Knollwood House

The Knollwood House is a beautiful old home on the 15th hole of the Mid Pines Golf Course. My husband and I have happily stayed there twice and look forward to staying there again. The second time we rented all five rooms for our family. Joe and Lyndee Radigan are gracious people and excellent innkeepers. The rooms are well appointed, bright and charming. Lyndee's 3 course breakfast is a special treat. I enjoyed the french toast so much she graciously gave me the recipe. Their attention to detail and their thoughtfulness are especially appreciated. Joe happened to overhear my husband saying that he doesn't like olives. The next morning a slice of olive bread was part of the breakfast-except for my husband, he got his own special wheat bread! Our son's wedding weekend in Southern Pines was very special. Joe and Lyndee helped to make it that way.

We were very pleased with our stay at Knollwood House. The suite was great, the breakfasts were exceptional and the hospitality made us feel like family.

My husband and I just spent three nights at the Knollwood B&B and enjoyed our stay immensely. The innkeepers, Joe and Lyndee, were gracious in their hospitality and extended themselves to ensure we felt completely at home. My friends and I stayed here for a Surprise Girl's Getaway Weekend. Our Innkeeper, Joe, was fabulous help in the planning of the special things we did that weekend from a Private Cooking Class to a day at the Steeplechase races. It was a super fun weekend and staying at the Knollwood was the perfect setting. Joe and Lyndee were AWESOME!

We were visiting the area from Scotland in early June as part of a long vacation in US - and naturally a charming B&B on the edge of a golf course had attraction for us. Our stay was delightful - the suite was lovely, and the breakfasts were simply delicious and set us up for day. But the outstanding feature of Knollwood House is the charm of Joe and Lindee. We told them , before we arrived, of our interest in history and they had looked out useful and helpful information for us. Nothing was too much trouble. We loved it!

We happened upon this wonderful b&b by chance, having discovered it on our IPad as we made our way down to Florida. Southern Pines looked like a good stopping point so without any advanced reservation we took a chance and called. Despite being their day off from hosting guests, Joe and Lyndee welcomed us to come. Joe patiently gave directions, twice, and was there to greet us in the driveway. We were thrilled to find ourselves in a lovely upscale home, with a comfy bed having a memory foam pad, high quality linens and an attached porch for some quiet reading. We were within walking distance to town and enjoyed dinner only a few blocks down the road. Breakfast was a wonderful surprise....wonderful French toast, the best B&B breakfast I have had....and we have stayed in over ten such places. We were so lucky to happen upon such a delightful and upscale B&B in lovely Southern Pines.

Great place to stay in Southern Pines, Nc. Centrally located to both Pinehurst, Southern Pines and Abredeen shopping and golf courses. Clean, comfortable, affordable B&B with owners (Joe & Lyndee) who care about making your stay the best that it can be. Outstanding Breakfast with company to boot. Enjoyed the three different breakfast places settings and the overall atmosphere of Joe & Lyndee's home. Couldn't have had a better stay.

My wife and I visited Knollwood House to celebrate her twenty-sixth birthday and also to celebrate the coming of our first child (this October). Taking up residence in the Hickstead Suite in the carriage house, we were happy to find the accommodations both clean and comfortable. I believe that the highlight of our stay was the meals we are served. Breakfast at Knollwood house is a calm and easy experience, not to mention delicious. Joe and Lyndee were exceedingly hospitable and friendly and made us feel quite at home. They easily accommodated my vegetarianism and were genuinely interested in their guests as people. Their knowledge of the area and their excellent service lend to a uniquely home-like experience.

Joe & Lyndee are just outstanding. They made us feel like we are part of their family. Always attentive to our needs, wonderful on assisting for any type of reservations, and charming host and hostess. The rooms are comfortable, large and clean. Breakfast is delicious and very elegant. They both exhibit true Southern Hospitality. Are only complaint is that we had to leave to go home. Jim and Shelly

Even the unseasonable cold and wet late March weather could not dampen the B&B experience we had at Knollwood House. Joe and Lyndee have mastered the fine art of southern hospitality to a "tee". Tee times by Joe were most helpful and appreciated. Excellent course recommendations. We felt like family before our weekend was over! We are still salivating over Lyndee's signature French Toast Marnier. We'll be back.

I have stayed several times at Knollwood now, each stay has been fantastic. This is the best location for visiting Southern Pines and Pinehurst, we really enjoy this area of the country. The Knollwood home is great and the owners make this the best experience I have had with B&Bs, I would choose it first over a hotel. The breakfast is better than restaurant quality by far.

