Ashling Cottage Bed & Breakfast

My husband and I have spent several weekends at the Ashling Cottage over the last few summers. We found it quite by accident, but what a great find it was. It is a wonderful Inn, in a perfect location. The beach is a short block away in one direction and the lake is an even shorter block away in the other direction. The rooms are lovely, clean, and quiet. There is a comfortable front porch perfect for sipping coffee in the morning, wine in the afternoon, or reading a book anytime. Large, beautiful trees keep it shady and comfortable. Linda and Peter are wonderful hosts and have a great list of restaurant recommendations! There is a lovely breakfast served in the atrium area each morning. As I said, we have enjoyed many weekends there and look forward to returning next summer!

This was our first time staying at a B&B and it was a wonderful first experience. Ashling Cottage is in an old Victorian home and we were encouraged to make ourselves at home in the common areas. The owner set out a late afternoon snack, and the breakfasts were delicious and plated attractively. Our room was nicely appointed and very clean with nice touches such as a comfy robe and a noise machine. It is located one block from the beach and one block from the lovely lake. The town itself is very picturesque and the homes are exquisitely maintained. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and meeting the other visitors. Very relaxing.

We had a wonderfully refreshing several-day stay at Ashling Cottage. The room (Romance #1) was beatufully appointed and the house is just beautiful. No need to bring anything for the beach because Ashling supplies it all (chairs, towels, umbrellas.) In addition, there are bicycles available to bike the boardwalk and the wonderful lake in town. Was treated to a glass of wine, made by the innkeeper!

We totally enjoyed our stay at the Ashling Cottage and would recommend the Ashling to anyone staying in Spring lake. Their attention to detail and service was excellent.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ashling and appreciated their great attention to detail--clean, cosy rooms, complimentary beach chairs, umbrellas, bikes and beach passes, port and cakes at tea time, delicious and wholesome breakfast. Our only complaint is that the mattress is too soft, but besides that, everything was very nice.

We went to Spring Lake in July looking for a relaxed and calm weekend. We could not have chosen a better place. Spring Lake is so beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. The beach and its boardwalk is perfect for long promenades. We stayed at the Ashley Cottage for two nights and found the place perfect. Cozy, clean, peaceful, it was like being at a friends’ home. We loved the porch where we had coffee in the morning and drinks before dinner. A nice way to start your day & evening. We will definitely go back. Katherine , her husband and their team were very attentive and friendly. They really look after every single detail and ensure you have a very nice, relaxing and unforgettable stay. Please be aware that some restaurants in Spring Lake do not hold an alcohol license so you might need to bring your own wine (which you might buy at a local liquor store). It is worth to check with Katherine before making a reservation.

We had a very nice visit at Ashling Cottage. It was relaxing - especially enjoyed the use of the bikes. Enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the world go by. Excellent breakfast as well.

Spring lakes finest , Ashling cottage has a personal cozy, warm and comfortable atmosphere. It is just the right size for a wonderful bed and breakfast experience. We will be returning again for vacation next year and even another nite this year.

The Ashling Cottage name implies exactly what it is a warm inviting and intimate cottage experience. Here life is leisurely to the extreme, relaxing to the utmost and enjoyabe to the highest. It is well priced and suited to those who want to relax and enjoy the shore and summer. My wife and I WILL stay here again

We made a very late decision to spend 3 nights at the Jersey Shore around the 4th of July and we feel very fortunate to have found accomodations at Ashling Cottage B&B in Spring Lake. The staff was very attentive to our needs and we enjoyed our stay very much, this being our first stay at a B&B anywhere. We walked to public tennis courts each morning as well as the 1 block to the beach. We also took advantage of the bicycles on hand at this property. The chef did a great job and the variety of breakfast combinations over the 3 days was appreciated. We would highly recommend Ashling Cottage. Larry & Mary Ann L. (Clay, NY)

We had a lovely room with an excellent bathroom. Hosts were friendly. afternoon tea was a lovely touch. Spring Lake is a gorgeous town, and this B&B is in the midst of beautiful homes and just a block from the beach. The coffee could definitely be improved!!

