We happened upon the Brass Heart Inn on a Saturday afternoon in late July ( peak of the White Mountains tourist season). The grounds in front of the house were full of wedding party. Undaunted, I approached the house and was promptly greeted by Sheena (one of the owners) who with a big smile informed me that a room was available and she would be with me right after the wedding ( ten minutes away!) Sure enough, after the wedding, Sheena promptly checked us in, showed us to the room, invited us for dinner and ensured we had a cool refreshing beverage while sitting on the front porch. Perfect!! The Brass Heart Inn is a country inn in the best tradition. Situated on 20 or so acres, it is surrounded by woods/fields, making it extremely quiet. The house is simply furnished but very comfortable. Breakfast is standard fare for B&B's, but of very high quality and sufficient quantity. Dinner is a true delight. The menu offers filet mignon, roast pork, rack of lamb and other like items. Prices are very reasonable ( $30.00 for filet mignon) and the wine selection is good for a small country inn. No doubt there are other B&B's that are more sumptous, more expensive, more of everything, but the Brass Heart is hard to beat for it's quiet simplicity and charm. If quietude and re-creation are what you seek, then the Brass Heart Inn will fill the bill. Strongly recommended.

I did not select the Inn, it was selected for me as part of a wedding party package. I was not prepared for a shared bathroom - not informed ahead of time. Bedding was tired and not a cushy but firm B & B bed - just firm. No options for provided breakfast - not compatible with dietary needs. Wedding dinner was very disappointing - "prime Rib" was overdone and like shoe leather and luke warm. Servers were rude. Tables and chairs removed while belongings and party still on-going. Nice setting for a wedding but service did not equal the price I'm sure the bride and groom paid for the facility/wedding dinner. Perhaps other rooms were more satisfactory.

I gotta tell you. I am contacted frequently from Wedding Parties to see if they can host their event at my Estate on Lake Winnepesaukee and I always recommend them to check out The Brass Heart Inn. My wife and I were the fortunate high bidders on their generous donation of a nights stay during the Ossipee Cornerstone Christian Academy's Annual Benefit Auction. We were SO impressed with this location. My wife got tears in her eyes when we returned from our evening out and found that Don had place a canister of Champaign in our room, turned down the bed, turned up the heat, turned down the lights, and placed a chocolate on the pillow. This is indicative of Don's skill and pleasure as a host. This type of care was evident in every encounter during our brief stay. The facilities for a wedding look and feel spectacular if one wants a quintessential New England experience for their wedding day. I am now planning on trying to talk my two young daugters into having their weddings there if they want when the time comes. Thank you Don for your excellent care and generosity. Dave & Wendy

I rarely right reviews, but I am compelled to do so for the Brass Heart Inn. My wife and I stayed for 3 nights- Mon. 6/30-Thurs. 7/3. We stayed in the Veery Cottage, which was a 2 room cottage with a front porch. Don Harte was a fantastic host! He delivered breakfast to our porch 2 days, and 1 day we went to the formal restaurant for breakfast. There was no breakfast menu- DJ the chef just makes something, and each breakfast was great! The Pub opens for Wed.- Sat., and we had dinner in the formal restaurant on Wed. DJ made us a fantastic dinner on Wed., and the food was a great value. Zagat's should review this restaurant. I wish we were closer to New Hampshire- I would dine there FREQUENTLY! Don made some suggestions for dining out on Mon. and Tues., and he hit the mark each time. We also went to area businesses which he thought we would enjoy. I am not one for returning to the same place all of the time, but we will return. This was to celebrate our 20th anniversary, and Don even had a bottle of bubbly to great us when we checked into our room! We will come back for future anniversaries and special occasions. Before we left, we looked at other rooms. Each room was beautifully decorated, but we really liked the cottage. We can't wait to return!