We have now visited on multiple occasions and have had a very relaxing time with each visit. The house is beautiful and even had some additions since our last visit.... beautiful fire place in our room! Thanks again!

We spent a lovely weekend at Knollwood House. My husband was there for a charity golf tournament and I was there to explore Southern Pines and RELAX. We were not disappointed. Joe and Lyndee are most gracious hosts and the atmosphere of their home made you want to cancel any plans and just enjoy the grounds and lovely rooms. Joe was so thoughtful to let me sleep in and HE got up early to drive my husband to the golf course. Can it get any better?? Oh yes, it can there is a wonderful super sized cat living there. I sometimes find myself craving that wonderful french toast that Lyndee prepared for breakfast. They took care of making our reservations for dinner at Chef Warren's, don't skip this place. My wife and I really enjoyed our anniversary weekend at the Knollwood. Joe and Lyndee made the weekend very special for us.

For 7 years our foursome have stayed here. The owners have lined up the top golf courses for us to play and lined up great tee times as well. Breakfasts were imaginative and delicious.

I guess after six visits to Knollwood House, Lyndee is feeling comfortable with this group of four golfing guys because each morning she tried something she had not cooked before - and they were all fantastic. They could not be more affable hosts to the point where Joe subbed for one of our hurting guys on the golf course - and graciously lost $5. This is truly a wonderfully relaxed understatedly elegant place to stay. Every dumb little whim we came up with was handled effortlessly and beautifully. We'll go back next year if they will have us.

I recently stayed at Knollwood House with three other friends on our annual golf outing to Southern Pines (and Knollwood House). Unfortunately, my back gave out after two days. Joe and Lyndee drove me to and from a local massage therapist for treatment, made sure that I had ice to apply to my back, offered to cook me lunch, etc. In other words, they did everything they could to assist me. I would come back to Knollwood House at every opportunity. Joe and Lyndee are the best.

I was treated by a friend to a weekend at the Knollwood B&B. My husband and I had a wonderful time filled with all the treats and goodies that Joe and Lyndee provided. The food was great, the choices for breakfast entrees were excellent, the hospitality, conversation, and comfort made for a beautiful weekend a great birthday bash! Our one night stay in the Carriage House was very comfortable and pleasant. The breakfast Monday morning was delicious. Lyndee made us feel at home. We enjoyed our brief stay while visiting friends in the area.

Joe and Lyndee made us feel like family we hadn't had the pleasure of meeting before! This by far has been the very best bed and breakfast we have stayed in! Our room was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. So many thought-filled gestures were included in the room like the make-up remover and the robes. The breakfast was superb and they catered to my dietary needs. Lyndee and Joe joined us at the breakfast table with the other guests and we talked like we had known each other all our life time. Joe ensured we had everything we needed for a great stay. He knew the establishments in town and made referrals to wonderful and fulfilling restaurants that made the visit all the more delightful. I would need to write an essay to give justice to all of the wonderful ways that Joe and Lyndee made our very special weekend at Southern Pines an exceptional experience. We were treated like royalty yet at the same time felt like we were old friends. The attention to detail that the Radigans showed was outstanding. Their selection of restaurants was out of this world and perfect for our tastes. Joe and Lyndee take the time to get to know you which enables them to offer exactly what you are looking for and at the same time give you the freedom to make your own way. We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before and the Knollwood House was a perfect introduction. We celebrated our wedding anniversay with a last minute golf weekend. We were made to feel very comfortable in their home...excellent breakfasts. Joe made outstanding suggestions for a place to golf as well as restaurants the evening of arrival and our anniversay dinner. My husband and I are already talking about going for another weekend of golf. Thanks for a great experience!

My wife and I spent a long weekend at Southern Pines, looking for some golf, relaxation, good food and Southern hospitality. Knollwood House really fit the bill! Lyndee & Joe are the most gracious hosts. They helped us plan golf, side trips and dinner arrangements in advance, and matched our tastes perfectly in all respects. The golf here is fantastic, with Mid Pines (Donald Ross) the highlight for us – perhaps the nicest course we have ever played. (And Knollwood House is on the 15th hole, where Joe met us with refreshments on the way around!) The dinners they recommended were all superb. The Inn itself is charming – warm and welcoming, just like Lyndee and Joe. Lyndee’s breakfasts were yummy and varied, and served each day on different tableware. (Try asking in advance for the Sweet Omelet Soufflé with Caramelized Bananas.) They’re so friendly – just like old friends. They even let us walk the dog – a sweet Corgie named Harry. Wonderful accomadations, great breakfasts, relaxing down time. Joe made all of the tee time reservations as we had requested. Helpful with outside dining recommendations and making reservations. Joe and Lyndee are freindly and professioanl and can tend to all your needs in the Pinehurst area.

