Elizabeth City's oldest house, ca. 1798, is now a luxury two-suite B&B in the historic district of downtown Elizabeth City! Spacious suites have separate sitting rooms, ensuite whirlpool baths and showers, wifi, luxurious linens, flat-screen TVs. The king suite has a king bed in the bedroom, and a loveseat which makes into a single bed in the adjoining sitting room (this suite can sleep a total of three). The queen suite has a queen bed in the bedroom, but the loveseat in its adjoining sitting room does not make into a single bed (this suite sleeps two). Homemade, gourmet breakfasts are served with china, sterling silver, and Waterford crystal. Library, sunroom, enclosed brick patio, rockers on porches. We pamper our guests -- our small B&B guarantees you either a private or semi-private stay!

It's always a joy to find a reason to stay at the Grice-Fearing House. The house itself has been meticulously restored by the Falcons and their attention to detail is evident wherever you look. Both suites offer sitting areas, huge comfortable beds, and nicely decorated bathrooms which feature jacuzzi tubs for soothing sore muscles after a full day of driving or sightseeing. The Falcons go the extra step to make sure all your needs are addressed; they also provide delicious gourmet breakfasts. The Grice-Fearing House is definitely a go-to place when you're in East Carolina--we highly recommend it!

I have stayed here several times, both on my way to the Outer Banks and as a destination in itself. The house is lovely, and has been thoughtfully renovated and updated so that all the amenities are available but none of the history is lost. Its convenient location means you can walk to many of Elizabeth City's points of interest, like the waterfront, or art galleries, or the local wine store which has entertainment some evenings. The owners are charming retirees who travel extensively, and have many wonderful stories to share about the places they have been. The cuisine reflects their interest in food, both local and international, and the breakfasts are as lovely to look at as they are good to eat.

If you want a chance to combine historical elegance with decadent luxury this is your chance! I have spent several nights here and for colonial atmosphere with 21st Century amenities this place can't be beat. Ample parking, friendly greetings by fascinating hosts (these people have traveled everywhere!) yet serene privacy with many nooks for reflection and contemplation - the front porch (look at the ceiling!), the back balcony, the library garden - this is a great base from which to explore the Albemarle! The breakfast is great - ask for the eggs Benedict - in a superb setting with porcelain and silverware. The Jacuzzi is wonderful!! Only complaint is with only two suites they fill up so it can be problematical to schedule last minute booking - although certainly worth a try. This place is what originally attracted me to B&Bing!!

My husband and I have stayed here several times on our way to the Outer Banks. We love the two room suites (we usually choose the Fearing suite with king bed). It is so nice to have a room to watch TV and relax and another room for sleeping. The bathrooms are wonderfully equipped with jacuzzi tubs. We especially enjoy having morning coffee on the front porch. Breakfasts have all been delicious and included fruit, homemade breads or muffins, and a main dish. We have eaten in the formal dining room and also on the cozy patio. Georgene and Vidal are perfect hosts, always sharing the history of the home, restaurant recommendations, and current events in town. We have had wonderful times here enjoying an evening glass of wine and hearing about their travel adventures. We will always stay here when in Elizabeth City--simply the best.

If you plan to travel through northeastern North Carolina, be sure to make the Grice-Fearing House B&B in Elizabeth City a must-stay destination on your trip. Experience five-star hospitality from gracious innkeepers Georgene and Vidal Falcon in their charming, sensitively rehabilitated home, fairly reeking of history, within a stone's throw of downtown Elizabeth City. As a regular business traveler who works in this region of the state, I have stayed here on many occasions, and always consider it as my "home away from home". From the spacious suites with commodious bathrooms and comfortable bedding, to the exquisitely prepared and generous breakfasts, I have always found the food, accommodations, and company to be the finest of any I have experienced in my travels anywhere, the ne plus ultra of B&B's.
