Pig Hill Inn

The rooms are beautifully decorated with antiques or in antique style. The building itself is from 1825 with wide floorboards, but all modern amenities, including individual heat/air conditioning in each room. The breakfasts were huge and delicious, with fresh fruit, eggs any style you want them, bacon, etc. Homebaked cake or pie and hot tea are available late in the afternoon every day. My only caveat is that some of the rooms face a busy street, but if you keep the windows closed and a/c on, as the manager recommended, it's quiet enough for sleeping..

Came into the Village to attend an Art Opening that my son, Roger Derrick, was showing in at Gallery 66. I was coming from the Jersey Shore area so I did not want to do a "all-in-one-day" run so I check out the B&B's in this area & came across the Pig Hill Inn. The pic of the room on the Internet was true to what I found & very comfortable & clean. Kind of liked that the bathroom was private & not in the room....really felt like a "home". Had the pleasure of meeting the proprietress Vera Keil & enjoyed casual chatting. Inn Keeper Dave is a wonderful welcoming host & breakfast chef. Really enjoyed coming back to the Inn to a warm, fresh baked pie...Mmmm Good! As for location to surrounding attractions & villages, I loved it. There is much to see & do within a 50 mile radius & after visiting the surrounding villages & hamlets, I would choose Cold Spring-on-the-Hudson & the Pig Hill Inn again. The icing on the cake was that I knew the Gallery was also on Main Street but was pleasantly surprised to realize the windows of my room were directly across the street from Gallery 66. Coming straight from work Friday evening, it was very convenient that they allow for late check-ins. We were greeted by the Dave the innkeeper/chef, who was very pleasant to talk to. He showed us the common room and the dining room which has freshly-baked pie and an assortment of tea, available anytime, before taking us to our room. He even carried our luggage to our room. The place is clean and well kept. All furnishings and decor are tastefully done and every single detail was mulled after. They even have a cute boutique shop in front that doubles as the concierge desk. My wife and I stayed in the Bella Rosa room which is in the front facing the Main Street. The room was nicely appointed and the bed was very comfortable. When the windows are open a nice breeze flows though the room. There are three caveats when staying in this room though. One there is only one layer of curtains on all the windows. We stayed there in the middle of June so the sun starts to rise at around 4:45am. My wife and I kept waking up because of this. The problem was solved by wearing sleeping masks. Second, since this room faces Main Street, there is a bar diagonally across the street that is open till around 3am-4am. If your windows are open, you will hear lots of noise from that bar. Thankfully, my wife and I are heavy sleepers. This problem may be solved by closing the windows and turning on the air conditioning for white noise. Lastly, the bathroom is in the hallway. This may detract some people from choosing this room, but it is private and reserved for the Bella Rosa room. There is a beautiful claw foot tub, very tempting to draw a nice warm bath with. Breakfast is served from 8am to 10am, and it's plentiful and delicious! Vera the proprietor was very nice and accommodating. Overall it was a pleasant stay and it's conveniently located in the center of town. We will most definitely come back and stay at the Pig Hill Inn.

We booked a room at the Pig Hill Inn as an escape from New York City. It is definitely one of the places with more character in the area. We got a lovely welcome from Dave who also recommended an excellent spot for dinner. The hot drinks and pie were welcome and delicious and the breakfast was excellent. The downside was I hadn't realised that our bedroom didn't have an en suite bathroom, so check and take a bathrobe if needed! The room was pretty and comfortable, it did face the street but we didn't find it noisy.

We had a wonderful time at the Pig Hill Inn. My wife and I went to Cold Spring just after our wedding for a mini-honeymoon (planning our main honeymoon for later this year). Service was great, breakfast in bed was fantastic, and the room was cozy. A quiet, relaxed getaway from NYC - exactly what we needed.

Dave is a very nice guy and although I had to leave very early for work (5AM) he still managed to leave coffee, juice, fruit and muffins for me. The room was clean and comfortable and Cold Spring is a nice little town. I highly recommend The Pig Hill Inn. When I go back to Cold Spring NY I will definitely stay there again.

We were looking for a relaxing getaway from NYC to recharge and found it after just a couple days in Cold Spring. Vera is so friendly and Dave even bought us a beer at a neighboring tavern the first day when we were rained in, but needed to get out! We had breakfast delivered to our room each morning and were delighted to have a delicious variety of items on our plates. The muffins were simply the best I've ever tasted! The Pig Hill Inn is sure to be on our list of B&B's we'll visit again.

We received a warm welcome to the inn. The room was large, clean, and fabulously furnished. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi hot tub in our private bath. In the morning, you can request breakfast in the garden sunroom or have it brought up to your room. We recommend doing both. We enjoyed phenomenal spinach and swiss omelets with croissants, fresh fruit, and bacon. The inn is centrally located in town. This is an excellent place to stay. Ask Dave, the innkeeper, for recommendations for dinner and lunch. We'll definitely be heading back soon! Best, H & M

This was our second stay at the Pig Hill Inn and we enjoyed it just as much as the last one! We had the Danish Blue room, which was beautiful and quiet. The breakfasts are amazing! Would definitely recommend a stay here as a weekend escape from NYC.