A wonderful place for a night or a week. We stayed for four nights and loved every minute of our stay. Joe helped select and made all our tee times and dinner reservations. Lyndee made some of the best breakfasts we have ever had. I would highly recommend bed and breakfast and Pinehurst to anyone.

This was our first trip to the Pinehurst area and as usual we did not really know what to expect from the town or the bed and breakfast. We were not disappointed in either. The visit to Pinehurst was a very pleasant experience and the stay at the Knollwood House was a wonderful experience. The B&B is one of the nicest B&B's we have stayed at over the years. Joe and Lyndee's hospitality definitely put it over the top. What a way to start the morning, waking up to the sun coming up through the pines on the 15th hole and the beautiful view of the dogwoods and azaleas along the fairway, and then, the wonderful breakfast that Lyndee prepared. Joe was so helpful in setting up our weekend with directions, setting up tee times, and making our dinner reservations. After breakfast on Sunday morning, Joe and Lyndee spent time talking with us and it almost seemed like we had known them for years. We are definitely looking forward to a return visit.

Wow, Where to begin? There are not enough words to describe our experience at The Knollwood House. It was the location of our wedding ceremony and we spent the next 2 evenings there as well. Joe and Lyndee went far over and above anything we could have asked or dreamed of. They rearranged the living room to make space. They went out and got more glasses to sure there was enough champage and glasses for the toast. Joe made sure the right music was qued up and played at the right time. They assisted with carrying all the stuff to and from the vehicles. Joe showed us the best places on the property for our pictures. In the mornings breakfast was nothing short of spectactular, from the food to the conversation. Our glasses never saw half full. Be it juice,coffee or water. After the meals , Lyndee would come in and sit with us. This was our first time at a B&B and they answered every one of our questions. Joe and Lyndee also shared several of thier life experiences. One evening they provided a package of bath salts so my Bride could relax in the spacious tub. We never had a want or need and they thought of things that we didn't. Joe also recomended the best places for dinners and he was spot on. We will be making this a yearly visit either on or near our anniversery. Joe and Lyndee run a 1st Class establishment. Being an innkeeper myself it's always great to see other innkeepers doing it right. We didn't have any guests ourselves for the evening and decided to take a trip to Southern Pines which just happens to be my hometown. The property is great. Our room was awesome fireplace & all. The sleeping porch overlooked the greens at nearby Mid Pines Resort. The breakfast was scrumptious. The company was wonderful, we even got to meet their daughters. The dinner referral was awesome. I will definitely recommend the Knollwood House to everyone that I know that will be travelling in the area.

Joe and Lyndee made me feel right at home. From providing clear directions to everywhere, to the inviting atmosphere, to a wonderful breakfast to start the day. My first inclination was to save money and stay at a low budget no frills place, however; as I was traveling alone and am on the road all the time as it is, I thought I would treat myself and give Knollwood House a try for my first visit. Am glad I did. A wonderful experience, can't wait to return.

I would highly recommend the Knollwood House. All facets of a splendid bed and breakfast are satisfied. Good food, a lovely room, a beautiful house and setting; and we were made to feel very comfortable. This is a place to return to.

The Knollwood House was my first choice for accommodations in Southern Pines, and after a three-day visit, I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. Joe and Lyndee were fabulous hosts and took care of every detail, starting with guiding me to the inn by phone when I got a little lost on the way there. The room was spacious yet cozy, and each breakfast was more delicious than the previous one (my favorite was the Grand Marnier french toast)! I especially appreciated the little extras, such as having a coffee station set up first thing each morning, or the individual packets of makeup remover in the bathroom. Soft, fragrant towels, comfortable beds, terry-cloth robes, heated blankets during a chilly spell in early March--you couldn't ask for anything more! Thank you, Joe and Lyndee!

We have traveled all over the United States and Europe and stayed in wonderful places and dined in fine restaurants, but we have never felt more welcome or been treated with such care as when we have visited Knollwood House. The Radigans are charming hosts, the Inn is terrific and Lyndee's breakfasts are great. And it is Harry's favorite place -- Harry is the Radigans' splendid Corgi who greets you upon arrival (if you wish) and makes sure you understand that you are a valued guest! If you are planning to go to Southern Pines, do yourself a favor and join Harry for an ice tea break in the garden.

