My boyfriend and I recently spent the weekend at the Taylor House Inn and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We stayed in the Flower Cottage and were very happy with our room. Tessa was a wonderful cook and both mornings we had breakfast the food was delicious. Bernard and Tessa truly did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. The Taylor House Inn is about 20 minutes from Sugar Mountain, and it was an easy drive to the mountain.

We enjoyed a quiet, relaxing night at The Taylor House Inn. Bernard made us feel welcome and we were able to come and go as we pleased. The Flower cottage was comfortable and warm during our winter stay. Breakfast wad delicious.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Taylor House Inn last weekend. We were warmly welcomed and pleased to find the house beautifully lit and decorated for Christmas! Bernard was so helpful when we arrived, and made sure we had everything we needed, including information about the surrounding area. Our bed was so comfortable! The ensuite bathroom was adequate if small, with lots of extra touches, and fresh towels daily. The Inn is beautifully situated, and not far from some wonderful places to eat, shop, and enjoy the beautiful mountains. Our breakfast was delicious, and our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer! We would gladly return, and would recommend it without hesitation!

A very nicely decorated house with style and atmosphere. The owners are especially friendly, helpful, and it is a joy to stay in their Inn. The breakfast is very good and served in a stylish way. There is a very good restaurant just around the corner. The country setting provides excellent views.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Taylor House inn so very much. The house is beautiful, set in picturesque farm land, and we were greeted as soon as we arrived with pumpkin pie and hot cocoa. Our room was so quaint and so clean. Our sheets felt amazing and the tub was so clean that I didn't hesitate to take a warm bath before bed. The best part? The delicious breakfast! Tessa Russo can cook!!! And it was all presented and served so nicely. We made great memories and we want to return :)

My wife and I took a short trip to the mountains and stayed at the Taylor House Inn. We stayed in the Squire Taylor Suite on the first floor. It was absolutely a wonderful experience. Tessa and Bernard made us feel welcome and made us feel like we were wanted and appreciated. The room was outstanding. Warm and cozy with a fireplace. The bed slept better than what we have a home. We can't wait to go back. Also Tessa's cooking is wonderful. Overall it was a perfect experience.

Stayed one night and felt lucky to have found this gorgeous old country house. Setting is picturesque, with stone wall and wooded country surroundings. We stayed in large corner room with excellent remodeled bath. Breakfast frittata was wonderful and well-presented in the restored home's formal dining room. Hosts were personable and warm, but not at all intrusive. We'd stay here again!

One of the best B&B's I have visited. Arrived as a Guest, left as family! The house and amenities were wonderful. Couldn't have asked for anything better. We stayed in the Little Cottage but had access to the main house as well 24/7. Coffee in the morning, Wine/Cheese reception in the evening allowed you to mingle with fellow guests or grab and go if you wanted to left alone. Great porch for relaxing. Free Wifi so that you can stay connected if necessary but with no TV or cell service, the ability to disconnect for a few days did wonders for my ability to recharge my batteries. I don't know if it was because there was no cell service but we had a telephone in our room with free calls (which is absolutely unheard of). This allowed us to check in with family, letting them know we arrived safely, and gave a connection to the outside world incase it would send you into withdrawls. Breakfast was served daily at 9. This was perfect! It allowed us to sleep in a little bit but still not waste away the day.

My wife and I go to the Taylor House Inn each year for our anniversary. The beautiful town drew us to the area -- the Inn is just minutes from historic Valle Cruces, a great destination rain or shine. The view from the Inn overlooks a beautiful valley and is just minutes away from a brisk hike to a beautiful waterfall. Bernard is quite the botanist keeping flower gardens and shrubs all over the property shaded by 100 year old trees with a giant front porch and gazebo. Once you enter the house you see a large open living room full of beautiful art and warm seating. The hallway always has hot water and tea along with French style coffee and a delicious bread or cake. The Russo's are very welcoming and always go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying each aspect of your stay. Although we had reserved a different room I mentioned to Bernard that my wife would love to be in the room with the claw foot tub (Aunt Doris). Someone had canceled that day and he upgraded our room on the spot! The King size beds are always comfortable and each room has its own unique and well framed view. Almost every room has its own restroom and mini fridge, the attic suite even has a television and couch (it's the honeymoon suite so it's setup for an extended stay). Tessa is truly a French Chef. We had a wonderful Kish and miniature French pastries one morning and Waffles with fresh fruit and wonderful maple syrup with all kinds of fresh nuts. The Dining room is spacious and set up with one large table and three smaller in case there's a couple who would like to sit off to themselves. They have menus and restaurant recommendations available on request and lots of literature for things to do in the area in case your original plans aren't panning out. My wife and I will be back for years to come, if you're looking for a mountain getaway you ought to check out the Taylor House Inn, you will be glad you did.

This was my third time staying at the Taylor House. Upon arriving Tessa put out some delicious crackers and cheese. I didn't even need to go out for supper, as the snack filled me up. I was there for the Scottish Fiddle School at the conference center next door. It was so nice to get away from the hustle and bustle and relax for awhile every afternoon, and late at night. Bernard didn't mind if we practiced our fiddles. He even allowed us to use the piano. I was able to compose some parts to one of the tunes which I wrote. Breakfasts were spectacular! Tessa could be on the Food Network. Very healthy foods were served every morning with very attractive presentations. This is so much better than the waffle/bagel thing you get at most hotels. This time I stayed in the "Little Room in the Red Cottage". It was perfect for me. Every morning they clean up your room and give you plenty of towels. They make up your bed perfectly, even if you try to make it yourself. Tessa and Bernard are the perfect hosts. If you need anything, they will do what they can to help you. I can hardly wait to go back next year.

Taylor House Inn is a ver attractive property with colorful flowers and huge trees. The main house itself is very inviting and it is well decorated and comfortable inside. Our accommodations included a large sitting area and a large bedroom with roomy bath. The property managers were very pleasant and helpful. A great place to stay that matches well with this area we were visiting.

The Salmon with breakfast was the best thing I ever tasted. Loved the location with the river and farms right across the street. Bed was great. We stayed in the main house. The outside cabin was not as attractive to us. Claw foot tub - wonderful. Grounds - very inviting. Porch was superb. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. The only thing bad was that we could only stay for one night.

My fiancé and I chose the Taylor House for our wedding on April 12. It was absolutely perfect! We were married on the front porch and our guests enjoyed a reception on the porch, in the house, and on the front lawn following the ceramony. We loved that our immediate family could stay at the inn the weekend of the wedding. And, Tessa and Bernard were so accommodating and helpful. Tessa eased my anxieties about planning an "out of town" wedding and patiently answered lots of questions and emails from me in the months leading up to the wedding. We could not have asked for a better location for our "destination" wedding. We certainly plan to visit the Taylor House each year for our anniversary!

We enjoyed the suite at the top of the house-- a big comfy bed with a reading nook off to the side. The breakfasts are two-course and beautiful, simple, delicious food. Should you have food sensitivities, Tessa and Bernard will make substitutions. The house feels quiet and restful, and is tucked into a pastoral backdrop of mountain, wood, and pasture. Just lovely.

We had a wonderful time at the Taylor House Inn. It was nice having the hot tea, hot chocolate and cider available to us at any time. We brought our 9 month old baby with us and the hosts were very accommodating and welcoming to us. I cannot have dairy because of datary restrictions and Tessa made it possible for me to eat without making me feel like a burden, The last day we were there, Bernard came and held our sweet baby while we ate so I could eat my breakfast in peace. These people are wonderful and so sweet. Thank you so much Russo's!!!!

Taylor House Inn is a priceless vacation Getaway at a very affordable price. Tessa and Bernard, the Inn Keepers, became like family. Everything that could be done to make our stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible, was done. The rooms were magnificent and designed in the best of taste. The meals were not just delicious, they were truly memorable. My wife and I went with the expectation of having a time of reflection and relaxation. We left, having achieved those expectations; but also, having some very precious new memories. Thank you Tessa and Bernard and Taylor House Inn for one of the most joyous times of our lives.

For the most part, we enjoyed our stay at the Flower Cottage. Extremely comfortable bed, great shower, great main house, great food. The pump that ran every 5 minutes all night long kept us up, and walking across the muddy yard to get to the cottage could both easily be remedied. Gracious hosts.

