Westchester House B&B

102 Lincoln Avenue , Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 USA (Show map)

Welcome to the Westchester House - Saratoga's hidden jewel. The inn is nestled in a residential neighborhood of tree lined streets. Here guests are greeted by name and pampered with personalized service. Immerse yourself in a gracious, Old World ambiance. Share in Saratoga's magic. Master carpenter Almeron King built this gracious 1885 Queen Anne Victorian Inn as his family home. King's skill and imagination abound. The handcrafted chestnut moldings, and elaborately carved fireplace mantles reflect a strong Eastlake influence. The whimsical roofline, complete with cupola and balcony, soars skyward. Each elegantly appointed bedroom combines antique furnishings with up to date comforts. You will find firm mattresses, king and queen-size beds, luxury linens, tiled baths, ceiling fans, air conditioning, and chocolates. Awaken to the aroma of our own special blend of freshly ground, imported coffees. Your breakfast of freshly squeezed juice, homebaked breads and fresh fruit is served on crystal and china in our spacious dining room looking out on a magnificent old maple tree. Breakfast is a special occasion accompanied by spirited conversation. The charm and excitement, museums and racetracks, specialty shops and restaurants of Saratoga are an easy walk from the Westchester House.

Great weekend. Stephanie and Bob were very cordial. The other guests mixed well with everyone. Gardens and Happy hour were very nice. Rooms were very pretty. The house was close to track which meant walking was easy. Local restaurants were excellent. The Krashocs

Great Home Needs to Rethink B&B Strategy

The house is lovely and well situated, the rooms, and shared spaces, including outdoor space, excellent. However, we ended up eating OUT twice (of 3 days) for breakfast. There is NO HOT BREAKFAST at this "B&B". This is an age where most of us don't want to eat carbs no matter how delicious in the morning. Muffins, Scones and Bread do not a breakfast make. Eggs, Sausage/bacon, even cereal, do. This has to be said, because Bob doesn't understand this. Be aware of this if you like a good start to your morning with a hearty breakfast. You won't find it here. I highly recommend they hire someone to cook up eggs and bacon to order in the mornings. It would cost them very little to do so, and make much happier customers. If breakfast isn't your thing, the home is lovely, the towels plentiful, and the innkeepers very friendly and helpful.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your ability to be objective about the Westchester House Bed and Breakfast. We appreciate your positive comments about our rooms, location, gardens, linen and hospitality. We are sorry that you were disappointed in breakfast. All of our print material, including the confirmation we sent you and our website state that we serve a full cold breakfast. The breakfast we serve accommodates all dietary needs without a hot entree. You can watch carbs by eating meat, cheese and fruit. Guests watching fat intake can eat yogort, fruit and rolls and cereals. For guests who require gluten-free we serve gluten-free bread or muffins and rice crispies as well as all the other gluten-free items on the menu. Similarly for diabetics we offer original shredded wheat plus what has been mentioned. As you can see we have taken most dietary restrictions into consideration - including lactose intolerance When planning our breakfast. True, we do not satisfy guests who must have a hot entree. We try not to disappoint potential guests by publicizing the breakfast we do offer. Multiple times each season we answer inquiries regarding our breakfast by describing what we serve. Had we known of your desire for a hot entree we would have suggested other lodging options in town. Again, thank you for also focusing on all the positive things about your stay. We greatly appreciate that.

Excellent stay

Bob is the perfect host. His attention to detail to make your stay comfortable is exceptional. The home is beautiful. The only criticism I have is the lack of a hot breakfast.

Very nice stay in Saratoga Springs

We stayed with Bob & Stephanie for a long weekend in Saratoga Springs - just the right amount of time to take in a concert at SPAC, catch the races at the track, and do some local sightseeing. The B&B is perfectly situated within walking distance of the track and "downtown" Saratoga Springs for dinner and shopping. At any B&B, the experience is a combination of the home, the innkeepers, and the other guests you meet. The home is a big beautiful house with 11 rooms of varying size. My wife and I had one of the queen-sized bed rooms with a larger bathroom. Despite the age of the home, the room was spotless and well-kept. The room admittedly was not huge, but we weren't there to lounge in comfortable bed all day :) Each morning is a very nice cold breakfast with freshly baked and tasty scones, muffins, and rolls, along with meats, cheeses, fruit, and the usual array of breakfast beverages. Bob is your friendly host and server. You're also joined by other guests. It's a perfect time to chat and learn about the area, the other guests, and horse racing (more about that later). Bob & Stephanie are wonderful innkeepers and have had this inn for over 25 years (I forget the exact number). They are a great source for local information and history. They will know anything and everything you need to know about the race track, local restaurants, sightseeing, etc. and are always willing to help. The other guests are also a highlight of the inn. We were "newbies" to the area and to horse racing in general. Bob & Stephanie's guests ranged from folks like us to very passionate horse aficionados who are very willing to share stories and advice. It made for a very entertaining breakfast. Plus, we received a lot of tips regarding enjoying the track, betting, and watching the horses. Saratoga Springs is a wonderful place to visit and Bob & Stephanie's inn is a wonderful place to stay while you are there.

Friendly service and excellent location

Very lovely little B&B. Bob and Stephanie were extremely friendly and helpful with planning our stay in Saratoga. Home-made pastries in the morning were outstanding. Perfect location as we were able to walk in one direction to the racetrack and in the other direction to downtown Saratoga and Congress Park. An easy walk in either direction.

we enjoyed our stay with you - our room & bath were perfect aa was the location I would have liked to have known about the concert held there- we hope to stay with you at another time maybe next year. I think that I would like to stay for a week do you have rates for a week or are they the same .

Bob and Stephanie provide a wonderful house in a beautiful neighborhood of Saratoga Springs. We were within walking distance of the downtown area and of the tracks. Bob is an interesting conversationalist and ready with facts and information on Saratoga.
