The Television was a new purchase but we have the same size television in three of our rooms and we have not had prior complaints. No, it is not a big screen but we felt it was more then sufficient. We will consider this unhappy guest opinion. The guest did not mention a problem with the DVD player and we were not aware of a problem until after their departure. If they had mentioned there was a problem, it would have been corrected immediately. We can’t fix the problem if you don’t mention it while you’re here. Most of the time when guest make us aware of a problem with the television or DVD player, it is operator error.
We have many guests who are experienced Bed and Breakfast travelers who rave about our home, breakfast and services. We strive to make every guests stay wonderful and exceed their expectations but no matter how hard we try, we cannot please everyone and some just can not be pleased no matter what. We serve a three-course gourmet breakfast each morning with the highest quality of ingredients and breakfast meats with the entrée, Home made breakfast breads and always-fresh fruit. We even mix our own organic muesli cereal and cater to every dietary restriction. Every guest is offered seconds and many ask for our recipes. That speaks volume to us. Our prices are the most reasonable of all the inn and hotels and the best quality in Asheville. I am sorry this guest did not give us an opportunity to address their concerns.

I am astounded and I just cannot imagine that any guest who slept in any of our rooms would not have a WONDERFUL nights sleep. We actually do sleep in our rooms occasionally just to make sure all the rooms are comfortable. I can honestly say this room has a wonderful mattress. Having exceptional quality mattress in all our rooms is essential to our business. The Grove Park Room is a very popular room and every single person who has been in the Grove Park Room has raved about the mattress as all our guests do in every room. Every morning I make it a point to ask each of our guests if they slept well. I always hear, it was the best night’s sleep they have ever had. If I were staying at an inn or hotel and did not sleep well because of a bad mattress… you can bet your bottom dollar I would let the owners / managers know about it. I would have preferred this person to have been honest and told me if they did not sleep well. Why did they not request another room? Ever guest leaves smiling and saying they cannot wait to return. I do know for fact the mattress is not hard and does not poke you. I am afraid I have a hard time considering this legitimate. I will be sleeping in this bed as soon as it is available.

I am so sorry this guest was not pleased with our Gourmet Breakfast. We are very fortunate that 99.9% of our guests love our breakfast and find our home extremely comfortable. While I know we can not please every guest and I try not to take it personal… I just can not understand how someone can leave our dinning room table hungry. I have to think they did not hear us the many times we offered all our guest seconds. Every item we make is home made so nothing from a box or mix. Our breakfast breads, cookie, bars and cakes are amazingly delicious and home made. The fruit is fresh and prepared each morning. I do not consider any of our breakfast something the average person would prepare at home. We always ask each guest if everything was ok, if they are full and if they would like seconds. I know most bed and breakfast do not offer seconds, cater to special diets or serve breakfast meat. My mother never allowed a guest to leave our home hungry and we follow the same southern traditions. We always serve breakfast meat and I would have thought two pieces would have been considered sufficient starters. We are always pleased to offer seconds to all guest, early departure breakfast or even accommodate those who are accustom to eating early. I would be interested in hearing their opinion again after they have experienced other Bed and Breakfast.

We always appreciate reviews from our guest and go to great lengths to make sure each guest have a pleasant stay. We have NEVER had a complaint regarding our breakfast or the portions. Actually most plates are returned to the kitchen with a lot of food left our guest plates. We often have guests who say request a half portion due to our portion size. We serve a full three course breakfast which consists of home made bread, a fresh fruit dish and finish with the main entrée which always consist of breakfast meats (which many Inn’s do not serve). We offer alternatives to our guest who are vegans, vegetarians, lactose intolerant, glutton free or diabetic. An organic Muesli and Raisin Brand cereal, milk, almond milk, soy milk and juice is put out on the breakfast bar about 7:30 or 8:00 a.m. each morning. I do not understand how anyone could possibly leave our table still hungry. Our breakfast is started with fresh ground organic Sumatra coffee out at 7:30 A.M. every morning. Hot tea, coco, coffee pods, soda’s, reverse osmosis water, granola bars and Biscotti’s are available 24 hours a day not to mention our home made cookie, bars and cakes that are put out around 3:00 each day. We do allow guest to seat for breakfast anytime between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m. We find most guest are on holiday and do not want to get up early. For guests who tell us they need to leave before breakfast for a meeting or just to get on the road and we are always happy to prepare and serve fresh fruit, home made bread, cereal milk and coffee prior to their departure. I am sorry that this guest did not tell us they did not have enough to eat or that they needed to eat earlier so they could leave for a tour.

We are always pleased to accommodate all our guest needs... what ever the request. When booking a reservation by phone or on line we ask all guests about food allergies or other dietary restrictions. If some one tells us they do not eat meat, which was the response from this guest, then I always ask if they eat turkey bacon, soy sausage or tofu. I was told soy sausage would be wonderful. So we prepared a wonderful soy sausage which is one of our personal favorites. If the guest comment is they are vegetarian, vegan, gelatos intolerance, no seeds or nuts then we always ask more questions to find out if they eat eggs, cheese, milk and exactly what they can eat. We will then plan, shop and prepare special dishes for that guest's dietary restrictions. We ALWAYS keep soy milk, almond milk,1% and whole milk, gluten free oat meal, home made organic muesli, gluten free breads and muffins, turkey bacon, soy sausage, tofu, organic coffee regular and decaffeinated and a variety of organic teas at the Inn just for our guest. If you do not tell your innkeepers what you can or do not eat then we can't possibly prepare for your dietary restrictions. LaDonna does not eat meat and has dietary restrictions due to prior health issues so we understand and always try to accommodate all our guest needs and desires. I am so sorry this guest did not tell us she was vegetarian and only stated she did not eat meat. But if I remember correctly they ate every thing we prepared and told us how wonderful it was. Please let your innkeepers know your special needs so the Innkeeper can prepare especially for you and you will feel pampered, spoiled and have a memorable time. This is our desire and I am sure the desire of all Innkeepers
Thank You
