My husband and I recently stayed at the Washington Irving to check out the Catskill fall foliage. Overall the inn is beautiful. It's in a perfect location, off of a main road, but set back, so there was no street noise, and it's just minutes from Hunter and Windham Mountains. The common areas of the inn were beautifully decorated; I especially loved the bar area and the breakfast/eating area. The breakfasts were very good, but nothing to rave about - we had fresh fruit every morning, with bacon and eggs or pancakes. We stayed in a turret room in the oldest part of the inn. It was a smaller room, which was to be expected, but I'm a clean freak, and the room was definitely in need of dusting. The window shades kept getting stuck and fell out of the hooks - I would recomend getting new ones. We slept with them open in fear of breaking them. Again, overall it was a very pleasureable experience, and after researching all of the inns in the area, I'm confident that we stayed at the nicest one. I would stay there again, if I returned to the area.
