We wanted a quiet place to relax and this place was perfect Marjory and her son made us feel welcome. We stayed in the bed and breakfast and enjoyed wonderful breakfast each morning A short drive to towns of Saranac Lake and Lake Placid if you want to shop or find a place for dinner. Sitting by the lake just reading was so peaceful. Many nice hikes close by which we did a couple days Wish we stayed longer. Thank you for the hospitality.

My husband surprised me with a weekend stay at Kiwassa Lake B & B, and we couldn't have had a nicer time. Beautiful location, tranquil, private---the views were gorgeous and the owners were delightful. Low-key and completely relaxing spot. We could've taken advantage of all the activities offered (boating, fishing, flying, etc.), but we were so content with the room and location that we just hung out on the dock and in our room for most of the trip! Highly recommend booking a stay with these lovely folks.

Enjoyed a lovely weekend at this delightful B&B during peak leaf season. Built as a B&B, rooms are spacious, clean, and quiet. Enjoyed kayaking on the lake & hiking nearby. Gracious hosts served delicious breakfasts overlooking the lake. If you are looking for a quiet getaway, this is it! Also enjoyed exploring Saranac Lake & Lake Placid Villages when are nearby.

We stayed here for my wife's 40th birthday. We had just gotten done hiking 2 of the high peaks and were exhausted and filthy. The Pike room and our hosts were a very welcome site. The room was beautiful, and very orderly. The bathroom was huge and very modern. The view out the window is basically a Adirondack postcard which is the first thing you see in the morning. Breakfast was awesome and Margie is about as personable as they come. My only regret is we only had one night to spend there. Highly recommended.

We had the very good fortune of staying in the Bear Room on a rainy autumn night. With two very comfortable queen beds, a beautiful fireplace and nice sitting area, knotty pine walls and vaulted ceiling, this room was the perfect place for two friends traveling together to spend an evening of wine and conversation. Margie was the perfect hostess (thank you!) and the setting was perfectly lovely, and so close to the resort area of Lake Placid. And breakfast was served in a spacious dining area overlooking Kiwassa Lake...a little bit of heaven on earth.

I came across Kiwassa Lake B&b searching the internet for B&Bs in the Adirondacks and what a find it was. It exceeded my expectations by far! Where to begin? Upon arriving we were greeted by their beautiful black labrador Laney who immediately rolled over for a tummy rub…right there, I knew this was going to be a great experience. The rooms are immaculate and oh so clean, the ambiance tranquil, the views spectacular, the breakfasts delicious and the hosts are helpful, knowledgeable and extremely friendly. Margie has every detail covered even right down to the proliferation of bird feeders outside the balcony so we could sit quietly watching hummingbirds perch briefly in the trees before swooping in for a feed. As a bonus, for kayak enthusiasts, Kiwassa Lake is perfect for a leisurely paddle or for the more energetic and adventurous amongst us; a few miles paddling up river through lock gates will find you in Lower Saranac Lake with its maze of little islands perfect for a picnic lunch. Although, I would love to keep this new found gem a secret that would be really selfish. Kiwassa Lake B&B comes highly recommended for that moment of escape from our hectic lifestyles.

A husband who went to a B&B reluctantly will return in a minute! The Pike Room is private, comfortable, and immaculate with a wonderful view of the lake. It was a joy to be greeted each morning by a delightful Margie with a delicious breakfast. Pennsylvania

This was truly a slice of heaven. This B&B has the main house as well as individual cabins and we stayed in the main house in the Pike room. Updated room with great decor, spotless and magnificent view overlooking the lake! So peaceful sitting by the lake in the adirondak chairs and watching the sunset. Unfortunately, the pictures on the site don't do it justice. And don't forget about breakfast! It was delicious! The owners are incredibly nice and accomodating. Would definitely come back and enthusiastically recommend to others.

