Entering through the doors of this Victorian Fantasy, you are greeted with an old world elegance. Intricately carved woodworking detail and spellbinding grandeur. Designed by Nicols and Halcott of Albany in 1873, this High Victorian Gothic exhibits influences from the French Renaissance, Italian, and Egyptian styles. The red and gray slate mansard roof is bifurcated by dormers, each accented by a huge clamshell arch. The ivory stucco facade is studded by a myriad of ornate bays and its conical tower resembling a minaret is right out of the Arabian nights. That bit of exotica was the result of original owner George S. Batcheller. Selected as Inn of the month in April, 1999 issue of Country Inns. We found this Inn quite by accident and are SO glad that we did. No sooner does one walk in, that you know you are in a "grand" mansion - it has so much history and beauty all around and the rooms are magnificent - all individually appointed with lovely views. Breakfast was delightful as well as the Inn keeper who marvelled us even more with the history of the Inn. We loved our stay and will definitely return.

A very cordial staff in a very homelike (for such a large mansion) setting. Very close (walkable) to all Saratoga attractions, including the race track. The history of the mansion is worth a stay in itself.

The Batcheller Mansion was a "shot in the dark" -- bull's eye. We usually prefer our B&Bs to be recommendations, but we took a look on the web and were amazed at the magnificence.

We both grew up in Saratoga and left in the 1970's when the Batcheller Mansion was facing the wrecking ball. The restoration and Victorian atmosphere with all the period furnishings was fantastic. The room was amazingly comfortable, extremely clean, dead quite, had all the modern amenities and a QUIET A/C unit. Dan was a graciuos host and docent and Kristin prepared a sumptious breakfast. For a taste or true Victorian elegance, do not miss this one! The second floor rooms (Mr. and Mrs. Batcheller's) are way over the top and the guest rooms on the third floor are still fit for royalty - who occasionaly stayed at the mansion along with Presidents.

We found this Inn quite by accident and are SO glad that we did. You won't believe this place. It is BEAUTIFUL. Easy walk to downtown. Michael Taylor the innkeeper loves his job and it shows. The rooms are spacious and inviting. Try to make time for a mineral bath in Saratoga Park.
