Inn Details

Welcome to Whitebriar Bed and Breakfast located in Edgewater Park, New Jersey. The Whitebriar Complex includes two historic dwellings across the street from each other known as Dunk’s Ferry Inn at Whitebriar and Historic Whitebriar Bed & Breakfast Inn. It also includes a carriage house next to Dunk’s Ferry Inn at Whitebriar. The name “Whitebriar” is a result of our first acquisition being a 307 year old Quaker Salt Box style white Stucco home, which at some time in history had briar patches in the rear of the building.

We also have two other Bed and Breakfast Inn’s located within a three block radius: Woodrow Wilson’s Sanctuary Bed and Breakfast and The Market Gunner’s Inn. Ask for a tour of all the Historic dwellings that make up our complex and a $10 per person reservation at your convenience will be made. Children always welcome at $5.

All of our facilities are filled with antique furnishings, collectibles and oriental rugs to make you feel at home. We always say, “It is like visiting Grand Mom, but leaving the relatives at home!” We are clean, safe, and quiet located in a rural setting on County Road #630 (Cooper Street) at the edge of town. We have early snow plowing by the county, easy access from Route #130 going east, and the light rail going west.

The “REVOLUTIONARY WAR – 1776 – Martha & George Washington Room” (first floor behind kitchen at back of house) is $125 per night for two persons.

It has a mahogany full size bed and is great for those who wish not to do steps. The bathroom is located just steps across the kitchen. A collection of antique liquor decanters complete the colonial theme. A corner cabinet of antique stoneware, crystal, and European figured decanters compliment the matching federal mirrors. A soft chair nestled around a small tea table, focus on the oriental rugs and lace curtains adorned with red rose cascades.
The IRISH ROSE ROOM (second floor, side) is $125 per night for two persons.

The room contains a double bed, collectible set of dressing tables, bureaus and furnishing brought from the “Moore” family Castle in Leosche, Ireland. The owner’s paternal family relative, Malliachia O’Moore was the last high king of Ireland. It is a large airy pink room with oriental rugs and a rose lamp that was hand painted by the paternal grand mother. The lamp is festooned with pale colors to compliment the pink wall covering. The bathroom is across the hall.
The WOODSMEN ROOM (second floor, side of house) is our smallest room and is $85 for two persons.

This room was named after my father, Richard Lokan, who was instrumental in bringing a truck load of crated wild turkeys back from Florida to replenish the New Jersey extinct population. The room is decorated with awards he won from the Governor, as well as his duck mounts, antique fishing poles, and collections of 50 years of hunting licenses.

The “Turn of the Last Century” cast iron full sized bed is pushed to one wall, to show off our great-grand-mother’s hand hooked “mauve” rugs. The hand carved “buffalo” and “goat” Indian pipes were made for my father. This room is next to the bathroom.
