordinary time! Bernard and Tessa, it was wonderful and we'll be back shortly!

We were welcomed to this charming and comfortable B and B by the gracious proprietors Tessa and Bernard. We were made to feel at home immediately as Tessa showed us around the home. Lovely original artwork adorn the walls and the rooms were comfortable, neat as a pin and well stocked with all the amenities a guest might need. There is coffee, tea (a huge variety), hot cocoa available to guests almost all day. Breakfast was a delicious two course event. Tessa will claim that she's not a chef but her breakfasts both days were original and DELICIOUS. The proprietors' ease permeates their home as each day we visited and chatted quite comfortably with them and the other guests there. The B and B is centrally located and an absolute gem.

We stayed in the Little Red Room which needs a few updates for a more comfortable stay.
