'The jewel of them all has got to be the Mainstay,' according to the Washington Post. Built by a pair of wealth gamblers in 1872, this elegant, exclusive clubhouse is now one of the premier B and B inns in the country. Guests enjoy 12 antique filled rooms and suites, three parlors, spacious gardens and rocker filled verandahs. Breakfast and afternoon tea daily. Beautiful beaches, historic attractions, biking, birding, golf, and tennis.

Recently spent a long weekend at The Mainstay Inn which I've been longing to stay there. Although we have no complaints I will say I didn't feel any connection whatsoever to this B&B, the innkeeper or the other guests.

Beautiful Victorian antiques, gas chandelier, mirrors, etc... Owners and staff were exceptional gracious and knowledgeable of the history of Cape May.

This B&B was a great experience. When we arrived we received an upgraded room. Full breakfast included in the price of the room. Will definitely be back. Highly reccomend and the owner was so nice and friendly.

The Mainstay is an elegant, yet down-to-earth place to stay. It is conveniently located and magnificently furnished. Breakfasts and teas are delicious and the rooms are excellent. We look forward to staying at The Mainstay again.

Home and surroundings are unparalleled, but was disappointed with breakfast offerings over 2 mornings; simple omelet one morning and standard pancakes another. Porch setting just begs for visitors to relax and watch passersby. Very nice room with period antiques which makes it feel as if one is stepping back in time. Conversely, bathroom was modernized with all the amenities which is appreciated for those who do not wish the full Victorian-era experience.

I took my wife away for a weekend for her birthday and could not have been happier with our choice. Great location and great hospitality. The owners were genuinely wonderful people and everyone at the Inn treated us with the utmost respect.

We stayed in the cottage and had the place to ourselves. The next time we would like to stay in the main house. The antiques and furnishings are unbelievable. Diane made us feel at home. We will be back.

I love the Main Stay Inn! Every time I stay, I feel like I am stepping back into time. My room is always clean, and the service is excellent. I will continue to book my stays at the Main Stay for all future trips to Cape May. Furthermore, it is in close proximity to shops, fabulous restaurants, and the beach. For a true Victorian getaway, book your stay here! You will not be disappointed.

The Mainstay is a clean, beautifully maintained old Victorian. It is only 1-2 blocks to the beach( easy walk) , and close walking distance to town, shopping and restraunts. The staff I'd professional, friendly and very helpful. The little 'extras' they add really make a stay here extraordinary. ( ex: beach towels, beach chairs, off road parking, shower & changing area for late day check out, making dinner reservations at popular restraunts , etc.) Would definitely recommend & would return again myself:)
