I wanted to take my boyfriend to Virginia City for his birthday but didn't want to feel rushed so we decided to stay in town for a night and chanced upon the Cobb Mansion website. Even though we were only there for one night we can't stop raving about this place. The mansion is immaculate and beautifully restored for an excellent and historic ambiance that fits a trip to this comstock city perfectly. The proprietor was more than friendly and helpful and helped us find interesting and "off the beaten" path things to do while there (like suggesting live music at the Red Dog Saloon). We stayed in the Julia Bulette room and we absolutely loved how private the room was and we certainly could have (and would have but for work schedules) stayed a few more days. We will definitely be recommending and returning to the Cobb Mansion soon.

We were traveling to Lake Tahoe for a business meeting and decided to come a few days early to see some sights in the Reno/Lake Tahoe area. An internet search of the surrounding area led us to the old mining town of Virginia City. Since there were no major hotels in the area that we normally frequent, we decided to go with a local B&B. Further investigation of previous guest reviews led us to the Cobb Mansion. Man, was everyone right. What a fabulous place. We stayed in the Julia Bulette room. Everything about the room was great--the bed, bathroom, amenities, cleanliness, etc. Breakfast was excellent down to the homemade German and cinnamon rolls. The best part was the owners Paul and Jeff. What excellent hosts they were. They took a keen interest in our visit to their city and they wanted us to get the full experience. Our first evening, Paul and Jeff gave us a tour of their B&B that holds so many relics of local history. Paul has such a wealth of knowledge about this city and its history. Our first morning, we received the tour of the city in Paul's 1942 "woodie" convertible. He made stops at all the major buildings/attractions sharing insights and stories. He also made recommendations for things we should see and do. Paul and Jeff make you feel like old friends coming for a visit. They are excellent at managing their B&B and Virginia City is lucky to have them here because they are such great ambassadors for it. PS--we really enjoyed their dogs Mancha and Tasha.

We stayed at the Cobb Mansion on June 12 while on our way to Lake Tahoe. Paul and Jeff were very welcoming and we felt like old friends. Their 2 dogs, Mancha and Tasha, were just the sweetest and equally welcoming. The mansion itself was fabulous and they have done an amazing job with the renovations and decor. There are many period antiques and some are original to the Cobb family. Paul's 5:00 reception not only included beer and wine, but also a guacamole making demonstration. Then we had a tour of the mansion including its history along with that of Virginia City. Breakfast the next morning was simply fabulous. It consisted of Eggs Florentine, fresh fruit and homemade rolls and pastries all served to us on china and sterling. The ambience made us feel like special guests of the Cobb family back in the late 1800s. The extra treat was Paul's tour of Virginia City while riding in his 1948 Chrysler Woodie convertible. Jeff and Paul went above and beyond in welcoming us and making our stay enjoyable. If we're ever in Virginia City again this is definitely where we'll stay.

I visited Cobb mansion on my way to a conference near Lake Tahoe. My stay in the Beebe Clegg room was very enjoyable, it has a very comfortable bed, zoned cooling for your comfort, and the whole house was fully refurbished while being true to its architectural heritage. Jeff and Paul have extensively collected the house furniture to showcase the history of Virginia City in its heyday. Jeff was a great host during my stay (Paul was away on family business), the pre supper get together, an overview of the houses history, was very enjoyable, as was the homemade guacamole dip and alcoholic beverages. The breakfast was delicious and consisting of fresh homemade cinnamon buns, fresh fruit, yogurt, and a delicious ham,/cheese/egg/muffin creation. I highly recommend staying at the Cobb Mansion bed and breakfast!

We're back from our mini vacation at Virginia City, NV ... And we had a great time! The best part of our trip was the Cobb Mansion B&B (www.cobbmansion.com). It was everything the reviews said it was! A gorgeous mansion with fantastic hosts. We were introduced to several local people who came by the Cobb, and we had a very interesting talk with the man who rebuilt the mansion. We also enjoyed the 5:00 pm cocktail hours with the owners and other guests. The breakfasts and home-made guacamole were delicious. We are hoping to make the trip again next year, and we definitely won't stay anywhere else but the Harris Suite at the Cobb Mansion.

