Inn Details

A restored c. 1820 Federal Style Farmhouse (with original wide pine floors), modified by Greek Revival moldings and late Victorian touches, Reading House is a warm, inviting home with 4 guest bedrooms all with comfortable beds and private baths and furnished with antiques and hand-made quilts. You start the day with a delicious, full breakfast, carefully prepared and artfully presented. The guest parlours, one with fireplace, are wonderful places to relax, relive the days events or read a good book. Outside there are the gardens with ponds, perennial borders which in season feature multitudes of daffodils, iris or daylilies. You can sit under the arbor, atop the hillside garden, with a panoramic view of Seneca Lake before you, and observe other guests trying to negotiate the meadow maze. Just 5 miles north of Watkins Glen with its gorge and Race Track, and amid wineries, Reading House is a perfect home base from which to explore the Finger Lakes Region. It is beautiful in any season.