This was our second visit to the Taylor House Inn and it was as enjoyable as the first. Because we were there during the week in October, there were not many other guests, but the breakfast was excellent and the conversations with the hosts and other guest very enjoyable. Tessa breakfast with a special French flare added to the meal. The weather was beautiful for early October, and Bernard's suggestion to see Grandfather Mountain worked our perfect with clear weather and little wind. A must see.

Overall, the accommodations were average to beliw average. The positives- The owners were very nice. The grounds are beautiful. The negatives- the air conditioning was sub par, the bathroom tub did not drain and the sink fixture came off in my hands. The floors were "squishy" in the bathroom. We did not eat at the inn, so cannot provide feedback about the food. Probably wont stay at this inn again.

We were guests at Taylor House for four nights in mid April and I don't think we could have picked a better place to stay. The room was incredibly clean and the location is central to everything, but quiet and removed from the bustle of the tourist areas. Thank you Tessa and we will be back!

A few simple things could have really made a difference - hook on the back of the bathroom door so you have a place to hang your robe while you're showering, an extra wastebasket in the room instead of just in the bathroom, choice between 2 items for breakfast, greeting and socalizing with all of the guests, not just the 2 most talkative... Probably won't stay here again.

We spent an amazing weekend at the Taylor House Inn thanks to Tessa and Bernard. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. When Tessa learnt that we were traveling with our 3 year old daughter, she rented us the entire floor for the price of one room just so the little one could get all the space she needed. The breakfast was an out of the world experience - sumptous pancakes, fresh fruit, gourmet coffee. The sunlight in the dining room, the cozy living room, the lovely art pieces throughout the house - we will cherish all the memories.

We spent the weekend of March 1st to celebrate our marriage anniversary and we couldn't choose better. The place is beautiful, full of personality. Tessa and Bernard are perfect hosts, providing all we need to feel at home. The breakfast is delicious and sophisticated. In the living room, there's a sign saying: "enter as strangers, leave as friends" and I wouldn't describe better.

My husband and I just returned from a lovely three night stay at the Taylor House Inn. We chose the Inn based on reviews we read online, and we were not disappointed. The house itself was beautiful, and the hospitality offered by Tessa and Bernard was second to none. We arrived in a cold sleet and snow mix to find that we had been upgraded to a larger room in the main house (we had booked a smaller room in a cabin). The heat had even been turned up in our room in anticipation of our arrival. The room was spacious, the bed was comfy, and we had everything we needed. A small refrigerator stocked with water and soda was a welcome surprise. Downstairs, we had 24 hour access to an assortment of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. We thoroughly enjoyed each of the three breakfasts that were served during our stay. Everything was delicious, and Tessa enthusiastically embraced the challenge of my husband's dietary restrictions! Restaurant recommendations were excellent, as well, and Tessa even heated up our Italian food leftovers so that we could eat a quick lunch before taking off for an afternoon of skiing at nearby Sugar Mountain. We couldn't have asked for a more pleasant and relaxing stay, and we will surely find our way to the Taylor House Inn again soon!

Easily the best bed and breakfast I've ever stayed in! My wife and I checked in late and the owners were very accomodating. They also upgraded our room which we really appreciated! The breakfast was great. The owners were very happy and always had a smile on their face. They were very knowledgeable and had great recommendations for activities and resturants in the area. We will definately stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

We arrived to the Taylor House Inn after a long day of skiing. The hostess and host were amazing. We brought with us a cold container of homemade soup and they heated the meal up for us and had it waiting at the dinning room table in beautiful servings bowls. The snack they provided when we first arrived was delicious, a variety of cheeses and crackers, olives, homemade apple pie (DELIOCIOUS!) A wide variety of hot teas, coffee, wine to drink. The home was beautiful. We stayed in a little cottage outback that was warm and cozy and very intimate. The host was able to provide us with a map of the area and recommendations on restaurants and attractions we maybe interested in seeing. The next morning they served a delicious homemade meal and we had the opportunity to sit at the dinning room table and mingle with the other house guests. I totally feel if the hostesses was to serve a formal evening meal we would have paid anything she wanted to charge, her cooking was phenominal! I would definitaly recommend this B&B and hope we have the opportunity to stay there in the near future!

We arrived in a blizzard directed by Bernard on the phone. They upgraded our room to one upstairs since we had reserved the "Flower Cottage" which would have meant walking thru the mud and snow to get to our room. Every breakfast was beautifully served and delicious. When we decided to leave before breakfast on our last day Tessa even put the coffee out early to send us on our way warm and awake! They made our stay so pleasant. I'm happy we chose the Taylor House Inn!

This was our first time staying at the Taylor House Inn. The inn is a short drive from multiple ski resorts, state parks many great places to eat. Tessa and Bernard are fantastic hosts, providing us with directions and tips that helped us plan our daytime activities. Tessa is also a wonderful cook and prepared a delicious breakfast every morning. We highly recommend the Taylor House Inn if you’re planning a trip into the mountains of North Carolina!!

We had one of the best B&B experiences we've ever had when we stayed at Taylor House for 5 days in December. The Inn Keepers, Tessa and Bernard, are warm, friendly, and welcoming. Our room was spacious and comfortable. You are surrounded by simple but tasteful furnishings, beautifully coordinated decor (no B&B mauve anywhere), and unexpected pieces of art. Breakfast served in the dining room of this hundred year old house was artfully prepared and delicious. The house and grounds are well-maintained. Two heating systems guarantee that you will be comfortable. It was close to all the places we wanted to visit in Boone, Sugar Mtn., Linville, and Chimney Rock. We look forward to staying at Taylor House again.

We enjoyed Thanksgiving weekend at the inn. The owners are gracious and provide not just an immaculate inn and gourmet breakfasts, but respite from the hectic demands of work and family life. The inn is surrounded by mountain and vale-- lovely scenic views abound from the wide front porch. I enjoyed the comfortable bed in an elegant room. This was our second stay at the inn. I will return again.

Charmed. That is what the Taylor House Inn is. From the European, French Country decor and personalized and very friendly staff to the views and comfort, this Inn was a treat to ourselves to stay there. Taylor House Inn is only minutes from Boone and other small towns in the area that feature craft festivals and a host of other seasonal celebrations that include food and local craftsmen. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit and plan to return.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay so much! We felt so welcomed but at the same felt we had our privacy too. Tessa! The food was so yummy! My crepe this morning was heavenly! All the food was so special and tasted so good. Even my husband, the picky eater, loved it! And another thing! He kept saying over and over.... this bed is comfortable. We really loved grabbing our coffee and tea that was ready and waiting on us when we woke up and heading to the porch. Very convenient to all that we wanted to go see as well. Thank you for a cozy, lovely stay. The Griffins

My husband and I recently visited Taylor House Inn for a weekend away. We were celebrating our 7th anniversary. We had an amazing time! The Inn is lovely, our room was large and very comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent, as well as the wine and cheese on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The owners, Bernard and Tessa, were charming and funny. We will definitely be back as it was a wonderful experience!

Having just been married a couple of hours earlier, we arrived for a two-night honeymoon at the Taylor House Inn. We'd made reservations for the Little Room in the Red Cottage. The innkeeper quickly and generously offered to move us to Aunt Sue's Room in the main house. Guests were greeted with wine and cheeses. Breakfast on Sunday morning was lovely with whole wheat pancakes, turkey sausage, and wonderful rice pudding with peaches and rasberry sauce. Monday morning was graced with a scrumptious Italian pastry, the innkeeper's family recipe. We also enjoyed smoked salmon, asparagus, and a poached egg on an English muffin with hollandaise sauce. The setting is quiet and rural -- exactly what we were seeking -- but close enough to wonderful dining and nearby small towns and outdoor activities if one is interested in heading out and about.

The 101 year old house is stunning, and it is beautifully decorated, including original art from artists of the inn keepers family. Tessa and Bernad Russo are wonderful hosts, and the food served for breakfast was exquisite. I was seeing my son off to college, and staying at the Taylor House for two nights turned this trip into a mini vacation for me.

