Three lovely October days at Captain Mey's

    October 12, 2012

We've been to Cape May many times over the years and this was our first stay at Captain Mey's. It is a beautiful B&B in an outstanding location - 1 block to the Washington Mall shopping area, 2 blocks to the beach - literally in the center of it all. The large porch has enough tables and chairs to accomodate 4 or 5 couples for breakfast, relaxing, or just people watching. The foyer, parlor, and dining room on the first floor are nicely decorated and very inviting. We stayed in the Willem the Silent room on the 2nd floor. It was very comfortable but a bit small, particularly the bathroom and stall shower. Rita was an extremely gracious and helpful host. The breakfast is more than adequate but is a serve yourself continental style, not a sit-down, hot breakfast like some other B&Bs. This was fine as it doesn't tie you to a specific seating time and there was a large variety of offerings. All in all it was a great 3 days in celebration of our anniversary.

Wonderful B & B in the heart of Cape May.

    August 28, 2012

This wonderful B & B made a quick one-night getaway into a memorable experience. The owner, Rita, greeted us when we arrived and gave us a thorough tour of the first floor common rooms. She escorted us to our spotless room - The Captain Johan. Shower was a little tight, but everything else was great. They provide 24 hour coffee/tea and water. The beach was only a few blocks away and they even supplied beach towels and chairs. Restaurants and the Washington Street shopping mall were only a block away. Rita was a gracious hostess and always asked if everything was OK with our stay. We will definitely go again.

    Gracious!

    August 05, 2012

This B&B is a family run business. Frankly, for most of our stay we only saw the two lovely young daughters who ran the B&B with care and accountability. The week began with really humid weather but then it broke -- enough for us to simply sit out on the veranda, sip tea from lovely Victorian cups and enjoy the wafting breezes coming through these gorgeous, opulent, plants and flowers. We didn't want to move from that corner spot! When we come again, we will want to make sure to reserve another room that has its own bathroom. The Queen Beatrix was adorable but the bathroom was outside of the room. We had to enter the foyer a couple steps to another separate bathroom. Not terrible - but not great either.

    Good Choice

    July 17, 2012

We've stayed in Cape May many times and at Captain Mey's several times. It is a very good choice. The rooms are very nice. The staff is great. There is on-site parking which can be very important during the busy season. Most of all, they are extremely accommodating. It is rare that a place would allow you to use their premises after check-out. This place does. It stands as a testament to their graciousness, which is very important at a Bed and Breakfast. You also cannot beat the location. It is right at the heart of town. Their prices are also reasonable. I would highly recommend this and plan to stay here whenever I come to Cape May.

    Very nice B&B.

    July 02, 2012

Spent a couple nights last weekend at Capt Mey's. The place was clean, charming, and a good value. Rita was more than welcoming and it felt very much like spending a weekend at a family shore house. Very close to beach, the nicest porch on the block, and just a minute away from the main shopping square. Also, I found it very helpful that bath towels, blow dryers, beach towels, and (nice!) beach chairs are all provided. We will be returning to this B&B and I will happily recommend it to friends.

    A Definite Keeper

    June 04, 2012

Only stayed 1 night but the staff were just wonderful. We had a private but unconnected bathroom with a standing shower. Everything you would expect from aa B&B. The price was a litle less than surrounding B&B's which was great. All in all the value was very good as was the service. Sitting on the porch in the evening with a couple cocktails. Nice. If I had to find something negative I'd have to dig and say the narrow drive way. See it was all good.
