Leaside Manor is located in St. John's, Newfoundland, the oldest city in North America. With a population of 150,000, St. John's offers a wonderful composite of old and new world: Icebergs, whales, spectacular scenery, festivals, folk music, art and heritage history galore. There's no place quite like it! Leaside is a spectacular 41/2 star mansion in downtown St. John's. The former residence of the prominent Parker family, Leaside is a provincial & city heritage building. It is the only home of its style in the province. Tudor at its exterior-lead lined windows, columns, expansive lot with wrought iron fencing, and double-gated drive. At the interior, Leaside is "arts & crafts" in design - paneled walls, light sconces, beveled glass doors, ornate fireplaces, inlaid wood floors. The reception hall is a replica of the "great" hall in the Royal Doulton family home in Kilmacolm, Scotland. Rooms are spacious. Private baths. Jacuzzi suite. Full breakfast. Holiday planning. Full corporate services. Rates from $99.

    • Directions to property:
If you are arriving in St. John's via the Trans Canada Highway (TCH) #1, take the Pitts Memorial Drive exit and follow it into downtown St. John's. In its downtown end, the Pitts Memorial Drive naturally feeds into New Gower Street. At the intersection of New Gower Street and Waldegrave Street (the Delta Hotel is on your left) is a set of lights - turn right onto Waldegrave Street. At the next set of lights, turn right again onto Water Street. Continue west along Water Street until you come to a "Y" intersection which ends Water Street, and feeds right into (Old) Topsail Road and left onto Waterford Bridge Road. Keep right on Topsail Road and Leaside is on your left - #39. If you "pass the cemetery", you've gone too far! Property is signed.

    Airport

    • St. John's, NF, Canada (YYT) 5 miles

    • Directions to property:
From the airport, proceed south on Portugal Cove Road until it intersects Prince Philip Parkway; you will have the Holiday Inn on your left - turn right onto the parkway. Follow it - a considerable distance - past the university, past the Avalon Mall, past the Village Mall until you come to Topsail Road. Turn left onto Topsail Road. Continue on through one set of lights and Topsail Road will feed right onto "Old" Topsail Road (many maps may just refer to it as Topsail Road). Leaside is on the right, just past the old cemetery. Property is signed.

What a wonderful place. Staff were exceptional and we really appreciated the early morning breakfast on our last day. Signal Hill room was quaint and very comfortable. My only negative is the noise from above that comes through the floor - otherwise 5 star all aroun

You MUST explore this delight, right in the city of St. John's....... quaint, private, wonderful rooms...... quiet and delightful. Each room is unique and all beg to be experienced. Breakfast delivered to your room, is a real treat, however it might be nice to be given options/alternates to choose from. Overall a great value!

My lovely wifer an I stayed in the Bakeapple Suite at Leaside for our 12th Anniversary last week. It was an ideal location for a quiet get away while not being too far away from home as my mother had the kids for the evening. The 2 person soaker tub was a hit - my wife is now pricing one for our home. The service is far better that what I've come to expect in large hotels as I am a frequent business traveller. Thanks Leaside. We'll see you again next year.
