Grand Victorian at Spring Lake

We love this place! It is quaint and comfy. The staff is friendly and so helpful. It is right across the street from the beach and you really feel like you are part of the ocean! If you are looking for big, spacious rooms, this isn't the place. But if you are looking for a cozy, nautical room to rest your head, this is it. They have a restaurant downstairs which is awesome, and your stay includes a full breakfast. You can sit in their cozy lounge and have a glass of wine and play a board game. Wonderful!!

The location is amazing!!!!!!! Right across the street from the ocean. Service was excellent and very friendly. Rooms were nice - small but nice. Did not need anything else! We will definitely return!

I went down to Spring Lake for a birthday weekend beach celebration with a friend of mine and hadn't been to Spring Lake before. I chose to stay at Grand Victorian for it's proximity to the beach. The inn itself was very nice, directly across the street from the beach. It's great that there's a restaurant & bar in the Inn, very convenient to be able to walk downstairs and eat and drink and enjoy the beach view. Our room was very clean with a private bathroom and comfy beds. But I'm not sure it was worth $300/night. The restaurant downstairs is an absolute gem. Don't miss dinner there!

My husband and I had a wonderful and relaxing stay at the Grand Victorian. Every morning we had breakfast out on the wrap around pouch, the food was excellent. The staff was so very nice and helpful if we needed anything. Our room faced the ocean and it was just beautiful waking up to a sunrise. The room was very clean and painted in the ocean blue color which is very rexlaxing. We were very happy with our choice to stay at the Grand Victorian, and we will back.

Across the street from the beach with a glass of wine in a quant B&B. Great staff and restaurant. Very relaxing. Always a special stay.

Our room was on the second floor up two extremely narrow flights of stairs and bears no resemblance to the photos on this page.The headboard was coming away from the bedstead leaving a large gap between this and the mattress. The wardrobe had no handles on either door. The sink was also coming away from the wall. the blinds were broken. At these prices I am sure the owners could afford to maintain a better standard. It was not quaint or full of character just shabby. The only reason I assume it can command this price would be for the proximity to the beach.

I had a great weekend. Little pricey but the B&B is on the beach. Thinking about doing it again next year

We had a lovely weekend stay at the Grand Victorian. Our ocean view room was clean and comfortable; it was beautiful falling asleep and waking with the sound of the surf. the staff was very friendly and hospitable. I would definitely stay there again.

We went down for a nice quiet weekend in Spring Lake and was pleasantly surprised by how nice our stay was. The staff is lovely, the rooms are plane but very cute with all the essentials for your stay. Our bathroom was the only thing that could need some improvement as the shower was just too small to be practical and had a tendency to spew out cold water randomly. The included breakfast is exceptional and more than I was expecting. Beach passes, towels and chairs are available free of charge which was great since I live in the city and don't own these things. Overall it exceeded my expectations and I would definitely go back.

The Grand Victorian was a great place to stay during our visit to NJ to go to the Bamboozle Festival in Asbury Park. They were totally prepared with information and even helped us with the bikes we rented and giving us tips. The rooms were very clean, not that big but that's not an issue for me. The complimentary breakfast was fantastic and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Our room was dated but the breakfast was great and the staff was very friendly.

The bath was smaller than expected, but fine for the purpose it served. Wish the room descriptions were better. Ended up booking a room that only had a partial view of the water. Would have preferred a full view since it was the same cost. Also a bit high priced considering it was off season. The restaurant on the first floor was excellent. A little pricey, but the food proved worth it.

Stayed in an oceanview room - the view was great. But the restaurant, The Black Trumpet was the best part! Definitely eat there, it is worth the high price. FYI - It's BYOB.

We stayed at the top floor in a room with shared bathroom. The room seemed small on the picture but it fitted quite comfortably two people. The common shower and bathroom were really clean. Breakfast on the porch was the absolute summer delight.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Grand Victorian...it wasn't our first time in Spring Lake but it was our first stay at this B&B. The room was cozy and full of light, and the service was exceptional! From the staff behind the desk to the restaurant, everyone went out of their way to make our stay very comfortable. For one of the more affordable B&Bs in the area, we were very happy with our decision to stay at the Grand Victorian and will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful stay and we especially like to praise the ladies who served our meals in the morning and the help we received from the front desk. We ate one tasty meal in the evening at the Black Trumpet, but could only afford this one time experience due to prices. The food was very good at all meals. My only wish is a comfortable chair in the room. Spring Lake is a wonderful town we hope to visit again in the future.