Our time at the Taylor House Inn was a very relaxing and peaceful time that we will most likely do again! The food, room, location, and hosts were all a part of making our stay an enjoyable experience.

We weren't sure where we'd be staying on our way home from Knoxville, so the night before we were looking at B&B's and hotels in the Boone area. We saw only positive comments about Taylor House and that clinched it for us! Those comments were absolutely correct---Taylor House is a truly delightful place to stay. The Inn Keepers, Tessa and Bernard are wonderful hosts---very helpful about places to eat and interesting places to see, and they served us a delicious breakfast also:) The Inn is charming and very clean and comfortable. If you are used to watching TV all the time, you will learn how to communicate with each other again since the room did not have one (a positive comment!) We are looking forward to going back soon, and will also be recommending it to our friends.

June 16, 2012 - We held our daughter and son-in-laws wedding reception at the Taylor House Inn, Banner Elk, NC the Inn Keepers and Owners Tessa and Bernard Russo are the most gracious people I have ever meet. They opened their beautiful home and hearts to us all, the wedding reception was amazing under the big white tent with mountain views all around. It is the wedding location of a lifetime. Tessa and Bernard helped make our day absolutely amazing. We left Banner Elk that Sunday knowing we had made two new great friends. I would highly recommend the Taylor House Inn for a Wedding, any event, or just to get away. You will stay and then you will return, the beauty of the Taylor House Inn and the generosity of Bernard and Tessa just draws you in.

I would highly recommend for a vacation or event. It is an amazing value for an amazing venue.

My husband and I stayed at the Taylor House Inn with our two grandaughters in June of this year. We have stayed at B&B's in San Antonio, TX; Charleston, SC; West Virginia, and many others, but none as welcoming as the Taylor House Inn. eE have passed it many times in our trips to NC, and I have always admired the beauty of the home and wished to stay there, and my wish came ture! I was not disappointed! We will return as often as we can. Thank you Bernard & Tessie Russo.

We stayed at the Taylor House at the end of May 2012 for our anniversary weekend and Tessa and Bernard were so hospitable, but definitely not overbearing. The location is gorgeous – a perfect distance to feel secluded but not so much that you actually are. The house itself is beautiful and the room we stayed in was so relaxing (Aunt Doris Room #2)! The décor is more updated than what is shown in the current website photo (very pleasing to the eye). The food was absolutely delicious!! A made from scratch, two course gourmet breakfast was served every morning. Tessa is a fabulous cook – she was even able to accommodate my dairy-free diet without blinking. This was such a wonderful experience that my husband and I are looking forward to making this the place we visit every year for our anniversary – Lord willing!

We made our reservation for a stay last year but had a problem getting to the Inn that night and had to cancel after the cancelation deadline. Bernard suggested a win-win for all of us that allowed us to stay at a later date and not endure any cost penalty. It was wonderful to know we had selected such fine Inn Keepers for our getaway weekend. We just stayed with Tessa and Bernard and had a wonderful time at their beautiful Inn and enjoying their hospitality.

Off the beaten path, but a great place to go to relax. We showed up in the middle of a hail storm and were given a room upgrade from the outdoor cabin to an in the house room to make things easier with luggage, etc. We had a great time and would recommend to friends. The only reason rooms didn't get 5 stars is because we would have liked darker curtains on the windows.

From the enticing front porch to the wonderfully appointed room to the delightful breakfasts, the Taylor House and it's innkeepers, exceeded all expectations. The Russo's have not missed a single detail to insure that our stay was a 5-star experience. Not only is the inn itself gorgeous, but Tessa and Bernard are so genuinely warm and welcoming, you feel as if you've known them forever! Thank you both, for a terrific experience. Kathy H.

Our daughter and son-in-law gave us a two night stay at Taylor House Inn B&B to celebrate our 50th anniversary! We could not have been more pleased! We would recommend this jewel to everyone!

This was the first time my husband and I had stayed at a B&B. I can't say enough great things about The Taylor House Inn! The Inn Keepers, Tessa and Bernard, as well as the Inn itself were warm and inviting with more than I expected for a B&B. The breakfast was out of this world, plenty filling to hold you off until dinner and snacks in the early evening to keep you warm an cozy through the night (The menu was always changing). The house has many bedrooms, perfectly updated but still keeping in tact with the charm of the house. Each bedroom seemed to have its own private bathroom, which was excellent. The Inn is perfectly situated between all of the local ski spots (Sugar, Beech, and Appalachian Mountains),waterfalls, hiking, and towns of Boone and Blowing Rock. The Inn Keepers are very familiar with the area and provided excellent ideas for fun filled days. It was the perfect accommodation for our long weekend getaway to appreciate all the simple things in life. This is a must stay for all those traveling to the mountains. We will definitely return with friends and family.

Quaint and timeless, the Taylor House was a cozy end to our short vacation. Bernard and Tessa were perfect hosts with abundant cheer and good advice for local dining and to-do's. After a long walk around the crisp and majestic country side, I'm afraid we may have drank them out of their apple cider, but the stay would not have been the same without it. Breakfast could not have been better or more filling, as it was accented with classic French accoutrement. I left feeling more like I was leaving home only to return one day to the warm smiles and firm hugs of a newly acquired family. Thank you Benard and Tessa we only wish peace and happiness in your future. See you next year! ~Jacob and Amy, Asheville, NC

My wife and I have made each other a promise to get away every year on our anniversary, even if for only one night. Sure enough, this year work schedules and family obligations restricted us to just one night. So we wanted to do something special. Neither of us had ever stayed at a B&B before, but have often talked about it. We decided that was what we would do this year. The economic of course gave us some restrictions, and Taylor House Inn fit our budget and was absolutely beautiful as well. We could not have asked for better. The house is gorgeous, the room was spotless and very comfortable, the extras like long distance (including international) calls, drinks in the in room refridgerator, and downstairs refreshments were complimentary. This was our first experience at a B&B. We were celebrating our 11th wedding aniversary. We loved our stay and will come back again. The best thing about a B&B is the social interaction with other guest and the innkeepers. That just doesn't happen in a hotel. In fact one of the guest gave us free tickets to the ASU Football Game (Thanks again for the tickets). I will definitely stay at this B&B again. In fact I might start using B&Bs over hotels in the future. Great job Tessa and Bernard.

My wife and I decided to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary by staying in a B&B in the Banner Elk / Valle Crucis area of North Carolina because of the charm and character of the local area. We chose the Taylor House Inn because of its good reviews on B&B.com, the quaint appearance of the photos on its website, and because it is tucked away in a more rural area on a map. We were not dissappointed. The Inn has the ambiance of a bygone era of the old South, nestled away in the hills. We stayed in the Lou Hill Smith's suite which was quite spacious and private, located at the top floor of the house. Tessa provided us warm, scruptious breakfasts and Bernard provided excellent recommendations on what to do, see, and eat in the local area. We'll be a return customer!

Tessa made my partner and I a wonderful vegan breakfast.

If you're going to call the Taylor House Inn a Bed & Breakfast, you need to put the word BREAKFAST in all caps. Best B&B dining I've ever had. The location is conveniently nestled between some of NC's best sites and attractions and close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which for our October stay was a must. The only reason a couple of my ratings were "Met my expectations" and not higher, was that research had led me to expect top quality. I was not disappointed.

My Husband and I just had our wedding at the Taylor House Inn. Planning a destination wedding on my own seemed difficult, but Tessa had all the answers to any questions that I had. She arranged all of the rentals that we needed and put me in touch with the right people to make the whole thing happen. The weather changed drastically a couple of days before the wedding and she secured a much needed heater for the reception. Bernard did the photography and took beautiful pictures. We were able to rent the entire Inn for our family, which made everything very easy. They were both very accommodating and helped make our day special. My husband and I also stayed here prior to booking it for our wedding site and were very pleased with our overall experience. - Jolene

Even though we only staying at the Bed and Breakfast to sleep and eat, we still very much enjoyed it. Mr. and Mrs. Russo are very warm and charming. They are a perfect fit at the Taylor House Inn. The property is picturesque, and the rooms are quaint with simple design, which makes it all that more comfortable. Tessa and Bernard, it was a pleasure. We would love to stay there again.