My girlfriend and I visited Pig Hill Inn for our anniversary and we had a lovely stay here. We appreciated the location of the Inn on Main St, which placed us close to the train station, waterfront, restaurants, and antique stores. What we enjoyed most about our stay was the food and service. We took breakfast in the Victorian Conservatory, which was perfect on a sunny winter day. We looked forward to the freshly baked pie each afternoon, and appreciated the complimentary cups of tea and hot chocolate. The staff was friendly and made sure our stay was comfortable. We hope to visit again in the future!

This very handsome historic brick house provides really good service. Manager David upgraded me to the ensuite Danish Blue room on the second floor, as the inn was not full the cold January weekend of my visit. He also cooked the terrific breakfast and served it early on Sunday to meet my schedule. Owner Vera also was charming and welcoming. I was visiting family in Cold Spring. we stayed two days for our one year anniversary. the pig hill inn is quaint, charming and a little piece of history! the breakfast included was delicious and the staff so very helpful! the only negative was we wished the water pressure better

This was our second stay at the Pig Hill Inn, the other was five yrs ago.We will always be grateful to a guy at the information desk at Grand Central who directed us to Cold Spring as we had wanted to take a journey by train an hour away to a typical American town.On the visit we discovered the Pig Hill Inn and decided on our next visit to America to stay there which we duly did.We always have a warm welcome from vera the owner who treat all the guests in the nine themed bedrooms like old friends and we are allowed free reign to use the house as if it were our own. Both bedrooms we have stayed in have been beautifully thought out with antique furniture and accessories you can purchase. Breakfasts are wonderful and cater for all needs and every afternoon a cake appears to accompany the constant supply of hot water,tea-bags and milk. There is an innkeeper on site to answer any questions and plenty of leaflets are available on local attractions,there are many good restaurants and cafes close at hand,whilst the train station is a few hundred yards down the hill where you can get a train which takes an hour straight into Grand Central. An ideal location with stunning views over The Hudson to the mountains that we have seen in the Fall and with snow recently. We would highly recommend the Pig Hill Hill. Lyn & Steve Daniels

I totally love Pig Hill Inn! I've stayed here at various times for nearly a decade, and Vera's warm hospitality, the charming,comfortable rooms, the yummy breakfast, and the perfect location right in the heart of town and an easy walk from the train station, make this the perfect getaway. Celebrating New Year's Eve at Pig Hill Inn is my husband's and my favorite tradition. This year's celebration was better than ever: two other couples with whom we had chatted at breakfast also booked dinner at a nearby restaurant so we ended up sharing one large table, then went dancing afterwards.

I stayed here one night with my boyfriend, and we had an amazing time. Charming, romantic room with woodburning oven (The Windsong), comfortable bed, quiet, relaxing. Everything we were looking for. The innkeepers are extremely service-minded and nice. We will return.

Although our stay was very short, only 2 nights, we could not have been more pleased. From the wood-stove in the room which provided a lovely, romantic way to heat the room, to the 2-person jacuzzi tub and the view of the valley from the windows, this was by far the best place we could have stayed during our trip. Service was excellent; everyone was helpful, and breakfast was made to order.

Having been brought up in the area, I can say that Cold Spring is nit a hub of technology. That being said, Pig Hill does notnhave tv's in the rooms. No problem, I could use my laptop for tv, except that the inn's router would go off line from time to time. No night manager on site, meant that you had to call someone to reboot the router. However, there were no landline phones in the rooms, either. So, when the Pig Hill wifi was out, I didn't have a working cell phone either (no Sprint service). Otherwise, room and service was great. Would go back. Just wish I could access the router when a reboot was needed.

We had a completely lovely experience. Warm blueberry pie was waiting for us on our arrival. The general areas of the inn as well as our room were much nicer than the online pictures.

We only spent one night, but it was just the thing for relaxing. With no TV or phone, and with a Duraflame in the wood-burning stove, we could pretend we were living in Victorian times. Quiet, peaceful, in a lovely period room. Breakfast was wonderful, and there were cookies and warm pie put out in the early evening. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

The Pig Hill Inn was an excellent downtown Cold Spring B&B. The staff was wonderful, rooms were beautiful and clean, and the breakfast was great.

We had a wonderful stay in the Pig Hill inn. The place itself is lovely, our room beautiful. The breakfast was amazing and especially as we are gluten free and the inn keeper made a special effort to accommodate and cook special stuff. This is unusual! The Pig Hill Inn was AWESOME. The staff was so friendly, accommodating. They explained everything upon arrival and showed us to our room. The wood burning stove was so nice and made the room very cozy. The option to have breakfast brought to the room was GREAT. Both mornings we were brought an amazing spread. Lots to choose from. The only thing I might suggest is that they update the photos on their website or include more photos for each room. We peaked into the other rooms which were even lovelier than the photos on the web. We might have chosen a different room if they looked the way they did in person as opposed to the web. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend staying at the Pig Hill Inn.

