My girlfriend and I had a mid-week getaway at Captain Mey's. The house and room were lovely, and the staff were very friendly. The house had a wonderful old feel and history to it, and the room was very clean. We were however disappointed by breakfast. It being a "bed and breakfast," we expected more breakfast food staples, like scrambled eggs, fruit and a meat of some kind. The breakfast consisted of sliced bread, muffins, bagels, hard boiled eggs, and small boxed cereal. Further, the provided milk decanter was empty by the time we arrived, and we were nearly done with everything else before we found someone who could get us more; a wait of at least 15 minutes. We both felt the breakfast offering was disappointing, but possibly the specifics of what would be offered were advertised somewhere and we simply missed it.

This was our first B&B experience and my wife and I were very pleased! This B&B is in a great location and a great value for a peak season. All the staff at Captain Mey's were very hospitable to make our stay a pleasant one. While the breakfast selection was varied, a few more warm meal options would have been nice choice. Nonetheless, I would stay at Captain Mey's in a heartbeat on my next visit.

A lovely Victorian Inn that makes you feel that you have taken a little step back in time, with availability to all modern necessities. A very friendly, clean and relaxing Inn; not to mention easy access to the beach and shopping. Thank you Rita for a wonderful time! We can't wait to return.

We just stayed at Captain Mey's Inn on July 24. The owner Rita was very friendly and welcoming. The inn is so comfortable and spotless. Our room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. Every day it was cleaned to perfection. I loved the freshly baked muffins at the continental breakfast. The breakfast was a little more informal than some B&B's but that suited our vacation style. It was no less elegant. We will definitely return on our next trip to Cape May.

We just stayed at the Captain Meys B&B for the 4th time. We were greeted by the Innkeeper Rita. Our Room (Peter Stuyvesant) was not yet ready but we were early. Rita invited us to use all the facilities and leave our bags there. There is a large bathroom with shower as well as an outside shower for use after the beach. Snacks, juices and hot beverages are available all of the time. We walked for a while then returned to room. It was clean and comfortable as always. This is not a typical B&B so there is not a formal sit down breakfast. In the morning (9:00) there are bagels, fresh baked muffins, coffee and juice everything that makes a great continental breakfast. The dining room is set up with placemats and silverware and is a very comfortable area to chat with other guests. This B&B offers everything at a very affordable price.Hopefully we will get back in August for another enjoyable stay. Thanks to Rita and the wonderful staff. Frank and Donna

Our second visit to Captain Mey's, and just as enjoyable as the first. Lovely rooms, tasty breakfast, friendly staff. Love that you get full use of the downstairs after checkout, allowing a quick shower after going to the beach with their chairs and towels, sit on the porch and people watch, or grab a cup of coffee or tea. You are welcome until you are ready to head home. Great location, near beach and Washington Street Mall. We will be back. Thanks for a lovely holiday! Steve and Debbie

We've been to Cape May many times over the years and this was our first stay at Captain Mey's. It is a beautiful B&B in an outstanding location - 1 block to the Washington Mall shopping area, 2 blocks to the beach - literally in the center of it all. The large porch has enough tables and chairs to accomodate 4 or 5 couples for breakfast, relaxing, or just people watching. The foyer, parlor, and dining room on the first floor are nicely decorated and very inviting. We stayed in the Willem the Silent room on the 2nd floor. It was very comfortable but a bit small, particularly the bathroom and stall shower. Rita was an extremely gracious and helpful host. The breakfast is more than adequate but is a serve yourself continental style, not a sit-down, hot breakfast like some other B&Bs. This was fine as it doesn't tie you to a specific seating time and there was a large variety of offerings. All in all it was a great 3 days in celebration of our anniversary.

A first glance at the large front porch with its deep awnings, colorful, full flower-boxes lining its rail, and white wicker rockers inviting us in, we had high expectations of Captain Meys with such a charming beginning. No waiting for our room, and we were pleased to see the wallpaper dotted with large Victorian roses and the calming tans of the bedroom. A full bath with amenities including hairdryer, frgrant almond shampoo, conditioner and mild and pleasant bath soap, increased our pleasure. The beach, fine restaurants, and great shopping were within a short walking distance. Captain Mey's met all the requirements of a fine Band B. Our bed with many lace-edged pillows was luxurious. We also had a small tv on the bureau and an airconditoner in the window. The room was very comfortable and clean as well as lovely to look at. We had lunch at Freda's which is the restaurant bordering on the Mall. It is small, but the menu is sophisticated but reasonable. There are many restaurants within walking distance and we chose The Merion Inn for dinner. An established icon of Cape May. Warm woods, friendly staff, a piano player (on a Tuesday evening), great Martini, and gourmet menu. Has a gentleman's club atmosphere. After a good night's sleep we joined other guests in the large dining room for a Continental Breakfast. Perhaps this is the only part of our stay which I would rate 4 star not 5. The owner, an extremely pleasant and kind woman, was the chef and breakfast came in steps, with diners not sure whether what was out on the table was all there was or more. (There was more.....a little later, fresh bagels, and then a short time after that, hard-boiled eggs. Congenial owner, very clean, excellent location, beautifully decorated in Victorian style, and a relaxing and lovely front porch. We look forward to another visit to Cape May and Captain Mey's B & B.

This wonderful B & B made a quick one-night getaway into a memorable experience. The owner, Rita, greeted us when we arrived and gave us a thorough tour of the first floor common rooms. She escorted us to our spotless room - The Captain Johan. Shower was a little tight, but everything else was great. They provide 24 hour coffee/tea and water. The beach was only a few blocks away and they even supplied beach towels and chairs. Restaurants and the Washington Street shopping mall were only a block away. Rita was a gracious hostess and always asked if everything was OK with our stay. We will definitely go again.

This B&B is a family run business. Frankly, for most of our stay we only saw the two lovely young daughters who ran the B&B with care and accountability. The week began with really humid weather but then it broke -- enough for us to simply sit out on the veranda, sip tea from lovely Victorian cups and enjoy the wafting breezes coming through these gorgeous, opulent, plants and flowers. We didn't want to move from that corner spot! When we come again, we will want to make sure to reserve another room that has its own bathroom. The Queen Beatrix was adorable but the bathroom was outside of the room. We had to enter the foyer a couple steps to another separate bathroom. Not terrible - but not great either.

We've stayed in Cape May many times and at Captain Mey's several times. It is a very good choice. The rooms are very nice. The staff is great. There is on-site parking which can be very important during the busy season. Most of all, they are extremely accommodating. It is rare that a place would allow you to use their premises after check-out. This place does. It stands as a testament to their graciousness, which is very important at a Bed and Breakfast. You also cannot beat the location. It is right at the heart of town. Their prices are also reasonable. I would highly recommend this and plan to stay here whenever I come to Cape May.

Spent a couple nights last weekend at Capt Mey's. The place was clean, charming, and a good value. Rita was more than welcoming and it felt very much like spending a weekend at a family shore house. Very close to beach, the nicest porch on the block, and just a minute away from the main shopping square. Also, I found it very helpful that bath towels, blow dryers, beach towels, and (nice!) beach chairs are all provided. We will be returning to this B&B and I will happily recommend it to friends.

Only stayed 1 night but the staff were just wonderful. We had a private but unconnected bathroom with a standing shower. Everything you would expect from aa B&B. The price was a litle less than surrounding B&B's which was great. All in all the value was very good as was the service. Sitting on the porch in the evening with a couple cocktails. Nice. If I had to find something negative I'd have to dig and say the narrow drive way. See it was all good.