We were welcomed graciously by Joe upon arrival. He was most helpful helping us get our bearings to the Pinehurst area and locating our friends' home. We were delighted with the lovely home they have, the room was gorgeous, quiet and comfortable. Our breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious, much like what you would expect at a top rated resort. Lyndee joined our group at the table and visited with us which certainly gave it a feeling of visiting friends. I would recommend Knollwood House to anyone traveling in this area. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and Joe and Lyndee could not have been nicer for the duration of our stay. The rooms, especially those in the main house, were spacious and beautiful. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and Joe also provided great suggestions for places to have dinner in town. The beds were so comfortable we were tempted to flip over the mattress so that we could figure out which brand it was and buy one for ourselves. We'll definitely be back, we had a wonderful stay.

I stay at Knollwood House 4 to 5 times a year when I come to NC to visit my horse. Joe and Lyndee welcome me like family. They keep me current on the good restaurants in Southern Pines and Pinehurst. Joe is more than happy to make dinner or golf reservations. Lyndee's breakfasts are a gourmet treat. I don't think I've had the same meal twice. I always meet an interesting mix of people from both in and out of state. I've visited alone, with my 20 year old daughters and my 80 year old parents. We've all had a great time.

We spent 6 wonderful days over Christmas time at our daughter's suggestion. She is a resident of Southern Pines. We had a lovely suite, different breakfasts each of the 6 days and it was warm and comfortable, even though it was a bit chilly for NC then. We will be back there and I suggest you give it a try. You will not be disappointed.....

Although we've stayed in the area before, this was our first stay at the Knollwood House. We had a great experience. Joe got us tee times nearby at great rates and recommended fantastic restaurants for both nights we were there, including New Year's Eve. The breakfasts Lyndee made us were delicious. Although the weather was cool and damp, the fireplaces in the bedrooms kept us feeling very cozy, and we spent a fair amount of time in front of the fireplace in the living room visiting with our friends. We were made to feel very much at home, and Joe was full of helpful information about the area. We will be back!

The stay at the Knollwood House was a perfect end to our Wedding night. Joe and Lyndee were amazingly helpful and totally committed to making our stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. I can not say enough about the high standards that they have set for every B&B that we might stay at in the future. From the comfortable rooms to the exquisite breakfast, I just can't say how happy we were with our stay.

This was our first visit and it surely won't be our last. Joe & Lyndee were so welcoming to us; we really hated to leave. Their home is beautiful, comfortable, and they make sure your stay is memorable. Our visit was over the Halloween weekend -- it was the best of "treats."

I'm not sure anything more can be said about Knollwood House that has not already been said by others in the past. If we had to key in on one word it would have to be "service". They have performed miraculously starting with a most appetizing and healthy breakfast. Your prearranged golf tee times each day with a different golf course was amazing, with dinner arrangements each night at some of the finest restaurants in the area, is a compliment to the knowledge and good taste of our hosts. We actually looked forward to bedtime each night knowing our rooms were meticulously prepared and most inviting. Allof the above made for a most enjoyable stay. We have been coming to Knollwood House for six years to play golf in the area. Our recent visit was the best to date. Joe and Lyndee Radigan have really found their stride as innkeepers. The relaxed hospitality, attention to detail, and responsiveness to our requests made our stay memorable. We will be back.

I have stayed at the Knollwood House twice--once in August 2008 when I was "horse shopping" and just recently in October 2009 when I was visiting horsey friends in Southern Pines. I did not think of staying anywhere else, as I love the warmth and hospitality that Joe and Lyndee offer their guests. Warm atmosphere, beautiful property and excellent breakfasts! Can't be beat for a B&B!!! Highly, highly recommended!!! And I am sure I'll be staying there for future visits to Southern Pines.

I'm not usually a fan of B&B's, but the Knollwood House is exceptional. The room was very comfortable. The Ratigans are friendly and very helpful. The breakfast were delicious. This is a great place to stay for a short golf visit in the Pinehurst area.

Located amongst towering pines and beautiful gardens, is the stately Knollwood House. The hosts were gracious and solicitous. The Ascot Suite located away from the main house was the perfect retreat for my elderly cousin and I. The breakfast was beyond compare. An exceptional experience.

