    Signature Dish

Fresh herb and cheese frittata, with warm salsa
Our guests rave about our breakfast! Our chef Clay has taken classes at the French Culinary Institute, so there is a very varied menu each day. The Frittata may include sun-dried tomatoes as well. Side dishes may inlude fresh strawberries with Grand Marnier...the signature liquor of the Stirling House...Grand Marnier. Clay also usually bakes a French country bread to go with this, or the delicious Stirling "House Scones". We pride ourselves on using the slow food method, using as much local and organic produce as possible.

My mother recently passed away on Shelter Island, so this was our first experience at finding accomodations as opposed to staying in the family home. The Stirling House was the next best thing. The room was great; the view of the harbor, with Shelter Island beyond, was wonderful; Clay, our host, was very pleasant and accomodating. We met really nice people at breakfast, also! If we have occasion to return to the area, we will definitely consider another stay at this lovely house.

Stirling House is a true gem! Clay is a mervelous host, knowledgeable about local sights, eats, and activities. The house is beautiful and the lovingly prepared breakfasts made me feel thoroughly pampered in elegance. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!
