A high-quality, friendly, and peaceful inn with great breakfast!

5 on June 01, 2016

We stayed at Buttonwood with our 5-year old over the memorial day weekend, and we really enjoyed our stay. It is within 5-10 minute drive from North Conway and is located at Mt. Surprise, surrounded with green. Very peaceful and quiet. Bill & Paula were extremely friendly. They pay great attention to details, everything seemed very well organized and clean. The breakfast was amazing. We'd definitely go there again!

Warm and inviting B&B

One of the best B&B ever! The Buttonwood Inn is a wonderful New England Inn. The hospitality is top notch! Breakfast is absolutely delicious, not to mention the wonderful snack each evening. We highly recommend this Inn!

Fabulous!

5 on November 23, 2015

As we drove up the driveway my husband and I had no idea what a remarkable stay we would have at the Buttonwood Inn in September. From the first hearty greeting from Innkeeper Bill to the last goodbye wave to Bill and Paula several days later, our stay was perfect. The property itself is beautiful, well-kept, surrounded by huge deciduous trees, and every detail is attended to daily. Our room was on the second floor and furnished tastefully; the bed was the most comfortable I have ever experienced. We left the window cracked at night, and the fresh fragrant air wafted in leaving us feeling that our night's sleep was deep and relaxing. Everything in the inn is immaculate and well-maintained. Paula's scrumptious food and Bill's attention to service made breakfast wonderful every day. Bill helped everyone decide on hikes, drives, activities for kids and adults, shopping spots, food and restaurant choices. Bill and Paula were truly available and cheerfully engaged during our entire stay. We cannot wait to go back to the Buttonwood Inn.

A Hidden Gem

5 on September 18, 2015

This is our 7th or 8th visit to the Buttonwood and it never disappoints. Bill and Paula are the perfect hosts and know exactly when to come to the fore or fade into the background. Through our many visits, we have come to regard them not only as our hosts, but our friends. It is a great location, away from the busyness of North Conway but close to everything that you need for a great get away. Highly recommend this Inn.

Fantastic place to stay!

Bill and Paula are such wonderful hosts - they really do make you feel like you are at home. They were also incredibly generous and really made a special occasion weekend even better. They rooms are immaculate and stocked with everything you could ever need during your stay. The breakfast and treats were also delicious. We recommend the inn to anyone and wouldn't hesitate to return!

Relaxing getaway in the woods

5 on August 24, 2015

Me and my husband absolutely loved our stay at the Buttonwood Inn on Mount Surprise. Paula and Bill are the most amazing and nice people you can ever meet. They made us feel like we are home away from home. They gave us very helpful tips on where to go and what to do in the area. Paula's breakfasts were very, very delicious - we loved the banana bread, pancakes, waffles - absolutely everything. There were baked goods with tea and coffee waiting for us in the dining room every afternoon. Bill gave us a lot of recommendations about hiking and stuff to do in the area. He also had a fire going on one of the evenings - it was a nice and relaxing evening. The Inn is located in a very beautiful wooded area - there is a jacuzzi and pool. It's great to be at the pool during the day and get in the jacuzzi at night. There is a game room with a big TV where you can watch movies, play games or just hang out. The Inn is decorated in such a beautiful way - everything is so pretty, everything! Our room and bathroom were so cute - every detail was just fabulous. Extremely clean and refreshing. I was in love with the decoration of the room. The Inn is very close to North Conway, which is a very cute little city with a lot of small shops and restaurants. We are ABSOLUTELY coming back! I also told ALL of my friends about Buttonwood Inn - it's just perfect!

Great place!

We stayed at the Buttonwood for 3 days and were very happy with the experience! Bill and Paula are very pleasant, helpful, and attentive. Breakfast was delicious and filling. They can even arrange a "hiker's breakfast" for those who want to start the day early. They accomodate food allergies very well and you don't feel like you're missing out. For the price, you get a very good deal: clean rooms, a game room, pool, hot tub, breakfast, tea and cookies, and a quiet location on top of a hill. Thank you Bill and Paula!

The Buttonwood Inn is a great place to stay!

5 on April 13, 2015

My fiancé and I have stayed with Bill and Paula at their lovely inn twice now. We were there this past summer to go hiking and again in the winter for a ski weekend. North Conway is a fun place all year round with lots to do, and we have loved our stays at the Buttonwood Inn for many reasons. It is minutes to the center of North Conway, but not right in throng of things which allows for a cozy and quiet stay. The place was built in the 1800's and has been kept in great condition. There are several common spaces to hang out in with working fireplaces and views of the peaceful woods around it. My fiancé and I love the authentic features in each room that give the inn a cozy look and warm feel of the past. Bill and Paula are excellent innkeepers. Both are friendly, attentive and work hard to accommodate their guests. Zach and I stayed in two of the rooms so far, and both were comfortable and unique in their design. In the summer you can relax in the hot tub or swim in the pool in the back yard. In the winter, you can cozy up next to a fireplace in either the living room or in the common area in the basement. You can also take a walk in woods near the house. Paula is an amazing cook and prepares breakfast each morning as well as pastries with tea and coffee in the afternoon. Guests have the option of setting up a dinner reservation at one of the top-notch local restaurants along with booking a room. My fiancé and I had dinner at The White Mountain Cider Company during our first visit and The Oxford House Inn during our second visit. Each place served delicious food, and we would absolutely go back again. The Buttonwood Inn is a gem and I highly recommend it to others. My fiancé and I will surely be back in the future!

Cozy B&B!

Bill & Paula are fantastic hosts. Paula is a superb cook who even accommodated my fiance's wheat-allergy with gluten-free cookies and scones! The property is a cozy resting spot for hikers, families, or couples. Highly recommended.

Exceptional weekend trip

Our stay at the Buttonwood Inn was exceptional. From the hospitality to the rooms and property, the food, the cleanliness the all around atmosphere couldn't have been any better. It's located in a great spot, a couple minutes outside North Conway Village, Cranmore Mountains and close to other landmarks. I have already and will continue to recommend the Buttonwood Inn!

About the innkeepers

Bill and I both worked in the corporate world in New Jersey. Bill was an industrial engineer by training and managed staff in production plants and retail product facilities. I went to cooking school to become a chef and also obtained a degree in food service management. I worked in hospitality and took a detour for a time, working in the pharmaceutical industry as a marketing analyst. During those years working in corporations, I yearned to get back to my passion of cuisine and food preparation