Spent our 35th wedding anniversary in Pinehurst. Perfect weather, perfect hosts, perfect experience. Joe was most helpful in directing us to places to play golf and a nice dinner. Have stayed in many B&Bs across the country and Ireland and would put Knollwood House in the top five. Plan on doing it again next spring.

Just a one night stay, but the Knollwood House is a real gem! I've stayed in many 4 star B&B's in Scotland and Ireland and this is one of the best. Joe and Lyndee are as gracious as can be and made us immediately feel comfortable. They know the area well and will help in anyway possible with very good "insider knowledge" about local golf. We will definitely be back!

I went on this trip with 4 girlfriends and had a wonderful stay at this B&B. The hosts were gracious, very kind, wonderful about helping us find a location for a private cooking class for 5 girls, and the owner even rescued us from sunburn by finding our sunscreen in our rooms (with permission and at our request) and brought it with them to the steeplechase and got it to us. Knollwood's setting amidst Azaleas, Dogwoods and pines, with splendid views out of every window, provides the warmest of Carolina embraces. Our suite was luxurious and comfortable, and the Radigans are the most gracious of hosts! What a charming destination for a girlfriend getaway! We were greeting by Joe upon our arrival and given a house tour. It is beautifully appointed and I just felt the stress melt away when I saw my room and the reading porch attached to it! The bed was soooo comfy, rooms were spacious, and the view of the golf course spectacular. I took a walk with the inn's dogs one afternoon to see the azaleas and dogwoods in bloom. We never lacked for anything - whatever we needed, it was taken care of. Food was delicious- a treat each morning. The hosts were gracious and delightful to work with.

We have stayed at the Knollwood House on different occassions. Both times were wonderful. The rooms are lovely and Joe and Lyndee couldn't be nicer. Joe arranged golf and dinner for us without hesitation. Lyndee's homecooked breakfasts were delicious. We will definitely stay with them again!

My husband and I were in town for a weekend of house-hunting. While this can be exhausting at best and miserable at worst, we had the most amazing weekend, thanks in large part to our relaxing Friday night at Knollwood House. We stayed in the Prestwick Room in the main house. I think it's one of their more modest rooms, but it was perfectly wonderful by our standards. The bedding was comfortable, the view last lovely, and we enjoyed the fireplace in the room as it kept us warm and toasty. Joe made us an awesome breakfast the next morning (thanks for the recipe!) and pumped us full of coffee before our busy day got underway. We told all of our local friends that they HAVE to experience a weekend getaway at Knollwood House, and we're already making plans for our next visit.

This is definitely the place for couples or golf groups who want to feel special. We have stayed at other b&b's or luxury resort hotels and this place just felt right. It felt like our own home. Joe made us a luxurious but down home breakfast. What a setting, overlooking the golf course but secluded and quiet!!! Definitely worth coming back to.

we have just spent our first trip to knollwood house. it will not the the last. we had heard from our friends who were in the group of 8 how good it was. they weren't kidding. joe and lyndee are great hosts. she's the dynamite cook, he's the ever present do-everything guy. the rooms are very large and pleasant. but I just love the big house, the openess, the porch, the service. did I mention the afternoon freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies. the breakfasts are as advertised, gourmet. joe will also make your golf and dinner reservations. I much prefer the placid atmosphere of southern pines to the more publicized pinehurst, where there can be a "we're famous and know it" viewpoint offered. come to knollwood house and see for yourself. bill brill, durham, nc

We enjoyed our stay very much. The accommodations are very nice, clean and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the golf course. The house is very warm and welcoming. The location is great and very accessible. The best part of our visit was Joe, Lyndee and Cora. Joe was great with golf and activity advice and made our arrangments for us. Lyndee's breakfasts were wonderful, tasty, creative and very well presented. Cora (housekeeping) was delightful and took good care of us. They were all very warm and hospitable. What a wonderful experience. Joe and Lyndee far exceeded our expectations. The GlenEagles Suite wasspacious and well appointed. Two important items for any room from a 20 year road warrior is the bed and the shower. The bedding was very, very comfortable and the shower was hot and excellent pressure. Now let's talk about Lyndee's breakfast. FANTASTIC! We enjoyed breakfast for the three mornings and each one was different from the other and homemade! Joe and Lyndee made us feel right at home from the very start and made sure we were satisfied with every detail. This is a don't miss opportunity if you are in the area.

The setting is excellent and quite. The location is great, all attractions are very close (Pinehurst village is only 10 minutes away) The rooms at Knollwood are clean, big & roomy! Lyndee & Joe do a fabulous job with the breakfast and the service could not be better. I know my wife and I will return someday!!!

