Our recent stay at the Orient Inn had one purpose: to forget our daily lives for a few days. We succeeded. Howard and Joan welcomed us as though we were family and made us feel that way for our entire time there. The Inn itself is a huge, rambling farmhouse built in 1906 sited on a pretty property with grand old trees and mature landscaping. It also has a veranda which wraps around three sides of the inn on which you can take breakfast or relax on lounges. Fortunately over the years the varnished woodwork of the inn has not been painted over. It has a glorious patina that only comes with time. The result is a warm ambiance that can't be found in newer construction or in buildings that have been badly renovated. We stayed in a charming room which we understood was the the only one at the inn with its shower down the hall. Of course there was a half bath in our room and the shower room was exclusively for our use. This was handy when my wife and I needed the facilities at the same time. Far from being an inconvenience it reminded us of the fun we had visiting European hotels in our youth. We rose each day to a delicious breakfast. My wife is particularly fond of poached eggs. Joan, a chef trained at the French Culinary Institute, prepared them each day to perfection and served them with a beautiful presentation. Dining was also a wonderful opportunity to chat with other guests. There was a lovely couple visiting from North Carolina who had stayed at Orient Inn several times with whom we had several pleasant conversations. The piece de resistance of our stay was Flower, the inn's resident canine and the cutest dog we have ever met. Flower is the complete embodiment of the Orient Inn: friendly, attractive and accommodating.

The Orient Inn is an amazing place to stay in a very special part of Long Island. I strongly recommend staying for at least two nights. I wish I could have stayed longer. Orient is a like a rare gem which has not changed very much in forty plus years. I plan on going back again. Breakfast was quite special and want to reserve a special dinner in advance next time I go.

My husband and I went to the orient Inn for our 25th wedding anniversary. It was a perfect choice! Joan and Howard are delightful people, the Inn is beautiful and comfortable, the food a gastronomical and visual treat, and the North Fork magnificent. I would love to make the Orient Inn a habit!

Our stay at Orient It inn was so very pleasant. It is really a lovely place. Innkeepers Joan and Howard made it there mission to make sure we were comfortable, relaxed and had a good time. My only comment was that even though clean and comfortable, the rooms lacked a little "character". But I would go back again for the breakfast alone. The omelets were absolutely THE BEST I have ever had. They melted in my mouth. Delicious.

The house is charming and our room was nice. The hosts were welcoming and their dog, Flower, was adorable. The food was absolutely amazing. We had two delicious breakfasts and a dinner of local foods that was exceptional and not expensive. We ordered food earlier in the day with Joan's recommendation of what was in season. It was delightful to have dinner in the Inn after a long day, and it was as good a meal as I've had in fine restaurants in Paris or NYC.

We stayed here over a weekend in winter for a brief respite from the city...we loved the feel of the house and rooms; moreover, when we got stranded, bus-less, Sunday afternoon, the marvelously helpful owners were kind enough to pick us up AND give us a ride into town!

...for my first ever B&B! The staff was courteous and helpful, the rooms were comfortable, and the food was delicious! I would highly recommend this quaint Inn, located just down the road from the wineries, beaches and the town of Greenport.

We stayed at this B & B about 4 years ago. it was our first B & B stay and we enjoyed it so much we now only stay at B & B's. The rooms are very large and so are the beds. The room decor is a little sparse, but it matches the Long Island beach area. Innkeepers were excellent! Very nice people. One day we will have to return to this beautiful B & B.
