Zahn’s Alpine Guesthouse is a careful and authentic re-creation of a typical Bavarian or Austrian Pensione, or Gasthaus. The founders had traveled extensively in this region, in connection to their importing business and ski tours. They loved the mixing with other guests and the Hausfrau and her family. Connections are discovered; good friends are made. The structure itself is pine post and beam. Its deeply overhung balcony and flower boxes are true to form. The beautifully recreated inside is furnished with authentic Austrian furniture, beds, and lighting fixtures. The Stube, or common room, features a massive Kachelofen (tile oven), built by a master mason trained and licensed in Austria. During the cold months, it keeps the Stube and much of the Inn aglow in its subtle warmth.
