The Culpepper Inn

609 W Main St Main Street , Elizabeth City, NC 27909 USA (Show map)

Tucked away in historic, beautiful downtown Elizabeth City, our North Carolina bed and breakfast, the Culpepper Inn, is just one-hour drive from Norfolk International Airport, Virginia Beach, VA oceanfront, and the Outer Banks resort areas of eastern North Carolina. This three-story brick Georgian Revival style manor was built by William and Alice Culpepper in 1935 and is situated in the center of the historic district of Elizabeth City, NC. The Inn is only six blocks from the center of town and the harbor front on the Pasquotank River. The Inn features eleven guest rooms - four in the Main House, one suite in the Carriage House, and six in the Camellia Guest House. All of our guest rooms feature a private bath. The Inn is surrounded by lush grounds with beautiful old live oak and magnolia trees, and the property is accented by over 20 different camellia trees and bushes. The Tavern Room, in-ground saltwater pool, rockers on the porch, daybed in the screened living room, complimentary bicycles and the fish pond invite our guests to linger and relax during their stay. This atmosphere can be a welcome change from typical hotel accommodations.

Spectacular retreat

Amazing atmosphere, most friendliest staff ever, peaceful and serene treasure nestled in the heart of a small town. Oh can't forget the scrumptious the sit down instead of buffet-you'll love the spectacular service. You won't want to leave. A place where you leave your troubles at the door. Hated to leave but coming back Holly. And thanks Michael for giving me Christmas in Sept. RB. If I could give you 10 stars I would. Love ya

Nice Place!

My wife and I have stayed at the Culpepper Inn twice. The Inn and grounds are well maintained. The rooms are quiet and comfortable. Holly, Mike and Melanie are very friendly and welcoming. They even provide breakfast for guests that have to leave early in the morning. Most of the B & B's that we stay at do not have a pool. This one has a wonderful pool that we enjoy hanging out at. We will be back in the future. Jim & Lynda S. Columbia, MD

Weekend Getaway

The Culpepper Inn is a very charming place for a weekend getaway. The Lavender Room was comfy and cozy with a bed that slept really well. The hostess was able to give us wonderful recommendations on things to do in Elizabeth City since our original plans were cancelled due to the rain. We will definitely vistit the bed and breakfast again.

Innkeeper Response
It is guests like you that keep our energy & enthusiasm for this business alive. Thank you!

A gem in the Harbor of Hospitality

As a family of 4 with 2 kids under 7 we are perhaps not the traditional bed and breakfast crowd, but at the Culpepper Inn we were pleased to find that families can enjoy the charm of a B&B! While some parts of the inn were off-limits to our little ones, we never felt shunned. There is plenty of peaceful, open space here and I can imagine this being a perfect spot to meet up with old friends for a few days. We stayed in the Carriage House, which had more than enough room for our family. Beware--the food here is a amazing! We were welcomed with pastries and tea, and breakfast was flavorful, fresh, and hearty! Southern hospitality and comfort at their best!

Innkeeper Response
We are very appreciative you took the time to provide such a lovely review. Thank you & please, visit again!
