Peach Grove Inn

  • Inn Details

We, at Peach Grove Inn, invite you to discover the graceful nineteenth century lifestyle of Col. Wm. F. Wheeler, a prominent orange county farmer. His home was built in the Greek Revival tradition, in anticipation of his son Isaac's wedding to Phoebe Bull in 1850. The Wheeler home was rated 'the most complete farm-house in the County', by the Orange County Agricultural Society, shortly thereafter. This antebellum home, with a hint of southern luxury, overlooks a lovely 200 acre farm. The original faux-marble walls in the grand 2 story entry hall, painted by the artist Charles Clinton, epitomize a classic nineteenth century tradition. As the present owners, we have restored its elegant details, original moldings and 9 fireplaces, recalling an era of timeless ease. Its furnishings of fine nineteenth century antiques creates an aura of luxury that moves smoothly through the double parlors, dining room and guest rooms. Three of these four romantic rooms have working fireplaces. Each of these spacious, light filled rooms, has its own private bath. Awaken to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and enjoy a full breakfast, including home baked goods, served in the formal dining room. While visiting historic Warwick, guests can enjoy skiing, horseback riding, hiking or golf. The area also features antique shops, the sugar loaf craft village, a performing arts center offering theater, dance and concerts, N.Y.S. Renaissance Festival, Museum Village and the Warwick Center. There are also many fine restaurants within minutes of Peach Grove Inn.

John was most hospitable and helpful. The room (The Hearth room) was beautiful, comfortable and clean. The Inn itself is impressive with a great history. The breakfasts were gourmet quality and delicious. Simply put, we had a wonderful time. Highly recommended.

My boyfriend and I are a bit of last-minute planners and were thrilled to discover that one of Warwick Valley's premier B&B's was willing to let out it's "Servants Quarters" to us over a three-day holiday weekend. By the way, we reside in Manhattan, and the "Servants' Quarter's" room was larger than our apartment. The proprietor John was so accommodating and very understanding that we would be arriving late coming up through holiday rush-hour traffic on a Friday night. He checked us into our room, and made three excellent recommendations for places to have a beer and some snacks after 9PM in the farm-land idyll that typifies the Warwick Valley (We went to the tap room at the Iron Forge Inn less than 2 miles away). The next morning John woke up early with us as we had an appointment and served us private coffee and breakfast danish in the parlor. Through our discussions John realized that we had a personal family history interest in the town and offered us the use of his beautiful history books at our leisure to see if we could learn something new. The atmosphere at peach Grove Inn is relaxing as if you are staying at a friend's house - no commercial feeling or unease as if you are intruding on someone's private residence. We will be back next year for both the 4th of July and Labor Day weekends - if not sooner - for our Manhattan escapes.

The innkeepers are pleasant and the breakfast was very good. However, the rooms need some attention as they are in a bit of disrepair. But the main issue is the walls are paper thin, so you can hear your neighbors constantly.

Beautiful rooms, bigger than in many old B&B mansions, well maintained and interesting. Breakfast was elegant, tasty and fun. The host is friendly and interesting without being overbearing.
