True B&B delight. The breakfast area was cheerful with excellent breakfast and efficient service. It was a good hub for our daily tour of the area.

We took Metro North to Cold Spring from NYC, and stayed at the Pig Hill Inn. The staff was friendly, and the rooms were nice. It was a great hiking weekend!

Breakfasts were very good. Room average at best. Jacuzzi tub needed fresh caulk. Just really needed some fine tuning in regards to cleaning. Wifi only worked in one corner of the room. Emailed them after returning home as I thought I may have left something and never got a reply.
Thank you for your review. We were sad to learn that you were not totally satisfied with your stay as most of our guests are. Since we have not received your e-mail ("you may have left something"), we would appreciate your sending it again so that we CAN respond. Also please let us know which room you were staying in so that we may remedy your concerns. We do hope you will return to The Pig Hill Inn before long.

This was the first time in Cold Springs and the Pig Hill Inn made the experience that much better. The staff is great. The rooms are quaint. The breakfast was so lovely and the perfect way to start your day. I enjoyed no TV in the room. I will definitely be back.

Cold Spring is a treasure: views of the Hudson River, flanked by Storm King Mountain, have been celebrated in the paintings of the Hudson River landscape paintings and the writing of Washington Irving and James Fenimore Cooper. The village includes delightful places to hop and dine and great sites to hike. Staying at Pig Hill Inn places you in the center of the village. The rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable. Remote controls keep room temperatures to your liking. The bedding, linens and towels are high quality. Books are shelved in each room. Amenities include a homemade cake available for late night snacks. Breakfast in the beautiful glass conservatory are made to order and wonderfully prepared. The staff are gracious. This inn lacks the river views available in some rooms that an alternative bed and breakfast stay provides, but Pig Hill Inn provides notably quiet rooms, free from the noise of creaks and running water.

We were very happy with our room. Quality overnight options in this part of the Hudson Valley are hard to come by. Happy to report that Pig Hill is one of them .

I loved this bed and breakfast! The rooms were tidy and the owner let us check in early. We also opted for breakfast to be delivered to our room and it was absolutely delicious. Thanks for a great stay!

Stayed here for a weekend just to get out of the city for a bit. Everything about booking/checkin/checkout was super easy and the staff was more then accommodating for some simple requests. Our room was very clean and had plenty of space which included a private bathroom. Its close to the train and right in the middle of town so there was no need for a car as you can walk to everything. Will definitely be planning another stay here!

Great location for antique shopping. Our stay was pleasant. The inn is charming & just what I expected from a B&B.

Adorable historical inn, wonderfully attentive staff, opulent breakfast as well delicious homemade cake and cookies to accompany an afternoon cup of tea, clean and comfortable room with private bath ... just perfect! We stayed in the Danish Blue room and loved the sunlit, nicely decorated accomodations. Sure, the floors creak and the bathroom is a bit snug (although very clean and well stocked) ...just what you would expect in a beautiful old inn. Cold Spring is close to everything you would want to do in the Hudson Valley. We went to a vineyard, were thrilled by the magnificent views from the new footbridge over the Hudson River, hiked, attended two shows at the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival and bought delicious picnic food at at a local farmstand (to enjoy on the grounds of Boscobel prior to the show). Wonderful memories!

,.,.,.but my room (mountain view) was missing two window shades. only one window had a shade. And the bathroom sink tilts dangerously to the left if you lean a hand on it. Seemed like it could easily tip over. And the light bulbs, in the room and in the living room, were too dim for comfortable reading.

A friend stayed at this inn 20 years ago and recommended that I stay here for some R and R. It was just as it was 20 years ago in excellent service and ambiance. Absolutely loved my stay. Will return with family.

We were delighted to spend a very relaxing weekend at this lovely B&B. It is warm and friendly. Vera and all her staff are very willingto please their guests. Our breakfasts were delicious. My sister and I stayed at the Pig Hill Inn for a "Sisters Weekend" in August. It was the perfect place to go. We stayed in a charming room on the first floor room just off the lobby. The owner, Vera, was very welcoming and friendly, and all the staff was, too. The breakfast is especially nice in their greenhouse indoor/outdoor space, with home-cooked, delicious muffins, omelets, french toast, etc., plus fresh fruit. I can't recommend it enough if you want a quiet, homey place to stay in Cold Spring.

Stayed at the Pig Hill Inn for one night in the Mountain Vista room. It was very comfortable for one person but can't imagine the room or the bathroom being comfortable for 2 people. The accommodations were clean and attractive. I loved the peaceful eating area and the view of the beautiful back garden. The breakfast was ample, delicious, and served quickly and politely.

My partner and I wanted to escape the city and spend time outdoors. We decided on Cold Spring because it is next to Hudson Highlands, has the HV Shakespeare Festival, and plenty of options to get out on the river. Every review site I checked gave high marks to Pig Hill Inn. After staying there, it is clear why. Entering PHI, we immediately felt at home, like you do walking into your grandparents' place. The location could not be better, the breakfast was exactly what we had hoped for, and the staff went well out of their way - even offering to take us to HVSF when our other transportation option fell through. It's clear that they take pride in the Inn and care about their customers. We'll certainly return.

The Pig Hill in is the perfect option for folks who want to get out of the hustle and bustle of the City and enjoy a relaxing weekend in a quiet and quaint town. The Inn is located on the main strip in Cold Springs and you can easily access many hikes out the front door. The staff truly makes you feel at home and the service is exceptional.

We stayed in tranquility room. Were pleasantly greeted by one of owners. Room rather small, bathroom large with jacuzzi tub, which shower is in. A bit awkward climbing into for shower, no handrails. Bed a canopy 4 poster, mattress not the worst, but not best either. Breakfast was wonderful. This is a well located inn, on Main Street near restaurants and coffee shops. Suggest you visit boscobel mansion, was lovely.
4.8 on July 18, 2014
My boyfriend and I recently stayed in the tranquility room to celebrate our anniversary. The inn was perfect. Definitely check out the two person jacuzzi! I was also a fan of the canopy bed. Dave took really good care of us. I paid for a bottle of champagne ahead of time for the room and he made sure it was waiting for us after dinner. There was a delicious chocolate cake as well! As for breakfast, we had it delivered to the room. It was huge and delicious! We loved staying at the pig hill inn. We're already talking about going back!

We stayed at Pig Hill Inn on July 2nd. The gentleman who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. He made a good restaurant recommendation for dinner that evening, and also made arrangements for our daughter - who is working in Coldspring for the summer - to join us for breakfast the next morning. Our room was very comfortable and the entire inn had a very homey and welcoming feel. Breakfast was excellent - omelets and pancakes - and our server efficient and friendly.
5 on July 01, 2014
The owners if the Pig Hill In go above and beyond to make your stay as lovely as possible. They even worked around a scheduling snafu on my end to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are sumptuous and clean, and the breakfast is great. I recommend the Pig Hill Inn to anyone looking for a romantic getaway in Cold Spring.

The facilities themselves were pretty standard as far as a typical B&B in the area, and the breakfast was good. Pie in the afternoon is a nice touch. Cleanliness and the general state of repair could be improved. The proprietor's demeanor and behavior were flighty, bordering on bizarre/erratic, which did not enhance the experience. The man staffing the front desk for the majority of the weekend seemed ill-informed about the workings of the inn and wasn't adept at the nuances of good hospitality. Overall, it was fine, but I expected more for the hefty price tag.

This is a great getaway from NYC. Super easy to get to and an incredibly warm, friendly place. The breakfasts were top notch. The afternoon pie, a pleasant surprise. Our room was very nice and clean. The bed a bit firm, no pillow tops or anything. There was no radio or tv, but there is internet. The owners were pleasantly interactive and helpful. The town of Cold Spring is very small, but expectedly quaint. And there are lots of nearby and outdoor activities. I'd definitely come again.

3.6 on May 21, 2014
I stayed in the Bella Rose room which was charming with deep windows overlooking the main street on the second floor. Unfortunately, the bathroom was not in the room but a couple doors down. Overall, the stay was decent and the place was spotless. But, the staff or accomodations didn't seem to provide anything extra special. Usually, the B&Bs I stay at leave little chocolates on the pillows, water bottles in the room, and fun toiletries to try. There was no water, except tap. The inn has only one iron, so ask ahead.

Had a good hike all day, and walked in the door feeling underdressed and sweaty and a bit too muddy. Vera didn't make a stink out of it and was very nice. We had champaign waiting for us in the room. And we even had or own fireplace. Great selection of books too. Breakfast was nice too. Everything was so easy and smooth. We loved the stay! Definitely recommend to check out the town (make sure you come a bit early since most stores seemed to close very early) and the Tuscan grill up the street was delicious!!

I went with my two adult sons for a quiet weekend before my oldest son's upcoming wedding. It was the best place for us to walk, talk, eat, relax and share quality time together. The Inn was just what we needed and is a beautiful and comfortable "get-a-way". We all would recommend it highly and without reservation. Thank you for everything!
5 on April 27, 2014
We recently spent one night at the Pig Hill Inn. Though normal weekend policy requires a 2 night minimum, they were very flexible and allowed us to only stay one night. Rooms were clean and very charming, the food was excellent and the staff were friendly and attentive. Overall a great place to get away for a weekend!

Everything about our stay at the Pigs Hill Inn was absolutely stellar. The hospitality is unmatched. Our room was gorgeous, clean, and very romantic. The breakfast in the morning was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. We were so sad to leave and will be coming back for sure!!

The owner is a nice guy to chat with and the tea and brownies by the fire were welcome after a long day outdoors. The room and bathroom were very clean. Free internet was available. Breakfast was excellent- especially the greenhouse- style room they have it in. Only 2 minor issues-- they need better pillows and the rooms or common area need more books on the shelves considering there is no TV.

This charming building has a lot going for it, great location in town, good sized rooms & the bones of a great inn. However it is locked in time with too much stuff, and a lot of it is dusty & has some grim. It could use a good re freshening- The quilts & shams on the beds are tired & dark. White duvet covers & shams would brighten the rooms & be much cleaner.

The Pig Hill Inn was a wanderful choice for our little trip in Cold Spring. It is the perfect place if you are looking for a romantic, old-fashioned, warm and comfortable atmosphere. Service, owners politeness, cleanliness are at the highest standard. Definetly reccomended for couples.

We've been coming to Pig Hill for many years and it just gets better. It's our perfect retreat from NYC. Vera (owner) and Dave (innkeeper) are wonderful and cater to your every whim. We love to stay in the Enchantment room with wood burning stove, romantic décor, velvet wing back chairs and Jacuzzi for two! You are served a gourmet breakfast (enough for breakfast and lunch) either downstairs or in your room. We love having breakfast in our room by the fire! I can't recommend this Inn highly enough. What a great getaway!

My wife and I needed to get out of the city for a few days, but we don't have a car. Cold Spring was the perfect destination as it's 75 minutes on the metro north to the foot of the village. The Pig Hill Inn is just what we pictured i our dreams of a sleepy weekend getaway. The food is great and the ownership and innkeeper treated us like family. We're recommending this place to friends and will likely head back ourselves.

I needed a break from the hustle and bustle of the city (NYC). I searched and searched, and am very happy I found Pig Hill Inn. I like the name, and the homeyness made it so comfortable. I hated to leave, but my stay made it easier to go back to the city. I will definitely return! I've already made a reservation for warmer weather in July.
4.8 on March 26, 2014
The room my wife and I chose to stay in was the Morning Glory room and is the one with the fireplace. At first we thought no television would be a problem, but that turned out to be a benefit. If you want a relaxing, centrally located place to stay in Cold Spring this is it. Our hosts were lovely and made us feel at home. And if TV is an issue for you, there is WiFi available, so I did get to check game scores, etc. Didn't really miss it at all.

We've stayed here a few years back, and it was even better than we remembered. The breakfast is so beautifully prepared, the food delicious. The easy access to either the Main St. or a lovely country road leading to walking trails. It's a great place, winter or summer. And the owner is so charming!

Delighted to sit and sip by the fire. Relax. Short interesting walk to interesting shops, great restaurants, interesting side streets. Great apple pie and chocolate cake tempted us in the afternoon. Beautiful, historic town along the mighty Hudson...a true get-away. We will make it our annual retreat.

