We love Tom and Deede, what great hosts! A heartwarming breakfast, sufficient to skip lunch, and so well prepared and lovingly served. Tom ensured we got a table at the Joy Bistro on an ASU game day, they have excellent taste in local fare. Wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in the Boone/Blowing rock area. We'll be back.

Our stay at the Baird House was initiated by the need to find a hotel near to the River Run farm in Valle Crucis, where my niece was holding her wedding festivities. We also needed a room for three-my sister and I were traveling with our mother. We were so lucky to have been able to reserve the Mary Elizabeth room at the Baird House, which was only minutes away from the wedding venue. And when we requested an extra bed for and unexpected guest, Tom promptly organized that for us via the hotel's web connection. The owners Tom and Deede were out of town for a wedding on the coast but Deede's sister Cathy and her friend Caren were absolutely fabulous as stand in hosts. Friendly conversation, inviting smells from the kitchen and genuine concern for our well being were the order of the day. The house is a real gem, full of family photos and inviting rooms and the scenic surroundings just beautiful. The morning breakfast, served at 9, was simply delicious and made from scratch each morning.Sharing the meal with other guests around two breakfast tables made for interesting introductions and conversations. Hurriedly leaving on Sunday morning I left my cell phone behind, but Cathy arranged to have ti mailed to my sister , which I so appreciated. The weekend passed all too quickly, but I am looking forward to having the opportunity to return to this very charming and cozy inn in Valle Crucis, N.C. Hats off to the Baird House!

We have stayed at several bed and breakfast locations in 5 different states. Tom and Dee Dee are the best hosts we have had the pleasure to meet. The fall colors were spectacular and the service simply outstanding. We highly recommend the Baird House. Stan & Marcia October 2014

My brother and I had a wonderful stay at Baird House. What a beautiful place! And there were two great, unexpected perks – first, the food. Wow! It impressed my brother whose career revolves around excellent food – not easily done! Also, what a bed in the main room of the Highlander! That may seem like a small thing but not to me!! Add to all that, the nice company and the graciousness of the owners – it all made for a grand time!!

Deede, Tom and 4 children moved from Myrtle Beach to Valle Crucis in October 1997.Deede & Tom say that being innkeepers is" the hardest work that we have ever loved!" . Hosting a bed & breakfast inn must be in their blood/genetics since Deede's family owns a hotel at Ocean Isle Beach,NC & Tom's family was in the hotel business & his dad had B&B's in Charleston & Savannah. Genuine Southern hospitality is practised at the Baird House.