My husband and I stayed here May 12, 13 & 14, 2012. The house is exquisite! All of the rooms were beautiful. We stayed in the Harris Suite which is just gorgeous! Paul and Jeff have remodeled and redecorated the entire house and made it not just beautiful but "homey" at the same time. We could not have asked for better hosts than Paul and Jeff. They were extremely intelligent and knowledgable as well as warm and funny. Cobb Mansion feels like a home away from home. Staying here is a "must" for anyone wanting to spend time in the area! We will most certainly be back!

My friend and I stayed May 1&2, 2012 at the Cobb Mansion. It was my second visit there, because the first time I stayed, I only could be there one night, and I have wanted to go back ever since. This is the best B&B I have ever found. It is spotless, beautifully restored & furnished, but what really makes it special is the hospitality of Paul & Jeff. Paul is a font of historical information about the house and the area, and delights in sharing as much of it as you have time to listen to. It's routine to have wine or beer and handmade guacamole at 5pm, and in the morning, get a tour of the town in one of their beautiful vintage automobiles, a great overview of the things to see and do there. And the breakfasts are sumptuous - homemade cinnamon rolls and an Eggs Benedict (if you should be so lucky) to die for. Luscious! I felt as though I was leaving old friends at the end of my stay.

Our stay in Virginia City was delightful, but the highlight was the Cobb Mansion. There is so much history in this town and Paul and Jeff, the owners, appreciate it and thrive on it. They were wonderful hosts and we enjoyed ourselves enormously. It was a walk back in time made comfortable and interesting at this great B&B!

Paul and Jeff are the most gracious, knowledgeable, and friendliest of hosts. Breakfasts are fabulous, and everything is homemade. Rooms are well appointed and each has its own history. There is a five o'clock happy hour with beer and wine. Take a tour of VC in a 1929 Caddy or a Woody convertible ala Paul. Best of all, you will be treated like royalty as they will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Highly recommended.

With rich linens, priceless antiques, sumptuous food and luxurious table settings, Cobb Mansion is a destination unto itself. Add Virginia City's mother lode of history and you have an unbeatable tradition.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Cobb Mansion. We often stay at B&B's when we go for a weekend getaway. This B&B was by far the best that we have ever been too. The house is absolutely gorgeous and very well decorated, restored and CLEAN. From the moment you enter the house, Paul and Jeff treat you as special guests. They are very gracious hosts and make you feel at home. The service is above and beyond what I had ever expected. The breakfast was delicious and it was so nice to have them join you in the meal and conversation. The evening wine hour was also great and included learning how to make homemade guacamole! Then to top it off, Paul not only gave us a tour of the house but of the town as well with recommendations of where to go and what to do during our stay. We had such a fantastic time that we are already talking about going back next year! If you are looking for a fantastic place to stay, this is definately the one!!!

We have stayed two years and we are counting down the days until July when we get to visit again! We cannot say enough about our visits to this establishment! From the historical feel, the amazing hospitality, the wonderful food, the great company...from the minute we enter until we sadly pack our bags we are in awe. We hope that everyone gets a chance to visit and soak it all in! Beautiful house and room, great breakfast, great location, the the hosts go way above and beyond what we have ever experienced before and we've stayed at many B & Bs. The room and breakfast are a reasonable deal for the price, and when you add in the personal attention from the hosts it is an amazing value. The hosts are happy to provide a personal historical tour of Virginia City, and will do whatever else they can to help you enjoy your stay in their town as well as in their house.

Last summer my wife and I stayed at the Cobb Mansion while we were on our vacation. During our travels (we were gone a month) we stayed in 4 other bed and breakfast establishments, and without a doubt, the Cobb Mansion was by far the best in every way. We stayed in the Harris Suite which is beautiful, as is the rest of the house. The furnishings in the home are a reflection of the owners travels throughout the world. The stories of their travels are worth the price of the stay alone. And speaking of the owners. Paul and Jeff are two of the greatest gentlemen you will ever have the chance to meet. Upon entering the home, you are made to feel like they have known you their entire life. Mere words cannot really describe it. While the home is beautiful, it’s the warmth of the owners that truly make it a special stay. Breakfast? Wow. Not only is the food excellent, but Paul and Jeff join you at the table for the meal. With their outgoing personalities they engage everyone in conversation so once again you feel right at home and not that you are at a table with a bunch of strangers. We stayed at the Cobb Mansion for our wedding night and Paul and Jeff are the best hosts ever. Paul decorated his Woody convertible and even drove us from our wedding to our reception in true Virginia City fashion. Myself and two friends visited Virginia City and made Reservations for the Cobb Mansion Via Email Jeff & Paul were Amazing since we were the only three People Staying for that evening they let us have our choice of any room drove us to dinner in one of there amazing cars had wonderful stories to tell us about the Mansion. Paul & Jeff made sure that we received everything we need I have stayed at 4 star hotels and have never felt at ease as I was at the cob Mansion.. of I could give Paul & Jeff 100 stars I would but I guess I settle for 5