We were attending a formal dinner nearby and didn't want to risk driving home after one too many glasses of wine. Given that it was high summer season, the price for the room was expected, but a bit dear nonetheless. The room was well-appointed, but small, so small that it didn't have a TV and the WiFi reception was too poor to get anything on my laptop. Parking on the street was an issue, and as we were parking overnight, we had to move our car to a different location a few blocks away, where it seemed a bit remote and open to risk. Nothing happened though, but it was a "hike" late at night, when we really just wanted to go to bed. The breakfast was top-notch. A full meal, with numerous options and all of the cooked food was freshly made from local ingredients. Yum!

The room was very spacious. Abit disappointed that there was no TV available in individual rooms. The common room furniture was leather and very comfortable. The breakfasts were delightful with friendly staff.

My husband & I absolutely love Ashling Cottage! We come here once a year for our anniversary celebration. The rooms are clean & spacious. Linda & Peter (the innkeepers) are wonderful and always very accommodating. Breakfast in the morning is great on the sun porch area. Friendly staff & good service. Always a relaxing & romantic getaway!

This bed and breakfast is a gem, close to the ocean and one of the many lakes, walking distance to the quaint town. The rooms are bright and clean, some have small bathrooms and most rooms do not have TV, but all of that is minor due to the beautiful surroundings. Hosts were super friendly. Breakfast area is charming, the breakfast was good but unremarkable. Definitely will be back.

Ashling Cottage was a clean and quiet as they come. The breakfast was outstanding in the elegant sun porch. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and roomy. The odd part was the town. My wife and I are used to the bustling shore town. Spring Lake is not. The hotels have been replaced with retirement homes. There's not an arcade or pizza parlor for miles. There is nothing for kids to do here except go to the beach. But beware of the beach rules: No food. No drinks except water. No ball playing or frisbee throwing. ( We did see some folks snacking, but we were warned that fines are given.) Anyway - if you want a very quiet time at the B&B & Beach, you'll love it! If you want a Wildwood-type vacation, look elsewhere.

This was our second stay there. Our host went out of their way to be helpful!! The food was great and the accomendation wonderful!! We love this place and plan on coming back soon!!

We loved going to a seaside B&B and not having to worry about bringing towels, beach chairs, and an umbrella. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. The innkeepers see to your every need.

Just spent a wonderful weekend at Ashling Cottage! Our room was charming and the property immaculate. One huge plus - beach badges are included (most others do not include them). I can't rave enough about how helpful Peter & Linda were too -- great hosts.

When we originally went looking for a relaxed, civilized stay near the ocean, Ashling Cottage came up in our search. The pictures looked charming and ideal. Upon arrival, we were not disappointed. The warmth and friendlness of the owners, Linda and Peter always make our stay a welcome one. (We've been back three times.) Spring Lake is like a childhood memory and Ashling Cottage is like coming home. The setting and location are ideal and it's a tremendous place to relax and unwind. We will return again. Along the Eastern seaboard there are just a handful of B & B properties that we have found to be of this quality. Perfect hospitality and a family-run feel in every way. Highly recommended.

This is our second stay at Ashling Cottage. We can't think of a more relaxing and restful place to call "home" for a few days on the Jersey Shore. We will be back!

The atmosphere at Ashling cottage is relaxed, although the staff is attentive to cleanliness & preparedness. No detail is too small. Staff are appropriately present without hovering.

Ashling Cottage is a deeply comforting place in the time warp that is Spring Lake. We felt kindness from the minute we arrived with the attentive care of the owners and their patience with our many questions, having never been in town before. The breakfasts were fabulous, with fresh baked breads or pastry, each morning. The room was so charming, and we have found another honeymoon home.

This B & B provided everything it advertised,I would recomend it to others. The location was perfect, and the owners were accomodating.

Had a wonderful overnight at Ashling Cottage. Beautiful property in a great location (better than many of the other B&Bs we passed), really close to beach and lake. Great area for biking, walking the boardwalk and relaxing on the beach. Loved it!

Our room with its sunken bathroom was charming and relaxing. The Cottage was a short walk to the beach; the staff was responsive, welcoming and warm; the dining options in the area were wonderful and the staff recommendation proved worthwhile. Springlake was a great surprise. Many wondeful old homes and a nice downtown made for a really nice stay. Lots of nice restaurants and an attractive beach also. Go for it!

