what a fun weekend. Such interesting items and books to look at, the tour of this old home and it's treasures was great! I would go back if only to sit on the porch with the wonderful coffee and to enjoy the breakfast! Red velvet pancakes???!!! Parmesan grits!! and pie offered all day with coffee bar. really a great get-away. the cooking class was delightful, too!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Chef Marti gave a very informative history lesson of the Inn. The breakfast was a feast. Thanks very much.

Mixed Review

I was really looking forward to our stay at The Inn of the Patriots which included a cooking class. I called the Monday before our stay to verify the date of the cooking class and was told it was on FRIDAY. However, when we arrived, we were told they had scheduled us for THURSDAY. THE chef had to go out of town for a presentation and we had missed the THURSDAY cooking class. Going to the cooking class was the incentive for going to The Inn of the Patriots. We were given a raincheck for the cooking class, but I doubt that we will ever go "off the beaten path for just a cooking class since the bed and breakfast in itself was expensive.

Innkeeper Response
Bless you for visiting us and please note that our entire website, your coupon advertising and several letters sent to you all require cooking classes to be reserved online, and in writing. No one remembers your call and your friend did mention that she felt you confused "calling us" with "another place." It may be out of kindness that she was trying to gently let us know we had done nothing wrong. We are therefore more than happy to welcome you back for your class anytime you like and provide a free room stay for you and your friend! It being our goal for you to have a good time :)

WOW !!!

5 on April 08, 2015

Marti is an outstanding host; the breakfasts (2) were excellent; the room had everything, including a great sleeping bed. We were allowed to make ourselves at home for cooking supper, and the souvenir shops were exceptionally tempting (we bought several truly unique items). There are abundant places to visit .... more than two days worth

Innkeeper Response
Your gift shop purchases were amazing and we were so gifted by you to have your visit here! Your friend, Marti

A joy and a learning experience bundled into One

What a great place! And Chef Marty made all the difference. Education consisted of a cooking class and daily Revolutionary War and White House historical classes. The inn is magnificent, the staff extraordinarily helpful and friendly, our host indescribedly knowledgeable (and just plain nice)! If you're considering a stay at this Inn, just do it now.

Chefs Marti and Stormy have a done a beautiful job of recreating history in this lovely old home. Marti's artifacts are throughout the property and he tours his guests throughout with in-depth animated and entertaining narrations. Quite the raconteur he is. Pretty good chef, too. The real star of the show, though, is Kim. She's sweet and accommodating and makes everyone feel as welcome and comfortable as anyone could feel. Bravo Zulu to the whole experience.

Amazing Stay and Fasinating History Told By America's Finest

5 on March 25, 2015

This is a lovely B&B that is run by America's finest in Military Service and Culinary likes. The host and hostess along with Kim, make this place home. The food is still deserving of an American President and his family. The historical tours and and show cases of historical items makes the tours come to like. The special Irish dinner was amazingly served on a wooden table out of the revolutionary years and the breakfast is wonderful. The cooking class was perfect with the right amount of students and the teaching inspired you to try it at home. This is a wonderful place to just relax and listen to the train go by while rocking on the front porch. A excellent stay that was enhanced by wonderful kind host that work so hard to make your stay enjoyable.

Oceanicus Blue Dreams

Along the bulkheads are lighthouses and ships, spyglasses and shells, log books and scrolls of antique paper as well as shiny brass lanterns, cutlasses, iron handguns, knives and swords. Signature Dish

Werner's Strammer Max
A great Chef friend of mine from Austria taught me how to make this dish from Salzburg - the famed Strammer Max of bread on a buttered skillet, Black Forest Ham, Swiss Cheeses and two eggs over easy on top! We continue to serve it and honor Werner from a town where the Sound of Music was filmed, Salzburg, Austria - a town I enjoyed visiting. We have also begun to serve the famous Cleveland Club sandwich made famous in Cleveland County, NC by my chef wife, Stormy and I.