The Pig Hill Inn is about 3 blocks from the Metro-North train, so that's a huge plus if you don't drive! The house- in fact the town is very vintage and cute. It almost feels like you have traveled back in time to a simpler place, where you have your 3 key restaurants, favorite antique shops, and nature to escape to. The mountains were beautiful, and made for a nice hike. The Inn was cozy, clean, with really good service. The breakfast every morning was awesome! The snacks - cakes and pie throughout the day were also awesome! Only flaw was that the room we were staying in had the bathroom outside of the room, in the hallway. That was awkward. Can't remember the name of the room but it was the one on the second floor, without a fireplace. Also - the house is old and so the walls are thin and the floors creaky. That was not ideal for our particular needs :) but it was still very private nonetheless. Definitely do it!

The Pig Hill has fantastic rooms decorated in an original fashion. Each is different and wonderfully detailed. Pie is served in the dining room in the afternoon, and the staff members are friendly and very accommodating without being intrusive. We'll be back.

My friend and I were looking for an overnight getaway from the city, and Pig Hill was the perfect place to unwind during our trip to Cold Spring. Dave went above and beyond to accommodate us - I won't go through everything, but to give an example, he put the fireplace on in the parlor for us to enjoy, since our room didn't have one. We stayed in the Country Sunrise room, and it was very comfortable. The entire place felt like home - warm and cozy. We chose to have our breakfast in the lovely greenhouse, and it was delicious (I wish I would have asked where the coffee was from!). We were given plenty of options - I went for the waffles, and my friend had fluffy scrambled eggs which she loved. All of the sides were good, too. We were also happy to discover that it was very walkable from the train, right on Main Street, and close to all of the shops and restaurants we wanted to check out. We are so grateful for what this place added to our trip, and will definitely be back in the future!

A very nice Inn in the center of a picturesque town on the Hudson. The Innkeeper was cordial and made every effort to make our stay a plesant one. The fresh pies in the afternoon was a nice touch.

I surprised my boyfriend with a one-night stay here for his birthday and we loved it. We stayed in the Tranquility room, which was every bit as cozy and inviting as it looks in the pictures; the wood burning stove added to the romantic feel of the rom and the jacuzzi was a lovely treat after a long day of hiking Mt. Taurus. Everything was spotlessly clean; I'm very finicky about cleanliness so I made sure of that. I was worried about noise because the room is right on Main Street but it was very quiet, except for about five to ten minutes around 2 AM when a garbage truck made its pickup rounds on the street. The noise didn't bother us in the least but if you want total peace and quiet you may prefer a room not overlooking Main Street. We opted for breakfast in our room and were very pleased to be treated to a delicious spread of eggs, toast, waffles, bacon, sausages, freshly baked muffins, coffee, juice and fresh fruit ...definitely not the Continental breakfast I expected. In addition, we were offered freshly made blueberry pie when we arrived which was very tasty and made us feel at home. Service was courteous and attentive but not overly friendly. I live in NYC so I'm used to that and actually feel more comfortable with that sort of politely aloof service but I can see how it might be off-putting for some. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pig Hill Inn and are looking forward to staying there again soon!

The Pig Hill Inn was a big part of what made our quick little getaway so perfect. We took the train north, Inn was two blocks from the train. Get selection of restaurants right out side the front door. Really great. Want to go back.

Our room was very comfortable. The breakfasts were superb and the late night pies were a special treat.

Breakfast was really good. Waitress was really helpful and fun. We loved the little extras like the cookies and homemade apple pie. It felt like a home from home. Hard to beat!

We went up for one night and were so happy. They greeted us with a bottle of champagne (we had ordered it beforehand), there was a pie waiting for us when we got back from a long walk in the woods, and our room had a claw foot tub! It was a lovely night.

The innkeepers and staff couldn't be nicer, but the room we were in was small and fusty rather than cozy, and dark/dim due to small windows and inadequate lighting to compensate. We stayed in "Enchantment" as we were traveling with our daughter and this is the only room large enough for a cot, but it isn't really large enough for a cot. If you are a couple, the room is probably large enough, but if you are traveling w/kids you'd probably be better off at one of the chain hotels nearby.

Vera, Dave, & Co at Pig Hill hosted an entire bridal party and all of the groomsmen over a long weekend. The rooms were perfect and cozy and the Pig Hill folks could not have a been more accommodating to a rowdy (at times), crazy, and scattered bunch. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and how can you beat blueberry pie left out at night for the guests to dig into at will?? We'll be back.

