Amsterdam Castle
Built in 1894 for the National Guard, the Phemister family converted this unique 50 room armory into their private residence. Featured on HGTV's Rezoned show, the castle has 50 rooms and covers 36,000 sq ft. Near Saratoga and Cooperstown, Amsterdam Castle's owners are European and speak French and German. Lush in-room breakfasts feature delicious pecan coffee, warm croissants and organic jams. Men love the 10,000 ft basketball gym while women enjoy the Victorian decor and hospitality. We use only environmentally friendly cleaning supplies and serve local farm produce whenever possible for a sustainable environment.
