After searching for months for a room in Manhattan, I came across this Gem, the Mount Morris House. The Owner made us feel so comfortable even at our first email communication that we booked the Jade suite for our week long Holiday in NYC. This was such a treat that along with all of NYC has to offer made our special trip a memory that we will have for a lifetime. Our wonderful and thoughtful host, Dimitri made us feel so welcomed and comfortable from the first email to the moment we regretfully, left our new home in NYC. There was nothing overlooked, we had everything we needed in our room. We even had 24 hour access to the fully stocked pantry with a large selection of tea, coffee and the wonderful home made cake! We also want to thank the lovely housekeeper that had our room made every day, something that is not expected in a guest house at such low rates. The location was also perfect with many choices of restaurants for breakfast and diner, it is also convenient to all public transport with the bus stop right in front and the subway just around the corner 3 blocks, a 5 minute walk and in 10 minutes we were at the center, Times Square. We also had the pleasure of meeting some of the other guests staying there from around the world, who were also very please and felt lucky that they had found the Mount Morris House as we were. We also Plan on visiting their beautiful guest house on the beach on the Greek Island this Summer. Thank You Dimitri for your hospitality, for sharing your Palacio and for making us feel part of your family and not just a bunch of strangers/tourists visiting your beautiful and exiting city had we stayed in a tiny, pricey Hotel room. We are so glad we found you, Peter and Melanie

As a first time visitor to New York I didn't quite know what to expect. Mount Morris House turned out to be the perfect choice. Twenty minutes from Time Square by Metro, ten minutes walk from Central Park in a rather charming area of Harlem. We loved the place. The courtesy as well as the service was outstanding.

My sister and I stayed at Mt. Morris House for 7 days in August, 2011 and it far exceeded our already high expectations. The house and rooms are beautiful, the neighborhood is charming and friendly, and public transportation is close and reliable. We walked all over the neighborhood at all hours, and found everyone to be so friendly and upbeat. We loved our whole week visiting NYC, but this was definitely the highlight.

We spent two wonderful weeks in this beautiful furnished house. Dimitri helped us whenever help was needed and we enjoyed the delicious breakfast every day. We would really love to come back as soon as possible.

My daughter and I spent 3 nights at MMH in September 2010 and enjoyed our hosts, our room, and our meals. Breakfast each morning with other guests gave us the opportunity to exchange our experiences. Wonderful location with access to transportation to all of the sites. Great restaurants in the area with reasonable prices! We will be back for sure

I go to Manhattan every year and I always stay at Mont Morris. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and very clean. I have been in other hotels, but nothing can top this one. The area is also really nice, with good restaurants nearby. Subway station is close tot the hotel. I really recommend it.

An unobtrusive Victorian brownstone in upper Manhattan houses an respite and retreat from business, play, or travel. The rooms are spacious and elegant, the common spaces comfortable and peaceful. Gorgeously restored private bathrooms add a feeling of luxury. Vasilli, the proprietor is a kind, engaging, wonderful host and brilliant ambassador to Harlem. Even though I was in New York for a brief 36 hours on business, I felt like I had actually traveled and had an experience, rather than feeling shuttled, trammeled and shut-up in a tinder box hole of a retail hotel. Close restaurants, library, museum, and subway station made my short stay easy and fun. As of now, for me, Mount Morris is the only place to stay in New York!

What can one say about MMH without sounding too over the top or overly complimentary....Nothing, because I can honestly say that the entire experience has exceeded my expectations and one should extend compliments when and where they are due! From the moment of our arrival, we were made to feel comfortable and genuinely welcome, not only accommodated! It did not feel like a hotel, but a visit to the home of a long lost relative that warmly & graciously welcomed us into their home which is something from a time long past. We have Vasili & Dimitri to thank for this. They restored Mt. Morris House to the Victorian jewel that it had once been, ensuring that, in addition to the old world style and comforts, all the technological amenities are available, reminding you that we're in the present, and not the past. The location is optimal. VERY close to the city center. Safe. Quiet. Comfortable. Enchanting. And let me not forget to mention that the prices are very reasonable considering all of the above. The rooms were spotless, beautiful, beautiful designed and very comfortable. I've travelled extensively, and I must say that this has been THE nicest surprise to date. I have already started recommending MMH to friends, relatives and colleagues and this is where I will stay in my future visits to Manhattan. With that, I'd like to thank Vasili & Dimitri for the wonderful experience and to let the rest of you know that this is the place to consider and choose if you'd like your visit to NY to be an unforgettable one. Enjoy and have fun!

A beautifully restored Victorian home in Manhattan. Our stay felt very much like being “home in New York”. Vasili, the proprietor welcomed us and immediately made us feel like family. He carried our very heavy luggage to our upgraded suite which was a room fit for royalty. We had a nice view of Mount Morris Park from our Bay windows, a large dressing area with plenty of closet space and drawers, a room with a queen size bed and a living room with two couches. One couch transformed into another queen size bed, which for a sofa bed was really quite comfortable. The bathroom was quite nice with a walk-in shower (no doors or curtains – loved it!); excellent water pressure and hot water. This B&B has a nice mixture of turn of the century and modern living which includes a large flat screen TV with cable and free internet access. Every morning a wonderful breakfast awaits you which is not your typical donut and coffee offering at other hotels. Fresh fruit, quiche, yogurt, bagels, muffins, oatmeal, cold cereal, toast, coffee, tea and OJ were what we encountered during our stay. You join the other guests for breakfast in a beautiful, formal dining room and share tips and information on the previous day’s excursions. This was most definitely one of the highlights of our stay. You felt like you were eating breakfast with the “family” before you went out for the day’s adventures. Vasili made dinner suggestions/reservations for us, arranged for an affordable car and driver, (not a taxi) and gave wonderful suggestions of places to eat or grocery shop very close to Mount Morris House. He made himself available to help in any way he could. You are just a few short blocks from the subway and a bus stop is right outside the B&B. We found it easy to get downtown and a nice place to rest away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. We felt like during our stay we were able to experience what it was like to be a New Yorker. We will be back!