I can't give the "value" more than 3 stars, or review "dining," simply because my wife and I only stayed one night and the stars for dining are really for breakfast. Everything we experienced was terrific: the clean and pleasant room, an excellent breakfast in the backyard that alone made us want to come back and laze around in the sunshine. Of the three rooms on our floor, one has its assigned bathroom out on the landing. This was the room we got, and even though the bathroom is not shared, it's a bit awkward to have to dress just to dart there, in case someone sees you. This is not the fault of the inn, but in the future we'll try to reserve early enough to ensure we get a room with the bathroom inside. The staff were friendly and helpful - and there were fresh home-made pies offered, on the house, each day! We hope to stay at the Pig Hill Inn again.

The decor of the inn was beautiful. The staff was courteous and extremely helpful; they bent over backwards to make my stay pleasant. The room exceeded my expectations;the breakfast was out of this world and there was not a speck of dirt anywhere. They put the customers first.

This Inn on the hill approaching the Hudson River is always consistent. The innkeeper and owner are there everytime I stay there and are both hospitable in the best sense of the word. The breakfast is lovely and since I often have to leave early in the morning, Dave makes accommodations for me so I get a very nice breakfast before I head out.

What a wonderful stay we had with friends at Pig Hill this weekend. Every amenity is thoughtfully offered. Look out for warm blueberry pie cut for your enjoyment when you return from an evening out.

We stayed here on the recommendation of a friend and I just told him how grateful we are! We loved the blue room and the bathroom was so nice. The breakfasts were some of the best we have ever had at a B & B and we stay at them whenever we travel. We were so pleased, we stayed another day! and went to the Shakespeare theatre( great) but the room wasn"t quite as nice as the first night. The bathroom was very small and it. was on the 3rd floor.. Vern(sp), the owner is wonderful and se helpful with directions and sugestions. This was the most sensational location; just a couple minutes walk from the train station and right in the middle of downtown. The rules clearly state that there is a hefty fine for anyone caught smoking in the rooms, so that was a big relief due to our smoke allergies. Dave was managing the inn during our stay and what a fantastic host he was! We had a night working schedule at the time and he went EXCEEDINGLY far out of his way to make sure we were able to wake up and eat when it was the most convenient for us. We absolutely plan on returning.

Stayed at the Pig Hill Inn for one night for our anniversary. What a lovely place. The staff were very welcoming and once we had been shown where we could have breakfast, either in the conservatory or outside in the garden, we were taken to our room. The Tranquillity room is lovely with a large jacuzzi bath and four poster bed. There is coffee making facilities and cake that you can help yourself to which you can have in the main reception area of the inn or take it to your room. A great place to stay and would definitely go back again, maybe when its colder so we can have the log burning stove on that was in our room!

The Inn was wonderful. The owner and his associates were very customer-oriented. The breakfast was great! One suggestion, my daughter and I are early risers, i.e., 6:30; a coffee set up would have been very welcomed, as we went out each morning for coffee, since breakfast began at 8:30 am. We are definitely going back!

We enjoyed an exquisite breakfast in the observatory served on pretty china, surrounded by glass windows and a lovely chandelier. Loved the town of Cold Spring as well!

Our only regret was staying just one night at the pig hill inn. Simply put, it was perfect. The room was extremly well kept and had its own quaint little charm. The service staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was more than I could have expected. Pancakes, omlette, bacin, sausage and the best jelly you'll ever have. It was all delish. Highly recommend, would stay again.

Pig Hill Inn and I were made for each other. Having grown up in Cold Spring, I have seen the lovely and wonderfully classic changes that have been made in my homegrown town on the Hudson. The Pig Hill Inn is no exception. Beautifully restored and elegantly decorated, the Inn took me back to home to the Cold Spring I have always loved. The hospitality, the elaborate breakfasts and service, the heated towels, the canopy bed and tranquility all intertwined with one another for a beautiful experience. I stayed at the Inn during my return to Cold Spring for my book signing at a local gift shop up Main Street. Pig Hill Inn is added to my list of old Cold Spring friends to visit with when I return home.

The Pighill is a charming place to stay in a delightful location; and a MUST go-to getaway for anyone who does not wish to drive. Location is a short, easy walk up the hill from the RR. Down the hill at the river in Coldspring you feel transported into a Hudson River Painting. Friendly helpful staff at the Inn and tasty cookies and tea are a plus. With a car it is a short distance to Boscobel - grounds, house tour and Drama Festival.

Have stayed here many times. Location, rooms, quality of breakfast and service are among the best I've seen in the Hudson Rver vally.

We stayed 3 nights in hot weather. The AC was just right. A very pleasant inn.