This was a perfect getaway for our anniversary/birthday celebration. We were taken care of very generously by David. The breakfast was delicious and was delivered to our room (a very nice option). We were left alone for our privacy but could always find someone if we needed anything. We stayed in the morning ivy room and the fireplace was excellent. The room was nice and clean and the private bathroom was perfect.

We'll be back. I stayed at this inn with my wife on a little honeymoon weekend. The breakfast in bed was great, Vera was great, everything was great abou this place. It's right in the middle of Main Street, so you can really enjoy the town of cold-spring by foot. We went on a winter month and were awed by the view of the icy Hudson river at the river's edge view across the train tracks. We stayed at the room on the ground floor thinking we'd have no privacy and be annoyed by guests, but to our surprise, it was just as cozy as we've hoped. Vera was very accomodating, making arrangements with us even when we arrived late at night (I do recommend arriving before 7PM). An overall excellent stay and my wife and I will be repeat customers.
5 on March 12, 2014

We came to Cold Springs at the coldest, quietest time of the year, and were delighted by Pig Hill Inn. The breakfasts and occasional treats, (home baked pies, cookies) were consistently amazing, our room was cozy and silent, and the Inn Keeper was very considerate. When you travel in the off-season it's important to have guidance on what is open, what is closed, and what is unique to the region. We'd planned to google as we go, but after checking in at Cold Springs, and visiting the local apothecary, we didn't have to. Looking forward to visiting again in the summer.

My boyfriend bad I truly enjoyed our weekend. The breakfasts were outstanding. The cook-David possessed an uncanny ability to know exactly how we liked our eggs cooked without a word being uttered. Our room was cute however I wish the walls were thicker - as we didn't want to be a part of the other couples weekends. Only other complaint was the comfort of the bed (very soft in our room)- but all in all such a great great experience. Highly recommend!!!!

Our experience at the Inn was a very warm and friendly environment. The Inn was fairly well maintained and the breakfast meals were perfect. The price per room seemed a bit high however considering the cost of living within the geographical area the cost was quite appropriate.

Loved the Tranquility room - such a treat to light a fire and take a jacuzzi at the end of a wintry day of shopping & exploring the area. Really helpful & lovely people running the place, and the cleanest, most "new" feeling B&B room I think I've ever stayed at. It's not cheap, but very nice to be right in the middle of main street, and so close to the Metro North stop. Also - if they have the pecan pie sitting out at night - grab a slightly bigger slice than you think you want. So delicious!

This is a beautiful inn in right in the middle of everything Cold Spring has to offer. You can easily walk to anywhere in town, or to one of the trail heads. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful, and I will surely return soon. It felt more like a quaint little hotel than the B&Bs I've been to in the past, which, in my opinion, might be its best quality.

Had two days off in a row and had always wanted to visit Cold Spring, so booked an impromptu one night stay at the Pig Hill Inn. Perfect service, perfect room, perfect bed, perfect breakfast. Wish we could have stayed longer. It was the ideal getaway from the city and only an hour away by train from Grand Central. Thanks for the memz!

I was looking for a warm, cozy place get away after proposing to my fiance, and the Pig Hill Inn was excellent. The wood burning stove and pre-placed bottle of champagne with glasses, as well as the aged (but clean and sturdy) feel of the place was exactly what I was looking for. Vera (inn keeper) was gracious, accommodating, and very friendly, as were the rest of the staff. Breakfast was filling and delicious, with good coffee as well. It's in a good location, seconds from the Hudson House, which is great for a nice dinner, steps away from the Hudson river, and right in the center of a lively little down with a lot of other dining/shopping options. Highly recommended, across the board.
4.4 on November 21, 2013
The location of this B&B is perfect - easy to walk up and down Main Street to see the waterfront, get to the station, visit the many antique shops, or eat in of Cold Spring's restaurants. We even caught live music a couple of blocks up the street. The B&B itself is beautiful and very comfortable - we had a great stay with very accommodating hosts, and breakfast was delicious. My only complaint is that the bed throw and decorative pillows were in desperate need of cleaning (or replacing), and the carpet in the room looked less than clean. My guess is that they'd been cleaned many times but reached a point of no return. The sheets themselves were clean and fresh. Highly recommend staying here.
5 on November 20, 2013
Pig Hill Inn was a fantastic place to stay for a weekend. Centrally located and minutes from the train station (although we drove) it is about an hour from Manhattan in beautiful Cold Springs. Innkeeper was friendly and helpful. Decor was inviting and warm. Wood stove or fireplace in most rooms. Included breakfast was fantastic and luxurious. Free pie in the lounge area (pecan and apple respectively) and coffee or tea. Minutes from some amazing restaurants (French and Italian) and a ton of interesting antique shops. The price was right at around $200. per evening. They could charge more for the quality of stay we received. Very friendly and professional serving and cleaning staff. Seemed like a family business with alot of love put into it. Makes me want to retire to Cold Springs.

I booked a room for one night this month as part of an anniversary gift for my girlfriend. I must say that we hadn't stayed at a B&B before so I did not know what to expect. The folks at the Pig Hill Inn were great! Very accommodating even let us check in a couple of hrs earlier. The room was clean, quiet and the bed was super comfortable. We will definitely be coming back here. Side note- Vera was excellent!

We stayed at Pig Hill Inn Oct. 24-27 and had a wonderful time. We were in Cold Spring for a wedding and were fortunate too have friends and family book all 9 rooms! It was like entertaining at home without the work!! Vera and Dave were great and made sure we were comfortable. Great location and the train is within a couple of blocks. Our weekend was memorable and the stay at Pig Hill had a huge part in that. We are all talking about recreating our stay every year!
3.4 on November 09, 2013
This B&B was a relaxing, quiet place to unwind after a day of exploring the Cold Spring area. The service was also above average. The only minor complaint is the quality of the breakfasts. While they are adequate, for the price of the room and the location one would expect a slightly higher culinary standard. For example, the mushroom omelette was OK but undistinguished, with no herbs or cream sauce to make it stand out. A larger menu selection would have been nice also, including perhaps an old-fashioned oatmeal option.

Spent one night in Cold Spring during the fall to hike breakneck ridge, enjoy the town and unwind from life in NYC. It is such an easy trip to make. Pig Hill Inn is a very short walk from the train station and the trailhead to the Cornish Trail, which we took to the Breakneck Ridge Trail. The Inn was very clean and quaint and the proprietors were welcoming. We had a great trip and recommend Pig Hill Inn to anyone staying in Cold Spring.

We had a good time at the Pig Hill Inn. We had a group of people there and it was fun to all be staying in rooms on one floor. It was a very cute place with unique design. They could definitely do a better job cleaning and nicer bedding would make a big difference in the comfort level! One big complaint was the uncleanliness and sanitary state of the kitchen. I didn't want to eat there because it was very dirty and the food at a bed and breakfast is a big draw since that is part of what you pay for.

I recently wanted to take a day trip out of NY and settled on Cold Spring. We chose Pig Hill randomly--and thank god we did. From the moment we entered to the moment we left, I've never experienced that level of genuinely warm service in either a B&B or a hotel. Such great people, the food also exceeded expectations, and the bed was super comfortable. There is nothing at all to fault, and I urge anyone considering a stay in the area to book at the Pig Hill Inn without hesitation. It will make your trip.

What a wonderful surprise! Our gathering of nine college women couldn't have been better. Most special, Dave our host. His attention and assist with everything will be remembered. The breakfast was delicious, as were the afternoon treats. A very special gathering in a very special place.

The best place to stay in Cold Spring hands down! Centrally located on Main Street, it's within walking distance to all restaurants and stores. Everyone working here is amazing! They go out of their way to help you out in anything you need. I will always recommend The Pig Hill Inn if you want to have the full experience of Cold Spring.

The Pig Hill Inn is perfectly located on the main street near all the shops and restaurants. I liked the antique furniture but would have enjoyed having a tv nonetheless. My room was on the small side, and although it has 3 windows and is situated on the top floor of the building, you had to crane your neck to see the views. The breakfast room is delightful.

My wife and I try to stay at the Pig Hill Inn every autumn. The setting is super-relaxing, the Fall colors along the Hudson are spectacular, and the Pig Hill Inn is our all-time favorite B and B!

Lovely place! Lovely people running it! Some have called it a Bed & Breakfast. Sure, they serve breakfast (and a fantastic one too). And it does feel like a home. But you've the privacy of a hotel: the proprietors don't live there; you can come and go as you please; and you don't hear the creaking of floors from other rooms... or beds. Best of all may have been the freshly baked apple pie sitting on the kitchen counter after a quick jaunt to the shops on our first afternoon there. You can't go wrong with this place!

We stayed here for a getaway weekend and it was lovely. Vera, the owner, was extremely helpful and accommodating with our reservation. We stayed in the Enchantment room which was lovely, charming, and rustic, with a wonderful jaccuzi bathtub. The only disappointing part was that the fireplace in the room yet had not yet been cleaned for the season, so we were unable to use it. If you are looking forward to using the fireplace, be sure to call before your reservation to see when in the fall they are doing the flue cleaning for the winter.

The Pig Hill Inn is the greatest. The staff is exceedingly friendly. The Tranquility Suite lived up to its name. The breakfast was a delicious and the perfect way to start the morning. The fresh baked pie and cake was amazing. This was our first trip to Cold Spring and the Pig Hill Inn, but it definitely will not be our last!

This B&B is an easy 1-2min walk from the train station, and a short walk to all the amazing (advanced) hiking trails in the area. Also, conveniently located on the main street near all the chachki shops and the few nice restaurants in the area. I found Dave who ran the B&B to be friendly, but slightly socially awkward. He quickly warmed up to me after a short conversation and was more than happy to make my stay comfortable, and went out of his way to do so. Although, I had to ask for what I wanted, he happily accommodated and then some. I found the tranquility room lovely. The jacuzzi was a heart shaped two seater that was really nice. However, the jets were a bit loud and one created a stinging sensation. I have no idea why that happened. It seemed the pressure generated from leaning back on the jets made one shoot out water in a pressurized way that made the stream really cold. That's my best non-scientific explanation. I would stay there again, and although I liked the Tranquility room, I might try another one just to see.

My name is Karl. I stayed in the Pig Hill Inn the weekend of October 5 and 6. We stayed in Room 8, I believe it was the Mountain View room. Pros: - Conveniently located - Breakfast was good, and other food offered during our stay was good - The rest of the hotel is quaint and cozy Cons: - Our room had a problem with multiple bugs crawling throughout the window curtains and ceiling and the wall near the bed. These bugs were large enough to capture in a glass and save for the cleaning ladies to see. As we left for the day, we alerted the hotel of the problem. They said they would fix it. When we came back a few hours later, there were still 3-4 bugs crawling around that we could see. - To fix the problem, the hotel removed the window air unit, which left us with just the noisy ceiling fan at night for any air. - There curtains did not completely cover the windows, and so the bright street lights shone into our room the entire night. - Between the bugs, a noisy ceiling fan and bright street lights, we paid $368 for two nights of little sleep. We were offered a bottle of what I guess was champagne for our troubles, but this hotel was not worth the price. We loved Cold Spring on the Hudson, but will try other establishments if/when we come back.

Pig Hill Inn, Cold Spring, NY is located in a perfect spot - 1 hr 15 mins train ride to NY and there are quaint restaurants in town for dinner. The staff and owner of Pig Hill are wonderful folks and they deliver outstanding service. The breakfasts are great and they always have cookes/pie and tea available late afternoon and evening. It's always a pleasure.

Our stay at Pig Hill was lovely! There was a little mishap right at the beginning, not a huge ordeal at all and something completely by accident, and they were VERY apologetic, gracious and made sure we felt cared for in every way. The rooms were clean, well kept, and just as they appeared on the website. We enjoyed a wonderful, full breakfast in the morning. Pig hill is an adorable, quaint establishment that will exceed all expectations. You won't regret staying here. Word to the wise, however, don't go to Cold Spring on Tuesdays if a day of antiquing is what you are after...the town generally shuts down. That, of course, is no reflection on Pig Hill, just an FYI.

Only complaint was that the bathroom tub tile and shower curtain had black mildew throughout the grout. We didn't have time for a bath but was glad we didn't try. The rest of the inn and our room was clean; the bathroom was otherwise spotless. We were disappointed that the tub and tile and curtain were not clean. Otherwise a lovely stay.