Although originally from the South, my wife and I now live in LA. We scheduled a few days at the Knollwood house midway through our stops to visit friends and relatives back in NC and SC. Seeing the stately Knollwood House instantly transported us back to the South - with its charm and gentility. Joe and Lyndee Radigan were gracious hosts...both were warm and uncommonly hospitable while very well organized and attending to all details. We stayed in the Hickstead Suite in the carriage house, which we highly recommend for its accomodations, privacy and quite charm. All-in-all we could not have imagined a better stay!

There wasn't anything our mother needed for her 75th birthday, so time spent with her at Knollwood House was the perfect gift. Three of us stayed in the St. Andrews Suite at Lyndee's recommendation: Mom in the luxurious queen bed and my sister and I on the cozy sleeping porch. Joe and Lyndee were the best innkeepers. They were very personable, down-to-earth, hospitable, and accommodating. Our second evening we decided to pick up a few lite food items for dinner and eat on the back porch. We really didn't need anything, but Joe and Lyndee maximized our comfort with a fan, ice, glasses, plates, cloth! napkins, and lit a candle for us. We have already and will continue to recommended Knollwood House.

A wonderful place to stay, with beautiful rooms, grounds, and wonderful hosts who take the time to know you, ask about your likes, give recommendations. You feel like you have returned to old friends even though you just met them. Offered early check-in so we could enjoy more of what Southern Pines had to offer and met out diety needs with a smile. I would recommend this lovely inn to anyone who wants a quiet, relaxing place to spend some down-time with their significant other. I plan to return.

Absolutely WONDERFUL! Our stay at the Knollwood House in Pinehurst was delightful! Although we had a short stay, (one night) my husband and I were very relaxed and pleased with the fabulous service! Joe and Lyndee were so sweet and kind to us. Joe made reservations for my husband and I (my husband had literally just stepped off the plane from a 13 month deployment in Iraq!) at a local restaurant called the Ironwood Café. We were treated with excellent service and a complimentary appetizer at the Ironwood Café! Our room at the Knollwood House was so beautiful, spacious, very clean and relaxing! We were treated with superb complimentary wine in our room when we arrived! My husband and I were so thrilled to be able to spend some quality time together in the peacefulness of the Pinehurst surroundings. We both slept like babies on the cozy bed! We had to leave VERY early the next morning, but that didn’t stop Joe and Lyndee from making us a SPECTACULAR breakfast! They got up and made an awesome breakfast for us, to start our day off right! We were able to talk and share some of our experiences with Joe and Lyndee. Joe and Lyndee truly treated us like family. My husband and I felt so relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed the surroundings and our stay at the Knollwood House! We are looking forward to going back soon, and hopefully staying longer! The May Family

My wife and I were looking for a quick get-away from Raleigh to celebrate our wedding anniversary and found the Knollwood House online. We made our reservation online and Joe responded by suggesting some great local restaurants and offering to make a dinner reservation for us. When we arrived, he showed us around and made sure we were comfortable in our room in the carriage house. The next morning Joe and Lyndee had coffee and the morning paper available before they served a beautiful and absolutely delicious breakfast and made everyone feel at home. The Radigans are exceptionally gracious hosts and we look forward to visiting them and their beautiful B&B again soon.

Knollwood House is a wonderful respite for all, especially those who live nearby in Pinehurst. We needed a break from business travel and this oasis made the 24 hrs. seem like 72 that refused to end. Joe made reservations for us at a local restaurant that was superb. We had a relaxing, romantic pm in quiet quarters and a leisurely, delicious breakfast in the am. Many kind thanks to our hosts. This was a real delightful stay. Joe and Lyndee couldn't make you feel more at home. The home is absolutely beautiful and the room was very spacious with an additional room off the bedroom for reading or TV wathching with a sofa and chair. Our view from the room was on the 15th fairway overlooking Mid Pines Golf Course. Our breakfast was fresh and thoughtfully prepared by Lyndee, gracefully explained by Joe, and very delicious. It was always accompanied by fresh fruit and the main course was different all three days we were there. Knollwood House is just minutes from restaurants, shopping, golf, etc. Southern Pines is just a quaint and peaceful location for a fantastic getaway. We have stayed here many years. The location suits us perfectly - in the middle of everything, but quietly secluded. Just out the back door of Knollwood House, we start our day with a walk on one of Pinehurst's most beautiful golf courses (you'll likely see Joe starting his day, too, walking the dogs!). Coffee is available early, followed shortly by a breakfast treat. Support staff have been with Knollwood House many years, and are a joy. Whatever your interest, or unexpected need, Joe & Lyndee will likely have several options for you to consider. Joe acquires confirmation or reservations for you in short order, complete with directions.