This was a wonderful combination of a tasteful place with all the creature comforts, and a relaxed spot with a rustic Adirondack atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent. Our room overlooked the lake, and we canoed to beautiful places with wildlife.

We spent our 34th anniversary at Kiwassa Lake B&B, and the whole experience was nothing but pleasant... Marjorie & Cliff were the friendliest of hosts, and Marjorie's apple pancake is the best! The pike room view provided winter Adirondack landscape at its best!

We have been travelling to the Kiwassa Lake Bed and Breakfast for over 5 years. It is without question our favorite vacation destination. The accommodations are wonderful and the environment is welcoming, comfortable and peaceful. All guest rooms are beautifully decorated in Adirondack style and very comfortable. The B&B is situated at the shore of Kiwassa lake, with access to numerous other lakes without leaving the water. Opportunities abound for kayaking, hiking, boating or just doing nothing and relaxing. Margie and Cliff are incredibly gracious and attentive hosts. Book your stay now, you will not be dissapointed!

If you are looking for peace and tranquility and enjoy nature at its best, then Kiwassa Lake B&B is the place for you. Margie & Cliff, their son Doug, and dog Laney are perfect hosts and made us feel welcome the moment we arrived. We spent 5 very comfortable nights in the Pike room which had a beautiful view of the serene lake and surrounding wooded countryside. Margie made us delicious breakfasts every day and she and Doug were very helpful in providing information on the area. Their dining and other recommendations were perfect for us. We enjoyed sitting by the lake, watching all the hummingbirds and other birds at their many feeders, and seeing and hearing the Loons. A new and thrilling experience for me was a ride over the Saranac Lake area in their seaplane. A special thank you to the Cochrans for sharing their wonderful home with us. I enjoyed our conversations and felt sad leaving our new “friends”.

My wife and I stayed for three nights and it was a great experience. Marjorie, Cliff, and Lanie were great. The views are great...lakes and surrounding mountains. I would highly recommend taking a boat ride to the other connecting lakes where this B and B is located. The room (Eagle) has great views onto the lake and the breakfast each morning, well you couldn't ask for anything better. Kiwassa Lake isn't as busy as some of the other surrounding lakes, which makes it an ideal getaway

A warm & inviting environment, each room/suite is decorated so nicely and spotlessly clean. The layout of the beds in Pike & Eagle rooms are situated so that you wake up to a view of the Lake that is absolutely beautiful. Margie's breakfasts were all delicious and she is such a gracious and friendly innkeeper. My husband was able to launch & dock his 16' boat that we trailed right in the front of the property. Although we ran into a rainy & chilly week, he managed to catch large & small mouth bass and pike in Lake Kiwassa and Oseetah. We will try our best to return to this wonderful B&B!

We were looking for a nice but affordable place in the Adirondacks to "get away" together and we found Kiwassa Lake B&B! The place was secluded enough for my outdoors-man husband but close enough to the town of Saranac Lake and Lake Placid to suit my need for civilization. The views from the rooms are incredible! (Owner let us peak in on all the other rooms) Breakfast was amazing, owners were so friendly and kind, and we really didn't want to leave! Can't say enough about it!

On our trip to Saranac for the February Winter Festival, we stayed at this B&B in the Bear Room, a beautiful spacious room with gorgeous pine floors and walls, vaulted ceiling and the most comfortable beds ever. The warm glow from the gas fireplace made the evening so peaceful as we settled down with a few of the many great books provided. We used the TV only to listen for the weather forecast (snow), and chose to take a quiet walk outside - a winter hush over everything. Margie and Cliff were terrific hosts, preparing us a fabulous hot breakfast. We've been here before, staying in one of their rustic cabins during the spring for some fishing in Kiwassa Lake (which is noted for its bass and pike), but I think we're spoiled now staying in the B&B rooms. We'll definitely be back, maybe for a fall trip when the foliage is at its peak, and stay in the room with the balcony facing the lake. You'll love this place!

