    Lovely Gem!

    May 28, 2013

My husband and I stayed at Liberty House in May 2013 and we enjoyed it SO much. The room was nice and comfortable and Irene and Bill were very nice and the perfect hosts! The breakfast in the morning was amazing and then she sent us on the road with the rest of the delicious apple cinnamon muffins she had made from scratch. We'd definitely recommend the Liberty House if you'll be in or near Palmyra. It's in such a historic area and you could feel that being there!

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed my overnight stay at Liberty House. The room was absolutely gorgeous and comfortable. I was welcomed by a perfectly lovely hostess, Irene, who was anxious to make me feel right at home. Breakfast was a three course delight. There was fresh fruit, warm from the oven blueberry muffins, a delicious oven baked omelette, stuffed with cream cheese, spinach and tomatoes served with crusty bread and homemade salsa. Orange juice and dark roast aromatic coffee complimented the delectable meal served in a lovely porcelain tea set. Irene was gracious enough to sit with me, as I was traveling alone, and entertain me with lively conversation. I thouroughly enjoyed my stay and would definately stay there again.

    Fantastic hospitality in Palmyra

    October 15, 2008

My husband, my son and I decided to stay at the Liberty House B & B just based on the list of accommodations given by our church's historical sites website. Irene Unterborn was our hostess and the most gracious ever. We had planned to arrive by 7pm at the latest, but because we left our other place of visit late, we did not arrive in Palmyra until almost 10 pm. We had called Irene ahead of time to tell her of the delay, and she and her husband were the most kind by waiting for us. We had booked the upstairs of the house. There are two very spacious rooms upstairs: one with a double bed and a single, and one with a queen bed. The shared bathroom is huge and well-appointed. The only thing missing was a hairdryer, but then I did not ask Irene if one could be borrowed. Upstairs there is also a little retreat/loft with chairs and a chessboard table. Each room has a large closet and a dresser. There is also a shelf filled with books to read. Cable TV is also one of the amenities. Downstairs is a nicely decorated bedroom with a queen bed and a twin and a private bathroom. You can relax in a comfortable living room and we had two wonderful gourmet candlelit breakfasts in the dining room. Irene fixes a different menu every morning and is attentive to details, service and dietary needs. The first morning we had fruit salad, chocolate chip muffins, and a delightful frittata along with hot cocoa and orange juice. The other guests also had coffee. The morning of our departure we had fruit salad, apple muffin tops crunchy with maple sugar grains (delicious with butter and jam), corn pancakes and scrambled eggs with ham. We were so happily full. Irene gives you a key to the house and you come and go as you wish. Liberty House is conveniently located in the heart of Palmyra, walking distance to the downtown and practically next door to the Four churches corner (the only one of its kind in any American village). The house is a beautiful Victorian style house. We will be back.