We had a lovely two night stay at Ashling's Cottage B & B in mid-June. The accommodations were very comfortable. We stayed in Sweet Escape which was on the first floor with a private entrance. This was very private while giving us access to the main areas of the house. The hosts were very pleasant and focused on our comfort during our stay. We recommend this B & B and will definitely stay here again when we visit Spring Lake.

Ashling Cottage is the perfect placed to stay! Location is perfect for whatever it is you want to do: go to the beach, enjoy the lake or stroll downtown. The staff is warm and friendly, and accomating for your every need. Definately the place to stay!

The innkeepers were extremely friendly and welcoming, and if you like dogs, Toby is the cutest and most friendly greeter of them all. The inn is beautiful and cozy, and the bed was very comfortable. There are plenty of bikes to choose from, and new beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas. The walk to the beach and restaurants is very convenient, and the area is beautiful. Excellent all around.

Every B&B offers their own special element and after staying at dozens, I'd say the bucolic location of this classic house is its selling point. It's a block from a lovely and well maintained beach, across the street from the main lake in town and a very laid-back place. Perhaps I'm a tough critic though the food was pretty marginal (its not like New England/New Hope breakfast sophistication) and the rotating college kids (so many!) were pretty green. The rooms are quaint and very clean and the support group provides whatever you need -- all in all, its a great spot to visit.

Stayed four days and we were very pleased and made to feel at home by both Peter and Linda, the owners. We would definitely return when in the area.

My husband and I escaped for a quick weekend getaway, and had a absolutely wonderful time. The pictures in the photo gallery don't do the rooms justice. Very romantic, breakfast was delicious, and the staff are extremely friendly. Linda and Peter are very helpful with tips on where to go, what to do, places to eat in the area. Will definately be making a trip back!

This is a beautiful and charming B&B, where no detail has been overlooked by the eager to please owners, Linda & Peter. The rooms are decorated very tastefully, but not overdone. Ours had even had its own fireplace (note to self:book again for the winter season). The location is superb- one block from the beach and two blocks from Spring Lake. The B&B provides you with bicycles, beach chairs, umbrellas and beach passes, for starters. When you return later in the afternoon, they have a tasty assortment of snacks and port wine. What a nice touch, indeed. In the morning, they make a full traditional sit down breakfast that was delicious. We were fortunate to sample their home made almond scones and freshly made blueberry pancakes. Delicious! The town is lovely, with no fast food joints or loud bars. For that, there are plenty of other towns on the Jersey Shore. All in all, a most romantic setting for a nearby getaway. Thanks for a terrific stay and for sure, we'll be back.

Spring Lake is a really nice and quiet shore town, and Ashling Cottage is in a perfect location to enjoy the beach and the town. Linda & Peter were went out of their way to make sure that our comfort was addressed both at the inn and in town, with access to free bicycles, beach chairs & umbrellas as well as free beach access badges. The only criticism we have is something that is generally typical of b&bs this size - the fairly limited choices at breakfast. Unlike many other b&bs we've frequented, there was little variety or inovation when it came to the hot dishes, and the servings were fairly modest in size. That being said, the total experience was still a positive one.

It's hard not to have a Great time if you spent it in Ashling Cottage. There are all components together here: exellent location, moderate victorian style interior, pretty clean and comfortable rooms and recreations, friendly and attentive Hosts-owners Linda & Peter. I have a magnificent time at Ashling with my wife. PEter and Linda were fantastic to deal with. They're new at Ashling and seeking to please. They're extremely classy and friendly without being pushy or nudgy. Great location and quiet surroundings. All around just a great experience. I'm going back.

From the moment you walk into the Ashling Cottage Peter & Linda make you feel like family. The room where a magnificent breakfast is freshly prepared is surrounded by windows. A view of the lake and a kiss from the sun are the perfect start to any day. We stayed the entire weekend and had the perfect honeymoon. Every room is unique and each has its own charm. We stayed in "Heavenly" which comes with a soaking tub, a writing desk, and plenty of light. It was so divine we'll be sure to stay again. Highly recommended - you won't regret it. ~~Mary & James~~