The inn is cozy and quaint overall, but don't get the mountain vista room. It's not worth the $, pay up a little extra for a much better upgrade. Two of the window shades were missing in the mountain vista room. This room also doesn't have an attached bathroom, which is fine, except the shower curtains were a bit dingy and the toilet seat wasn't the right size so kept shifting. But usable. Dining was accommodating -- they asked for any dietary restrictions and came through with the requests. The staff made our stay very pleasant, just wish the room would have been better kept. We're not high maintenance so we let it pass, but someone else may give their stay a terrible review based on the shades and the bathroom. All in all, it's a nice little town and the Pig Hill Inn came through! Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Thanks!

The Pig Hill Inn was the perfect spot to stay in downtown Cold Spring. The room was lovely, service was attentive and the breakfast most delicious. Our only regret were the pillows...in our room the pillows were quite flat so it did not have as luxurious a feel as the rest of the room. We would stay there again and hope to be back soon!

Pig Hill Inn was a lovely place for our weekend visit to the Hudson Valley for the second year in a row and I would highly recommend it. We especially appreciated Vera, the owner, and her wonderful staff, including Dave, who made us a delicious breakfast each morning. They catered to our dietary needs so thoughtfully (gluten-free and vegetarian) and made us feel very welcome. Will come again next year for sure!

Pig Hill is a warm, quaint B&B perfectly situated in Cold Spring. The B&B is walking distance from the train, restaurants, stores and fantastic hiking. I would definitely return in the cooler months, because my room had a working fire place. I was most pleased by their accomodations for my gluten free needs. For breakfast they made delicious gluten free pancakes. Normally, fruit with yogurt is the only option. The one minor complaint is that the walls are a bit thin and I could hear the other guests from time to time. If you have a white noise machine bring it for sleeping. Overall, I would recommend the Pig Hill Inn to anyone who wanted a nice retreat from NYC.
2.6 on August 22, 2013
The bed in the room was very old and sunken in. I had a horrible night sleep. My husband and I couldn't believe how obvious it was that they needed to replace it. The chocolate cake was good. The breakfast was good. It would be nice if they include healthy options like yogurt and oatmeal in addition to the heavier food like omelettes and French toast.

The Pig Hill Inn is incredibly convenient, close to the train station and the Hudson River and walking distance to cute shops and wonderful restaurants. The inn itself is clean and comfortable. The innkeeper and the manager are extremely helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our needs and special requests. We will certainly be back next summer on our annual Hudson Valley vacation.

This is our second stay, and we loved it! The room (Morning Ivy) was very nice and breakfast was delicious! We loved eating in the conservatory. This inn is in a great location for walking around Cold Spring and if you go to the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. Our only complaint was that when we called, the man that answered the phone was a bit curt, and when we checked in the man who showed us our room was not in very professional attire. But as far as service, food, and quality, this place is terrific!

We travel to Cold Springs, NY each summer to see our son perform in the Shakeaspear Festival. We Love the Pig Hill Inn.......the location in the middle of Main Street right downtown, the staff is wonderful, the rooms are quaint and very comfortable, the breakfasts are delicious, there is always fresh cookies or pie or cake with coffee and tea during the day and the dining room is bright and cheery and glassed in so guests can linger there after eating or when returning in the evening for some family time! We gather there for cards, conversation or silly fun time. Do give The Pig Hill a try.....you will Love it. Sincerely, Arlene Esgate....San Diego, CA

The Pig Hill Inn is a charming and relaxing place to spend time. Nestled in the lower end of Cold Spring, it has a warmth that very few places offer. Vera, the innkeeper who was there during our trip, had a wonderful smile and everlasting hope to pleasing us. As much as we travel, the Pig Hill Inn is at the top in all areas.

I was in need of a retreat form the crazy city life and came across Pig Hill Inn several times in my search. Fate was on my side. I booked a two night stay and wished I booked a three nighter instead. As a B&B first timer, I had my reservations but they went out of the window when I arrived - its so close to the Metro North station (so convenient! btw). I was greeted by one of the owners, Dave, who immediately showed me around. The inn is so cozy, historic and has a small boutique filled with nuances and an impressive display of bags. The breakfasts were a pleasant way to start the day plus the tea and snacks were bonuses - plenty of food!! I highly recommend this place for those traveling solo, with a significant other or a small group of friends. The inn is spacious, clean and welcoming. -Chante

My wife and I had the privilege of staying at the Pig Hill Inn this past week. Our first visit to it, as well as to Cold Spring. We had a wonderful if short stay, and were truly charmed by the Pig Hill's comfortable setting, kind staff and terrific breakfasts (Dave is the man!) On top of that, it's centrally located where you are amidst nice restaurants, the Hudson river and Hudson Hill State Park, which is great for hiking. That aside, we will most definitely returning and would want to stay nowhere else but at the Pig Hill Inn. A truly lovely place to be!

We booked our room at the last minute and had a wonderful stay. The staff was helpful and the breakfast was delicious. The location is in the center of the Main Street, near all of the shopping and restaurants of Cold Spring. There was fresh blueberry pie and iced tea waiting for us in the afternoon...a lovely touch! We needed to check out late and they gave us no trouble at all.

Some of the rooms are better than others. I would definitely book a room with its own bathroom. And would not be on the 3rd floor again with many bags as dragging them up the stairs is not fun!

Excellent location. The room was very spacious and comfortable. A couple of suggestions would be to have coffee available early in the morning and to install blinds in the bedrooms that will keep out more light. The staff was friendly enough. The innkeeper was a little gruff at first, but after we began to speak with him he seemed to lighten up a little bit. I would recommend the Pig Hill Inn and would certainly consider staying there again in the future.

The rooms are fabulous and the those on the street side of the house have nice views of the mountains. It is right across the street from a wonderful french bistro and a short walk to the water and right next door to shopping and ice cream. Breakfast is delicious too. I am gluten free and was made wonderful waffles. Don't get those very often. Thank you Pig Hill!

I had lived in the charming little town of Cold Spring for a little over a year. While there I met many of the shop owners and townspeople. I always felt so welcomed by the friendliness of everyone. I was sad to leave Cold Spring, but knew that I would be making frequent visits in the future. I recently became engaged and decided I just had to get married in this town. My family and I stayed in The Pig Hill Inn for the weekend of my wedding. There are not enough nice things I can say about Vera, the inn-keeper and her staff. She introduced me to her family and was so welcoming. She went out of her way to help my bridal party as they got ready with their dresses, hair and makeup. There are not enough nice things I can say about the charming decor of the rooms as well. I just know my wedding photographs will look exquisite because of the decor and special touches that Vera has placed into each room. I stayed in "Tranquility" and have to say it is the best room to stay in for any future bride-to-be! I just loved the Pig Hill Inn and look forward to staying there for years to come on anniversaries and special occasions.

We stayed at the Pig Hill Inn for one night, late June. The Inn was very much as advertised; small, courteous staff, and great breakfast. Our visit was on a hot day and we were very happy with the AC; quiet and we controlled the temperature. The only downside to the inn is there is no elevator however the staff is wonderful and will help haul your luggage upstairs. We would highly recommend the Inn!

We recently enjoyed a "Girl's Weekend" to see the Shakespeare Festival and explore the area. My daughter and boyfriend drove down from Boston to meet us. The Inn was very accomodating in allowing us to add them to our breakfast group the next morning, and encouraging us to stay and chat way beyond check-out time. The third-person cot in our room was more like a single bed, the a/c made it very comfortable sleeping in the midst of a heat wave, and the owners could not have been friendlier. On my own rating scale, I give it a 5 piglet review! Amy E. Shelby

We recently had a meeting in town and chose The Pig Hill Inn as lodging for members of our staff. Some had already seen the rooms on a previous visit and chose exactly what they wanted, since each room offers a unique environment. Vera was so helpful and patient with us during the planning stages, that we knew the visit was going to be successful. We had many changes along the way, but she was able to accommodate us at every turn. The rooms were just as described; quaint and lovingly detailed to allow for a comfortable "home away from home". And the feel of the Inn was just what we were looking for, a quiet, comfortable, clean environment where we could conduct business and also get away from it all. While we were there, Dave at the front desk went above and beyond allowing some staff members to store their food in the Inn's fridge. He also helped with special dietary requests and specific needs of staff members. Additionally, Vera provided a cake and ice for our off - site gathering. We all felt cared for but not intruded upon, as we went about our busy workday schedule. We will definitely plan on staying at the Pig Hill Inn again, as it provides just the right balance between a homey atmosphere and a professional, solicitous staff who take care of needs you may not even know you have. Thanks Vera and Dave, The ICC Team

A lovely overnight getaway to celebrate our anniversary. Very convenient to restaurants and shopping in Cold Spring. Room was clean and quiet. Our particular room felt larger than expected due to private bathroom and small hallway entrance to bathroom. Staff could have been more forthcoming and helpful. Breakfast room quite lovely with surrounding garden. Food was average but nicely served. For such a small venue, a more personal greeting and check out would have been expected. However, would definitely return, since this is close to home and quite convenient.

Friendly staff, cute and clean room. Gorgeous building on the main street. Everything was excellent!
4.6 on June 14, 2013
The rooms are beautifully decorated with antiques or in antique style. The building itself is from 1825 with wide floorboards, but all modern amenities, including individual heat/air conditioning in each room. The breakfasts were huge and delicious, with fresh fruit, eggs any style you want them, bacon, etc. Homebaked cake or pie and hot tea are available late in the afternoon every day. My only caveat is that some of the rooms face a busy street, but if you keep the windows closed and a/c on, as the manager recommended, it's quiet enough for sleeping..

Came into the Village to attend an Art Opening that my son, Roger Derrick, was showing in at Gallery 66. I was coming from the Jersey Shore area so I did not want to do a "all-in-one-day" run so I check out the B&B's in this area & came across the Pig Hill Inn. The pic of the room on the Internet was true to what I found & very comfortable & clean. Kind of liked that the bathroom was private & not in the room....really felt like a "home". Had the pleasure of meeting the proprietress Vera Keil & enjoyed casual chatting. Inn Keeper Dave is a wonderful welcoming host & breakfast chef. Really enjoyed coming back to the Inn to a warm, fresh baked pie...Mmmm Good! As for location to surrounding attractions & villages, I loved it. There is much to see & do within a 50 mile radius & after visiting the surrounding villages & hamlets, I would choose Cold Spring-on-the-Hudson & the Pig Hill Inn again. The icing on the cake was that I knew the Gallery was also on Main Street but was pleasantly surprised to realize the windows of my room were directly across the street from Gallery 66. Couldn't have planned it better if I tried! It's was a wonderful experience & I would certainly stay here again. Malvine Derrick, Brick, NJ

Coming straight from work Friday evening, it was very convenient that they allow for late check-ins. We were greeted by the Dave the innkeeper/chef, who was very pleasant to talk to. He showed us the common room and the dining room which has freshly-baked pie and an assortment of tea, available anytime, before taking us to our room. He even carried our luggage to our room. The place is clean and well kept. All furnishings and decor are tastefully done and every single detail was mulled after. They even have a cute boutique shop in front that doubles as the concierge desk. My wife and I stayed in the Bella Rosa room which is in the front facing the Main Street. The room was nicely appointed and the bed was very comfortable. When the windows are open a nice breeze flows though the room. There are three caveats when staying in this room though. One there is only one layer of curtains on all the windows. We stayed there in the middle of June so the sun starts to rise at around 4:45am. My wife and I kept waking up because of this. The problem was solved by wearing sleeping masks. Second, since this room faces Main Street, there is a bar diagonally across the street that is open till around 3am-4am. If your windows are open, you will hear lots of noise from that bar. Thankfully, my wife and I are heavy sleepers. This problem may be solved by closing the windows and turning on the air conditioning for white noise. Lastly, the bathroom is in the hallway. This may detract some people from choosing this room, but it is private and reserved for the Bella Rosa room. There is a beautiful claw foot tub, very tempting to draw a nice warm bath with. Breakfast is served from 8am to 10am, and it's plentiful and delicious! Vera the proprietor was very nice and accommodating. Overall it was a pleasant stay and it's conveniently located in the center of town. We will most definitely come back and stay at the Pig Hill Inn.