A lovely B&B in a charming town. The service was warm and friendly and the rooms cozy with antique touches. The only downside is that one hears much of what is happening outside the room in the hallway thus making it feel slightly less private. We had really nice time there and wished we could have stayed longer.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for the weekend (yes, the Pig Hill Inn is gay-friendly, a plus). Our room was quaintly decorated and the big 4-poster bed was heaven--we both slept like babies. The staff (all 3 of them) was very helpful, attentive, and friendly. The homemmade breakfast both mornings was delightful--fresh and hit the spot. We dined in the lovely greenhouse (if it's not too hot out, recommend dining outside in their garden). The homemade baked treats laid out mid-afternoons were perfect as post-hiking/kayaking or late-night snacks. Dave's glazed lemon cake was awesome (you could taste the zest). The inn was the perfect relaxing spot for our weekend getaway. I would recommend this B&B to my friends and would happily stay here again for any return trips to Cold Spring.

Outstanding location for a visit to the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival -- as well as all the terrific local attractions (Beacon, Dia, etc.). Delightful innkeeper; excellent breakfast; warm welcome and excellent suggestions for local attractions. One afternoon they served a memorably wonderful blueberry pie with tea.

I thoroughly enjoyed my one night stay at the Pig Hill Inn. The reception was warm, the room was cozy and clean, breakfast was excellent, and the owner and manager both gave me rides to places I wanted to vist so that I didn't need to call a taxi. A remarkably inviting space. The innkeeper is uniquely generous and able to make personal accommodations and give great advice at the drop of a hat. Would happily stay again.

We come to Cold Spring each summer and have now stayed at the Pig Hill Inn two years in a row. We absolutely LOVE this B&B! Vera is very kind and attentive... she even offered to drive us to a show we were going to. I highly recommend staying here if you're going to be in Cold Spring. You will not be disappointed.

My wife and love trips to Cold Spring- beautiful scenery, cute town, great hikes and pleanty to do. The Pig Hill Inn is in a great location on Main Street in town. Our room was clean and nice and the breakfast areas were perfect- we loved eating on the patio outside. The afternoon baked goods werte fantastic. The breakfasts were nice and pletntiful, but nothing too special ( not that I am complaining). The service was fantastic, very friendly. Vera ( the owner) went out of her way to provode us with items we needed for a picnic taht we dod not ahve with us. We will definitely stay there again.

PHI in perfectly located in the heart of Cold Spring, walking distance to trains, yet not noisy. Rooms are comfortable, furnished with a CS antiquity feel. Books are everywhere. Best is the breakfast, starts with fresh fruit, then several choices cooked to order...delicious! Hosts are friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The hosts were welcoming and helpful. The inn as a wonderful outdoor space for breakfast which is quiet and far away from any street noice even though the inn itself is in the middle of Cold Springs.

It was a wonderful stay as usual. This is our 2nd year staying at the Pig Hill and I only have great things to say. From the service, to the food, it's all great! Vera is so pleasant and nice and a treat to work with.

This place is uber charming - made so especially by the genuine warmth of the owner and the people who work there. Breakfast was great... the little pig decoration details are sweet... I would stay there again in a heartbeat. I also love the town and the nearby Stonecrop Gardens - don't miss those!!

I stayed in the Mountain View room on the third floor. The room itself was lovely – very bright and clean. The two chairs in there were SUPER comfortable. They were great spots to read and relax. It has a detached bathroom but it is private, so it was only used by me. I was disappointed that bathrobes were not provided. The bathroom lock was faulty. I was able to spin it both directions and it didn’t seem to catch properly. Eventually, I would use the bathroom and not lock the door because I was scared of getting locked in. The bathroom had a claw foot bathtub that was really awkward. I had a hard time climbing in and out – so if you have any mobility issues – this is not the room for you. My bathroom just seemed dingy and in need of repair. For example, behind the toilet tank there was an area of the dry wall that had been replaced but never painted to match the rest of the wall. You can’t really hear any noise from the street so it is very quiet. There is a little bar on the first floor but I never saw the inn keeper or owner at night in case you did want to buy a glass of wine – I’m not sure if it was self-serve and honor system with paying? The living room/common area space is not very large and is a bit dark. The Inn is a smoke free inn but there was cigarette smoke coming up from the basement. The breakfasts were decent. I had an omelet one day and waffles the next. The bacon is pretty amazing. The owner, Vera, is very nice but she is not on premises. The inn keeper, David, was around mainly for breakfast. They are very knowledgeable about the area and had recommendations for food and directions to get to local attractions. The dining area has separate seating and you can eat outside if you choose. The outside was also nice. All in all the inn is decent and you cannot beat the location. Right on Main street with all the shops, restaurants and the pier within walking distance.

The rooms are charmingly rustic with a wood burning fireplace, air conditioning, very good bathroom facilities and stall shower. The bed was comfortable and the room was rustic but inviting. Downstairs is a ;living room with comfortable chairs, warm cookies, coffee and teas and muffins. Behind the building is a newer greenhouse in which a complete cooked breakfast is served by people who enjoy taking care of guests. Behind the greenhouse is a garden with tables and chairs to enjoy a balmy evening. Bottom Line: We would happily stay there again.