Everything about this B&B was excellent, but be sure to arrive from the main road, and not the back road from Banner Elk which is torn up.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at the Taylor House Inn. The owners, who have personable and pleasant in the past, became much more like friends this trip. They do a remarkable job with service and food in a part of the world where both are somewhat hard to come by.

Quiet and pastoral location right next to the conveniences of Boone and the mountains, but without the hubbub. Delicious breakfast!

Tessa and Bernard are charming, lively and attentive hosts - they absolutely cannot be topped in terms of hospitality. They truly make you feel welcome without being the least bit intrusive. The inn is located off of a windy country road, in a beautiful wooded setting. Other than the occassional car passing by, you can sit on the front porch (rocking chairs or swing) and listen to the sounds of nature - it is a nice escape from city life. We were also able to walk to the Mast General Store from the inn. Bernard is a great source for ideas and information about the area. We went to the mountains with no specific plans, and he helped map out our days. Tessa is an excellent cook - breakfast was different each day (we stayed four nights) and the service was 5-star. I felt like a princess every morning! The rooms were clean and neat - yes, it is an older inn, but well cared for. We did receive an upgrade when we arrived, which was very appreciated. The Aunt Doris room is comfortable and quiet (and has a charming claw-foot tub in the bath). The bed was made up and towels replaced each day, so we always came back to a neat room. Overall, this was a pleasant stay with hosts who made us feel completely welcome and at home. Highly recommended!

The location was perfect, the breakfast was detailed, delicious and filling, the room was large, uncluttered and clean. We do note that we received a free upgrade because not all rooms were filled. The innkeepers were friendly, hospitable and engaging. Will seek to go back.

I would say that the host/hostess were the best there is! We will certainly recommend this B & B and will go back again. We were there for l week.

My fiancee and I went up to Taylor House to have a middle-of-the-week "weekend getaway" (she works weekends). We saw everything online, made reservations, etc., and came up for our stay. We got a bit lost on the way inn, so we called - and Tessa expertly, and happily, directed us in. So far, so good. Then, when we arrived, we were treated to a sudden upgrade in room - an unexpected, and very much appreciated, bonus! As we needed a place to eat that night, Tessa helped us find a great little spot (she apparently knows all the great-food places in the area). Then, we settled in, had a good sleep, and awoke - to an amazing two-course breakfast. And, by "amazing," I mean AMAZING. And that's why there are so many "Outstandings" in our review. Because, frankly, they truly were "outstanding." Personally, I'm not big on giving out 5/5 reviews, since so few things are outstanding. However, Tessa & Bernard truly did provide us with an outstanding experience. And, as the title says, it was so good that ... well, I just booked our return trip. There is one note that people should be aware of: it's an older house, tucked into a valley. Given that, as you might expect, there's a bit of a smell of dampness to it. People with some breathing conditions may want to make sure you get the hypoallergenic pillows (available) and turn on the A/C to clear things out. It kinda comes with the territory. I wouldn't mention it except that I have members of my family who are sensitive to such things, so folks should know. That said, again: our experience was so wonderful, we're returning soon!

We love to go the the mountains to escape the summer heat. The Taylor house is a great place to land. Tessa and Bernard are great hosts. The location allows us a short drive to the park for a walk, a short trip into Banner Elk or Blowing Rock.

It was our 55th Wedding Anniversary and the Russos went out of their way to make it very special for us. We had a suite, a wonderful upgrade, and breakfast was delicious. Before we stayed at the Inn we had asked about places to eat for dinner, and Mrs Russo went spent some time arranging a reservation for us, so that the whole experience really exceeded our expectations. It was an anniversary we will remember.

The Taylor House Inn was a pleasant surprise. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The house was beautifully decorated with stunning artwork. The innkeepers were delightful and friendly, hailing from France and Italy. We enjoyed chatting with them about their amazing travels over a five star French breakfast of pastry and souflee. The overall experience felt like it could just as easily have been an inn in Switzerland. Loved it, and we would highly recommend the Taylor House and it's charming owners' hospitality to anyone seeking a romantic retreat.

Bernard and Tessa are the best hosts, they are friendly without invading your privacy. Very helpful with planning trips. The house is clean and comfortable and we loved the porch. The breakfast is a gourmet delight, something different every day. Delicious and filling, set us up for the day. We were there in early July for four days and we will defineatly come back if we can.

On December 26, 2010 I married the man of my dreams at the TAYLOR HOUSE INN! With only two weeks notice (and Christmas right around the corner!), Tessa thought of EVERYTHING and made it look easy. She and Bernard hosted our fairytale wedding and provided our family excellent accommodations. Every time we gather we long for her egg roulade! Bernard captured every step of the weekend beautifully in photos. I could not be more pleased, every element of our wedding and stay exceeded our dreams, and the snow was a bonus! Go stay with them and tell them 'hello'! Valle Curcis is beautiful, you won’t be disappointed! Seana Harrill

Tessa and Bernard, Thank you with all my heart for your open-arms hospitality and extraordinary wedding weekend for my daughter and family. We truly enjoyed every moment of time shared with you, Bernard, Guido and "little heart". You all feel like family! We will be back, for sure!

I stayed at the Taylor House Inn in early May with my 2 young daughters (6 and 4). The house was built in the early 1900's but it is very clean, comfortable, and doesn't smell like an old house. The room was comfortable and clean and we slept with the window open so we could hear the stream across the street. The best part of the stay is the Inn owners (Tessa and Bernard)...they really made us feel welcome and at home. Bernard even cut my youngest pancakes for her. :^)

My wife and I spent two nights at Taylor House Inn for her birthday. We used to come to Valle Crucis for several years, but never had the pleasure of staying here until now. My husband and I were traveling in the mountains with another couple and booked rooms at the Taylor House based on reviews and price. We had two large, bright, immaculate rooms with comfortable king beds. Tessa prepared a gourmet breakfast, and portions were more generous than those often served at B&B's. Because the inn is a bit off the beaten track, if you arrive after the dinner hour, as we did, you might want to stop at a restaurant in Boone or Blowing Rock before checking in. Note: judging from photo albums displayed in the living room, the Taylor House is a lovely place for a wedding.

On Monday, April 18th, my wife and I spent a wonderful day at the Taylor Inn to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary. The location could not have been more charming and the Innkeepers seemed, almost at once, like family. We were fortunate to be able to view every room and will be comfortable in any one of them when we return for another visit. The atmosphere seemed to lower our blood pressure by at least 30 points. Both Tessa and Bernard proved to be historians on the area and handled all of our inquiries with ease. Breakfast the following morning was five star. We look forward to opportunities to visit our wonderful hosts again.
5 on April 19, 2011
Upon arrival we discovered, we had been granted an upgrade to a larger room. The Inn is very clean and comfortable. Our breakfast on both days of our stay was wonderful. The Inn Keepers made our stay very comfortable. My husband and I are very laid-back; we enjoyed the way the inn keepers were friendly, helpful, accommodating, and not hoovering.

As a first time bed and breakfast guest, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. We were greeted warmly and promptly by Bernard, who upgraded our room for free. He provided dinner recommendations, maps, and even the weather report! We wanted for nothing during our stay. The room was spacious and clean, with luxurious bedding. I was surprised that there was no TV in the room, but what a small price to pay for an beautiful weekend in a beautiful area. We would definately stay again!

Several aspects of our trip were less than satisfactory but each night that we returned to the inn our spirits were lifted by the wonderful atmosphere. My wife and I skied all day at Beech Mountain and then stayed at the Taylor House Inn. For the money that we paid this was an excellent value. It was a weekday and we were the only ones there. We were upgraded to a very beautiful upstairs room with a private bath. The hosts had hot brownies and cocoa waiting for us and gave us several recommendations for local restaurants for dinner. The room was clean, the shower was hot, the bed was very comfortable. There is nothing really to complain about at this place. They cooked my wife's favorite, Eggs Benedict for breakfast. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Inn to anyone. It might be a different experience if it's crowded in peak season but for us it was a very pleasant getaway! The attitude of the hosts can make all the difference and they really couldn't be nicer.

