We were only able to spend one night in this beautiful and very unique spot. However, we cetainly hope to return. The location is beautiful, and the casa is quite nice and very interesting. Everything was excellent. Good breakfast and comfortable room. Innkeeper was very nice and we thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay!

The Casa is located in a beautiful, isolated area. The quietness and solitude is intoxicating. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Guests have private rooms and baths, but have access to several beautiful rooms within the main house including the kitchen, library, and a large common room with a fireplace. The views are outstanding...the service is excellent. There is a beautiful courtyard and patio with a great mountain view. An outstanding and unique inn that we hope to return to soon!

This is a magnificent B&B. The rooms and other furnishings are like a museum. The bronze works in the rooms are to behold. It sure is tucked away near the mountains. You must be buzzed in the front gate on your arrival and then given a code for furture returns during your stay. Breakfast was wonderful and the famous St. James restaurant is only a few miles away.. Truly a lovely place to stay.

We stayed at the Casa del Gavilan for 2 nights. The rooms and house are lovely and full of interesting historic photos and information on the area. Our hostess was very nice and we enjoyed sitting with her in the late afternoon on the patio. The setting is amazing with the mountains as a backdrop. Wildflowers, birds, deer and antelope all added to a magical feel.

My niece and I stayed here to experience a place off the beaten path and with New Mexico charm. The inn lived up to expectations - Very comfortable, nicely designed, antique atmosphere, and nice innkeeper. I would stay here again, for sure, and highly recommend it if you are looking for a unique place in the countryside.

I have stayed many times at the Casa del Gavilan, and its effect on me has always been civilizing. It helps to know about and like Philmont Scout Ranch, which is very near by and whose history is entwined with the Casa's. Enjoying a glass of wine in the courtyard while watching the sun set over the Tooth of Time is a stirring experience. Having slept many times in Philmont's backcountry, in the storms and lightening and heat, I am thrilled at the Casa's proximity to those memories, while also keeping me at a safe distance. A fine place.

Our favorite place to stay when we visit Northern New Mexico. The staff makes you feel welcomed and tend to your needs. The food is amazing and they are able to handle dietary restrictions easily. The rooms are charming and comfortable. The views are stunning, and the courtyard is the perfect place to see the mountains and enjoy your first cup of coffee.
