1898 Queen Anne in Asheville's National Historic District of Montford. The inn is within walking distance to downtown Asheville, & minutes from the Biltmore Estate and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The home sits on a half acre park like setting with flower gardens, and a gently sloping lawn. Sumptuous breakfasts are served by candlelight each morning. In addition to the five guest rooms, there are two parlors, a formal dining room, an inglenook with fireplace, and a large and beautiful foyer. Each room is uniquely furnished with antiques, Persian rugs, and unique art. The high embossed ceilings, four fireplaces, original golden oak, and the classic leaded and stained glass windows all serve to create an enchanting atmosphere.

The Lion and the Rose has everything one can want for, class, charm and the best breakfast ever at the most beautifully set table. One night was not enough and we hope to return some day to take advantage of the pleasant living area, books to read and delicious chocolates all over the place.

We stayed at the Lion and the Rose in Asheville at New Years, and it was so nice. The place is beautiful inside and out, but it was very special during the holiday season. Its a great value, and seems more reasonably priced than some of the other inns. The innkeepers are great and so is the gourmet breakfast. We couldnt have asked for a better place to stay!

My husband and I stayed at the inn in November. The inn is absolutely beautiful. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. We had a sitting area that we both enjoyed. We were able to watch a few movies and relax. The inn has many amenities that I have not seen in other places. My favorite is their pantry area where they have complimentary water, soft drinks, coffee tea, and some sweet treats. The service was excellent. I will recommend this inn to others that come visit Asheville.

I can't imagine a more satisfying B&B experience. Beautiful and spacious home with a large porch and comfortable rooms. In addition to the gourmet breakfasts, Jim and Linda offer a frig full of drinks, all kinds of snack and homemade cookies. They are wonderful hosts in every respect, even bringing coffee to your room in the morning. We look forward to a return visit with them.

My husband and I have enjoyed a nearly annual trip to Asheville to visit friends and the Biltmore Estate, and especially enjoy the Montford B&B's. The Lion & Rose is in a convenient location and the gardens are highly impressive compared to many Asheville B&B's. The owners were gracious, and sizable breakfast was worth its weight in gold! We would both highly recommend The Lion & Rose as a perfect taste of Asheville.

Our room was nice. The breakfasts were large and tasty. Jim and Linda were friendly and made good restaurant suggestions. The best part about this inn is its convenience to everything we wanted to do in Asheville! We recommend the Lion and the Rose as a great "home base" for anyone touring the Biltmore House and shopping/dining/touring Asheville. The visitor center is within walking distance!

Used the B&B as a base to visit Biltmore. Great Jamaican style restaurant just down the road. Rooms a little smaller than expected. Nice historic district.

Lion and the Rose embraced us in the most wonderful way! Our room was large, yet cozy, with a gas fireplace and most comfortable king bed. Our hosts provided cheerful and gracious service, with a very generous breakfast in a wonderfully appointed and elegant dining room. We are eager to return, next time bringing family and friends to share in this terrific Five-Star experience. Edgar F. Heiskell, III, Charleston, W.Va.

My husband and I stayed at the Inn in February, 2009. We have stayed in many bed and breakfasts, and this Inn exceeded our expectations! Jimmy and Linda gave us wonderful recommendations for local restaurants, and Jimmy's breakfasts were beautifully presented and yummy!!! The Inn is immaculate and beautifully decorated--a great value, and we highly recommend it!

This is one of our most popular rooms located in the Northwest corner of the second floor. It has a silk upholstered queen bed, beautiful pine floors, and warm beige hand-plastered walls. Antique furnishings are complimented by beautiful art work and luxurious bed linens. The bathroom is a generous size, as it was original to the house and has been modernized with a shower.
This is the largest room on the second floor and has a magnificent antique tiger oak bed with a high back and footboard and matching dresser. It has a gas fireplace, custom painted walls in soft gray, tasteful furnishings and art. The sitting area set in a bay window overlooking the front lawn, has a single mahogany day bed that can be used for seating while watching TV or enjoying the view. Upon request, this bed can be made up to sleep a second or a third person. An adjoining door can be opened for two couples to share the sitting area with the Margaret-Grace Room. The private bath has a newly tiled shower. The Marion Hall Room was the Master Bedroom throughout the years the house was a single family home.
This beautiful and romantic room is in a quiet corner of the second floor. The bed is a gorgeous, hand carved Biltmore heritage canopied four poster queen, with draperies made in England. The sitting area with comfortable upholstered chairs make this a spacious and comfortable place for reading or relaxing after a long day of touring. The bath has a tub-shower combination.