My boyfriend and I chose this place because of all the amazing reviews and everything that everyone says is completely true. The couple who runs Taylor House Inn are genuinely kind people who really do just want you to have the best weekend possible. The breakfast was amazing! We felt like we were being treated like royalty. The location is great- far enough away from everything that you feel like you're at a getaway in the mountains, but close enough for a short drive to anywhere you want to go. I definitely recommend this place for everyone!

We will be back, and in the meantime we will tell all our friends about this wonderful Inn.

In our travels, my husband and I have stayed at some really good B&B's, but Taylor House Inn is our new favorite! With warm and gracious hosts Tessa and Bernard, in a lovely 100 year old farmhouse surrounded by trees and mountains, the THI is a revelation. We were celebrating our anniversary and found this inn, booked it and were delighted to find upon arrival that we were upgraded to a larger room. Fresh warm muffins awaited us, along with hot apple cider, and we enjoyed those while sitting on the expansive wraparound porch and amongst the beautiful scenery. The interiors of the house are filled with unbelievable artwork from the innkeeper's mother and daughter and it's as though you are staying in an art museum! The rooms are lovely, complete with stocked refrigerators, robes and Hershey kisses by the bed and the house itself, even at 100 years old, is very quiet. The breakfast was nothing short of spectacular, with the innkeeper's heritage proudly on display with a wonderful meal that would be at home in a fine restaurant. The THI is located a stone's throw from Boone and Blowing Rock, and is affordable elegance! We stayed at a fraction of the price of other inns in that area, and had an extraordinary time! Bernard and Tessa, it was wonderful and we'll be back shortly!

We were welcomed to this charming and comfortable B and B by the gracious proprietors Tessa and Bernard. We were made to feel at home immediately as Tessa showed us around the home. Lovely original artwork adorn the walls and the rooms were comfortable, neat as a pin and well stocked with all the amenities a guest might need. There is coffee, tea (a huge variety), hot cocoa available to guests almost all day. Breakfast was a delicious two course event. Tessa will claim that she's not a chef but her breakfasts both days were original and DELICIOUS. The proprietors' ease permeates their home as each day we visited and chatted quite comfortably with them and the other guests there. The B and B is centrally located and an absolute gem.

I came to Valle Crucis to run a half marathon. I booked the Taylor use Inn due to the close proximity to the race start & the rates & rooms looked appealing. Upon arriving my husband & I were greeted by Bernard. He was very charming & gracious and very fun to talk to. He helped make our stay very enjoyable. He & Tessa helped make us feel welcome & very comfortable right from the start. You don't always get that with B&B's. Not only did they accomadate my needs for the upcoming race they were interested in how the race turned out for me. Tessa prepared such wonderful breakfasts which my husband talked about for the rest of our stay! All of this in such a beautiful serene setting. I highly recommend the Taylor House Inn.

We had a wonderful time on our 2-night stay at the Taylor House Inn. Tessa and Bernard were very friendly and could not have been nicer. They made great recommendations for restaurants and a spa in the area. Free wifi was nice and they even put some chocolate covered strawberries in the room for my girlfriend's birthday which we were celebrating. I thought the room was a bit pricey but it was in line with other B&Bs in the area and it must be taken into account that it was move-in weekend at ASU in Boone so there was great demand for rooms in the area the weekend that we stayed there. All in all, it was a very nice weekend!

The Taylor House Inn was a really quite relaxing place to stay! The rooms were very nice and extremely clean. The bed was really comfortable and we enjoyed the rocking chairs on the front porch. The inn keepers were extremely friendly. The breakfast was very french which I am not so fond of personally, but I'm sure it would have been excellent for someone who likes a french breakfast. They did have a delightful homemade peach pastry that I really enjoyed. We would definately visit again!!! NOTE: If you do visit and wish to have a TV in your room make sure that you request a room with a TV.

We stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon. We stayed in the "Little Room," which was in it's own cottage separate from the main inn. It was perfect for us, very nicely decorated, with A/C, a mini fridge, and a big bathroom. Tessa and Bernard, the innkeepers, were very friendly and helpful. We had a great stay, enjoyed the area, and would definitely return!

We enjoyed our stay. It was our first visit back to the Inn since our daughter had chosen the Taylor House Inn as the site for her wedding. Everything was a wonderful as we remembered, and Tessa and Bernard were as welcoming as we had remembered them to be.

We stayed only one night and it was a very pleasant stay. The grounds are very nice and the Inn is decorated very nice and has a nice comfortable feel to it. Our room was nice, the only thing I would change is putting a lock on the sitting room part of the suite so other guests cannot enter from the hallway. Other than that it was a perfect visit. We needed a place to escape and rest and this was it!! The innkeepers were very nice and helpful also.

Two couples plus my husband and I traveled from Lexington Ky on a mystery trip (only the guys knew where we were going), and when we pulled into the driveway at the Taylor House Inn, we women were delighted. The house is wonderful, relaxing, and away from the maddening crowd. Tessa and Bernard are the delightful innkeepers, and genuinely seem to enjoy what they do. We sat outside on the huge front porch, and Tessa brought us some fruit and cheese to have with our wine before dinner. We were being pampered! The rooms have just recently been redone, and are ample with large bathrooms. The bed was very comfortable, and I slept like a log until time to get up to prepare for a run. Bernard suggested a couple running routes, and 3 of us took a run through a field which was very picturesque and had soft footing. Breakfast was ready when we returned. We were treated to coffee, grapefruit, orange and cranberry juices, quiche, fried potatoes, ham, and toast. A good way to start the day!. After breakfast, the men told us to pack as we were leaving and continuing on our mystery trip - I was somewhat disappointed because the Inn was such a delightful place to stay. I hope to return and spend more time at this Inn!!

This family reunion here at the Taylor House Inn was one of a kind. I've never met such wonderful and caring people before! Tessa and Bernard even helped us plan many family outings with their vass knowledge of the towns near by. The house was so warm and it felt just like home which was perfect for such an event! With their hospitality, the scenery, and the inviting warmth of the beds this has been, by far the best family reunion we have ever had! I can promise that we will be coming here for every family reunion that we have from now on.
5 on July 15, 2010
For our familly reunion this year, we choose the Taylor House Inn for the mountains, the surrounding, the peace... Being a large familly, we booked the whole inn for 5 days. We will cherish this one forever. The place is super. The surrounding so inviting, Tessa and Bernard went out of their way to make every moments count, pointing out some attractions for both adults and kids and making sure we were taken care of at all times. Relaxing and reconnecting together while watching the children play and run in the yard: Priceless, a little slice of heaven. We were in the Attic Suite.... Spacious, inviting , fresh flowers every day, and of course the grand children jumping on our bed in the morning. It was hard to part again with our familly, but also felt the same about the Taylor House Inn, Tessa and Bernard... Perfect vacation, Priceless memories.....

The Taylor House Inn is one of the most comfortable B&Bs we have ever encountered. Tessa and Bernard Russo are welcoming and attentive hosts. The food is excellent, the setting is beautiful, and the decor is welcoming. The artwork alone, however, is worth the visit. We cannot wait to visit again.

Stayed one night for a cycling race. I called all the B&B's in Valley Crucis and chose the Taylor House based on price and value. Other B&B's also recommended them. Everyone was very kind. Very peaceful, quiet setting in a wooded and secluded location. The other B&B's were on the main road and got much more traffic. I saw a couple of cars go by my whole stay. Pie, tea and coffee was sitting out when I arrived. There always was something out to snack on. Each room has it's own independent air conditioner, wifi worked well, beds were comfortable, towels were soft and scented. In the evening I sat out on the porch. I was there June 25 and the temp got down to 55 degrees. Very comfortable and cool nights. Great break from the high heat and humidity. I left the next morning before breakfast and the owners gave me a care package the night before. The owners were very kind and made me feel at home. They periodically asked if everything was meeting my expectations. The only thing missing was someone to share it with. Next year I will bring others.

We were part of the wedding party that stayed at the Taylor Inn. We were greeted by the owners Bernard and Tessa and found them to be a charming and gracious couple who provided the best service and accomodations. My wife and I experienced the beauty and charm of Boone, NC but it was nothing compared to this historic manor house. I beleive we enjoyed the inside beauty of this house as much as the Boone could provide. The means were nothing short of spectacular and very delicious. I highly recommned this B&B to anyone traveling to Boone. Enjoy the magic!
5 on June 30, 2010
The stay was wonderful and we were served a fantastic breakfast. I was riding in the bike race and the inn keepers had packed me a breakfast the night before since I would be cycling the next day during the breakfast time! They were wonderful hosts and the house is in a very peaceful and beautiful setting. I highly recommend the Taylor House Inn. I have stayed here twice and will be back. The peach ice tea and apple pie is terrific. The front porch is very large and relaxing. I can't say enough great things about this place.