Kiwassa Lake B&B was a great get-away in a beautiful private setting. Margie was a wonderful, engaging and thoughtful hostess and a tremendous cook! It was a real treat to linger over a delicious breakfast with a spectacular view and her delightful company. Great information was shared - from hiking recommendations to sales in Lake Placid. Our room was lovely and well-appointed. I loved waking up to the lake view! Worth the trip. I hope to return!

I have stayed at Kiwassa Lake a couple of times and each experience is magical. From the beauty of the location, the comfort of the rooms, the tastiness of the breakfasts and the friendliness of the innkeepers, this is a truly an experience not to be missed. Every time I leave I am planning my return.

We have driven all the way from Kansas to Kiwassa Lake B & B every fall since 2006. The location is one of the lovliest we have found anywhere in the country, especially when the leaves are turning. It is right on the waterfront of a beautiful little lake whose shoreline is still half wild. Outboard boats, canoes and kayaks are available at the B&B dock. Autumn bass and pike fishing is surprisingly good even within easy rowing distance, and there is good hiking nearby. The B&B itself is very attractive, with two of its rooms only a few yards from the edge of the water. The rooms are comfortable but not luxurious. The hostess Margie Cochran is very friendly and accomodating, and her breakfasts are large and delicious.

A wonderful, peaceful picturesque setting on the beautiful Kiwassa lake. The host/hostess are so friendly. The inn so clean, neat and very comfortable & accommodating.

Our family of 4 stayed in the Bear Room for 4 nights. This B&B exceeded our expectations in every way, and we are really picky! The room is bigger than it appears in the pictures, extremely clean and beautifully decorated in the Adirondack style. We loved everything about it: Margie's delicious breakfasts, the quiet dock overlooking the beautiful lake, Lainey the loveable (and mellow) dog, the quiet, the cookie of the day, the list goes on ... Margie is a great host, who went out of her way to accommodate our dietary restrictions and help us find wonderful activities. The B&B is totally secluded, but a short drive to activities in and around Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. We didn't want to leave! No matter who you are, or where you come from, stay at Kiwassa Lake B&B!

This was one of our one night stays at several inns in the Adirondacks in July 2009. The Kiwassa Lake B&B was one of the best values close to Lake Placid. The inn had been recently updated and all rooms in the main inn showed well of the updates. Our room was very well appointed with a new bathroom, access to the upstairs kitchen and a great view of the lake. Our hosts were very friendly and their black labrador even took part in greeting us upon or arrival. In the morning we were treated to a great breakfast of homemade blueberry pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee all provided with wonderful conversation with our hostess Margie. A very quiet and secluded location on a great semi-private lake a few minutes from downtown Saranac Lake, NY.

This was a beautiful lodge right on the lake, and in a wooded setting. Everything was tip-top. The room and bath were immaculate and so tastefully furnished--solid comfort in every way. Our hosts were delightful and treated us like friends. Breakfast was superb and as an added treat, we enjoyed the telescope and viewing the ducks and ducklings on the lake. Our stay at this B&B will always be remembered with joy!

This B&B is tucked away on a quiet lake and is a real treasure. The waterfowl were a treat to watch while we waited for our outstanding breakfast to be served. The rooms were clean and spacious and the hospitality warm and gracious. A great place to get away.

We stayed in the Moose Room on the the Canadian May long weekend May 15-18. There were other guests in the B&B only on the first night, so it was quite a quiet spot for us, which we enjoyed. The room is spacious with a cathedral ceiling and a great view on the lake and it is appointed well with some comfortable chairs for sitting, a small table and chairs, luggage racks. Wireless internet is accessible in the room. The location was super, it is maybe 5 minutes into Saranac Lake but there you are in a nice quiet spot on the lake. I was looking for something different from the usual hotel/motel hustle and bustle. We were doing some day hiking and we found it fine for getting to various spots in the area. The B&B has a small but fully equipped kitchen. We were able to put drinks in the fridge, have some tea, make our lunches to take hiking, and we actually made our dinner two of the nights. If it had been a bit nicer, warmer weather we could have eaten outside by the lake. We really thought having the kitchen facilities there was great. Unfortunately we weren't there long enough and the weather was a bit cool to take full advantage of getting out and enjoying the lake location and having a paddle on the lake. I would have liked to do that. I found prices in the Lake Placid area very high, especially with the dollar conversion on top of it. We were lucky to have been able to take advantage of a special rate before the high season. I think I would have to say at full price I would have had to pass it by because we weren't looking to have a very expensive trip, but if you are comparing other options at equivalent price you are certainly getting something unique.