We stayed in the Danish Blue Room and the website indeed underplays its charm and beauty. Everything about the room was comfortable and inviting (would have preferred a larger bathtub). The breakfast was so incredibly delicious, better than anything I expected. Service was welcoming and first rate.

This place was the R&R we needed..............Dave and Vera were excellent hosts. The Pig Hill Inn is a 5 minute walk from the train station. And right next to the Hudson with great hiking and water activities. Will come again soon...........

My family recently took over the Pig Hill Inn as we attended a Memorial Celebration in Cold Spring. Vera and Dave took great care of us, making sure we were all comfortable. The rooms are charming and spacious. We had delicious made-to-order breakfasts each morning. The afternoon tea and dessert was always a surprise and delicious. We loved the outdoor patio where we could sit over tea or a glass of wine and enjoy a great family reunion. You can manage quite well without a car at the Pig Hill Inn. It is located just minutes from the train to New York.but you can have hours of fun in the shops and restaurants of Main Street.

This was my second stay at the Pig Hill Inn. In many ways it is an ideal place: comfortable, clean, perfect location on Main Street close to the waterfront. Not fussy or too frilly as so many inns can be, it has a slightly worn quality appropriate to a place in an old building, in an old town. The people who work here are low-key but helpful and quite friendly. Once you check in, it's a short stroll to relax in the waterfront park (maybe with an ice-cream cone or shake from Moo's), poke into the shops along Main, or have a great dinner at any of several nearby restaurants. There's also plenty of hiking and kayaking awaiting as well. Cold Spring is a special place to me and the Pig Hill Inn is where I will always stay.

My wedding was on May 12, 2012 in Garrison, NY, and my now-husband and I, along with most of our wedding party, took over the Pig Hill Inn for the weekend. I could not have been any happier with the property or with the service we received. All of the rooms were comfortable and unique, and the common areas were lovely. Best of all, the breakfast was out of this world! Freshly baked muffins and scones, delicious eggs made to order, sausage, bacon - the works. We also loved the fresh cake that the inn put out in the afternoons and the tea that was always ready. The innkeepers and staff were very sweet and unobtrusive, but always there when we needed anything. A wonderful place to stay!

This charming bed and breakfast provides a wonderfully romantic getaway combining the beautiffully scenic Cold Spring community with great shops, restaurants and bars all in walking distance and nearby touring attractions and incredible views of the Hudson River and mountains. The inn is beautifully furnished, quiet and private. We stayed in the Tranquility room which was spacious and romantically cozy with amazing jacuzzi and wood burning stove. The staff was incredible, helpful but respectful of our privacy. The breakfast was amazing. All in all a great opportunity for a short break from the routine of daily living and time to relax and enjoy quality time together.

We only stayed one night but wished it could have been more. We were well lokked after and the breakfast was not only fulfilling but most enjoyable.

The Pig Hill Inn in Cold Spring, NY is a charming place to stay. The staff is lovely and go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are spotless. My only frustration was small -- the wireless internet was a little spotty. But honestly, that was probably my own fault, as I didn't let anyone know. I'm sure they would have done something to fix it quickly. I recommend this inn, and I would stay there again.

This was my second stay at the Pig Hill Inn and it gets better every time i stay here. The room was ready for our unexpected early check in and a homemade apple pie had just been placed in the pantry for guests to snack on. Breakfast is unbelievably generous and can be had in the solarium or privately in your room. Overall, a lovely gem of a B&B in a beautiful area of the Hudson Valley.

The Pig Hill in is perfectly located, the room was comfortable and quiet. The real plus to this B&B is the lovely welcoming feeling, the host is friendly and makes amazing pie which is left out for guests to 'snack' on. The breakfast was equally wonderful, great portions, perfectly cooked...could not be better. A highly recommended experience.

We went back to the Pig Hill Inn after getting engaged there 11 years ago. It was as nice as ever, after all that time. It's charming and the service is lovely.

It's a great place. This was our third stay and while the breakfast wasn't as good this time, there was a warm blueberry pie to eat when we arrived (free) and the folks are really nice. Go there.

I thought our stay at the inn was great; everything was done perfectly, it was very charming and the people were great too and it was very good bargain as far as B&Bs go. The fireplace in the room, wow, that part really hits it on the mark ... a very cute B&B, and both B's, especially the second B was/were great too. Would highly reccomend, would return.