Breakfast was amazing and the service was far better than ever expected. This experience has turned us into b&b lovers and cannot wait until we can book a room again! Thanks so much for the wonderful days we spent!

The Taylor House Inn is in a gorgeous mountain valley just a hop from Boone and Blowing Rock. We went for a walk after we checked in, and it was like being in a post card. We passed by farms and saw all kinds of animals. Our room was perfect and very relaxing. The French Innkeepers gave added European charm. The breakfast was amazing. Will go back for sure.

Tessa is one of the most talented chefs I have had to pleasure to be able to partake of her creations. Breakfast was elegant and more than enough to fill us up for a day of hiking. Bernard was galant in helping us with luggage and kept our coffee cups full! They were knowledgeable and entertaining sharing the history of the house and the community.

Our stay at Taylor House Inn melted away all the stress and frustration of our everyday lives. It was truly the most relaxing experience in the last 30 years. Bernard and Tessa were such gracious hosts and we are looking forward to returning ASAP, and we would certainly be glad to relieve them of their duties whenever they want to take a vacation. LOL
5 on February 15, 2010
We found that the Taylor House Inn had the best prices in the area, it even beat out the chain hotels. When we arrived they had upgraded our room to the second largest room in the house since it was our anniversary with no extra cost. The place is the cleanest place we've ever stayed at and they stayed on top of everything. Tessa makes a top of the class breakfeast each morning. We had forgotten to put in any requests, likes or dislikes and weren't sure what to expect. Each morning we were excited to see what was going to be served because the day before was so good. Very impressive ! Bernard and Tessa both have a very strong gift of hospitality, we're so,so happy we chose to stay at the Talyor House Inn. The rooms were all very beautiful and each one unique. The Valle Crusis area is definately the perfect spot to stay at, it's about 10-15 minutes depending on weather and traffic away from everything with a perfect view of the mountains. Very charming. We can't wait to be able to return !

Tessa & Bernard provide a luxury home away from home at their beautiful bed & breakfast. Gourmet breakfast, spotless clean bedrooms and dining room, world's most comfortable beds, late night snacks, and super friendly hosts. What more could you ask for. Our stay was perfect. We had an amazing time here... as soon as we walked in the door we found out from our gracious host that our room had been upgraded. The room was beautiful and breakfast was outstanding. Even my husband was full... which is quite an accomplishment. We enjoyed walking around the beautiful property and the anytime-you-wanted-it coffee/hot chocolate station that always had some yummy treat awaiting as well. The owners were so warm and friendly and made us feel right at home. It truly felt like they had known us forever. We will definitely be going back! It was a great price and well worth every penny.

5 on January 12, 2010
I have to say that I have stayed at B&B in Vermont, Maine, others in North Carolina, and the Taylor House was the best! The bed was soft, and heavenly, the rooms was clean, the linens and the towels had a fresh and wonderful smell to them. The breakfast was like eating at the 4 star restrauant, I told my friends at work how great the food was, and if that wasn't good enough, in the evening we had dessert waiting for us when we arrived again. It snowed and Bernard cleaned the snow off my car. I went to Blowing Rock and stopped to get information at the Vistiors station, and I told the two men that worked there about how great the Taylor House was, and that they should let other people know that asked about a place to stay. Bernard and Tessera are the BEST!

We stayed two nights and this was also the site of our sons' wedding. We had an intimate, stress free weekend. With the cooperation of the weather the venue was changed from the inside to the outside. Tessa and Bernard orchestrated , what seemed like effortlessly, all the outdoor preparations making the scene picture perfect! We felt treated like family and royalty at the same time. Tessa and Bernard opened their home to us and made us feel like we were home. They also pampered us with great food and attention to every detail. Waking up in the morning and raising the blinds and viewing the mountains was picturesque and relaxing. Then the aroma of fresh coffee and breakfast cooking lulled us into a peacfulness we haven't experienced in a long time. Well worth every penny.. Life is too short not to experience the hospitality and true warmth of this couple and their Inn!!

Our stay, quality of sleep, breakfasts, room comfortability , climate controls, scenic location and hospitality of the Inn Keepers were all simply unparalleled. Expectations were not only met but far exceeded by the Inn Keepers commitment to ensuring the best possible experience. It was immediately clear to me the first night that their high ratings were very well deserved. My husband and I stayed 3 nights and look very forward to staying there again the next time we're in the area. I don't think I could go back to "mainstream commercial lodging" in the High Country after this. We were made to feel very welcome and pampered. Truly exquisite.

We held our wedding at the Taylor House Inn on October 12, 2009 and were THRILLED with all the attention to detail that Tessa and Bernard provided. From the initial planning, the the tiniest of last minute details, they were amazing and provided our guests the best hospitality the south can offer! Our guest were made to feel welcome and right at home. The scenary of the B&B is beautiful and left a lasting memory for my husband and myself to cherish for a lifetime. We can't wait to revisit the Taylor House Inn many more times for anniversaries and special occasions. Thanks Bernard & Tessa for making our wedding day so special. We love you guys!

Don't believe all the hype about the Taylor House Inn. We have stayed there twice in the past year and both times we were not impressed and when we left we wished we would have stayed elsewhere. For starters the Inn keepers are not the most hospitable and sincere in the world. The leave you with the impression they are in it for the money more than the love of being an inn keeper. A bit arrogant they are. Secondly, don't bring your appetite, the portions are small and no second servings. On some days, there were no cookies at all the entire day in the foyer, and all the other days it was the same thing; toll house recipe chocolate chip cookies. The rooms are uncomfortable in the late spring, summer and early fall due to no air conditioning, old windows that are very hard to open, and cheap ceiling rans that are noisy. The rooms we stayed in both had big stains on the carpet and apointed with just enough cheap furnishings/fixtures to leave you unimpressed. The draining on the grounds is bad and was always mushy and damp with plenty of misquitos. The house is right on a main road, so choose your room carefully if you are a light sleeper. Overall the house is still in need of a lot of work to demand the price that they ask, throw in small portions of food and the stricktly business type attitude of the inn keepers and you have yourself a highly over rated B&B.

Stayed at the Taylor House Inn for a friend's wedding. Beautiful B&B. Great owners, great service. The room had a beautiful king sized bed, clean bathroom. We loved the front porch and could have sat on it for hours. Definitely plan to go back!

Our daughter chose the Taylor House Inn for the location of her outdoor wedding. Tessa and Bernard's flower gardens and beautiful home provided a colorful backdrop for the wedding ceremony and the photos. On the day of the wedding I was impressed and pleased to see windows being shined, the porch being swept, and carpets being vacuumed. This attention to detail showed me to what lengths Tessa and Bernard were willing to go to make it a perfect occasion. The first floor suite with parlor provided more than ample space for the bride, her attendants, and all of the wedding accouterments. My favorite room was the bright and cheerful dining room where Tessa served her scrumptious breakfasts. Tessa and Bernard were wonderful hosts and lent their expert help in unexpected and totally appreciated ways. I'd return to this beautiful B and B in this beautiful location in a heartbeat!
5 on July 16, 2009
The B&B is so beautiful, immaculate and clean. The rooms were large and comfortable. We had a delightful and sound sleep. When we left home it was 90 degrees, and by the time we reached this beautiful mountain escape, we were thrilled it was 20 degrees cooler. We slept with the windows open, the window sheers billowing in the breeze. I have never had a more rejuvenating sleep, hearing the relaxing babbling of the nearby brook in the background. We went out to explore the local area and it is gorgeous. Green, plush, quiet...we felt truly one with nature. There were so many great hiking trails, creeks and waterfalls right there in Valle Crucis. It was unbelievably relaxing and beautiful. I had never seen such beautiful scenery in person. And we loved visting Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock close by. Tessa and Bernard were so kind and wonderful. They made our stay truly perfect. They went above and beyond all expectation to accomodate us and make us feel right at home. The gourmet breakfasts they prepared were to die for! The location, the scenery, the weather, the owners, the food...this was a slice of heaven! We will make this our yearly getaway. From one to ten, this B&B is definitely a 20+. You WILL love it!