We booked a room at the Pig Hill Inn as an escape from New York City. It is definitely one of the places with more character in the area. We got a lovely welcome from Dave who also recommended an excellent spot for dinner. The hot drinks and pie were welcome and delicious and the breakfast was excellent. The downside was I hadn't realised that our bedroom didn't have an en suite bathroom, so check and take a bathrobe if needed! The room was pretty and comfortable, it did face the street but we didn't find it noisy.

We had a wonderful time at the Pig Hill Inn. My wife and I went to Cold Spring just after our wedding for a mini-honeymoon (planning our main honeymoon for later this year). Service was great, breakfast in bed was fantastic, and the room was cozy. A quiet, relaxed getaway from NYC - exactly what we needed.

Dave is a very nice guy and although I had to leave very early for work (5AM) he still managed to leave coffee, juice, fruit and muffins for me. The room was clean and comfortable and Cold Spring is a nice little town. I highly recommend The Pig Hill Inn. When I go back to Cold Spring NY I will definitely stay there again.

We were looking for a relaxing getaway from NYC to recharge and found it after just a couple days in Cold Spring. Vera is so friendly and Dave even bought us a beer at a neighboring tavern the first day when we were rained in, but needed to get out! We had breakfast delivered to our room each morning and were delighted to have a delicious variety of items on our plates. The muffins were simply the best I've ever tasted! The Pig Hill Inn is sure to be on our list of B&B's we'll visit again.

We wanted a cozy, clean getaway from NYC and got much more. Great facility, quiet, excellent breakfast by Dave. And close to beautiful hiking (you can buy a trail map in town or get a free one at the trailheads). We will definitely be back, maybe annually!
5 on May 01, 2013
We received a warm welcome to the inn. The room was large, clean, and fabulously furnished. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi hot tub in our private bath. In the morning, you can request breakfast in the garden sunroom or have it brought up to your room. We recommend doing both. We enjoyed phenomenal spinach and swiss omelets with croissants, fresh fruit, and bacon. The inn is centrally located in town. This is an excellent place to stay. Ask Dave, the innkeeper, for recommendations for dinner and lunch. We'll definitely be heading back soon! Best, H & M

My girlfriend and I visited Pig Hill Inn for our anniversary and we had a lovely stay here. We appreciated the location of the Inn on Main St, which placed us close to the train station, waterfront, restaurants, and antique stores. What we enjoyed most about our stay was the food and service. We took breakfast in the Victorian Conservatory, which was perfect on a sunny winter day. We looked forward to the freshly baked pie each afternoon, and appreciated the complimentary cups of tea and hot chocolate. The staff was friendly and made sure our stay was comfortable. We hope to visit again in the future!

Cold Spring's Pig Hill Inn is walkable from the train station and a cozy place that pampers guests, yet still feels like a second home to us. We regularly stay at this inn on hiking trips. Sinking into a warm bath after a five hour hike, and getting refreshed for a great meal on Main Street is the reward for our efforts. I heartily recommend this place!

This very handsome historic brick house provides really good service. Manager David upgraded me to the ensuite Danish Blue room on the second floor, as the inn was not full the cold January weekend of my visit. He also cooked the terrific breakfast and served it early on Sunday to meet my schedule. Owner Vera also was charming and welcoming. I was visiting family in Cold Spring. The Pig Hill Inn provided the perfect retreat. Highly recommended. MG from Virginia

This was our second stay at the Pig Hill Inn, the other was five yrs ago.We will always be grateful to a guy at the information desk at Grand Central who directed us to Cold Spring as we had wanted to take a journey by train an hour away to a typical American town.On the visit we discovered the Pig Hill Inn and decided on our next visit to America to stay there which we duly did.We always have a warm welcome from vera the owner who treat all the guests in the nine themed bedrooms like old friends and we are allowed free reign to use the house as if it were our own. Both bedrooms we have stayed in have been beautifully thought out with antique furniture and accessories you can purchase. Breakfasts are wonderful and cater for all needs and every afternoon a cake appears to accompany the constant supply of hot water,tea-bags and milk. There is an innkeeper on site to answer any questions and plenty of leaflets are available on local attractions, there are many good restaurants and cafes close at hand, whilst the train station is a few hundred yards down the hill where you can get a train which takes an hour straight into Grand Central. An ideal location with stunning views over The Hudson to the mountains that we have seen in the Fall and with snow recently. We would highly recommend the Pig Hill Hill. Lyn & Steve Daniels

I totally love Pig Hill Inn! I've stayed here at various times for nearly a decade, and Vera's warm hospitality, the charming, comfortable rooms, the yummy breakfast, and the perfect location right in the heart of town and an easy walk from the train station, make this the perfect getaway. Celebrating New Year's Eve at Pig Hill Inn is my husband's and my favorite tradition. This year's celebration was better than ever: two other couples with whom we had chatted at breakfast also booked dinner at a nearby restaurant so we ended up sharing one large table, then went dancing afterwards.

Everything was perfect! All staff were very helpful, warm and friendly. The Pig Hill Inn was a quiet respite on busy travel weekend from Boston to cold Spring to NYC. I was a given a special favor with a drive to the train station by John on Sat. morning. Breakfast was scrumptious. Vera is a lovely innkeeper and her glow and friendliness are reflected in the staff and personal attention. Thank you! Mary Ellen Washienko

Although our stay was very short, only 2 nights, we could not have been more pleased. From the wood-stove in the room which provided a lovely, romantic way to heat the room, to the 2-person jacuzzi tub and the view of the valley from the windows, this was by far the best place we could have stayed during our trip. Service was excellent; everyone was helpful, and breakfast was made to order.

Having been brought up in the area, I can say that Cold Spring is nit a hub of technology. That being said, Pig Hill does notnhave tv's in the rooms. No problem, I could use my laptop for tv, except that the inn's router would go off line from time to time. No night manager on site, meant that you had to call someone to reboot the router. However, there were no landline phones in the rooms, either. So, when the Pig Hill wifi was out, I didn't have a working cell phone either (no Sprint service). Otherwise, room and service was great. Would go back. Just wish I could access the router when a reboot was needed.

We had a completely lovely experience. Warm blueberry pie was waiting for us on our arrival. The general areas of the inn as well as our room were much nicer than the online pictures.
5 on December 22, 2012
We only spent one night, but it was just the thing for relaxing. With no TV or phone, and with a Duraflame in the wood-burning stove, we could pretend we were living in Victorian times. Quiet, peaceful, in a lovely period room. Breakfast was wonderful, and there were cookies and warm pie put out in the early evening. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

We had a wonderful stay in the Pig Hill inn. The place itself is lovely, our room beautiful. The breakfast was amazing and especially as we are gluten free and the inn keeper made a special effort to accommodate and cook special stuff. This is unusual! Our room had a lovely wood burning stove, the shower was great. We will be back. Thank you pig hill inn!

The Pig Hill Inn was AWESOME. The staff was so friendly, accommodating. They explained everything upon arrival and showed us to our room. The wood burning stove was so nice and made the room very cozy. The option to have breakfast brought to the room was GREAT. Both mornings we were brought an amazing spread. Lots to choose from. The only thing I might suggest is that they update the photos on their website or include more photos for each room. We peaked into the other rooms which were even lovelier than the photos on the web. We might have chosen a different room if they looked the way they did in person as opposed to the web. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend staying at the Pig Hill Inn.
4.6 on November 28, 2012
The Pig Hill Inn is about 3 blocks from the Metro-North train, so that's a huge plus if you don't drive! The house- in fact the town is very vintage and cute. It almost feels like you have traveled back in time to a simpler place, where you have your 3 key restaurants, favorite antique shops, and nature to escape to. The mountains were beautiful, and made for a nice hike. The Inn was cozy, clean, with really good service. The breakfast every morning was awesome! The snacks - cakes and pie throughout the day were also awesome! Only flaw was that the room we were staying in had the bathroom outside of the room, in the hallway. That was awkward. Can't remember the name of the room but it was the one on the second floor, without a fireplace. Also - the house is old and so the walls are thin and the floors creaky. That was not ideal for our particular needs :) but it was still very private nonetheless. Definitely do it!
5 on November 22, 2012
The Pig Hill has fantastic rooms decorated in an original fashion. Each is different and wonderfully detailed. Pie is served in the dining room in the afternoon, and the staff members are friendly and very accommodating without being intrusive. We'll be back.

My friend and I were looking for an overnight getaway from the city, and Pig Hill was the perfect place to unwind during our trip to Cold Spring. Dave went above and beyond to accommodate us - I won't go through everything, but to give an example, he put the fireplace on in the parlor for us to enjoy, since our room didn't have one. We stayed in the Country Sunrise room, and it was very comfortable. The entire place felt like home - warm and cozy. We chose to have our breakfast in the lovely greenhouse, and it was delicious (I wish I would have asked where the coffee was from!). We were given plenty of options - I went for the waffles, and my friend had fluffy scrambled eggs which she loved. All of the sides were good, too. We were also happy to discover that it was very walkable from the train, right on Main Street, and close to all of the shops and restaurants we wanted to check out. We are so grateful for what this place added to our trip, and will definitely be back in the future!

I surprised my boyfriend with a one-night stay here for his birthday and we loved it. We stayed in the Tranquility room, which was every bit as cozy and inviting as it looks in the pictures; the wood burning stove added to the romantic feel of the rom and the jacuzzi was a lovely treat after a long day of hiking Mt. Taurus. Everything was spotlessly clean; I'm very finicky about cleanliness so I made sure of that. I was worried about noise because the room is right on Main Street but it was very quiet, except for about five to ten minutes around 2 AM when a garbage truck made its pickup rounds on the street. The noise didn't bother us in the least but if you want total peace and quiet you may prefer a room not overlooking Main Street. We opted for breakfast in our room and were very pleased to be treated to a delicious spread of eggs, toast, waffles, bacon, sausages, freshly baked muffins, coffee, juice and fresh fruit ...definitely not the Continental breakfast I expected. In addition, we were offered freshly made blueberry pie when we arrived which was very tasty and made us feel at home. Service was courteous and attentive but not overly friendly. I live in NYC so I'm used to that and actually feel more comfortable with that sort of politely aloof service but I can see how it might be off-putting for some. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pig Hill Inn and are looking forward to staying there again soon!

We went up for one night and were so happy. They greeted us with a bottle of champagne (we had ordered it beforehand), there was a pie waiting for us when we got back from a long walk in the woods, and our room had a claw foot tub! It was a lovely night.
2.6 on September 26, 2012
The innkeepers and staff couldn't be nicer, but the room we were in was small and fusty rather than cozy, and dark/dim due to small windows and inadequate lighting to compensate. We stayed in "Enchantment" as we were traveling with our daughter and this is the only room large enough for a cot, but it isn't really large enough for a cot. If you are a couple, the room is probably large enough, but if you are traveling w/kids you'd probably be better off at one of the chain hotels nearby.
5 on September 19, 2012
Vera, Dave, & Co at Pig Hill hosted an entire bridal party and all of the groomsmen over a long weekend. The rooms were perfect and cozy and the Pig Hill folks could not have a been more accommodating to a rowdy (at times), crazy, and scattered bunch. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and how can you beat blueberry pie left out at night for the guests to dig into at will?? We'll be back.
3.6 on September 18, 2012
I can't give the "value" more than 3 stars, or review "dining," simply because my wife and I only stayed one night and the stars for dining are really for breakfast. Everything we experienced was terrific: the clean and pleasant room, an excellent breakfast in the backyard that alone made us want to come back and laze around in the sunshine. Of the three rooms on our floor, one has its assigned bathroom out on the landing. This was the room we got, and even though the bathroom is not shared, it's a bit awkward to have to dress just to dart there, in case someone sees you. This is not the fault of the inn, but in the future we'll try to reserve early enough to ensure we get a room with the bathroom inside. The staff were friendly and helpful - and there were fresh home-made pies offered, on the house, each day! We hope to stay at the Pig Hill Inn again.

This Inn on the hill approaching the Hudson River is always consistent. The innkeeper and owner are there everytime I stay there and are both hospitable in the best sense of the word. The breakfast is lovely and since I often have to leave early in the morning, Dave makes accommodations for me so I get a very nice breakfast before I head out.