Upgraded to avoid sharing a bathroom - room was barely adequate and the shower was 30" square. Hot and cold running water during the shower. Staff were polite. Breakfast was poor - nothing other than pancakes or fried food. Towels not replaced - just put back on the rack... thank goodness the weather was good....

My husband and I were quite disappointed with the accommodations at the Grand Victorian. For the price that they charge, the rooms were old and need to be updated. Anita, the manager was extremely helpful and tried to accomodate as best as she could. It is a shame that they get away with charges such exorbitant prices. Spring Lake deserves better.

My wife and I just spent a night at the Grand Victorian at Spring Lake in NJ. We stayed in a simple room with a Queen bed and bath with stall shower. The room itself was comfortable enough with relatively few frills. The Black Trumpet Restaurant is very nice. We ate dinner at the Black Trumpet and the food was very good, albeit a bit pricey. The included breakfast and beach tags were great. Overall, a good experience!

Staff was very good. Room was very nice. Awesome bed. 2nd floor private bath a must. Breakfast was a terrific bonus. No resort fees or parking fees. Exactly as advertised. No umbrellas available to rent on beach. No food or beverages allowed on beach.

Our room was very comfortable and the inn was well run. The staff was courteous and available. We appreciated the beach towels, tags and chairs. The location was beautiful and right at the boardwalk/ocean. The onsite restaurant was super so the breakfast was great. We would have liked to have breakfast before the 8am start time.

This place has everything - chairs, umbrellas, and even bikes. The innkeepers are very hospitable!

The room was small and the furniture ,old, but the place is a great value for an excellent location.

I have stayed at The Grand Victorian a few times and each time has been a lovely experience. The staff is warm and helpful. Everything is clean and bright. I want a low key visit with a lot of beach, fresh air, exercise and rest and that is always easy for me to accomplish at this B&B. I parked my car upon arrival and I didn't feel the need to get in it again except to leave! Really great! Maggie Wilson

My husband and I were married here 3 years ago and as an anniversary gift, my husband decided to surprise me and take me there for a weekend getaway. The place has changed ownership several times since we were there in 2008 and we were very disappointed in the accomodations. Our room had a non functioning air conditioner which would have been fine but we attempted to open the windows and they fell right out of the casing. There was garbage left from the guests before and our towels had some mysterious brown stain on them. There was a hole under the sink in our bathroom so that I could see the guest's feet next store to us when they stood at the sink. We waited 40 minutes for our complimentary breakfast only to be given the wrong food! It was an extreme disappointment and we will obviously chose another place when we wish to return to Spring Lake.

The room was a bit smaller than expected.. but overall clean and a nice bathroom.

The main feature of this place is how they seemingly strive to show active disdain for their guests -- once they have their money, that is. Utterly lacking in charm, this fine old Victorian home was gutted to install a restaurant on the porch and first floor. No charming sitting rooms, no lounging on the porch at any time to relax and watch the ocean. The breakfast is on a par with an average roadside diner. The rooms are not small, but tiny and very poorly appointed, and the staff appears to take lessons in eye rolls and deep sigh (especially when asked for an outside table or a second cup of coffee). If they offered me a 50% discount I would think I was overpaying. But, if you go to Spring Lake, the separately-run restaurant offers an exceptional dinner value -- and it is BYOB to boot. But, just to complete the them that the guests can't be catered too -- if your spouse decides just to go with an appetizer and nibble at your entree -- you'll be haughtily shown the menu warning -- everyone MUST buy an entree. There is a reason why this place has rooms available at the last minute. Walk a half-block to the beach and stay at a real B&B.