My new husband and I just got back from our honeymoon at the Taylor House and was absolutely blown away from the GREAT service and environment that we experienced! We stayed in the honeymoon (attic) suite, it was so comfortable and great for a cozy getaway from the rest of the world! Mr. and Mrs. Russo keep such a wonderful inn that you really don’t believe it till you see it. The breakfast was ready everyone morning when we woke up, everyday was also something different and delicious. The linens and beds were definitely the softest I’ve ever used and were changed every day as well as having the room cleaned every day. They were so friendly and also helped us every day to find something new to do during the days of our trip. Though the towns around the inn are quaint and quiet there was so many things to do within miles of the inn. The inn was so great though that you almost want to just hang out around the house all day with its spectacular mountain view across the street and quiet, homely environment.

The only way to know how fantastic The Taylor House Inn is, is to stay there. Everything, from location, service, friendliness, charm, food, etc. was perfect. The food, that's a story in and of itself. A breakfast in the finest dining establishments around the world would pale next to Tessa’s. We left The Taylor House Inn feeling more like we had visited old friends Bernard and Tessa than merely met the innkeepers. If you travel anywhere remotely close to Valle Crucis, NC The Taylor House is a must-stay place. Better yet, make it your destination.

Every room in the house was beautiful, the two smaller rooms outside the house were not as elegant or as nice as the ones inside the house, but it was perfect for us because we are on a low budget, could get a quaint little place all to ourselves and not even have to worry about staying up late past everyone else in the house, etc. Breakfast was phenomenal, the art was beautiful inside the house, and the couple was helpful in anything we needed to find while we were there! It truly was the perfect getaway. :)

We stayed in the Taylor Suite on the first floor. It is very spacious with a living room size sitting room and working fireplace. The entire house is very European...no chintz or anitmacassars. The spaces are open and uncluttered. The large, wrap around porch offers views of the beautiful lawns and outbuildings. The food, of course, is perfect. The taylor house is a serene, gracious, European experience in the NC mountains.

We not only had a wonderful stay, breakfast was excellent and Bernard arranged for there to be snow on the ground for us. A perfect touch to a wonderful weekend. Thank you Bernard

My husband and I visited Taylor House Inn as one of our honeymoon destinations, and we loved it! It was so peaceful, romantic, and relaxing. The food was delicious (the chef is French...need I say more?), and the bed was incredibly comfortable. What a perfect weekend getaway! We can't wait to go back!

We chose Taylor House Inn to celebrate our daughter's 30th birthday. She had never had the opportunity to stay at a B&B... and this was a PERFECT choice! Tessa and Bernard were very gracious hosts; the Taylor House is immaculate; it was tastefully decorated for the autumn season; the entire experience was delightful! We particularly enjoyed the large pieces of artwork that were created by Tessa's mother and Tessa and Bernard's daughter. They also recommended a terrific local restaurant where we were greeted at the door (because Tessa had called ahead! - what a special touch!) We will definately return.

The Taylor Inn was the perfect end to a day sampling the treasures of the Blueridge Parkway. The accomodations are excellent and the hospitality truely warm and inviting. Not only was Bernard knowledgable and helpful with local entertainment and cuisine, he helped with the reservations.

My husband set up a getaway trip to Boone for the two of us. He had problems finding a place to stay that would accept a one-night stay, but the folks at Taylor House Inn gladly accepted us as their guests and took very good care of us. We stayed in the "Honeymoon Suite" and it was very nice. I would recommend the Taylor House Inn to anyone who wanted to get away. Thank you, Tessa and Bernard, for your warm welcome and hospitality! My wife and I had a great time in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. The hosts were wonderful and the breakfasts were delicious. The rooms were spacious and clean. Our stay was very enjoyable. My only compliants were the temperature in the room was inconsistent, there was little hot water upstairs, and our towels were taken away the 2nd day with no replacements.

I stayed at the Taylor House this fall for one night. The location is prime for touring Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain and driving the Viaduct on the Blue Ridge Pkwy. The guest rooms are lovely, the service is superb, the cleanliness is tops, the dining is delicious, and the cost per night is a little steep compared to what you get with other B&B's. The dining and living room areas are very beautiful. I would definitely stay there again.

Having moved from Banner Elk to Arizona, we do not see our children often, so enjoyed having them as our guests at Taylor House, a great experience, home away from home. Bernard and Tessa were wonderful hosts. Breakfast was very good. Much better then being in a motel. Comfy beds and the living room gave us a great space to be together.

Taylor House Inn was the perfect setting for our Mother/Daughter (and future Granddaughter) Weekend. Bernard and Tessa were so gracious and accomodating, we really felt at home. The breakfast was elegant and delicious and always left us satisfied. Overall, the Inn was more than we could have asked for. The only slight flaw was the absence of television in the house. I understand that this is personal preference and it was not a detrement to our fun, just an unexpected surprise. Thanks again, April & Rebecca (& Madeline)

The Taylor House Inn is a very charming and relaxing get away. After my first of many stays at the inn, I felt that Bernard and Tessa were family. They offer first class hospitality and a delicious breakfast that will Knock your socks off! I highly recommend staying at the Taylor house. We came there for our honeymoon and stayed in the Squire Taylor suite. The grounds are beautiful, the breakfasts were outstanding. The Russo's were great hosts. The big front porch was a wonderful place to relax, and we saw a herd of deer in the pasture across the street. At night it was so peaceful. I'd highly recommend it and we'll go back again. They were nice enough to upgrade us since we were the only guests at the time, so we got an even nicer deal since we originally booked the least expensive room.

My husband stayed at the Taylor House Inn for the first time and it will definitely not be our last visit there! The best part of the Inn is meeting Tessa and Bernard, the Inn Keepers! They are so warm and hospitable, genuinely so! My husband raved about the breakfast for days afterward too! We stayed in Aunt Doris' Room upstairs in the back. It was very nice and had everything we needed, but nothing else to clutter the space and close you in. All of the rooms looked that way to us! The Inn has a connection with a Porsche car club and because we stayed there, we were able to rent a Porsche for the day! It was definitely worth it!! We look forward to returning to the Taylor House Inn again soon!

In the last 25 years we have traveled all over the U.S. and western Canada and we have stayed in B&Bs 90% of the time. We rate the Taylor House as one of the best. Also Tessa is absolutely the very best innkeeper we have met.

Very peaceful, secluded feel. Tons of trees and chirping birds, and the soothing sound of running water from the nearby stream. Look off front porch onto lush farmland and rolling mtns. Sleeping with windows opened and hearing mtn night sounds was the best part! Staff were SO attentive and gracious. Very conveniently located close to Boone and Banner Elk. Will DEFINITELY stay at again!

My husband and I stayed in the Flower Cottage this weekend and found it to be charming - very clean and comfortable. The innkeepers, Tessa and Bernard, were very friendly and provided excellent service - especially enjoyed the delicious breakfasts! Special attention is given to details - both in the food and accommodations. We were even treated to fresh flowers in our room each day! We hope to visit there again soon.

I like the use of space at The Taylor House Inn. It has several rooms in the house itself and a few in satellite sheds. We stayed in the attic, which has its own small balcony and bathroom. We felt tucked away in a setting that's already makes you feel apart from the modern world. These people are really nice. And they offer a great breakfast. They put out fresh cookies and tea biscuits everyday.

The Taylor House Inn is a beautiful place to hold a wedding. Staying there with all my family was so much fun! The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. It felt like being at home only nicer and with better service. The delicious breakfast meals were substantial and often prepared with ingredients right from the garden. Innkeepers Tessa and Bernard were very responsive to any and all requests.