We visited Cobb Mansion last year. It was our first B&B experience. Our hosts and the house were amazing. We decided to take my 85 year old parents to Cobb to celebrate their 64th anniversary. They loved it! The hosts were exceptional in caring for my parents. They loved talking history and being taken on a tour of U.C. in a woody! We love Cobb Mansion and Paul and Jeff. We will be back with friends.

I have stayed at the Cobb Mansion three times in the last year. I cannot begin to tell you how awesome each visit has been. The rooms are beautiful and well worth their price. The atmosphere cannot be duplicated and the hosts, Paul and Jeff, go above and beyond to make you feel at home. I would encourage anyone looking for a romantic get-away or just some time to yourself to visit the Cobb Mansion. This B&B alone makes the visit to Virginia City worth it!

So many reviews to read. I will not waste anyone's time with more of the same. I am just going to testify that NOTHING has been exaggerated.If you have the time, read them all. Demand the cinnamon rolls for breakfast. To die for. Paul and Jeff what can anyone say about them that would not seem like over sell. I have stayed in many B&B's. My wife and I recently experienced the Cobb in all it's grandeur. Paul and Jeff are the ultimate hosts and inn keepers. Their knowledge and hospitality enhanced their BEAUTIFUL B&B. The Harris suite was extraordinary. The history of the mansion and it's furnishings is amazing, a story in every piece (ask about the clock that never needs winding, or the key to the mine shaft). We were attending a murder mystery in town that had a 1920's theme. Paul even delivered us in grand style in his 1929 Caddilac, moreover, he truly enjoyed doing this for us. The breakfast Paul presented was beyond our expectations. The menu consisted of fresh fruit,a beautiful Quiche, Cheese blintzes topped with home picked peaches, juice and the greatest coffee on earth! Innkeepers beware the bar has been raised !!! I stayed at the Cobb Mansion two different times in July '09. Both times the food was great and the hospitality shown to me by Paul and Jeff made me feel that the mansion was like home. The first time visit I went solo. I met friendly local people, went out to a great Mexican resteraunt on main street, and conversed with the owners about the local history of Virginia City. I laughed all night listening to stories and adventures from my new friends. That first stay made me feel so happy that I took my 14 year old son for another overnight stay. When we pulled up to the house my son got out and said "WOW" we are staying here! He had a great time at night texting me from his room and sending voice mails of ghostly sounds and voices (the mansion is not haunted or the least bit scary). Those antics made everyone laugh the next morning during our tasty breakfast of eggs florentine, fresh fruit, warm baked muffin and fresh juice and coffee to order. My son was amazed by the beauty and artistic value in this great B&B. We definately will stay again at the Cobb Mansion and visit historic Viginia City.

Next week will be the 3rd time this summer we've been back to Virginia City and the "Cobb". This B&B in Virginia City NV was one of the highlights of my month-long cross country trip. It is GORGEOUS, Paul & Jeff are the most gracious hosts on the planet, and I can't wait to go back when I have more time so I can see and do all the things they told me about in Virginia City. The accommodations are spotless, comfortable, and beautiful. The food is wonderful too, but it's really the personalities of Paul & Jeff that put the icing on the cake - what nice men! The mansion was beautiful. The rooms were comfy and clean. The breakfasts were gourmet. The hosts were very helpful with planning our stay.

I went with a friend on a trip to Virginia City. He didn't tell me where we were staying or any of the pleasant details. When we arrived at 11:00 o'clock at night, Paul so graciously waited up for us... I was in awe at the beautiful home. I will be coming back soon and staying in the Cobb mansion- I am taking my Mother by the way, this bed & breakfast is the only one I would want to take her to. Exquisite!