Joe and Lyndee were so gracious to us, arriving unexpectedly as we did. Knollwood House is lovely, the setting so private - with a great view of the golf course. Our room was perfect, with the sitting porch for reading and tv watching. Breakfast was amazing - how did Lyndee know that Grand Marnier French toast was a perfect choice for us? We stayed while in transit from Fayetteville to Charlotte, but we will return to enjoy a longer visit to Southern Pines and Pinehurst - it will feel like visiting friends.

Joe and Lyndee set the gold standard for hospitality! They are beyond gracious and accommodating. To stay with them in their beautiful house and be served a gourmet breakfast beats staying in any hotel. The serenity of the setting coupled with the service they provide makes staying there a must.

From end to end our initial stay was wonderful. After leaving to spend another week wondering around the Carolinas we returned to spend one more night at Knollwood House before catching a plane home. Whether you are a golfer, equestrian or just a vagabond tourist this is a wonderful place to stay.

On our first trip to Southern Pines, we stayed at the Knollwood House. Our hosts, Joe and Lyndee Radigan greeted us warmly and showed us around this beautiful property. The common areas consisted of an outdoor terrace, an enclosed sun porch, and a living room with books, board games and a piano. The dining room where breakfast is served is spacious and bright with elegant furnishings. Our room, the Gleneagles Suite had a comfortable king-size bed, a large closet and a sleeping porch that overlooked the neighboring golf course. The room was quiet and airy with many windows. The sit-down breakfast was excellent and for you early risers, coffee is on at 7:00 AM! On our next trip to Southern Pines, there is no question that we will return to the Knollwood.

Our stay was absolutely fabulous! We travel a lot and this was the best stay ever. Besides historic, roomy, charming and clean accommodations, the personalized service was tremendous. Joe and Lyndee booked tee times, arranged massages and dinner reservations in the area. They made us feel absolutely at home. Lyndee's breakfasts were out of this world! I would highly recommend the Knollwood Inn for everything from a weekend getaway to a long-term stay. Not knowing what to expect, we were greatly pleased and surprised by the warm and inviting atmosphere. By no means did we feel like we were staying in a hotel, but at a home of our dear friends. Joe and Lyndee could not have done more to make us feel at home. Joe suggested and booked all of our activities and Lyndee spoiled us with great breakfasts!! This is one vacation we will never forget! We arrived as strangers is a new location and left as friends with a wonderful couple!!!

Knollwood House was surpassing! Our stay could not have been more pleasant from Lyndee's gracious reception to Joe's attention to every detail. From the breakfasts to the accommodations it could not have been grander at any of the so-called Grand Hotels. Jeanne and myself look forward to returning next year on our way north. P.S. Joan (my wife) and I arrived at Knollwood with 45 minutes left in the Masters and, immediately on our arrival, Joe greeted us,turned on the living room TV, made us comfortable and took our luggage upstairs. What a great greeting! When we saw our room, an hour later, we already felt at home, a feeling that continued throughout our stay. Joan and Lyndee have found the perfect balance between between comfortable hospitality and respect for privacy. Knollwood enhanced a lovely stay in a lovely area. Our visit was the first of many!

Our party of four couples descended upon Joe and Lyndee Radigan in early April for a long weekend of golf, shopping, spa treatments, dining and good fun. This was our first use of a B&B in the Southern Pines/Pinehurst area and the experience simply could not have been more delightful. In the first place, Joe Radigan did everything possible to make the visit as convenient as possible. He booked the golf, dinner and spa reservations for us and provided answers to all of our questions about our upcoming visit. Upon arrival, we discovered that the Knollwood House is indeed a most "elegant" facility. Our rooms were wonderful. Each couple had a suite and we had the run of the living, dining and sun rooms in the main house. The Knollwood house is beautifully decorated, but not over the top. It is a very easy place to feel comfortable, especially while relaxing after golf by watching the Masters on the large flat-screen TV and sipping on a few adult beverages. We simply could not recommend this facility and its wonderful hosts more highly! It is a respite from our busy lives that we all plan to enjoy repeatedly in the future.