Our stay was nice, the staff was attentive and cooperative. Dinner was great meal, however breakfast was a bit of disappointment. The lone server was way over-worked and the attention to detail so evident at dinner was completely missing the next morning. This said, we would return as the overall experience was well above average.

The only thing I would not recommend is getting a room with a shared bathroom/ tub/ shower! It takes away the elegance of the place.

The Grand Victorian was the only B+B that would take a last minute reservation for one night during a busy NJ shore weekend. However what my girlfriend and I got was mediocrity. Everyone was sweet in Grand Victorian, but the rooms were small and not in great shape. Also the shared public bathroom and shower were not very clean either.

Hostess made a great effort to see that we were comfortable.

i enjoyed my stay at The Grand. Clean rooms, right on the beach, fair prices. I was disappointed about no full breakfast served on weekdays -- the website does not make that clear.

The place has gone down hill since Steven left. Nancy has no clue and is not very hospitable. Lacey is great. The place will not be the same. The old Gm made everyone feel like they were part of his family. That is not the case now with this Nancy lady running around. The owner's should know. This lady is hurting your business.

We rented all the rooms for my daughter's wedding guests.Steve and all the staff were wonderful. The food was OUTSTANDING, the rooms were charming and all our guests raved about the relaxing atmosphere.

My husband and I stumbled upon the Grand Victorian at Spring Lake on Labor Day. We were looking for a nice, affordable B&B at our first visit to the Jersey Shore after moving our daughter in to college in Delaware. We stopped in to the GV for lunch, then found there was availability for the two nights we wanted to spend at the shore. There was a fall special promotion as well as a lovely king room with great views of the ocean. New to the B&B experience, we were a bit dissappointed to not have the innkeeper, or other staff visible to us, for advice on directions or dining. Because it was after Labor Day, the restaurant was not open except for the one day we had lunch, and we found the breakfast less than desirable. Our shower drain did not work, so the small bathroom floor was somewhat flooded. A request for more towels was not recognized, no one even came near our room to replenish towels, water, or fix the drain. I couldn't find an ice machine, or even someone to ask for ice. Other than those rather small complaints, the experience was lovely...the location is wonderful

don't miss this charmer, with old world feel and modern mix, earth tones and great staff. the kitchen is wonderful you get a 10/10

Lovely, Victorian B&B. Very cheerful, bright, neat and clean. Very courteous staff, the ocean view is beautiful.

Ok stay

As a writer, I wanted a place that offered quiet with good service. Couldn't have asked for more perfection!

The pork chops melted in my mouth. It was moist, the demiglaze wsa fabulous. Even the spinach was terrific and I don't like spinach!!

The management and staff here was incredible! The service was excellent and everyone was so warm and friendly! Highly recommend.

We found the Grand Victoria Hotel to be a very nice place to stay. Everyone was nice, polite and courteous. Hoping to return soon!

MY BOYFRIEND AND I STAYED FOR A WEEKEND. FROM THE MOMENT WE ARRIVED WE WERE IMPRESSED. THE PLACE WAS LIT UP AND LOOKED SO ELEGANT. WE WERE GREETED BY RYAN WHO IS GREAT. HE TOOK US TO OUR ROOM AND TOLD US OUR TABLE WOULD BE READY FOR US TO GO AND HAVE DINNER AFTER WE SETTLED IN. WE HAD A 5 STAR DINNER WHICH WAS THE BEST. THE SERVICE AND THE STAFF WERE GREAT. THE ROOM WAS NICE AND COZY. WE DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE AND WE ALREADY DECIDED THAT WE WILL BE BACK FOR OUR ANNIVERSAY.

We had an excellent time - staff was FANTASTIC - could not have been more accomadating. Breakfast was very good. We had lunch two days - it was perfect. Very, very clean facility. We will be back. Beach is a accross the street - easy, easy access. Beautiful views.

I have stayed at many B&B's in the past but the Grand Victorian was truly the most magnificent of all. Steven, the inn keeper,is a delight. Ryan and Kristen were extremely helpful and treated us like family. The food is high in quality and prepared to perfection. I am recommending to everyone looking for a warm and inviting place to stay. I am just arrived at home and am booking my next stay.
