Quirpon Lighthouse Inn

  • Inn Details

Let the north Atlantic surf lull you as you drift off to sleep in our well appointed inn on this isolated island. With Humpback, Orca, Minke and others in our waters, the panoramic view from our whale watching station or our helipad overlooks "Iceberg Alley" in Newfoundland's longest iceberg and whale season. What the press have thought of our registered Heritage Property - Quirpon Lighthouse Inn: One of the top five "... World's most secluded destinations...close to holiday perfection." LONDON SUNDAY TIMES. "It's a setting Captain Ahab would give his other leg for." NEW YORK POST. "...a cozy, secluded outpost that seems as if it's perched at the edge of the world." LONDON FREE PRESS "Fall asleep to the pounding North Atlantic and wake up to the sight of icebergs and whales passing by." NATIONAL POST. "I'd once paddled the entire Inside Passage, from Alaska's ice-choked Glacier Bay to Puget Sound, but I'd never seen anything like this." NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC ADVENTURE. "This is the Real McCoy... a truly special, tell-the-grandchildren, buy-the-film-rights kind of place.." GREENWOOD GUIDE "...an utterly irresistible escape for any urbanite at the end of his rope." SALTSCAPES "...Newfoundland's most remote and romantic tourist retreat." CHRONICLE HERALD

Quirpon Lighthouse is set in a wonderful location and the facilities are genuine. However the management of this facility is uncooperative and unhelpful. We had to change our reservation - and were unable to stay a second night - because poor weather was forecast, which meant we would have missed a tour we had booked. We spoke with the host about this and, with her, decided it would be best to leave and beat the heavy winds. We confirmed with her that we would not pay for the second night; however the management did charge us for the second night - $350 - and refused to discuss the matter any further. It was unfortunate episode in an otherwise marvelous visit. We hope they change this policy soon.

Myself along with 8 family members stayed at Quirpon island for only 1 night in July 2010 and loved everything about the place, we all would go back again. Staff was wonderful, food was like Mom's Sunday dinner, watching the wales in the evening was fantastic and the fresh air was so great. All the wild flowers were also special, I could go on and on We are all from Montreal Quebec Canada with parents from Cape Breton Nova Scotia This is a real must do at least once in lift
