Chillout Taiwawe is a stunning secluded Northland retreat nestled amongst native trees on a hill overlooking beautiful private Taiwawe Bay on the superb coast of Northland, New Zealand. This Northland lodge accommodation is approximately 45 minutes drive north of Whangarei towards the world famous Bay of Islands and is the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy some true 'Kiwi' hospitality. Your host Des Cogan will ensure all your requirements are taken care of, whether you are an international visitor exploring New Zealand, or a local requiring a quiet weekend escape. Des is a true Northlander! He has lived here all his life and is passionate about its exceptional beauty and the opportunities it offers to visitors. Des has farmed in Northland for many years and, for the past 25 years has built a reputation as a highly competent farrier. That was until he decided to change direction and share this secluded spot in paradise with local and international guests! Now he enjoys his leisure-time, loves—spending time with guests, fishing and scuba diving in local waters abundant with sealife, cooking local produce and playing golf off a 15 handicap. We visited NZ on november 2011 and stayed at Chillout Taiwawe for five days. Des Cogan is a wonderful host and we really enjoyed our stay! We would like to recommend Chillout Taiwawe to anyone looking for perfect mix of activity and relaxation. Antti & Annika, Jyväskylä Finlad

Des offers the most wonderful friendly and hospitable experience I have had in the many years of B & B I have done. I was impressed with the many small touches provided such as chocolates, games of coyts, fresh towels, nibbles - just to name a few. Des went out of his way to make my stay very enjoyable. I enjoyed a fabulous boat trip out to surrounding bays, walking the Mimiwhangata Peninsula, fishing, collecting tuatua and going to the Helena Bay Hill Art Gallery. Des offers more than this for activities, and I urge anyone to do whatever is available. I enjoyed the fresh home made bread, and freshly prepared meals. I couldn't have asked for anything better to meet the idea I had of parking myself on the edge of the earth to soak up land, sea, bush and sky. I was in awe of the landscape and never tired of it. This is a truly remarkable experience. I will not forget any of this, and I sincerely hope to return again. Denise Poyner