It was apparent that every guest was enjoying themselves by the friendly conversations going on in the living room and at breakfast. I visited the Taylor House while on my BMW motorcycle during a tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is my second time staying at the Taylor House. It is one of my favorites! It's easy to understand why when you experience the wonderful hospitality and great food surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscapes in the South East. It's location to the Parkway makes it a favorite too. The staff certainly understand the importance of make the guest feel "right at home." They attend to every detail to make certain the stay is everything you would expect from a beautiful Inn. The sounds the creek rolling over the rocks can be enjoyed from the front porch. The rolling pastures across the fence are a sight to behold. It's a short walk to the famous, " Mast Country Store," a favorite to all who like to return to the past and enjoy hard rock candy, country hams, and your favorite soft drink from yesteryear. It's all part of the adventure of staying at the Taylor House Inn Bed and Breakfast. So, what are you waiting for...make your reservation and head to the mountains of North Carolina. Tell the staff I said "Hello." I'll see you in for the Fall Leaf Season! Dale Myers, Macon, Ga.

Tesse and Bernard. I want to thank you for making our "Nascar" weekend experience, the best! Staying at your Inn was the perfect solution. What a delight you are as hosts. Every detail of our stay was focused on our needs and comforts. Our rooms were warmly decorated. Our beds, dressed with cozy down and quilts that just hugged us when we walked into our rooms. I must tell you we slept like babies and removing ourselves from the bed in the morning was tough. However, your "full breakfast" (and I mean full), made the morning something to remember! Wow, what a delight to have someone care so much to prepare dishes that are so lovingly and beautifully prepared. We had a very busy day ahead of us and your "full breakfast" gave us the start we needed. We were not hungry until mid afternoon! Again I can't thank you enough for all the efforts you made in making sure our stay was pleasant. We look forward to coming back to see you again. Staying at the Taylor House is a retreat and an awakening to what is important in life.

I spent two nights in January with my son, and we skied at nearby Appalachian Mountain. We made our reservations at the last minute and this was the only room we could find. What a treasure. Tessa and Bernard have a gem of a property. Tessa prepares a 3 course gourmet breakfast that is one the best I have had anywhere. It is served in a beautiful dinning room on on china. The breakfast alone is worth the trip. The room we stayed in overlooked the front of the property and was very spacious, comfortable, and clean. Bernard waited up for us we arrived very late. He was very gracious and welcoming. I can wait to go back with my wife. This property is perfect for a romantic weekend in the mountains, or family gatherings. Boone NC is only a few miles away so the property is very convenient to many attractions and areas of interest.

The room was amazing with crisp, white linens, a comfortable bed and personal touches that made me feel like a special honored guest; the food was delicious; and the time spent with Tessa and Bernard, made me feel like I was home (but with better service and better food). My husband and I just arrived back home today after a wonderful weekend at the Taylor House Inn. It certainly was not our first time at an inn but we have never been as impressed. The innkeepers, Bernard and Tessa are both warm and friendly and make you feel right at home. Tessa's flair for making the breakfasts not only a work of art but wonderfully tasting. She is a gem! Our room was bright and sunny and probably the cleanest room we have ever stayed in. The weather for our weekend was cold and crisp, but invorgorating, as was our stay. We look forward to our next visit and to seeing these very lovely people again.

Mr. Russo carried our bags to our room. How nice this was, considering that we usually have to carry everything ourselves. Our room was clean and neat. The bed linens were top of the line. The bathroom floor was so clean that we could actually have eaten from it. There was no TV or phone in the room, but this was not a bad thing. In fact, we were glad to get away from the obtrusiveness of always being "in touch." (I hope the Russos never put TVs or phones in the rooms...) Our breakfast the next morning was so nice, so European. The way it was presented was almost a work of art...no bacon and eggs, but link sausage, quiche, and a wonderful stuffed tomato. The coffee was the best I've had in a long time. Our stay was more pleasant than we expected, and we will definitely come back. Thank you, Tessa and Bernard...

We wanted to thank you for the tremendous part you played in making Rich and Kathryn's wedding weekend so perfect. From our first meeting with you, we felt comfortable and totally at ease. We appreciate the hours you spent just talking with us and answering the myriad of questions we seemed to throw at you. Your organization and efficiency always amazed us--every phone call and e-mail promptly returned. The information you were able to provide about wedding vendors in the area was indispensable. Your honest opinions about caterers, bakers, florists, shuttle services, rentals, etc. helped us make the right choices for our budget. Bernard, you were so accommodating. We appreciate your willingness to share tools and help with extension cords. You were right there to lend a hand with anything! Tessa, you made all of us feel "at home." Our wedding guests commented over and over about the delicious breakfasts and snacks, the fresh flowers, the beautiful rooms, and comfortable beds! You made sure we had anything that we needed. Without a doubt, you were the ideal host and hostess, and The Taylor House Inn was the ideal setting for our daughter's wedding. Your warmth, kindness, and generosity will never be forgotten.

This is a lovely, quaint inn nestled in a mountain setting with overhanging trees. The rooms are spacious and well decorated. Fresh flowers are in every room as well as tucked into the napkin at each breakfast setting. Warm, gracious hosts respond quickly to questions and needs, seeking to accommodate. The breakfast was delicious and quickly served. The landscaping provided a fall setting with pumpkins, cornstalks, and fall potted plants to create a warm welcome from the first glance. The warmth continued inside as a selection of teas, coffee, and cookies greeted the guest. This old home has been carefully preserved and welcomes guests with the Southern open door.

My boyfriend and I spent a weekend recently at the Taylor House Inn. It was such a relaxing, peaceful place. You could spend hours on the front porch in a swing or rocking chair and never feel the need to venture far. But, the host gave us many local tips and we enjoyed a blue grass band at the general store, some nice hikes, and I took a wonderful walk in the park with the owners, Bernard and Tessa, while my boyfriend worked one evening. The food was spectacular! This place is such a find. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Taylor House Inn to celebrate our 46th Wedding Anniversary. The two nights were enjoyable beyond our expectations. It was our first time at a Bed and Breakfast. It will not be our last!

Let me start by saying that we will be returning to the Taylor House again and again. I know that fellow inn travelers have high expectations in what they consider to be a top inn. For us it is a quiet environment that gives us privacy, restrained elegance in the surroundings and a level of service that leaves you pampered and wanting more. Tessa and Bernard Russo, the innkeepers at Taylor House are the perfect hosts, amiable, knowledgeable and are there when you need them. In the busy Boone / Blowing Rock area Taylor House is the perfect counterpoint to a busy day. We recommend it highly.

Really enjoyed my stay at Taylor house this weekend. The place is as lovely as I remembered it to be. We stayed in the Flower Cottage in back of the main house and enjoyed the privacy and quietness of being back there alone. Thanks again Tess and Bernard

Very lovely and affordable B&B and well cared for by it's new owners. Tessa and Bernard are fascinating to talk with, are very attentive to all your needs and are more than willing to help in arranging activities such as golfing, white-water rafting, etc. They did not hesitate to phone a winery and schedule a tour and tasting for us. I would definitely stay at the Taylor House in the future.

Upon arrival at Taylor House, it was evident that the innkeepers cared about their guests. A quiet retreat to celebrate our 33rd anniversary with no TV or telephones, how wonderful. Bountiful breakfasts were served with flair. The inn is located in a quiet valley with incomparable mountain scenery. A perfect place to get away as a couple.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Taylor House Inn. The Inn was beautiful, quiet, and relaxing. Tessa had chocolate covered strawberries in our refrigerator as an anniversary gift, and our every need was attended to... Everyone deserves a night at the Taylor House Inn-treat yourself, you won't be disappointed!

This inn was an unknown to us and we were plesantly surprised. The inn is lovely and the innkeepers are a charming pair. They were attentive to our every need, and made several suggestions that made our visit to the area more interesting. The inn was very clean and the food was very good. It is our hope that as these new innkeepers settle into their new endeavor they will continue to improve an old inn. From everything we saw, and from the welcome we received, we will be returning to the Taylor House Inn again and again.

If you are looking for a true getaway that is as close to perfect as you can get, this is the place for you. The view from the porch is fantastic giving you the impression that you a in the country even though Boone and Blowing Rock are just short drives away. Our suite was large, full of light and very comfortable. The breakfast was a gourmet treat--not just a hum drum eggs and bacon. We have stayed in numerous bed and breakfasts, and the owners here made us feel like part of their family. The personal touch added so much to our visit. We didn't want to leave!
