This charming 1780s' farmhouse with public yr-round stables is on 70 scenic acres of forest and pastures along the Saco River. This award-winning inn offers a blend of authentic New England charm and hospitality with luxury. Surrounded by horses, gardens and mountains this provides an amazing natural-retreat like setting and has only ten rooms- some with jacuzzi and fireplaces. Two-room family suites are also available. All rooms have private baths, king or queen beds, & A/C, free Wi-Fi. This is a supurb setting for an elopement and a carriage ride. The stables offers horseback riding year round, romantic Victorian carriage rides as well as group wagon rides spring snowfall(very nice in the fall) & winter sleigh rides.Inn guests enjoy special stables rates.       Deposits are refundable in full, minus a $25 service charge per room, if the reservation is cancelled prior to two weeks of the arrival date. During Fall Foliage: Sept. 20- Oct. 25, cancellations must be made three weeks prior to the arrival date.

They enjoy what nature has to offer on their property and in the area.

A land grant from King George III of England, "The Farm by the River" has been in one family for seven generations-since 1771. Stroll the estate and you might see a moose, deer or fox, a variety of birds.  In the Fall guests enjoy 16 acres of mature Maple sugar forest on the estate via a Victorian carriage ride.The stables is open year round to inn guests and the general public also.The Farm by the River Bed and Breakfast is a place for all seasons. Summer-start your day with a delicious patio breakfast overlooking the gardens with pond; the resident horses frolicing in the pasture; and the mountains beyond. Later, swim or fly fish from the Saco River from our sandy beach; or go horseback riding. Autumn- experience a kaleioscope of crimson colors as you walk or perhaps take a horse-drawn wagon ride through the pasture and forest to our 11 acre maple sugar stands.     The "Brides room". Enjoy this deluxe room with fireplace and king bed. It can either be used as a room with private bath for two or as part of a two-family room suite. It has an adjoining bedroom with queen and single bed, making it available for two couples or a family or four or five.Why not take a private family sleigh ride for four or five-In the summer trek out on orseback or take a carriage ride for the whole family. What a great family getawayThe Captain's Room- A cozy corner room with views out to the north pasture and cathedral Ledge-famous for rock climbing. It has a queen with private bath and is decorated in a classic B and B look with hardwood floors, oriental and hook rugs. Very bright and cheery! There are a variety of rooms to select from depending on the occasion. View the other rooms for a sample.A full breakfast is included with your stay and you can also take advantage of the horse stables right outside our door on our private acreage.
    For a truely romantic experience-take your loved one on a horse-drawn Victorian carriage ride on our scenic 70 acres along the Saco river. This might be just the way you have been looking for to ask that special someone to marry you. Or perhaps a carraige ride might be part of your elopement plans. A Justice of the Peace is available on site to perfom the ceremony in our open fields surrounded by mountains. Or for a larger wedding, the father, bride, and brides maids arrive in the carriage to the ceremony, the marriage is performed, and the bride and groom leave in the carriage to tour the property and have a few minutes alone before returning to their guests and the reception.

Experience a crimson kalidescope of colors in the Fall and stroll through 11 acres (of the 70 acres) of mature maple sugar stands situated along the Saco River.