We stayed here on the recommendation of a friend and I just told him how grateful we are! We loved the blue room and the bathroom was so nice. The breakfasts were some of the best we have ever had at a B & B and we stay at them whenever we travel. We were so pleased, we stayed another day! and went to the Shakespeare theatre( great) but the room wasn"t quite as nice as the first night. The bathroom was very small and it. was on the 3rd floor.. Vern(sp), the owner is wonderful and se helpful with directions and sugestions. Loved the breakfast room and the little bar and the cookies and the blueberry pie that awaited us at the end of the night! Thanks, John and Mary Ann, Chicago
5 on August 10, 2012
This was the most sensational location; just a couple minutes walk from the train station and right in the middle of downtown. The rules clearly state that there is a hefty fine for anyone caught smoking in the rooms, so that was a big relief due to our smoke allergies. Dave was managing the inn during our stay and what a fantastic host he was! We had a night working schedule at the time and he went EXCEEDINGLY far out of his way to make sure we were able to wake up and eat when it was the most convenient for us. We absolutely plan on returning.

Stayed at the Pig Hill Inn for one night for our anniversary. What a lovely place. The staff were very welcoming and once we had been shown where we could have breakfast, either in the conservatory or outside in the garden, we were taken to our room. The Tranquillity room is lovely with a large jacuzzi bath and four poster bed. There is coffee making facilities and cake that you can help yourself to which you can have in the main reception area of the inn or take it to your room. A great place to stay and would definitely go back again, maybe when its colder so we can have the log burning stove on that was in our room!
5 on August 09, 2012
The Inn was wonderful. The owner and his associates were very customer-oriented. The breakfast was great! One suggestion, my daughter and I are early risers, i.e., 6:30; a coffee set up would have been very welcomed, as we went out each morning for coffee, since breakfast began at 8:30 am. We are definitely going back!

Our only regret was staying just one night at the pig hill inn. Simply put, it was perfect. The room was extremly well kept and had its own quaint little charm. Pig Hill Inn and I were made for each other. Having grown up in Cold Spring, I have seen the lovely and wonderfully classic changes that have been made in my homegrown town on the Hudson. The Pig Hill Inn is no exception. Beautifully restored and elegantly decorated, the Inn took me back to home to the Cold Spring I have always loved. The hospitality, the elaborate breakfasts and service, the heated towels, the canopy bed and tranquility all intertwined with one another for a beautiful experience. I stayed at the Inn during my return to Cold Spring for my book signing at a local gift shop up Main Street. Pig Hill Inn is added to my list of old Cold Spring friends to visit with when I return home.

The Pighill is a charming place to stay in a delightful location; and a MUST go-to getaway for anyone who does not wish to drive. Location is a short, easy walk up the hill from the RR. Down the hill at the river in Coldspring you feel transported into a Hudson River Painting. Friendly helpful staff at the Inn and tasty cookies and tea are a plus. A lovely B&B in a charming town. The service was warm and friendly and the rooms cozy with antique touches. The only downside is that one hears much of what is happening outside the room in the hallway thus making it feel slightly less private. We had really nice time there and wished we could have stayed longer.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for the weekend (yes, the Pig Hill Inn is gay-friendly, a plus). Our room was quaintly decorated and the big 4-poster bed was heaven--we both slept like babies. The staff (all 3 of them) was very helpful, attentive, and friendly. The homemmade breakfast both mornings was delightful--fresh and hit the spot. We dined in the lovely greenhouse (if it's not too hot out, recommend dining outside in their garden). The homemade baked treats laid out mid-afternoons were perfect as post-hiking/kayaking or late-night snacks. Dave's glazed lemon cake was awesome (you could taste the zest). The inn was the perfect relaxing spot for our weekend getaway. I would recommend this B&B to my friends and would happily stay here again for any return trips to Cold Spring.

Outstanding location for a visit to the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival -- as well as all the terrific local attractions (Beacon, Dia, etc.). Delightful innkeeper; excellent breakfast; warm welcome and excellent suggestions for local attractions. One afternoon they served a memorably wonderful blueberry pie with tea.

I thoroughly enjoyed my one night stay at the Pig Hill Inn. The reception was warm, the room was cozy and clean, breakfast was excellent, and the owner and manager both gave me rides to places I wanted to vist so that I didn't need to call a taxi. Wonderfully helpful. I highly recommend the Pig Hill Inn.

A remarkably inviting space. The innkeeper is uniquely generous and able to make personal accommodations and give great advice at the drop of a hat. Would happily stay again.

We come to Cold Spring each summer and have now stayed at the Pig Hill Inn two years in a row. We absolutely LOVE this B&B! Vera is very kind and attentive... she even offered to drive us to a show we were going to. I highly recommend staying here if you're going to be in Cold Spring. You will not be disappointed.

My wife and love trips to Cold Spring- beautiful scenery, cute town, great hikes and pleanty to do. The Pig Hill Inn is in a great location on Main Street in town. Our room was clean and nice and the breakfast areas were perfect- we loved eating on the patio outside. The afternoon baked goods werte fantastic. The breakfasts were nice and pletntiful, but nothing too special ( not that I am complaining). The service was fantastic, very friendly. Vera ( the owner) went out of her way to provode us with items we needed for a picnic taht we dod not ahve with us. We will definitely stay there again.

PHI in perfectly located in the heart of Cold Spring, walking distance to trains, yet not noisy. Rooms are comfortable, furnished with a CS antiquity feel. Books are everywhere. Best is the breakfast, starts with fresh fruit, then several choices cooked to order...delicious! Hosts are friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The hosts were welcoming and helpful. The inn as a wonderful outdoor space for breakfast which is quiet and far away from any street noice even though the inn itself is in the middle of Cold Springs.

This place is uber charming - made so especially by the genuine warmth of the owner and the people who work there. Breakfast was great... the little pig decoration details are sweet... I would stay there again in a heartbeat. I also love the town and the nearby Stonecrop Gardens - don't miss those!!

I stayed in the Mountain View room on the third floor. The room itself was lovely – very bright and clean. The two chairs in there were SUPER comfortable. They were great spots to read and relax. It has a detached bathroom but it is private, so it was only used by me. I was disappointed that bathrobes were not provided. The bathroom lock was faulty. I was able to spin it both directions and it didn’t seem to catch properly. Eventually, I would use the bathroom and not lock the door because I was scared of getting locked in. The bathroom had a claw foot bathtub that was really awkward. I had a hard time climbing in and out – so if you have any mobility issues – this is not the room for you. My bathroom just seemed dingy and in need of repair. For example, behind the toilet tank there was an area of the dry wall that had been replaced but never painted to match the rest of the wall. You can’t really hear any noise from the street so it is very quiet. There is a little bar on the first floor but I never saw the inn keeper or owner at night in case you did want to buy a glass of wine – I’m not sure if it was self-serve and honor system with paying? The living room/common area space is not very large and is a bit dark. The Inn is a smoke free inn but there was cigarette smoke coming up from the basement. The breakfasts were decent. I had an omelet one day and waffles the next. The bacon is pretty amazing. The owner, Vera, is very nice but she is not on premises. The inn keeper, David, was around mainly for breakfast. They are very knowledgeable about the area and had recommendations for food and directions to get to local attractions. The dining area has separate seating and you can eat outside if you choose. The outside was also nice. All in all the inn is decent and you cannot beat the location. Right on Main street with all the shops, restaurants and the pier within walking distance.
3.8 on June 11, 2012
The rooms are charmingly rustic with a wood burning fireplace, air conditioning, very good bathroom facilities and stall shower. The bed was comfortable and the room was rustic but inviting. Downstairs is a ;living room with comfortable chairs, warm cookies, coffee and teas and muffins. Behind the building is a newer greenhouse in which a complete cooked breakfast is served by people who enjoy taking care of guests. Behind the greenhouse is a garden with tables and chairs to enjoy a balmy evening. Bottom Line: We would happily stay there again.

We stayed in the Danish Blue Room and the website indeed underplays its charm and beauty. Everything about the room was comfortable and inviting (would have preferred a larger bathtub). The breakfast was so incredibly delicious, better than anything I expected. Service was welcoming and first rate.

My family recently took over the Pig Hill Inn as we attended a Memorial Celebration in Cold Spring. Vera and Dave took great care of us, making sure we were all comfortable. The rooms are charming and spacious. We had delicious made-to-order breakfasts each morning. The afternoon tea and dessert was always a surprise and delicious. We loved the outdoor patio where we could sit over tea or a glass of wine and enjoy a great family reunion. You can manage quite well without a car at the Pig Hill Inn. It is located just minutes from the train to New York.but you can have hours of fun in the shops and restaurants of Main Street.
4.6 on May 21, 2012
This was my second stay at the Pig Hill Inn. In many ways it is an ideal place: comfortable, clean, perfect location on Main Street close to the waterfront. Not fussy or too frilly as so many inns can be, it has a slightly worn quality appropriate to a place in an old building, in an old town. The people who work here are low-key but helpful and quite friendly. Once you check in, it's a short stroll to relax in the waterfront park (maybe with an ice-cream cone or shake from Moo's), poke into the shops along Main, or have a great dinner at any of several nearby restaurants. There's also plenty of hiking and kayaking awaiting as well. Cold Spring is a special place to me and the Pig Hill Inn is where I will always stay.

My wedding was on May 12, 2012 in Garrison, NY, and my now-husband and I, along with most of our wedding party, took over the Pig Hill Inn for the weekend. I could not have been any happier with the property or with the service we received. All of the rooms were comfortable and unique, and the common areas were lovely. Best of all, the breakfast was out of this world! Freshly baked muffins and scones, delicious eggs made to order, sausage, bacon - the works. We also loved the fresh cake that the inn put out in the afternoons and the tea that was always ready. The innkeepers and staff were very sweet and unobtrusive, but always there when we needed anything. A wonderful place to stay!

This charming bed and breakfast provides a wonderfully romantic getaway combining the beautiffully scenic Cold Spring community with great shops, restaurants and bars all in walking distance and nearby touring attractions and incredible views of the Hudson River and mountains. The inn is beautifully furnished, quiet and private. We stayed in the Tranquility room which was spacious and romantically cozy with amazing jacuzzi and wood burning stove. The staff was incredible, helpful but respectful of our privacy. The breakfast was amazing. All in all a great opportunity for a short break from the routine of daily living and time to relax and enjoy quality time together.

The Pig Hill Inn in Cold Spring, NY is a charming place to stay. The staff is lovely and go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are spotless. My only frustration was small -- the wireless internet was a little spotty. But honestly, that was probably my own fault, as I didn't let anyone know. I'm sure they would have done something to fix it quickly. I recommend this inn, and I would stay there again.

This was my second stay at the Pig Hill Inn and it gets better every time i stay here. The room was ready for our unexpected early check in and a homemade apple pie had just been placed in the pantry for guests to snack on. Breakfast is unbelievably generous and can be had in the solarium or privately in your room. Overall, a lovely gem of a B&B in a beautiful area of the Hudson Valley.

The Pig Hill in is perfectly located, the room was comfortable and quiet. The real plus to this B&B is the lovely welcoming feeling, the host is friendly and makes amazing pie which is left out for guests to 'snack' on. The breakfast was equally wonderful, great portions, perfectly cooked...could not be better. A highly recommended experience.

I thought our stay at the inn was great; everything was done perfectly, it was very charming and the people were great too and it was very good bargain as far as B&Bs go. The fireplace in the room, wow, that part really hits it on the mark ... a very cute B&B, and both B's, especially the second B was/were great too. Would highly reccomend, would return.

