"Perfect getaway"

"My husband and I needed a few days away in the summer from our busy life in Washington, DC, so we booked a stay at the Iris Inn. We also purchased the Wine Therapy package, which included tickets to local vineyard Veritas' Starry Nights, an event that includes a concert and dinner (available for purchase) and wine (available for purchase) outside. Unfortunately, it rained during the concert so we left early, but the rest of our stay at the Iris Inn was amazing. The room was huge and had a door to the outdoor porch (we were on the second floor) where there were porch swings, a hammock, and chairs to relax and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains. It was very peaceful and serene. As part of the package, we also did wine tasting at nearby vineyards (we went to 5 in one day), and later, Heidi cooked dinner for us, which was delicious. The final part of the package (my favorite) was dessert and wine pairings. The desserts were amazing, and they even accommodated dietary restrictions. We also did hiking at nearby Shenandoah National Park the next day and went to Staunton for dinner before leaving the next morning. Overall, it was a terrific trip and I enjoyed the wine package as well. Heidi and Dave are extremely welcoming but not overbearing, and their dog, Katie, was an added benefit because we love dogs. The inn is truly beautiful and in a great location with great views and lots to do in the area. I highly recommend the Iris Inn!"