What a gem. A log cabin on Lake Kiwassa. Beautiful room. Great breakfast. If only we could have stayed longer...

My husband & I have been returning to Kiwassa Lake annually for several years. Im admittedly picky & sometimes hard to please - - - but Kiwassa consistently exceeds my expectations & offers an ideal escape in many ways. The home sits on the shoreline of a small, beautiful, peaceful lake with easy access to the larger & absolutely gorgeous Saranac Lake chain. (A day trip to Lower or Upper Saranac in canoe, kayak or small motor boat - all of which are available for rental on property - through several channels & a small manned lock - is magnificently beautiful & not to be missed!) The rooms are quite comfortable & absolutely spotless. (Pike & Eagle rooms offer spectacular views, while Bear & Moose are slightly more spacious.) Margie's breakfasts (served indoors or out, overlooking the lake) are delicious - providing the perfect start to each day! And best of all, the Cochrans have always bent over backwards to make us feel at home while we are with them. Indeed, we have come to feel like part of their family! For the past few years, we have contemplated renting a house to facilitate a longer stay in the Adirondacks - - - but we simply cant find anything as beautiful or comfortable as Kiwassa Lake B&B. We may one day find the perfect rental home, but we will always return to visit our friends at Kiwassa!

This was an amazing setting for a B&B. We don't typically enjoy B&B's, something odd about staying in someones home you know? But here, the rooms are quiet, comfortable and beautiful and the view is breathtaking! Lake, woods, fresh air...if you're in to this sort of thing then this is the place for you.
5 on September 08, 2008
Clean, quiet and spacious rooms elegantly decorated; fabulous hostess making the most delicious breakfast. Shared guest kitchen is available for those who would rather eat in. Kayaks, canoes, fishing supplies are available right there, so you don't ever need to go to town. Worst part - we couldn't stay there forever.
2.2 on August 24, 2008
On the positive side, the breakfasts were good. However, we really did not feel welcome here. Guests are limited to certain areas of the house and the dock is taken up by a large sea plane that is parked in front of the b&b. There really is very little area for relaxing and enjoying the lake. Also, for the amount of money we were paying for a room, to charge additional money for non-powered boats seems unfair. Be aware that there is a large garage housing construction vehicles very close to this place. We felt like we needed to get away for the day each day rather than enjoying the surroundings.
We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your breakfasts here at Kiwassa Lake Bed & Breakfast. We are sorry that you felt unwelcome because you could not have access to all areas of our home. We built our four bed & breakfast rooms specifically to rent and with that in mind made sure they were over sized and included mini living areas complete with comfy chairs to view television or read a good book. Because we are a smaller bed & breakfast our yard is ample for eight guests to mingle on our decks, porches, docks and lawn areas with picnic tables and benches. Our property encompasses over twenty acres and 1,000 feet of shore front with ample dockage for our small, two-seat float plane. Our equipment garage is not visible being that it is ¼ of a mile from the bed & breakfast building and machinery is never used while guests are present with the exception of snow removal. Complimentary non-motorized boats are offered to all guests who want to take a quick jaunt around the lake but day long usage does require rental. We were quite taken aback by your feeling the need to leave daily when so many of our guests spend their entire day here even bringing in their meals to enjoy on their balcony or out at the picnic tables.