My wife and I have been coming to the Pig Hill Inn for weekend getaways from New York City for 3 years now, and we absolutely love it. First off, the trip from the city is as easy as can be--take the train up from Grand Central and walk literally 2 blocks to the inn. The town is lovely, with numerous shops for everything from antiques to toys to clothes and a good mix of eateries--from french bistro to italian food to take-out Chinese food. The surrounding environs are beautiful, with the river just at the end of main street, numerous hiking trails and paths just outside of town, West Point nearby--just a beautiful part of New York State. Now focusing on the inn itself, the staff is incredibly warm and helpful but not intrusive--if you want a private weekend away, they are more than happy to facilitate that. The breakfasts are wonderful--eggs, sausage/bacon, and either frnech toast or waffles or pancakes or any combination of the above, along with fresh juice, fresh fruit, coffee, muffins. There is also always tea and coffee available in the pantry at any hour and a fresh pie or cake or brownies or such set out every afternoon at tea-time-ish. The rooms are beautiful, we always stay in "Tranquility" on the top floor with a canopy bed, wood-burning stove, and en-suite bath with 2-person jacuzzi tub. This room is lovely, though I have peeked into other s and they all seem just as nice. Overall, for the price and the convenience of access from the city, this place can't be beat and makes for a wonderful romantic weekend getaway in any season.

Packed with interesting antiques, art and memorabilia of all sorts, our stay at Pig Hill Inn was enlivened by exceptional service from check-in through hearty breakfast and even including brushing snow from our car windows as we departed into the dregs of a spring storm. An excellent place to stay, it is near fine dining and numerous points of interest.

Although the room was a bit smaller than what we are use to, our stay At "Pig Hill Inn" was everything a romantic getaway should be. We had a beautiful romantic canopy bed, control of the thermostat that kept our room at just the right temp for us. We like it a bit on the cool side. The Inn keeper was gracious, friendly & helpful. We had a gorgeous bathroom. The bathroom jacuzzi made the day! It was awesome to relax in there together. The breakfast was great. Although I tend to not use salt, I found the omelet to be salty. But that's my personal taste. Otherwise the blueberry pancakes were excellent. Although they were totally booked, the inn was quiet & peaceful. The place was immaculate. Each time we went out our room was cleaned, linens & towels changed. We were on the third floor, which made for a nice walk up which we quickly got use to. The atrium where breakfast was served was cozy and so cute. I loved the chandelier. We had a great time discovering the quaint town of Cold Springs & I did some really nice shopping, The only thing I can complain about was that the downstairs main sitting area was too warm. It was a small space with the fireplace running all day. Which for my taste kept it overheated. Again, that is my personal opinion, since I tend to like a cooler room. There were people sitting & reading there that looked perfectly comfortable. All in All, I would rate our Romantic Week-End Getaway - Excellent.

This is a wonderful, and wonderfully run, B&B. Vera saw to us for our two night stay recently and she was nothing but overtly pleasant, welcoming and helpful. We were looking for a place to unplug from city life for a few days and this was just the place. The breakfasts, served in your room should you choose, are absolutely outstanding. It's a charming old building in a charming old town.

Sometimes you simply need a quik slip from the NYC, in a quaint home like feeling of a B& B. This I found at the Pig Hill Inn. Warm and inviting from the moment you step foot in. Hot TASTY applepie for your pleasure in the evenig with either Tea or Coffee that can be taken to you room. and a sweet treat of a great full spread breakfast. Just what was needed for a fast overnight stay. Thank you to the owners of Pig Hill Inn!

Beautiful, cozy house with lots of books and unusual odds and ends, some of them for sale; also very pretty & funky items in the gift shop. Pig Hill Inn was recommended to me by someone with discriminating taste, so the bar was set high. Thankfully I wasn't disappointed by anything except the breakfast. The room was spacious and lovely, it was a very nice, comfy and clean inn and the location was absolutely perfect to getting around town. Breakfast was not satisfactory, unfortunately. The portions were a bit meager to be honest (and we aren't a couple who overeats) and it was a bit on the flavorless side. It was also cooked way too quickly to be fresh. That being said, it was fine - I just had much higher expectations. It would absolutely not deter us from staying here again and again. We had a great weekend there!

I booked the Victorian Room for my fiance's birthday and we were very pleased. The inn keeper suggested a very nice restaurant for us around the corner and we returned to champagne in the room. Very cozy place with an excellent breakfast, also in bed, next to a wood fired stove. We only wished checkout was later than 11am.

Extremely comfortable and welcoming -- really an inn, so you don't feel like you're intruding on anyone. It's an old house, so a lot of sound carries from room to room, but if everyone is respectful, it's fine. The breakfast was absolutely delicious -- omelettes made to order, bacon, sausage, fresh muffins, fresh pancakes, the works! To watch a sporting event in the evening, we had to go downstairs to find a TV, but that was fine.

He offered to call the local restaurants for us so that we would still be able to find dinner. Can't wait to go back!

My girlfriend and I recently stayed here for a weekend; we don't drive, so we needed a place that was close to the Metro North. The Pig Hill Inn is about 200 ft from the station, which is convenient. The moment we walked in, we were in a different world. The staff was courteous, funny, and extraordinarily accommodating. The room was fantastic; the bed was beautiful and very comfortable, and we had our own wood-burning stove which they'd pre-stocked with logs. Cold Spring is a VERY small town but offers some great restaurants, and the Pig Hill Inn was a fantastic spot to come home to. We will DEFINITELY be staying there again; the breakfast alone was worth the price!!

Our schedule and the Inn availability aligned this year and we finally got a chance to stay there and enjoy a wonderful weekend in early November. Dave and Vera were very helpful in helping us pick a room, even accommodating a schedule change. The Victorian Elegance room was perfect; a Franklin Stove in the room and a clawfoot tub in the bathroom provided romantic amenities. The breakfasts were five star with fresh local ingredients. Fresh baked goods were available in the afternoon for snacks. All this and a convenient train ride from New York made it easy to leave the car at home. We will be back for sure.

Our first night there was no power and they were kind enough to upgrade us to a room with a fire place. The beds were quite uncomfortable and we woke up with back pains. Breakfast was yummy but, as a coffee drinker we found the coffee to be quite bland. Other than that the inn was absolutely charming, very clean, and the staff very helpful and friendly. I would definitely return and pick another room for fun! :-)

I came here for two nights when the contractor took my entry, stairs and bathroom out of commission. I also stayed here years ago when I was living in New York City. What a treat! The bed was perfect - and I have trouble with beds as a rule; the tub was so deep I took two baths; and I lit a fire in the wood-burning stove both nights. I knew from previous stays that the breakfasts are the best in Cold Spring, but I had to leave at 6:00 a.m. for work. So the Inn left a wrapped, homemade muffin on top of the coffee maker, and butter, jam, and a fruit bowl in the tiny fridge nearby. All I had to do was push the button to start the coffee and eat. (The coffee maker's heat warmed the muffin, by the way!) A nurturing place in a charming village. Highly recommended.

The service is warm and welcoming. The rooms are perfectly cozy with wood-burning stoves, comfortable beds. The breakfasts are hands-down the best we've ever had in a B&B. The generous servings, plus the complimentary afternoon homemade pie or cake, makes the nightly rates all worth it (especially if you book a room that features an en-suite soaking tub). There are no phone, TVs or computers. This is where you go to disconnect, slow down and rejuvenate.

Booked this room based on other reviewers comments. The place did not disappoint. Atmosphere, people, food, location -- all just what the doctor ordered for this work-weary couple. Loved Cold Spring itself and the views on the Hudson. Only wish there was some kind of boat ride that was offered right there. It would have been a great thing to do on an autumn day in NY.

A beautiful fall weekend on the Hudson River with beautiful views suddenly turned into a raging blizzard in the NE. Electricity was out for 18 hours, but we were still cozy and well taken care of. Candlelight, fireplaces...need I say more. Each day of our 4 day stay was started with a wonderful breakfast. The omelets were "to die for". I could never talk my husband in to staying at a Bed and Breakfast before but now he is asking me when/where we can go to our next one. The decor fits the home so well. The gift shop is stocked with quality items at an affordable price. Cold Springs, NY, is a destination weekend that I would recommend and Pig Hill Inn projects the heart and spirit of the community. We could not have left feeling any better about our stay. I felt like I had known the owners for a long time and have made new friends.

Breakfasts were outstanding served in a cozy added room on the first floor......and the Innkeeper prepared muffins that were great. Also a nice touch was hot water available always for tea, hot chocolate, etc. AND in the late afternoon an apple pie was there one day and rugala the next.

Even though the Inn is not really handicapped accessible, we were able to make it work for my husband who is in a wheelchair. The owner and staff were exceedingly gracious and did everything in their power to make our stay pleasant and memorable.

A great place for a getaway girls' weekend. Thanks for everything!

The Pig Hill Inn is, indeed, full of pigs (inanimate ones, that is). The house is nicely furnished with antiques. The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit cup, home-baked coffee cake, juice, and a choice of an omelet or waffles. Dave, the owner, didn't seem like the typical owner of a place filled with antiques, and he was a little uneasy with small talk, but he does all his own cooking and it is good.

Incredible. Really love this place--took the boyfriend here this past weekend for his birthday. We stayed in the Tranquility Room, and it was beautiful! The place is charming and warm, small in that cozy kind of way (but not cramped). We were greeted by Dave, who proceeded to give us a tour, immediately offered us apple pie and tea (which we devoured in the lovely greenhouse dining area), then took us up to our room. And what a room! The four poster bed with the swaths of gauzy cloth, the chilled bottle of bubbly, the wood burning stove, the huge bathroom with the 2-person Jacuzzi...amazing. The room (and all the other rooms...we peeked around during the weekend) is much bigger than we expected, and the other rooms were so prettily done, each appointed with its own charming character. The best part for us was breakfast. Pig Hill gives its guests an option of having breakfast either in the greenhouse room or having it brought to them at the time they request (we did this both mornings...it was sooo indulgent and lovely). The food came fresh, hot, and delicious--we didn't want to get out of bed after eating! Our second day, we were late coming out of our room and missed having our room cleaned. Vera very sweetly waved off our apologies and let us wander off in town. We came back to a perfectly turned down room and a hot blueberry pie on the counter. Felt so spoiled! The town is quiet, quaint, and full of antique and craft shops and art galleries. There are a couple of good restaurants here, but the main point is, this B&B fulfills what its guests seek---pampering, comfort, and indulgence. We can't wait to be back!

The Pig hill in was very nice in a quaint little town of Cold Spring new York. It was a great place, although maybe a little pricey. The breakfast was truly outstanding. Being on the main street is somewhat noisy and the town picks up recycling at 3:15 am.

Nice location on Main St. Vera is welcoming and helpful. She referred us to a wonderful local restaurant, RiverView, for a delicious dinner. The inn is charming, rooms are large but bathroom was small and towels were thin. Breakfast was good and service was excellent. Didn't meet innkeeper but saw him in passing. Some cigarette odor but overall, a nice escape.

This past Columbus Day weekend, my wife and I returned to the Pig Hill Inn for our 25th. We stayed here on our first anniversary and never made it back. We are very happy to have returned. Vera, Jean, and Dave were excellent hosts, and made our anniversary special. I'm surprised Vera didn't have a cape and a big red S on her chest because she was SUPER! The baked goods were a constant temptation, breakfast was delicious, and the coffee was superb. Vera made reservations for us at the Riverside Inn and we had a wonderful dinner there. The only disappointment was Monday morning when I brought my guitar down to the lobby and played a little as I promised Vera I would before I checked out, but she wasn't in on Monday morning. Jean seemed to enjoy it, and nobody threw anything at me, so all was well. Tranquility (the room) is all about the bed and the bathroom. After 25 years, we just don't spen all day in bed anymore, so next time, and I guarantee it will not be 24 years, we're going for more room and less bathroom. I would highly recommend the Pig Hill Inn to anyone looking for a romantic getaway, or just a place to chill out and take in the beauty and scenery of the Hudson Highlands. Thanks to Vera, Jean and Dave for putting the "special" in our special weekend. Ralph & Donna R. Meriden, CT

I went to the Pig Hill Inn for Columbus day weekend. I was very pleased with the stay and the friendliness of the staff. The room was very clean and the staff were very accommodating and courteous. Their Breakfast was absolutely fantastic, I will definitely be staying at this location again. Their prices is incredibly reasonable but the friendliness and hospitality you will experience there is definitely priceless.

We spent two days in October at the Pig Hill Inn. The room we've had before was nicer than the one this time, which was quite dark. Also, a few more hints on nice hikes in the area might have been helpful. Other than that, everything was excellent, especially the service during breakfast.

Recently stayed at Pig Hill Inn with some old friends. There were six of us, and everyone was very pleased with the Inn. The facilities were much nicer and larger than the website suggested. I was especially impressed with the breakfast options--hot cooked breakfasts with freshly baked gluten-free breads for me! That was totally unexpected and deeply appreciated. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. I look forward to another stay.

