    Lovely and cheap BnB

    May 24, 2012

Even though we just stayed for one night, we had a wonderful time in Amsterdam. The BnB is located directly in front of a little "gracht" and even has a garden in the rear. Jan welcomed us friendly and flexible with regards on the check in/out times. Nice quality rooms, comfotrable beds and clean, nice bathrooms/showers. The kitchen was at our disposal and did not dissapoint us. We were able to use the garage and so to save a lot of money. Jan lend us two bikes (for free!) and we were able to freely roam the city. The center is just 5-10 minutes by bike and beatiful to explore. We had a great time and if we'll ever come to Amsterdam, we know that we'll be staying here.

    Fantastic accommodations. Very accommodating host!

    January 02, 2011

We traveled to Europe in September 2010, and first stop was Amsterdam. What a great place to stay. Little hard to find, but worth the effort. Very clean, comfortable, and secure. Full kitchen for your needs. Owner lives in the house next door, so help is close at hand. Highly recommended. Russell & Nataliya, Kelowna BC

    The Gift of Graciousness

    January 02, 2011

There is a bakery with the aroma of fresh bread; there is a nearby Egyptian Deli with terrific Hamburgers; the Jordan is a short walk away; the tram is easy to get to; there is no language barrier; Museums and historic sites are all around; the Dutch send painters into the sky to paint clouds; the pea soup is nourishing and the raw Herring is as good as Sushi; It's safe and serene...and added to all of this are Jan and Gelske and their B&B, which makes all the wonders of Amsterdam all the more splendid. Go to Amsterdam for the art and history, and stay at Het Wittenbed for the value, the friendliness, and that inexpressable gift Jan and Gelske have for making their guests feel comfortable.

A great alternative to hotels in Amsterdam

    November 12, 2010

We stayed here for 2 nights in October. I wasn't sure what to expect. I could see from the website that it was someone's apartment. So I wasn't sure how that would work, exactly. Jan is the owner and he is fantastic. He couldn't meet us when we arrived but left directions for us to get a key and open the door. He met us later that evening and gave us ideas about what to see and some maps. Each morning he put out a simple breakfast. The value is fantastic. It is much more personal than staying in a hotel and you have a lot of space. It is a 2 bedroom apartment and so there is a lot of room and privacy. The location is not downtown, but a mile or so outside. This made it nice and quiet, but took a little more planning. Jan also lent us his bikes and that really made the trip special. Amsterdam by bike is HIGHLY recommended. We will stay here each time we pass through Amsterdam and we recommend it to others!

    The best bed and breakfast

    June 28, 2010

The bed and breakfast was fantastic, nice, comfortable, in a excellet area. The breakfast was perfect, with coffee, milk, different cheeses, jam, toast, mermelade and fruits. What can I say about the owner?. He is kind and efficient. He offered us all his help for visit the city and gave us bicycles. I hope to come back and no doubt I'll stay in the same place.