We expected Knollwood House to provide us with luxurious accommodation, and a beautiful convenient setting as we had checked the descriptions and photos on the excellent website so we were not surprised by our lovely suite .What sets Knollwood House apart was the hospitality of our hosts.Lyndee made the most beautifully presented and delicious breakfasts and Joe could not do enough to make our stay pleasant.We were in Southern Pines to golf and not only did Joe know all the best courses to suit our criteria but he also arranged our tee times and spent a great deal of time helping us to select the perfect restaurant each evening

As you enter Knollwood House you feel the Southern charm and friendliness that Joe and Lyndee have created for their guests. Our room was decorated in lightness, yet had a warm cozy feel to it with the quaint fireplace ablaze with gas logs. We highly recommend this romantic get-away to all who need to see God's beauty outside of their usual surroundings!

We have stayed with Joe and Lyndee on several occaisons and feel as though The Knollwood House is our home away from home. Lyndee takes care to create a different and unique breakfast every time we stay there and each is fantastic! Joe is gracious and efficient in setting up tee times or dinner reservations and always makes good recommendations. The rooms are always spotless and comfortable. Each morning at breakfast there is lively conversation from the guests who hail from all around the world. Joe and Lyndee always seem to find a connection between the guests that creates a warm, friendly and relaxed environment. Joe and Lyndee's Knollwood House is without a doubt the best B&B we have ever stayed in, and we plan on visiting often!

The Knollwood B&B experience was breathtaking. We went there for our 15th wedding anniversary. The Innkeepers, Joe and Lyndee Radigan, are very warm and down to earth. As soon as we walked into the house, we smelled the bread being made in the oven. We stayed in the Gleneagles suite which had an alcove overlooking the 15th green for the golf course. We really enjoyed the private suite. Joe and Lyndee were able to arrange a hot stone massage in our room for the both of us. It was fabulous. There are lot of locally owned restaurants and shops. Depending on your taste, Joe will suggest which place to dine at. We ate dinner at the Ironwood Cafe. It is less than 5 min from the B&B. The food was excellent. We had couple of appetizers and dessert. We went to the local shops and found great deals, even better than the Internet!! Lyndee prepared wonderful meals both mornings that we stayed. In fact she was kind enough to give us one of her recipes. It had been about 9 yrs since we went to Knollwood B&B; it will not be 9 yrs before we go back to see Joe and Lyndee. They were both very hospitable and friendly. We had a great time!

We just recently visited the Knollwood house, and were immediately impressed with the service, house, and overall friendliness of everyone. Joe & Lyndee know how to spoil you and make you feel right at home. For someone that travels a lot, I HIGHLY recommend a stay here. Just let Joe make your dinner reservations and enjoy your stay. Joe & Lyndee are relatively new to being innkeepers but you would never know it by their natural ability to make you feel so welcome and their attention to detail, not only in the ambience of their B&B but their willingness to assist in any requests. We have stayed at many B&B's and Knollwood House would have to be right up there at the top of the list of our most pleasant stays!

Joe and Lyndee were the perfect hosts. The house was beautiful, the grounds great and the access to local runs, walks and great dining was perfect. Joe set up a wonderful in-room couples massage, which left my wife and myself totally relaxed, had wine for us in our enclosed porch overlooking the golf course and had dinner reservations at a fabulous restauraunt. We could not have asked for a better day! Plus breakfast the next morning was beautiful and delicious and talking with the hosts made us feel right at home. Stop at the Knollwood house when you are in Southern pines and you won't be disappointed!

We've stayed in many B&B's around the world over the years. What a great find the Knollwood House was - certainly one of the top B&B's anywhere. Not only is the house perfect but hosts Joe and Lyndee take EVERY opportunity to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Like others have mentioned, by the end of our too brief stay, we almost felt like a member of the family. We are booking again soon! Have been going to the Pinehurst area for many years now and the best, to date, is Knollwood House. Joe and Lyndee are wonderful hosts who make you feel like family. The breakfasts are original and sumptious. They truly went out of their way to accommodate us in our recent visit arranging our golf outings and dinner reservations. We will definitely return next year.

The proprietors' attention to detail makes this an outstanding find at a reasonable rate. The house is beautiful and the room had excellent appointments, including private bath, sun room and bath robes. A glass of wine when we arrived, gourmet breakfast every day, newspapers brought in for us, remembering our personal breakfast beverage preference and serving us as soon as we came down stairs, accommodating our visitors.... And, the list goes on. One of the best BnBs we have ever experienced, and we've seen many!