I recently stayed at the Pig Hill Inn with my 3 children. The hospitality & service was exceptional! The complimentary breakfast exceeded my expectations. The inn was charming - rooms clean and spacious. Complimentary coffees, teas and wonderfully baked pies and cakes. Walking distance to everything as it is located on Main Street. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Looking forward to visiting again in the near future.

We had a fantastic stay at the Pig Hill Inn. We did not want to come home. The rooms were amazing, the owners were very friendly and we will definitely go back. The courtyard is lovely for a coffee and reading the paper, maybe even breakfast on a Sunday morning. In a perfect spot on the main street and close to everything, even the train station.

The facility is lovely. The owner is a delight, and her staff is helpful, friendly and accommodated our special requests. Apart from the lovely dining area, there is little common area to spend time in, so interaction among guests (sometimes a nice feature of B&Bs) was minimal. We stayed in the Enchantment room. It is beautifully decorated, clean, comfy bed, nice one-person Jacuzzi, etc. Particularly for the price, we thought the room was small, with the dark red walls making it feel even smaller.

I took a few days off from work and came to stay at the Pig Hill Inn during the week. It was a very clean, modern, and relaxing place to stay. The 200 year old decor was complemented with new air conditioning and other things that could be found at newly constructed inns. The service and food was also great, especially for the price. I would definitely come back here again.

My sister and I visited Pig Hill Inn in July - We had a very nice stay, room was clean, bright and attractive. the breakfast was excellent and the service very friendly. The only drawback was the limited parking (room only for 3 cars) and limited public area within the inn. The location was very good, close to restauants and the Hudson and many attractions. I would definitely recommend this inn.

Just an hour and a half north of New York City on the Hudson River, Cold Spring is a beautiful and quite little town with plenty of relaxation opportunities for a weekend get away. My girlfriend and I stayed at the Pig Hill Inn and had a wonderful experience there. The room, Enchantment, was perfect for us with a nice bed and beautiful bathroom. Not much of a view from our rear facing room, but that was okay with us as we wanted seclusion. I would stay here again!
5 on August 10, 2011
My stay at the Pig Hill Inn was outstanding. I don't know what the other rooms are like but The Enchantment Room was great. Private bathroom, lovely setting and very cozy. The bathroom even had a jacuzzi. The Hostess was soooo sweet and attentive. She made the most amazing breakfast the morning after. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Again, I don't know how the other rooms are, but it was a great stay and I would definitely go back someday.

The home was beautiful, the room fantastic, and Cold Spring is a cozy little town with revisiting. My wife and I are both vegans, and while Pig Hill Inn does not intentionally cater to vegans, Dave and Vera went above and beyond - asking for specific requests in advance, purchasing special ingredients only for us, outside of their normal breakfast fare, to include vegan, gluten-free muffins. We were treated like absolute royalty!

We stayed two nights and really enjoyed the whole experience. The hosts were very sweet and the breakfast was very good, better than I had expected. We arrived very late the first night due to flight issues and they waited up to greet us and help us get situated. We stayed in the tranquility room and it was clean and nicely decorated and the four post bed was very comfortable. Great location, near restaurants and a short walk to the Hudson River pavilion. We enjoyed the Italian restaurant a few doors up the street, classy. We would definitely stay there again.

The Pig Hill Inn is located in quaint Cold Spring, NY. The location is perfect for a quiet getaway in the Hudson Valley. There are many dining choices, the waterfront is relaxing, the main street offers several antique shops and the train into NYC is minutes away. Breakfast was generous, relaxing and the perfect way to start the day.

I arrived at the Pig Hill Inn on a brutally hot summer afternoon. I had planned to make the 10-minute walk to the local wine store, but given the extreme heat asked PHI staff if I might find what I needed somewhere closer. I was immediately offered (and gratefully accepted) a ride to the wine store. So kind and beyond the call of duty! The food matches the hospitality, and the inn itself is absolutely charming -- what can I say, I adore creaky wooden stairs. Though my friends and I discussed spending more time in Beacon summer, we will stay in Cold Spring at the Pig Hill Inn.

Went to Cold Spring for a day trip and stayed at the Pig Hill Inn. This is a truly great place for a peaceful and restorative getaway. Pig Hill is a fantastic Bed and Breakfast with a kind staff, a great breakfast, and great "extras" like homemade pie. Our room was nice and had a nice jacuzzi and champagne. The town is nice to explore and their are beautiful scenic views really nearby as well. Pig Hill, though, made it all extra special. You will not regret staying at the Pig Hill Inn. Definitely a great place to make some fond memories.

My girlfriend and I wanted a short easy getaway from Manhattan for the 4th of July weekend. The Pig Hill Inn in Cold Spring gave us exactly what we needed with comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast and a great location in the middle of town. A nice place to stay in the heart of Cold Spring. The room was a bit dark, but well furnished and clean. No coffee prep facilities in the rooms, but you have access to hot water, tea, and apple pie downstairs at all times. Very quiet. Breakfasts were terrific, served in a lovely room. Wifi in rooms can be spotty, but access is good in the sitting room.

My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Pig Hill Inn! Our room was charming: it had lovely old antique furniture, and the bed was very comfortable. The ensuite bathroom even had an enormous jacuzzi tub, which was a very big hit! The food was great, and the proprietors, Vera and Dave, couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. They were very careful to accommodate my food allergies, made dinner reservations for us at a lovely French bistro across the street, sent champagne to our table, and Dave even the prepared breakfast for us at 3am the day we left so that we'd have sustenance for our early flight. It was the loveliest beginning of a honeymoon imaginable! We're already planning to stay there again!

When checking in at the Inn we were greeted by one of the owners who offered to upgrade our room free of charge since there weren't many reservations at the time. We ended up staying in "Danish Blue", a beautiful room with a queen-size bed, wood-burning stove (complete with Duraflame), and a beautiful bathroom with exposed-brick walls. We stayed for only one night but were able to enjoy all that the Inn had to offer. Afternoon Tea, which was a hot water urn and a selection of tea-bags or hot cocoa to choose from, served with fresh-baked cookies, was enjoyed out in the garden seating area tucked away behind the old buildings on the hill with a view of the Hudson in the distance. Breakfast in Bed came right on time, and they do it RIGHT. We enjoyed scrambled eggs with bacon and toast, a belgian waffle with toast and strawberry garnish, o.j., fruit bowls, fresh coffee, muffins, everything you could want upon waking. We only wished we could have stayed to enjoy another breakfast in the greenhouse dining area to get the full experience. We're definitely going back, we had a lovely time and we want to stay in more of the rooms!

Dave welcomed us and showed us to one of the most comfortable, beautiful and charming rooms I have ever seen (we stayed in Danish Blue). Fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies awaited us downstairs and we enjoyed them on the outdoor patio with tea. Dave was kind, helpful and accessible. Everything in the bedroom was clean and comfortable with just that touch of "home." We had an extraordinary breakfast in bed the next morning (coffee, juice, muffins, fruit, waffles, bacon, eggs!) Food cooked with heart. I will go back as soon as I can!

Meant to make Pig Hill Inn a place to sleep during a weekend of hiking, but the weather did not cooperate. Fortunately, the Inn was such a welcoming, homey place that the weekend was far from a disappointment. The owner even drove us out to a small hiking area so we could get some time to hike in before the rain hit hard. Also great how easy it is to get there from the city w/o a car.

My wife and I had a two night getaway here recently. A pleasant surprise was the free homemade dessert provided every afternoon/evening on the ground floor along with the round-the-clock hot water dispenser for tea. Made for a great post-dinner treat. It's right on Main Street so all the shops and restaurants are within a 1-5 minute walk.

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights recently and loved the inn. The staff went overboard on making sure that we had everything we needed and for the outstanding breakfast. I had to be in NYC for several days so commuting was an easy 2 blocks walk to the train station and then an relaxing 1 hour train ride into the city. We hightly recommend this inn to anyone looking to get away for a few days and will def. stay here again.

A quaint B & B in the heart of Cold Springs. Handy to everything in the village. The owners we unbelievable generous and friendly, making this stay a nice, welcome contrast to the rather brusque demeanor you find in New York City. Overall, a terrific stay. Would definitely visit the Pig Hill Inn again.
3.2 on April 21, 2011
The inn was very cozy and the staff friendly. Breakfast was very good & individual requests were easily accomadated. Room was quite small. Furniture was also small and did not hold much clothing, suitcase or vanity case. We did enjoy our stay because of the warm & friendly atmosphere.

The service is terrific. I find the owner and innkeeper very accommodating and the rooms are great. Breakfast is abundant; I generally cannot eat it all. It's a lovely part of Main Street, Cold Spring - close to train station for convenience but a block away so you don't hear the trains.
2.6 on April 18, 2011
- Only three blocks from the train, which makes a car optional for those traveling from NYC. - Beyond the convenient location, there's nothing that sets this B&B apart. - Breakfast was decent and filling. - Having a store in the check-in area and price tags on items in the room was tacky. - Housekeeping staff neglected to change the "Duraflame" log in the wood burning fireplace and to leave extra toilet paper in the bathroom.
4.6 on April 12, 2011
The Pig Hill Inn was an excellent place to go for the weekend - a beautiful room in a lovely town on the banks of the Hudson River. Dave was a great host - open and friendly, but respectful of privacy and space. We really felt like it was our place for the weekend. Breakfast was a feast, as at other B&Bs. But I appreciated their attention to detail and guests' needs when it came to food - they even asked about allergies. The best thing about it was the overall energy of the place - its warm, inviting feel made for a really special weekend. I would highly recommend the Pig Hill Inn. On top of it all, it is also walking distance from the train station. So there's no need for a car - just a Metro North ticket. It's the ideal escape from NYC.

This is a quaint, quiet, peaceful place with lovely decor and staff. Everyone was as kind and helpful as possible without impeding on our privacy at all. They left a pie in the common area in the evening so we could help ourselves to a treat. We did and it was wonderful. There are wood burning stoves in most rooms which is quite cozy in the winter. they very wisely use a special type of wood so that even city folk like me can have a fire with ease. We had a lovely, romantic stay. Thanks to everyone at Pig Hill!!

It was a nice quiet place to spend the night. The breakfasts were made to order and were great. The staff was attentive to our needs. The bed linens were thread bare and could have been better fitted to the mattress. It was located in the middle of town convenient to all the shops/restaurants. The restaurants in town were a dissappointment...they had resonably priced memus...there was one expensive exception...but you felt rushed to eat. One restaurant we ate at, did not accept credit cards...that was troublesome for us. We didn't realize it until we were looking over the memu...we happen to have enough cash... We do plan on going back in season when the local tourist attractions are open.

I cannot say enough about the place. It was very near the Cold Spring Metro North stop, which made it wonderfully convenient. I called at least 10 times before arriving for various reasons, and each time was helped very patiently and kindly. When I arrived, I was greeted very warmly, and found my room (The Mountain Vista Room) to be a wonderful little haven for my girlfriend and I, complete with the champagne I requested when making the reservation online. The room was beautiful and very cozy, the breakfast - which can either be eaten in the quaint Garden room, or brought to the room (a wonderful option for a Valentine's Day getaway) - was delicious (appropriately, the bacon was outstanding), and Cold Spring was a great little town to stroll through arm in arm. Additionally, one of the proprietors, Vera Keil, went above and beyond to make our stay memorable and enjoyable. For one, there was an issue where they somehow undercharged me for the room, which she made me aware of, and I agreed it was my fault and they should add the rest of the total on to my bill; however, she later approached me and thanked me for being so nice about handling it, and provided a mutually beneficial solution to the problem, without me having said a word to that end. But even as nice as that was (as a college student, it was fantastic to pay less), what I appreciated even more was the way she, as well as other staff members of the inn, recognized my girlfriend and I as individual people rather than just another set of customers. This may not sound revolutionary in an Inn with less than 15 rooms, but coming from the city, it was a wonderfully humanizing experience. All in all, I HIGHLY recommend the Pig Hill Inn. Go expecting a relaxing getaway from the turmoil of everyday life in a quaint and cozy rustic setting, and you will have every desire met. For the record, this is absolutely best enjoyed with a "special someone."