Our stay at the Cobb Mansion was the highpoint of an extended trip through the West. Paul and Jeff were superb hosts. Yes, the breakfast and the evening social hour were highlights (excellent food and wonderful conversation), but more importantly both my wife and I felt totally at home. Our wide-ranging conversations with Paul and Jeff about local history, travel, collecting, and a host of other topics made the experience transcend the stated amenities of a bed and breakfast. Knowing of my interest in the region's history Paul and Jeff arranged introductions to others who shared that interest and even got all of us together at a wonderful dinner party at the mansion. I had no idea this was going to be the wonderful experience that it was. The owners were gracious hosts, the breakfast was off-the-charts delicious and it was served on multiple layers of china and crystal glasses, candles were lit and the ambiance was luxurious and very interesting for those with an interest in antiques and history. I am sure this place is very hard to get into but if you can I definitely recommend it. You will not forget it!

My husband and I stayed at the Cobb Mansion to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. We've been staying at B&B's each year on our anniversary and this is by far our favorite one! Paul and Jeff are so welcoming and make you feel "part of the family" right away! We stayed in the "Julia Bulette" room and thought it was very nice! They are full of knowledge on the town's history and gave us a first class tour in their classic car! (Which was better than any tour you could have purchased down in town!). My husband and I really enjoyed the "Beer and Wine Hour" each evening. It gave us a chance to chat with the other guests and Paul and Jeff! We really enjoyed that time getting to know everyone. I can't say enough great things about Cobb Mansion, and the inn-keepers. I have already recommended this B&B to family and friends and we know where we'll stay next time we're in Virginia City! An outstanding B&B to spend the weekend or special day. The accomodations are excellent as is the service. We felt very welcomed and thoroughly at ease as we enjoyed the house. We felt right at home; Paul and Jeff have that effect. This was by far the most hospitable B&B experience we have ever had. Happy hour with a cooking demonstration, gourmet breakfast and a guided tour of Virginia City in a 1948 convertible helped to make this an outstanding weekend. Wow!! What a great time we had. The Cobb Mansion is beautiful. It was like taking a walk back in time. Jeff and Paul are very gracious hosts. They are very knowledgeable about the city and it's history. They are very interested and engaging. Always making you feel like family. The city has it's own charm. My husband & I spent 3 days at the Cobb Mansion. The food was fantastic. The owners were fantastic. Everyone staying while we were there (another couple and a single) was treated as family! Paul and Jeff have restored a historic mansion, sparing no detail, and filling it with period antiques. The mansion is located just one short block away from the center of main street, a 2 or 3 minute walk. It is very private, super clean, extremely well decorated and in wonderfull functional shape, with brand new bathrooms thruout. At least a 4 star experiance, even for the most jaded traveler. The host's, Jeff and Paul, go way over the top to make you feel right at home. They are gourmet cooks, and have an extensive wine collection, if you ask nicely they will probably have you sample their Guacamole at cocktail hour, and they are glad to store your wine brought from home or bought in Reno on the way in, so you can have your favorite to drink there. All in all, a wonderfull surprise, and highly reccomended. PS: They know just about everybody, and everthing about town, just ask any question, they are most willing to help !

The proprietors are very knowledgeable and so hospitable. The best guacamole I've ever tasted, wonderful homemade breakfasts in a quaint mansion furnished with beautiful antiques. They went way beyond to make our stay memorable, or maybe it's because they liked us, we really like them!

A friend and I chose the Cobb Mansion for a "girl's getaway". Even though we live in Reno, visiting Virginia City is truly a mini-vacation for us. Paul and Jeff are amazing! We could not have asked for more gracious hosts. The property is also amazing - beautifully restored and yet comfortable and functionable. We were also lucky enough to meet several of their friends and enjoy a lovely evening. I am a late sleeper but was happy I got up for breakfast. Paul's cinnamon rolls are to die for. I thought that, the fresh fruit, amazing coffee and fresh juice were it and then out came the Eggs Benedict. I am looking forward to planning another girl's weekend! I travel for a living and the bed at the Cobb Mansion was one of the most comfortable I've slept in. Please if you are visiting Virginia City and want a truly memorable experience, stay at the Cobb Mansion - you won't be sorry! My wife and I were fortunate enough to happen upon this jewel in Virginia City for our 13th anniversary. The house is a lovingly restored mansion from 1875, and the rooms are immaculate. Paul and Jeff accommodated not only our every need, but whim as well. If you're lucky, you'll get to meet some of their fabulous friends, some of whom are pillars of the VC community, and others who are just some VERY nice folks. We won't forget the tour about town in the 1929 Cadillac after breakfast-truly a treat. There won't be a thing you don't know about the town after Paul's expert knowledge is imparted. There won't be anybody you don't know as well! The cuisine is to die for, from the homemade guacamole to the blueberry pancakes. Be careful of the homemade cinnamon rolls-you won't look at those the same again! YUM! If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind experience hosted by two wonderful gents who have made the B&B stay into a fine, high art, this is for you. We truly feel that we have made some very good friends at the Cobb Mansion.

