your experience staying here will be a 100% authentic southampton stay, the best of all it has to offer. Elizabeth Main does everything right. Casual luxuries abound. To spend an afternoon lounging by the beautiful pool and checking out the lush gardens is a little piece of heaven. The house it self is amazing, every detail done beautifully in classis hamptons/country style. breakfast is fantastic, it's not really continental, it's a nice, full spread that you can see she really puts a lot of thought, effort and love into. there are always home-baked treats (do not miss these!) I live in NYC and have been going to the Mainstay for almost 5 years in the summers and there is NO WHERE else I would stay ot east. Elizabeth is an wonderful innkeeping who makes every effort to heighten your entire southhampton experience. can't wait to get there next month and live the good life for a little while : )

A perfect weekend retreat. Elizabeth, the owner always greets us graciously and is very helpful and informative with all our needs. Our room was clean, cozy and looked out over the gardens. We especially loved the breakfast. The best waffles in town! We have been visiting there for many years. We love the beautiful, quaint decor, the pool and all the gardens. I highly recommend this B&B.

My wife and I stayed at the Mainstay and it was a great find. We were perfectly located near the ocean for gorgeous walks. Elizabeth was a charming hostess who directed us to restaurants in the area that were quite good. She was very friendly and made wine glasses and cold beverages available to us. The place was very clean and the beds were soooo comfortable. We stayed in a room with a queen size bed and a private bath. There was plenty of hot water even with a full house. Breakfast was included and there was plenty of choices. She has a waffle batter that is delicious! You can cook it to your own liking on the waffle iron. We look forward to staying there again this summer when we can take full advantage of the pool and gardens.

I admit I was wiped out when I checked in, but I never expected to havesuch a glorious, restful weekend as this past one. I was able to snare the garden room at The Mainstay which is a beautifully furnished, traditional big shingled house in Southampton and a short walk away to the ocean. I stayed here once before and loved it, but this time I was in heaven. The little private quarters opening onto the garden, the warm welcome (I can't believe the owner remembered me after 2 years!) the great breakfast and the general graciousness of the house itself made for not just R & R, but a special time. I felt like I was dropped into the English country side. I enjoyed it so much that I am now lobbying to get my college roomates l0th year reunion held there. I am of two minds about writing this review: one it is deserved; the other I don't want anyone else to know about that precious room!
