The Guest House was built at the turn of the century; it still retains much of the old world flavor, such as gas fixtures and original moldings in some of the bedrooms. The house has three guest bedrooms, each with its own distinctive decor, and offers an eclectic and peaceful retreat from which guests can explore the proximity of local attractions in Manhattan as well as discovering the Bronx and lower Westchester. We cater to the non-smoking, cosmopolitan, and urban traveler and family from out of town. Wakefield is a multicultural, residential and middle-class section of the northeast Bronx in New York City, bounded by the New York city line with Westchester County to the north, 233rd Street to the south, and the Bronx River, Bronx River Parkway, Metro-North Railroad tracks to the west. Wakefield is the northernmost neighborhood in New York City. It is known for its diversity, history, and proximity to local attractions such as the Bronx Zoo and New York Botanical Gardens. All guests are asked to please participate in the recycling program set up by NYC.

I recently enjoyed a pleasant stay at Bronx Guesthouse. The room was tidy and very comfortable, and breakfast items included fresh fruit. After a hectic business day in Manhattan it was great to come back to such a charming place.

My experience at the Bronx Guesthouse was truly wonderful. Even though I arrived quite late, Denisey was welcoming and immediately made me feel right at home. There were freshly baked croissants in the morning & an assortment of cereals to choose from. All of the rooms are so nicely decorated & clearly special to Denisey & her guests. The location is also great, about three blocks from the train station and I enjoyed the neighborhood's culture. I will be staying there again in the future.
4.4 out of 5A breath of fresh air
October 03, 2010
We enjoyed our stay at BGH. It was like visiting one of your favorite Aunts, Chef Denisey made us feel welcome and at home. I was surprised and pleased that we could have our windows open and enjoy a breeze of fresh air circling through the house. The upstairs where we stayed had a kitchenette/dining room down the hall. As you know it can be very expensive in the city to eat out all the time. She introduced us to the Fairway open market grocery store. She is a wonderful cook who was willing to share some of her recipes with us.

I found my Home far from Home, thank you so so so much Denise! I spent a beautiful month in Bronx Guest House, a piece of Heaven in the big busy Apple! I have got a generous rich breakfast with all kind of drinks and cereals and fruits and i also had the chance to eat a wonderful breakfast cooked from Denise (the owner) in person wich was awsome! Besides that i found any kind of help from the owner wich is always ready to give you advices about where to go and what to do in NY and always at your disposal for any kind of information or request. She's amazingly kind and friendly. Hospitality and confort in a warm quite atmosphere is absolutely possible in the Bronx thanx to you Denise! I miss you Denise and Lucy and Flashy ecc..ecc.. hopefully see we soon at Bronx Guest House! waves from Marta (Italy)

4.8 out of 5An Awesome Green B&B!
February 18, 2010
Denise went out of her way to get special food for me and make sure I had everything I needed for my interview (like an ironing board and a car service to get there on time). The room was very comfortable, and this B&B is the greenest one I've seen, with rain water barrels, a garden, and composting going on! If you want to feel at home, stay here. :)
3.4 out of 5Home away from home. Nice house and nice people.
January 15, 2010
I was not sure what I was getting into. I thought in the worse scenario, I would move out the next day and get a refund. My wife and I got there and it was surprisingly nice and well maintained. And the owner was very nice.
3.8 out of 5A Frenchman in the Bronx
November 15, 2009
When i said to my family in France that i would stay in the Bronx, they called me a fool (i'm 52). But this place makes you forget where you are and i really encourage you to come around and have discussions with Denise on organic gardening (yes you're still in the Bronx!). As i said to her : à bientôt avec mon épouse et continuez, ce sont les gens comme vous qui ferez changer les esprits.
4.8 out of 5Wonderful, quiet place to stay
September 26, 2008
This was my first time staying at a B&B, and this place totally exceeded all of my expectations... The rooms were clean and cozy, the area was quiet, at the same time it only takes a couple of minutes to get to the subway or bus. So, all in all I had a wonderful and blessed stay. Even when I got sick, Denise and Edna went out of their way, got me some of my favorite tea and when i got home from a long day I found some tea prepared for me. I really felt home and will be back.
