    FABULOUS first time B&B experience!!!

    November 23, 2010

My boyfriend and I decided to get away for a weekend to Upstate NY. I did so much research to find the perfect place because this would be the first time we've stayed at a b&b. I wanted a vintage looking place, with a working fireplace, that didn't scream cheesy or old and musty. We met Lori(and her too cute baby Charlie), she informed us we were the only guests there that evening(Friday) and that breakfast would be served whenever we wanted the next morning. She let us explore the house and check out the other rooms. We stayed in the George West room as its the only one with a working gas fireplace. It was decorated well, clean, there was plenty of space for our stuff and the bed...ooh the bed! Lori let us into the room and the lights were dimly lit, the fireplace was ablaze and there was music softly playing. She brought us some wine, chatted with us about dinner suggestions, gave us a map with very good directions and left us feeling very happy with our choice. We spent a lovely weekend in Saratoga Springs and enjoyed our stay at the Mansion. Shannon(I think was her name) made a very delicious breakfast for us on Saturday morning and Rick...I'd like to bring him home with me! He's a phenomenal cook and such a sweet and funny guy!!! I would HIGHLY recommend The Mansion to anyone looking for a b&b in Saratoga Springs. Both my boyfriend and I look forward to going back sometime in the very near future. Thanks so much to the staff for a great experience!!!

I haven't been to this B&B for a couple of years, but I remember a very positive experience. Room was adequate, breakfast was outstanding, staff was friendly and helpful and lastly they had a wine and cheese gathing in the afternoon. What a great way to spend an hour or two.

    marvelous mansion

    August 21, 2009

We wanted to enjoy Saratoga Springs, but wanted to get away from the noise and bustle of town, and the Mansion was a perfect choice. A real departure from everyday life. Chef Rick's breakfast was an incredible gastronomic goumet feast every morning. The grounds might benefit from some professional landscaping, but otherwise, the interior was spectacular. Thanks very much for taking good care of us!

    Perfect.

    August 04, 2009

We had our wedding at the Mansion in May, and everything was just perfect. Every single person who worked at and with the Mansion was attentive to our every need, whether it was the type of scones we liked in the morning or the timing of the ceremony. Whether it is for a wedding or just a romantic weekend getaway (which we have also done there), the Mansion is a great spot near enough but far enough away from the bustle of downtown Saratoga.

    George West Room

Painted in a deep shade of maroon with cream molding this room was the breakfast room in 1866. Today it features a French chestnut 19th Century queen bedroom set, a matching marble dresser, mirrored armoire and a private bath. The West room is located on the first floor just off the library for easy access. The multi-wood parquet floor is partially covered by a beautiful oriental rug with the original four-arm Waterford chandelier hanging above the bed. On the west wall of the room is a massive white marble fireplace flanked by two 8' windows. The feel of this wonderful room is both warm and romantic. It's a very special place that would be perfect for an anniversary, birthday celebration or a bottle of Champagne with the person you adore.

    Balls Town Room

Located on the first floor just off the grand foyer, this is the most "cozy" room in the house. This room was once the dining room for the Mansion staff and is hidden in a secret hideaway. The private bath for this room is located up the back staircase, which is just outside the bedroom door. The room features a 14' ceiling, a very unusual 1860 Victorian cottage style full bed grain painted in a floral motif it has a matching dresser. The lighting is the original Waterford fixture and the 8' window looks out on the west gardens of the property.

    Saratoga Room

Formally the kitchen of the Mansion, this large room has been converted into one of the most popular rooms of the house. Decorated with period wall covering it features a magnificent four-poster king size bed (that you will need to climb into), a matching dresser, and private bath with a Jacuzzi tub. This room is located on the first floor of the Mansion right off the formal dining room and has a large outside deck perfect for morning coffee or late afternoon cocktails.

    San Souci Room

Look out any of the front windows and view the millstream from this magnificent southern exposure room. Its 14' ceilings are perfect for the commanding mahogany king size four-poster bed that the room features. An original bedroom of the Mansion, the walls are painted dark and rich to compliment the gold and silver tones of the bedding. One of the most interesting furniture pieces in the Mansion is the Victorian Empire style mirrored triple armoire on the north wall of the room. As with all rooms the San Souci has a private bath, but this room also features a cast iron claw foot tub & shower.

    Canfield Room

Guests love the opulence of the second floor Canfield room. Painted cool Wedgwood blue, the Canfield is an original Mansion bedroom with 14' ceilings, private bath and a 19th century, walnut Victorian queen size bed with matching dresser. This room, like the San Souci, faces the old mill and pond offering great windows with southern exposure. The Waterford chandelier located in this room is set in an especially interesting ceiling medallion. You eyes will be drawn to the room's eastern wall featuring a unique marble fireplace and a portrait of a rather portly nobleman.

    Artesian Room

Located on the western side of the 2nd floor, the Artesian room is the most private room of the Mansion. An original bedroom, it includes a private bath, 14' ceilings, Waterford chandelier and cream colored floral wall covering. Not only does this room have a very masculine 19th century Victorian queen size bed and dresser, but also a companion twin bed for that extra person. As the room is on the quiet side of the Mansion, our guests find that the Artesian is a great room for those who love to sleep late.

    Excelsior Room

On the east side of the 2nd floor of the Mansion, this bedroom room looks down on the fountain and gardens and is a knockout. The 14' ceiling, golden walls and white marble fireplace become a backdrop for the 19th Century high Victorian and quite decadent queen bedroom set. The distinctive black set is hand painted with a floral and gold leaf design. The over-mantel is Victorian East Lake and wonderfully reflects the two-arm Waterford chandelier. As

    Kayaderosseras Suite

On the second floor we have combined two rooms in the rear of the Mansion into a very comfortable and romantic suite with private bath. The front bedroom offers a queen sized four poster bed with a paddle fan to keep a cool breeze always blowing. Walk through a companionway to a second bedroom also featuring a queen sized bed. Both rooms are decorated in deep olive and gold colors with a full bath located off the second bedroom. Since these rooms are in the rear of the Mansion they will tend to be private and quiet. It's a perfect accommodation for a family.

    Casswood Room

At the top of the grand staircase you will find the Casswood Suite. This is not the run of the mill queen size bedroom. It features an opulent bed chamber decorated in golds and reds. The bathroom is dramatic and features a jacuzzi tub with French doors that open to second floor private deck.