My wife and I have been coming to the Pig Hill Inn for weekend getaways from New York City for 3 years now, and we absolutely love it. First off, the trip from the city is as easy as can be--take the train up from Grand Central and walk literally 2 blocks to the inn. The town is lovely, with numerous shops for everything from antiques to toys to clothes and a good mix of eateries--from french bistro to italian food to take-out Chinese food. The surrounding environs are beautiful, with the river just at the end of main street, numerous hiking trails and paths just outside of town, West Point nearby--just a beautiful part of New York State. Now focusing on the inn itself, the staff is incredibly warm and helpful but not intrusive--if you want a private weekend away, they are more than happy to facilitate that. The breakfasts are wonderful--eggs, sausage/bacon, and either frnech toast or waffles or pancakes or any combination of the above, along with fresh juice, fresh fruit, coffee, muffins. There is also always tea and coffee available in the pantry at any hour and a fresh pie or cake or brownies or such set out every afternoon at tea-time-ish. The rooms are beautiful, we always stay in "Tranquility" on the top floor with a canopy bed, wood-burning stove, and en-suite bath with 2-person jacuzzi tub. This room is lovely, though I have peeked into other s and they all seem just as nice. Overall, for the price and the convenience of access from the city, this place can't be beat and makes for a wonderful romantic weekend getaway in any season.

Packed with interesting antiques, art and memorabilia of all sorts, our stay at Pig Hill Inn was enlivened by exceptional service from check-in through hearty breakfast and even including brushing snow from our car windows as we departed into the dregs of a spring storm. An excellent place to stay, it is near fine dining and numerous points of interest.

Although the room was a bit smaller than what we are use to, our stay At "Pig Hill Inn" was everything a romantic getaway should be. We had a beautiful romantic canopy bed, control of the thermostat that kept our room at just the right temp for us. We like it a bit on the cool side. The Inn keeper was gracious, friendly & helpful. We had a gorgeous bathroom. The bathroom jacuzzi made the day! It was awesome to relax in there together. The breakfast was great. Although I tend to not use salt, I found the omelet to be salty. But that's my personal taste. Otherwise the blueberry pancakes were excellent. Although they were totally booked, the inn was quiet & peaceful. The place was immaculate. Each time we went out our room was cleaned, linens & towels changed. We were on the third floor, which made for a nice walk up which we quickly got use to. The atrium where breakfast was served was cozy and so cute. I loved the chandelier. We had a great time discovering the quaint town of Cold Springs & I did some really nice shopping, The only thing I can complain about was that the downstairs main sitting area was too warm. It was a small space with the fireplace running all day. Which for my taste kept it overheated. Again, that is my personal opinion, since I tend to like a cooler room. There were people sitting & reading there that looked perfectly comfortable. All in All, I would rate our Romantic Week-End Getaway - Excellent.

Went up for a Sunday to Monday trip. Had a great time. The staff was small (one lady), but she was so nice and accommodating. The pie and breakfast were superb. Overall, it was a great value for a sweet place. Would recommend to anyone.

This is a wonderful, and wonderfully run, B&B. Vera saw to us for our two night stay recently and she was nothing but overtly pleasant, welcoming and helpful. We were looking for a place to unplug from city life for a few days and this was just the place. The breakfasts, served in your room should you choose, are absolutely outstanding. It's a charming old building in a charming old town.

Great respite for a weekend away from NYC. Quick trip, quaint town and fantastic place. Food was delicious, always fresh baked goods to much on during the day, cookies, pies, bundt cake. GREAT! The owners were friendly and answered any questions we had. Will definitely return soon!

Beautiful, cozy house with lots of books and unusual odds and ends, some of them for sale; also very pretty & funky items in the gift shop. Great service, amazing breakfasts, definitely enough for a major hike each day! No TVs (fine with me!), but free Wifi was handy. And very convenient to shopping and restaurants in Cold Spring.

Our stay was wonderful in this adorable b&b in this quaint little town. We had a romantic weekend. The restaurants in the are mediocre at the very best. The inn was lovely and the breakfast the next day delicious! We would definitely go back.

Pig Hill Inn was recommended to me by someone with discriminating taste, so the bar was set high. Thankfully I wasn't disappointed by anything except the breakfast. The room was spacious and lovely, it was a very nice, comfy and clean inn and the location was absolutely perfect to getting around town. Breakfast was not satisfactory, unfortunately. The portions were a bit meager to be honest (and we aren't a couple who overeats) and it was a bit on the flavorless side. It was also cooked way too quickly to be fresh. That being said, it was fine - I just had much higher expectations. It would absolutely not deter us from staying here again and again. We had a great weekend there!

I booked the Victorian Room for my fiance's birthday and we were very pleased. The inn keeper suggested a very nice restaurant for us around the corner and we returned to champagne in the room. Very cozy place with an excellent breakfast, also in bed, next to a wood fired stove. We only wished checkout was later than 11am.

Our stay at The Pig Hill Inn was wonderful. We stayed in the Enchantment room and it was lovely. The jacuzzi tub was especially nice!!! And the woodburning stove was wonderful. We will stay here again if we stay overnight in Cold Spring again! Great service all the way around and a delicious breakfast to boot!

We recently spent 2 delightful nights at the lovely Pig Hill Inn. It is our favorite getaway from NYC. Very convenient to get to by train. Cold Spring is a very nice little town. Vera is very warm, friendly and gracious --with a great sense of humor. The accommodations are wonderul and thr breakfasts are delicious. There is always a baked dessert waiting for you when you return to the inn in the late afternoon. Have been to the Pig Hill several times and can't wait to go back.