My husband and I love the Pig Hill Inn. We have stayed there four times so far and it has become a yearly tradition. The staff are warm and friendly, the rooms are cozy, each with their own fireplace or wood stove, breakfast is fantastic and every afternoon there is tea and a little something sweet laid out by the dining room. They really go out of their way to make sure you're had a perfect visit. It's the perfect getaway.

The Pig Hill Inn is a perfect place for a quick getaway from NYC. Easy train ride from the city and the Inn is less than a five minute walk from the station. The whole town is a delightful walk - plenty of interesting shops (Especially if you're into antiques) and good eats to be had. The keepers of the Inn are extremely friendly, welcoming, and accommodating (the owner offered her car to us!). They take great care in their breakfast and the dessert they leave for late night snacks. Our room was quite nice, comfortable, and clean! Definitely would recommend and go again ourselves.

My girlfriend and I loved our stay at the Pig Hill Inn. It was a short ride out of NYC on the Metro North and felt like it was thousands of miles away. Our room (Morning Ivy) was really quaint and homey. Nice shower, seating and comfortable bed. The fireplace was key. Breakfast was awesome and extensive. And the innkeeper Dave went above and beyond what we expected and really made our stay extra-special. We're already planning trip number 2.

We thoroughly enjoyed the beauty and quaint setting of Cold Spring. Breakfast was great - excellent service and hospitality as well as great food. The room (Victorian Elegance) did not feel comfortable. In particular, we had a very difficult time sleeping on the bed which was extremely soft and hurt our backs - understand the preference for charm but this should not come at the sacrifice of comforts.

We had a fabulous time at the Pig Hill Inn. We never have stayed at a B&B before & were surprised at how welcoming such an environment could be. It was like being home with strangers who were as nice and sweet as the pumpkin pie that was served.

I loved the Inn : fun and cozy decor, lovely room, lots of yummy food, and wonderful service. Vera took such good care of me, a solo traveler. And there's lots of places to hang out, snuggle up to read, or even shop in her little store with artsy things to buy. I would definitely stay there again, and recommend!

I took my husband to Pig Hill Inn for his birthday, and we stayed in the most romantic room, Tranquility, and indeed, it was!!! Upon entering the Inn, we were surrounded by such beautiful antique items that you can purchase in their store and we were offered some hot beverages and the best pumpkin pie I ever tasted. The whole place felt like I was in someone's lovely home. The Innkeepers were very hospitable and friendly and the breakfast was outstanding!!! Can't wait to go back!!! Thanks again for having us in your lovely Inn!!

We spent two nights in the "Enchantment" room. We are from NYC and wanted to take a weekend off in Cold Spring. This place is a gem! From the decor, to the food, to the rooms, to the staff - everything was perfect. The innkeeper, Kyle, is helpful, professional, and warm - truly a wonderful guy. In terms of price point, the inn compares more than favorably with others, given the level of service and quality. The level of attention was perfect - neither too much nor too little. The place felt "real," not like a foofy faux-Victorian tourist trap. But "real" without being rough around the edges. Also, you should be aware that there was free pie every night! (One night was pumpkin, the other apple.) Cold Spring is captivating and enchanting. If you get a chance, ditch the fancy restaurants, grab some sandwiches at the deli, and take a walk down Fair St. / River Rd. to the football and baseball fields by the river. Sit and watch the water, the mountains, and the trains. Specific things we liked: the wood-burning stove in our room, the breakfasts prepared by Kyle, all the decor, the comfortable warm bed, the green-filled views from our windows, and once again, Kyle himself. The other staff, including the Keil family who own the place, are also wonderful. Take it from us cranky, finicky New Yorkers: stay here, you won't be disappointed.

This was the most perfect little get away for my new husband and I to share our first night away as newlyweds! We walked in to literally a pie coming out of the oven and the innkeeper and cook congratulating us! Our room was beautiful, clean and very romantic. The wood burning fire was fantastic and we got a free log for the morning as well! I loved the books in our room. We got a great recommendation for a french restaurant across the street and then came home to our champagne on ice. We opted for breakfast in bed which was delicious and perfectly on time. We also picked up some great little gifts for our friends in their gift shop. We plan to go back for our anniversaries. We may even go back sooner! The ivy crawling the walls and the way the bed and breakfast seemed to be nestled into the mountain was picturesque. The town of Cold Spring itself was beautiful and we loved all the little shops. Can't wait to go back!

Pig Hill is a wonderful gem of a B&B located on Main Street in Cold Spring, NY. The inn is charmingly decorated with antiques and knick knacks everywhere. All the rooms are warm and inviting; we stay in the Enchantment Room with wood burning fireplace and Jacuzzi for 2! A superb 3 course gourmet breakfast is served in your room, leaving no room for lunch. There is always a choice of teas & coffee along with some sort of delicious pie left out for guests throughout the day. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about the area and attentive to your every need from suggesting restaurants to getting you an ice bucket with beautiful glassware for your wine or champagne. It is our perfect getaway which is why we have kept coming back over the past 20 years. Our special thanks to Kyle for everything! joAnne & Tom Forest Hills, NY

This was one of the best places I've stayed in a long time. The hospitality was so warm-you really feel at home. It's super clean and so relaxing. I didn't realize when I booked the room that the fireplace would actually be working! And I ordered sparkling wine to be in the room, and got a very pleaseant call asking me when I'd like it to be there. It was great. I'm going back soon!

We reserved this b and b for our Honeymoon, finding that it seemed classier and cozier than some of the neighboring places in Cold Spring. The atmosphere right as you walk in is warm and embracing and the service was very friendly. On our wedding night we had stayed at the Biltmore in Providence and for the price we were paying, I was extremely disappointed in the bathroom. So the next day when we traveled out to Pig Hill and stayed in the Tranquility room, I was floored by how great the bathroom was. While the price of the room at Pig Hill had me a little iffy at first, all of the aspects once we got there made up for it. Fresh apple pie and cookies in the dining room, the most delicious blueberry pancakes for breakfast in bed, and personal service from the staff all made me feel like we were really getting what we had paid for. I recommend Pig Hill 100% and look forward to returning.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Pig Hill last weekend and had a lovely time. It is a perfect location on Main Street in Cold Spring, and Kyle was very friendly and responsive to all our needs. We stayed at the Pig Hill Inn in the Tranquility Room for a weekend of hiking. Breakneck ridge and several trails were very accessible from the Inn. What distinguished this b&b is that the breakfast was amazing; we had crepes with strawberries and raspberries, fresh fruit, waffles w. berries, omelets, bacon, etc. kyle and wife were both very hospital, friendly, and catered to all your needs. it was truly a relaxing experience, and the best part is that you can get all the pie you want. the blueberry esp. was my favorite.

The Pig Hill Inn is a welcoming place to stay in Cold Spring. The entrance includes a store filled with jewelry and purses (which I took advantage of when checking out). We stayed in the Victorian Elegance room that had the bathroom attached. The room's decor was a hunting theme, and pheasants were repeated in the motif. The bed was comfortable. Hot tea and apple pie were available upon check-in, and on a chilly, rainy night hit the spot.

The Pig Hill Inn was exactly what we were looking for. My girlfriend and I live in New York City but wanted to get away for a day, and happened upon the Pig Hill Inn on the internet. We don't have a car, but it's a five-minute walk from the Cold Spring MetroNorth station, and very close to some really great hiking. The innkeeper was SO gracious to us even though we arrived at 11AM, and allowed us to check in early so we could go for a hike that afternoon. But before we left she insisted that we try some pumpkin pie which she was about to bake. It was delicious! The next morning breakfast was fabulous too. Blueberry pancakes, vegetable omelet, coffee, tea, toast, orange juice, fresh fruit, etc. I definitely recommend!

We have just stayed for the 3rd time at the Pig Hill Inn in Cold Spring, NY. , one of our favorite places to stay. If anyone is considering a visit to Cold Spring, we highly recommend this bed & breakfast. Vera Keil, the proprietor, is charming and professional, and her European flair is evident in the environment and furnishings. M & M Everything is very clean and comfortable. The rooms are very tastefully and comfortably furnished; charmingly rustic, yet quite luxurious at the same time. A few well chosen antiques, subdued tones, vintage prints, comfy beds, wood burning stoves (for a winter stay) all add to the romance and sophistication of the rooms. We stayed in the Windjammer which has a small on-suite bathroom with shower. There are some nice complimentary soaps and lotions. The breakfast was fabulous. In the glass enclosed breakfast room, we were served fruit, coffee, and a choice of omelet or special “round” pancakes that were a European version of New Orleans bananas Foster. Both were delicious. Downstairs, there is even a lovely small communal sitting area with antiques, a few games and books—uncommon in a B & B—and a small gift shop offering unique artist made handbags and jewelry. And another perk-- you are right there on Main Street where all interesting antique shops and restaurants are. Great for travelers like us, who choose to travel without a car.

The Pig Hill Inn is a charming B&B with a caring staff. When we left a message that we would be arriving late, Kyle quickly called back to confirm that the room would be held. Though the breakfast choices were limited, the ingrediants were fresh, the portions large and the waitress was pleasent and friendly. The Danish Blue room was comfortable and clean with the exception of the ceiling fan which looked as if it had not been cleaned since last summer. The bathroom was spacious and clean, though the position of the sink faucet made washing a bit awkward. If you are a light sleeper, take a room on the third floor as the sound of people walking above (wood panel floors) may wake you.
5 on August 24, 2010
The rooms, the food, the hosts -- everything you expect to be superior in a bed and breakfast establishment exceeds even those high expectations here. Kyle is a bit younger than you'd expect him to be, but his energy and affable nature are a plus. You can get a room here for around the same price as the big chains across the river, so why not?

Beautiful, comfy rooms, great setting for a quiet getaway still close to the city. The breakfast was great, as well as the afternoon treats.
5 on June 20, 2010
We stayed at the inn on 16 and 17 June 2010. The Morning Ivy room was beautiful and the mattress soft and luxurious. Kyle, the innkeeper as well as Vera the owner, made us feel very welcome, and the brownies upon arrival definitely helped to make it even more scrumptious. Breakfast was amazing and what made it even more special was that Kyle went out of his way to accommodate us since we are vegetarians. Breakfast was so good that we did not feel the need to eat at all during the day. A few things that really made it feel like home and breaking away from daily life were the shelves filled with books and the fact that there was no television to distract us. The Inn is made for a romantic interlude and there is literally nothing that the staff did not do to make it as pleasant as possible. The Inn is two blocks away from the station on the Metro North line from Grand Central and close to all the interesting antique shops and restaurants Cold Spring has to offer. We stayed there because we were going to the Hudson River Valley Shakespeare Festival, and since they are in partnership with the festival, actually got a special rate. It is also a mere 1,4 miles away from Boscobel where the festival is held, which means on a lovely day it is no stretch to even walk to the shows. They are affordable and they were very gracious hosts. We will not stay in any other inn when going to the Shakespeare festival again.

We loved the beautiful details of this inn -- a four poster bed so big we had to climb into it at night, fires in the parlor fireplace and in the woodburning room stove, as well as delicious, full breakfasts every morning in the glassed-in Victorian Greenhouse, with the snow swirling all around us. The owner and the innkeeper were amicable and helpful at all times. We especially enjoyed the lovely baked goods left out every afternoon for guests. A perfect way to spend the New Year break.
3.4 on January 03, 2010
The inn was charming, very clean, and centrally located. A fair number of the local shops appeared to be closed for the season, but there were still enough open to make a walk through the town worthwhile. There were a good five or six bars/restaurants open...we sampled the on-tap beer selection at McGuire's, enjoyed a couple of good salads (and the onion rings were excellent) for lunch , and chatted with the personable and engaging bartender. For dinner we passed up the somewhat overpriced French bistro, and opted for the more casual Spoon Cafe, enjoying our Cobb salad and wild mushroom ravioli. Back at the inn we were up in time for the first breakfast seating at 8:30am. The service was warm and friendly, and the food was excellent: a fruit plate, a couple of brioches, unlimited coffee refills, and entree choices of two eggs any style or pancakes. One of us had a tomato and cheddar omelet, the other had the "eggs in a hole" - a fried egg cooked in the middle of a slice of bread.
