My fiancé and I have stayed with Bill and Paula at their lovely inn twice now. We were there this past summer to go hiking and again in the winter for a ski weekend. North Conway is a fun place all year round with lots to do, and we have loved our stays at the Buttonwood Inn for many reasons. It is minutes to the center of North Conway, but not right in throng of things which allows for a cozy and quiet stay. The place was built in the 1800's and has been kept in great condition. There are several common spaces to hang out in with working fireplaces and views of the peaceful woods around it. My fiancé and I love the authentic features in each room that give the inn a cozy look and warm feel of the past. Bill and Paula are excellent innkeepers. Both are friendly, attentive and work hard to accommodate their guests. Zach and I stayed in two of the rooms so far, and both were comfortable and unique in their design. In the summer you can relax in the hot tub or swim in the pool in the back yard. In the winter, you can cozy up next to a fireplace in either the living room or in the common area in the basement. You can also take a walk in woods near the house. Paula is an amazing cook and prepares breakfast each morning as well as pastries with tea and coffee in the afternoon. Guests have the option of setting up a dinner reservation at one of the top-notch local restaurants along with booking a room. My fiancé and I had dinner at The White Mountain Cider Company during our first visit and The Oxford House Inn during our second visit. Each place served delicious food, and we would absolutely go back again. The Buttonwood Inn is a gem and I highly recommend it to others. My fiancé and I will surely be back in the future!

Bill & Paula are fantastic hosts. Paula is a superb cook who even accommodated my fiance's wheat-allergy with gluten-free cookies and scones! The property is a cozy resting spot for hikers, families, or couples. Highly recommended.

Our stay at the Buttonwood Inn was exceptional. From the hospitality to the rooms and property, the food, the cleanliness the all around atmosphere couldn't have been any better. It's located in a great spot, a couple minutes outside North Conway Village, Cranmore Mountains and close to other landmarks. I have already and will continue to recommend the Buttonwood Inn!

The Buttonwood Inn is by far our favorite bed and breakfast. Bill and Paula, the innkeepers, truly make you feel like you're at home. Their hospitality (from their local recommendations to their friendly chats that show their genuine interest in their guests' lives), service (from offering snowshoes to borrow in the winter & dips in the hot tub or pool when it's nicer out to their plethora of games/movies in their cozy Mt. Surprise common room) and food (words can't describe Paula's culinary talents. Her afternoon treats are beyond delicious, and her sweet & savory breakfasts are top notch!) truly put the Buttonwood Inn in a league of its own. The guest rooms are delightfully furnished with everything you could possibly need during your stay, and the inn's location allows you the opportunity to be close enough to restaurants & shops while being nestled among the mountains, with hiking trails and scenic views right outside your back door. My husband and I absolutely cannot wait to return to the Buttonwood Inn! Bill and Paula make you want to come back over and over again.

My husband, 4-year-old daughter and I made a return trip to the Buttonwood this year after enjoying our stay there so much last December--and it was just as wonderful the second time around. Paula is an excellent cook. Both she and Bill are wonderful conversationalists, and really care about the house as well as their guests. It feels more like visiting extended family than visiting "an Inn." House is clean and nicely decorated, but not "too nice" where you're afraid to touch anything. There are baked treats out each afternoon, and an ever-present assortment of teas and hot cocoa. The den downstairs is well stocked with board games and movies. And the rooms are cozy and comfortable. We plan to make the Buttonwood part of our annual pre-Christmas tradition.

Our spur-of-the-moment hiking trip brought us to Buttonwood Inn and we're so happy to have discovered it. The public rooms are a delight, our bedroom was spacious, super-comfortable and thoughtfully stocked with toiletries, carafes of water, flashlights, etc. Paula's breakfast, while way too big, were exquisitely prepared, worthy of a Relais et Chateau. Bill was very knowledgeable about area hikes. We can't wait to return during ski season, but really, we recommend visiting the Buttonwood Inn on Mt. Surprise anytime for a romantic getaway anytime!

The INN is a wonderful relaxing experience off the beaten path..yet close to all the features of North Conway and the Mt. Washington area. Our hosts made us feel at home. They provided helpful touring tips and dining suggestions. The INN breakfast was gourmet and professionally served. We would like to return in the future!!

The inn is just a few minutes away from the bustle of downtown North Conway and the seclusion of hiking trails up Hurricane Road. You can hear the buzzing of the bees during the day and see the stars out of your window at night. We were warmly greeted by Bill who gave us a tour of the Inn. There were people in the common area playing the guitar and singing and when we ran into Paula she commented that it was such a treat to have live entertainment right here! The room was cozy, clean, and had a little bathroom that was supplied with everything from q-tips to a hair dryer. For breakfast Paula prepared delicious food while Bill graciously served us. During our stay Bill and Paula became grandparents! While eating breakfast, Bill came around to all of our tables, smiling, as he shared a picture of their new addition with us! On their recommendation we found a nice place to eat dinner and found a great hiking trail near their home. Their "rec room" in the basement is supplied with numerous games, a gigantic tv, countless videos and the fridge is clean. I would definitely stay at the Buttonwood Inn in the future.