Extremely comfortable and welcoming -- really an inn, so you don't feel like you're intruding on anyone. It's an old house, so a lot of sound carries from room to room, but if everyone is respectful, it's fine. The breakfast was absolutely delicious -- omelettes made to order, bacon, sausage, fresh muffins, fresh pancakes, the works! To watch a sporting event in the evening, we had to go downstairs to find a TV, but that was fine.

Staying at the Pig Hill Inn was a pleasure. We stayed in the "Victorian Elegance" room and everything was top notch. I can't recommend it enough!

We spent two nights at Pig Hill Inn in winter 2012. Breakfast was perfect - delivered to the room - even for my gf who is allergic to gluten. Perfectly located on Main Street. Solid WiFi, lobby fire place, big bath tubs and very friendly staff.

The Pig Hill Inn is an easy train ride from NYC and a very short walk from the Cold Spring train station. It was great not to need a car. We loved the rooms, food and service. Right in the middle of town so easy to shop and go out for a meal but still quiet and relaxing. We will definitely return!

Visited for my girlfriends' birthday. What a wonderful little town and inn. Dave was so incredibly helpful. We didn't arrive until almost 9 pm on a thursday, after most of the town was closed up. He offered to call the local restaurants for us so that we would still be able to find dinner. Can't wait to go back!

My girlfriend and I recently stayed here for a weekend; we don't drive, so we needed a place that was close to the Metro North. The Pig Hill Inn is about 200 ft from the station, which is convenient. The moment we walked in, we were in a different world. The staff was courteous, funny, and extraordinarily accommodating. The room was fantastic; the bed was beautiful and very comfortable, and we had our own wood-burning stove which they'd pre-stocked with logs. Cold Spring is a VERY small town but offers some great restaurants, and the Pig Hill Inn was a fantastic spot to come home to. We will DEFINITELY be staying there again; the breakfast alone was worth the price!!

Basically everything was lovely and the breakfasts were spectacular. Our only complaint was that there seemed to be a lot of people milling about who weren't staying in the Inn which made for a less than relaxing environment.

Conveniently located in downtown, steps from the station. Comfortable rooms. Design is homey, if a little mixed up. Service is attentive, including an extensive breakfast that includes hot muffins. Features a wine bar in the living room!

We've stayed twice at the Pig Hill Inn since October and plan to return on a regular basis. We found the rooms to be cozy and romantic, and food delicious and the innkeepers warm and courteous. No phones or tv in the rooms, which makes it a great place to relax, unwind, and reconnect with a loved one.

Our schedule and the Inn availability aligned this year and we finally got a chance to stay there and enjoy a wonderful weekend in early November. Dave and Vera were very helpful in helping us pick a room, even accommodating a schedule change. The Victorian Elegance room was perfect; a Franklin Stove in the room and a clawfoot tub in the bathroom provided romantic amenities. The breakfasts were five star with fresh local ingredients. Fresh baked goods were available in the afternoon for snacks. All this and a convenient train ride from New York made it easy to leave the car at home. We will be back for sure.

Our first night there was no power and they were kind enough to upgrade us to a room with a fire place. The beds were quite uncomfortable and we woke up with back pains. Breakfast was yummy but, as a coffee drinker we found the coffee to be quite bland. Other than that the inn was absolutely charming, very clean, and the staff very helpful and friendly. I would definitely return and pick another room for fun! :-)

I came here for two nights when the contractor took my entry, stairs and bathroom out of commission. I also stayed here years ago when I was living in New York City. What a treat! The bed was perfect - and I have trouble with beds as a rule; the tub was so deep I took two baths; and I lit a fire in the wood-burning stove both nights. I knew from previous stays that the breakfasts are the best in Cold Spring, but I had to leave at 6:00 a.m. for work. So the Inn left a wrapped, homemade muffin on top of the coffee maker, and butter, jam, and a fruit bowl in the tiny fridge nearby. All I had to do was push the button to start the coffee and eat. (The coffee maker's heat warmed the muffin, by the way!) A nurturing place in a charming village. Highly recommended.

The service is warm and welcoming. The rooms are perfectly cozy with wood-burning stoves, comfortable beds. The breakfasts are hands-down the best we've ever had in a B&B. The generous servings, plus the complimentary afternoon homemade pie or cake, makes the nightly rates all worth it (especially if you book a room that features an en-suite soaking tub). There are no phone, TVs or computers. This is where you go to disconnect, slow down and rejuvenate.

Booked this room based on other reviewers comments. The place did not disappoint. Atmosphere, people, food, location -- all just what the doctor ordered for this work-weary couple. Loved Cold Spring itself and the views on the Hudson. Only wish there was some kind of boat ride that was offered right there. It would have been a great thing to do on an autumn day in NY.