Recently, I visited historical Virginia City, Nevada, staying overnight at the Cobb Mansion B&B. A once neglected relic, Cobb has been restored to its 1800s grandeur. If a house can feel pride, this one must be near to bursting in its new glory. It is furnished in wonderful antiques and boasts both the muted and sometimes lavish colors of the era. There are six rooms available, one a suite with an exciting view of the town. Rooms are named for former residents of the famed area. I occupied the Julia Bulette room, named for Virginia City's one-time most renowned prostitute. She was of the "heart-of-gold" category, genuinely loved by many. When she was foully murdered, it is said 1,000 firemen attended her funeral. Julia's room at Cobb is appropriately decorated in her favorite color, crimson. It is on the first floor of the three-story house, especially appreciated by me since I sometimes use a cane and find stairs a challenge. All rooms are VERY reasonably priced. Breakfast was elaborate, including Eggs Florentine and rolls homemade that morning, all prepared and served by the two charming owners, Paul Yandre and Jeff Teague. After breakfast, I toured Virginia City, heart of the famed Comstock Silver Lode. I walked the main street that is little changed since Mark Twain trod the boardwalk. There are the same quaint saloons and charming shops, Piper's Opera House where Jenny Lind once sang, the remnants of "Chinatown," a seven-sectioned cemetery, a hospital purported by some to be haunted, and mines to be toured--among other attractions. Too many fascinations for a person to cover in one day, but I managed several and then wended my way back "home" to luxuriate in Cobb's enchanting parlor. Here I realized that both outside and inside Cobb Mansion in Virginia City, I felt wrapped in history.

Our stay at the Cobb Mansion was superb! We were in Virginia City to visit family and had wonderful accomodations there. The Mansion is beautifully restored and Jeff and Paul are very welcoming hosts. Breakfasts were absolutely delicious with fresh fruits, homemade breads and muffins, and their specialty - Eggs Florentine. There are many things to see and do in Virginia City and the Cobb Mansion is within walking distance of most of the attractions. Jeff and Paul gave many great suggestions for places to see in town as they are very knowledgeable about the town's history. They are also familiar with the surrounding areas and gave us tips on some great hiking trails. We had a great vacation and will definitely stay at the Cobb Mansion on our return visits to Virginia City.

After staying at the Cobb Mansion, your better half will undoubtedly present you with a list of upgrades to be done at your own residence, prompted by your stay in this Victorian beauty. The craftmanship in this grand restoration project is second to none, and Paul and Jeff will make sure that you feel as though you are the most important element in the entire experience. Like old, and wild west history? Just ask. Paul and Jeff are both educators and some of the best advocates of the Virginia City experience.

Traveling from Southern California to Virginia City has for years been one of my favorite automobile trips, never failing to offer new surprises in a town long famous not only for the silver and gold mines of the Comstock Lode, begetting more than $400 million in precious metals within a few square miles, much of it from beneath the city as it stands today. This year, July 2008, my grown daughter and I, along with another friend, stayed at the Cobb Mansion, originally built in 1876, restored in 2007 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. True to the town's character, it epitomized the laid back, independent but sophisticated nature of the town, once home to silver barons who built several mansions, still standing and in use today. It is also home to the noted 1800s prostitute, Juliette Bulette, who has been honored with her own room at the Cobb. My friend stayed in Julia's elegant room downstairs, while my daughter and I shared the second floor Harris Suite with a view overlooking the city. Most notable about the B&B, though are the innkeepers Paul Yandre and Jeff Teague citizens of the town for more than 20 years. It's not enough that both are gourmet cooks, providing an unforgettable breakfast of Eggs Florentine, homemade bread and muffins, and an array of fresh fruits, but they know more about the city's history and sites to see than anyone in town. A tour by Yandre of the restored three-story mansion and its furnishing offered another bonus. Although the B&B is furnished in period Victorian antiques, from the cabinets in each room's private bathroom to the sumptuous beds, it also offers WiFi, central heat and AC, and library to piano. All that, plus the wealth of things to do in Virginia City from mine tours (some beneath the city) to antique shopping and gambling in old-style casinos.
