Having just returned from our third family vacation at Brookhirst B&B in as many years, I can honestly say that this location is the very next best thing to owning your own vacation property in the White Mountain region. Innkeepers George and Victoria Murphy are the very essence of small-town warmth and charm who make your stay with them feel as if you are a part of their family. My wife, children (ranging from grade school through college-aged), my siblings, and my mother all consider this place to be a home-away-from-home in New Hampshire, and I have reccomended Brookhirst to all of my friends and co-workers. The classic beauty of the property, from the ecclectic furnishings that fill every corner of the 200-year-old farm house to the unbelievable panoramic views of the White Mountains, to the wildlife (turkeys, deer, bears, moose) that visit the thirty-acre field that makes the back lawn (stocked trout pond and tinkling brook included)...the list of eye candy goes on, but the real clincher is the graciousness of the hosts. They manage to be mostly out of sight yet instantly ready to help you with your every need above and beyond any other inn or hotel I have ever experienced. The food is excellent or they will accomodate your making your own grub for a cook-out. Located just 20 minutes from the shopping mecca of North Conway without the noise, traffic, and tourist-trap attitude, Brookhirst offers a quiet, private country getaway with spectacular scenery, modern facilities, excellent cellular access, and loads of peace and quiet... you and your party are the only guests on the property for as long as you are there. I promise you that you will find incredible relaxation here within hours of your arrival and will want to stay far past your allotted time. You will not find more comfortable quarters, a better deal or more accomodating hosts anywhere!

Privacy -- You and your party are the only guests.

Unlike almost any other hotel/motel I've stayed at, the beds in all three rooms are really, really comfortable and very clean. I like the room with the canopy bed the best, even without a window view, because the room is the experience, like something out of the 1800s. Our cell phone reception in the house and yard were excellent, but there is no internet service in the town (nearby Conway library has computer terminals with free internet access). There are books everywhere you look, and a TV with a DVD player in the main den. (Right next to the full fireplace). The den/dining room also has paintings, photos, natural history artifacts, and antiques. Importantly for me, the bathroom facilities are first rate, and private for the downstairs bedroom. (Upstairs the bathroom is shared by two rooms). Note: The stairs leading to the second floor are very steep, so when my elderly mother visits, she stays downstairs only. Brookhirst Farm has great atmosphere any season -- and incredible starlit nights! We're returning in October with friends from Southern California to show them a real New England farmhouse and the NH fall colors. We found this to be a great platform to investigate the White Mountains area from, while on some trips we just mostly stay around the house/yard and rarely leave. TIP I: Ask about Foss Mountain, four miles away -- you drive 90% of the way up then walk the final 10 minutes for a very nice panaramic vista. TIP II: Ask about the two local by-pass roads to skirt Rte 16 traffic. We manage to get around Conway and North Conway almost traffic free by following these simple, brand new roads. BEST FEATURE BESIDES THE VIEW: Since they only book one party at a time, you have your own seperate 'house' to yourself (the red building on the right side in the photo with the two red dormers attached), so privacy is not a problem. Bring your cameras!

A real romantic place to bring that special someone

This is the perfect place to bring that special someone for a very romantic, old fashion getaway weekend. All the beds are extremely comfortable and pefect for reading or lounging around in. The breakfast is generous and tastes very good -- not muffins on a tray by the door, but a full farm breakfast. George and Victoria Murphy, the couple who own Brookhirst, stay out of your way, yet are available when needed. George is very funny, and a great cook! The house is from 1805, but has every modern convience, including super nice showers and updated bathroom facilities. The walls in the common areas are lined with natural history artifacts, paintings, books, & photos you'll never tire of exploring. The canopy bed in the downstairs room has its own private bath, while the big room upstairs has a huge picture window giving a breathtaking panoramic view of the presidential mountain range. The smaller bedroom upstairs is perfect for a child or someone who wants a cozy full bed with calming running water outside their window. No, I am not affiliated with the owners -- just a very, very satisfied guest who visits three to four times a year. I have steered family members to stay here, and they love it just as much as I do. You cannot beat this place -- the yard is a 30 acre field with fishing pond surrounded by woods, and occassioned by deer in the morning. Peace and quiet, surrounded by books, flowers, trees, and even a running brook! I never tire of it in all seasons!

Victoria and Geroge were so kind and gracious. The best B&B hosts we've ever encountered. Nice place, great history, gorgeous views, and at the right price! We really enjoyed our stay.
