Wonderful stay overall. Clean, quiet, wonderful hostess. We got in late and everyone was very accommodating and flexible. We stayed in the Rhododendron, which was lovely and very spacious. Very close to the downtown shopping and restaurants, so it was very convenient. Food was consistently good and there were drinks and snacks stocked at all times too. Would definitely stay again.
We were able to walk to all the activities of Colonial Williamsburg. We stayed in the cottage with our 3 grand kids. They loved the bunk beds. Great restaurants with all price ranges within walking distance. Very clean with great personal service.
Me and my husband just retired and wanted to stay at a B&B This place is great. They treat you like family . Share there stories and help us plain our day . To see the different neat places to see . We will be going back and stay .. Hobans from pa.
The room and premises were lovely and quiet, but breakfast was a disappointment. There was no milk available when I came down for early coffee. Our breakfast plates were delayed and the egg dishes had not finished cooking. I expected better.
Delicious breakfast each morning. Perfect location- walking distances of everything in Colonial Williamsburg and Merchant Square. Room was a good size and well-kept. Minor complaint- the television is the size of a computer laptop screen.
The inn is within walking to the historic district, visitors center and many nice places to dine. Owner and staff were pleasant and knowledgable of surrounding areas. Room was comfortable and well maintained. Reserved parking provided across the street. If you want a certain room call first before booking online. We booked a certain room then were told by email it was booked and had been moved to different room. (Owner was happy to cancel the reservation if desired) Glad we didn't. It was a perfect location for exploring the historic town on foot or driving to outer areas.
My wife and I wanted to take a quiet weekend in celebration of her pending 30th birthday and Colonial Gardens came highly recommended. Joy was an absolute pleasure to be around and went above and beyond what is expected to make sure we had everything we needed. The house is incredibly well done and very well maintained. The atmosphere is happy and relaxed and you can tell a lot of thought has been put into everything. Joy is an amazing chef and each breakfast item was expertly and lovingly crafted. Easily some of the best breakfast items we've ever tasted. The food is plated incredibly well and the surrounding and ambiance is top notch ( huge kudos for the big band and Sinatra music backdrop! ). This was our first B&B experience and my wife and I were a little skeptical at first. Colonial Gardens has easily won us over to the B&B side and we are all ready planning our next visit!
My wife & I stayed here for our 15th Wedding Anniversary & im I'm so glad we did! We got So much more for our money than any Hotel at this price! The House is beautifully decorated & has a classic Colonial feel. The innkeeper Joy was a pleasure and made our experience great! We would definitely stay there again!
I stayed in the Conservancy suite at the Fife and Drum Inn. The room was small but wonderfully decorated and so cozy - the claw foot tub was immaculate, as was everything else. I loved the canopy bed. The breakfast served each morning was delicious - Virginia ham biscuits, fresh fruit, egg casserole, etc. and the owners were so sweet and engaged us in friendly conversation and genuinely cared about our experience there. I will definitely be a returning customer!
The Fife & Drum Inn in downtown Williamsburg was the most charming hotel we have ever stayed in. We stayed in the Weber Room which was spacious and had an updated tiled shower/bathroom and the Colonial Charm was abundant. It was also one of the the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in. The owners were welcoming and helpful. The breakfast offered is a variety of hot delicious food and the location is unbeatable. Book far in advance cause this secret it out!!
We stayed at the cottage and loved it! There were unfortunate problems the first night when the air conditioning went out. It was repaired early the next morning and all was well! We hope to stay there again next visit.
My wife and I stayed at the Colonial Gardens for our one year anniversary. We were completely satisfied with our stay. Joy, the innkeeper, was great. She went above and beyond to make our weekend special. Breakfast was both delicious and meticulously presented. The location is convenient to Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, the Williamsburg Winery, as well as great places to go have lunch or dinner. We highly recommend Colonial Gardens for your weekend getaway!
Joy was incredible! The breakfast was wry delicious. The place is very welcoming, calm, and peaceful. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and we enjoyed every moment there. There was a power outage; however, Joy made it soo delightful by lightening the sexy candles, making sure the guest were ok. Joy was awesome and she should not have been left there to fend for everyone when there was a generator there. Joy was incredible and we will be back! I recommend this stay to everyone. Joy knew the town and gave great recommendations. She found a store for us in our city to purchase an item that was in Williamsburg. Simply great customer service. See you next time Joy!!
Clean and comfortable. Billy and Sharon very helpful with all things local. Loved Colonial Williamsburg with all the history, reenactments, shows and tours. So much to see, learn and do. All local restaurants visited had delicious food.
My wife and I were looking for a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary and we booked the Colonial Gardens because of price and proximity to Williamsburg. We really enjoyed out stay and Joy (who was our innkeeper) was great/. She was always there when we had questions and she got us comfortable with the Williamsburg area. The breakfast she had every morning was delicious (especially the croissants) and our room was really nice and spacious. I even wanted to make our anniversary more special and Karen the owner had made some recommendations and my wife was surprised with beautiful flowers, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. It was a great weekend and I recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone who is looking for good value and looking to make great memories!
My wife and I chose the Fife and Drum as a weekend getaway for our 15th anniversary. We were very pleased with all aspects of the inn. The location cannot be beat and we are already planning our next visit. My wife was especially impressed with the spotless condition of the room and bathroom we stayed in. I loved the ham biscuits and being able to come back for cookies and lemonade after a long day. The decor is charming and I was impressed with how quiet the rooms were. The Fife and Drum is now our place to stay in Williamsburg.
This was my first stay at a bed and breakfast and I absolutely loved it! Fife and Drum Inn is so charming and comfortable and the breakfast each morning was a wonderful treat! I can't wait until my next trip out to Williamsburg so I can stay there again.
The location is perfect for visiting College of William and Mary or Colonial Williamsburg. Accommodations were very nice and the owners are friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. The Restoration Room was perfect for traveling with a teenager.
If you are looking to stay right in the heart of Williamsburg (but not actually in CW), then this place is your best bet. Comfortable and clean rooms, excellent hosts, solid breakfast (try to biscuits and jam), and walking distance to CW. We will be back!
The Inn couldn't be in a better location for Colonial Williamsburg and the William and Mary College. Very nice rooms and bathrooms. Excellent breakfasts. The hosts are gracious, helpful and non-intrusive - a winning combination. Highly recommended.
Truly enjoyed the central location. It's very easy to walk to dining, shops, William and Mary and Colonial Williamsburg. This makes it easy to get back to the room for an afternoon break. And there is a Baskin and Robbins that is open until 10 pm across the street for that late night treat.
