John Morris Manor Bed & Breakfast

  • Inn Details

John Morris Manor is a beautifully restored 1838 Greek revival farmhouse situated atop a secluded hill on 5.7 acres of spectacular natural beauty. The house is located three miles from the center of Seneca Falls, New York, and is less than a mile from New York Chiropractic College. We provide high quality accommodations and personalized services to our visiting guests. Our home features five large, comfortably furnished bedrooms, three with private baths and two with a shared bath. Nestled between the north ends of Seneca and Cayuga Lakes the area is known as the “gateway” to the Finger Lakes region of New York State. Seneca Falls was the sight of the first women’s rights convention held in this country in 1848. The area is rich in historical sites and museums, national parks, scenic waterfalls, and first class wineries. Pet friendly. Have 2 small dogs and have dedicated two rooms in the west wing for pets and their owners. Open kitchen, with plenty of snacks and beverages available at all times. You will enjoy a hearty breakfast each morning. Relaxed, informal atmosphere. We prize comfort and peace of mind.

What an exceptional Bed & Breakfast! I recommend it most highly. Tony & John, the hosts, were as down-to-earth, friendly, and accommodating as any 2 people can be. I, my friend, & the others staying there enjoyed the pool, the extensive & beautifully landscaped grounds, & spacious parlors for playing games, watching tv, etc. I especially enjoyed sitting on the screened porch watching the many birds at the different kinds of feeders. Tony prepared fantastic breakfasts and accommodated my vegetarianism. The bedrooms were gorgeous & the beds as comfortable as any in which I've ever slept. I slept like a baby. I intend to return to the area for another vacation & Tony's & John's hospitality is part of the reason why. If you're in the Seneca Falls area, I strongly suggest that you stay at this very special place. It's a unique combination of feeling at home and yet being wonderfully taken care of. Enjoy!

This was our first time visiting this inn, and we were very impressed. Everything about it far exceeded our expectations. The Valentine's Special was a fantastic deal! The room was beautiful, the hosts were gracious, and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back!

Such a wonderful experience!!! John and Tony were extremely hospitable!! My wife and I still talk about the breakfast Tony prepared for us...home made French toast, with a cranberry apple chutney which he was preparing when we arrived the day before. The egg soufflé was amazing!!! Will definetly be back soon. Thanks again John and Tony!!

    Will stay elsewhere next time

The old home was fairly charming, but we think the bedrooms were part of a lower quality addition with low ceilings. Our room (the Pool Room) was closest to the kitchen and we were woken early every morning by the hosts unloading the dishwasher and clanging dishes to prepare breakfast. This was followed every morning by them smoking on a porch across the hall from our room and the cigarette smoke would enter our bedroom. We really only interacted with one host who saw us to our room and served breakfast. He was pretty high maintenance, my wife said it was like staying with an uncle that you don't really like. The house furnishings were decidedly grandmothery and not to our taste. Our mattress AND pillows were like sleeping on concrete. We're pretty open-minded but there was a picture over our tub that we found fairly offensive that definitely should not be forced upon paying guests of unknown morals or beliefs. It was not subtle in any way and even had a ceiling light dedicated to illuminating it. I can't imagine how my parents or grandparents would have reacted if they had paid to stay in that room. It needs to be removed. To give credit where due, the breakfast was very good each morning. This was offset somewhat by the host getting upset if you don't eat everything (as I said, high maintenance), and the dogs constantly begging. I don't know what else is available in the area, but I'd look at other options before staying here.
